Yang-Baxter bialgebras, as previously introduced by the authors, are shown to arise from a double crossproduct construction applied to the bialgebra R T T = T T R, E T = T E R, Δ(T) = T \hat{\otimes} T, Δ(E) = E \hat{\otimes} T + 1 \hat{\otimes} E and its skew dual, with R being a numerical matrix solution of the Yang-Baxter equation. It is further shown that a set of relations generalizing q-Serre ones in the Drinfeld-Jimbo algebras U_q(g) can be naturally imposed on Yang-Baxter algebras from the requirement of non-degeneracy of the pairing.
We will introduce an associative (or quantum) version of Poisson structure tensors. This object is defined as an operator satisfying a "generalized" Rota-Baxter identity of weight zero. Such operators are called generalized Rota-Baxter operators. We will show that generalized Rota-Baxter operators are characterized by a cocycle condition so that Poisson structures are so. By analogy with twisted Poisson structures, we propose a new operator "twisted Rota-Baxter operators" which is a natural generalization of generalized Rota-Baxter operators. It is known that classical Rota-Baxter operators ar…
The aim of this paper is to introduce the notion of a mock-Lie bialgebra which is equivalent to a Manin triple of mock-Lie algebras. The study of a special case called coboundary mock-Lie bialgebra leads to the introduction the mock-Lie Yang-Baxter equation on a mock-Lie algebra which is an analogue of the classical Yang-Baxter equation on a Lie algebra. Note that a skew-symmetric solution of mock-Lie Yang-Baxter equation gives a mock-Lie bialgebra. Finally, the notation of $\mathcal O$-operators are studied to construct skew-symmetric solution of mock-Lie Yang-Baxter equation.
We investigate some properties of Rota-Baxter operators on BiHom-Lie algebras. Along the way, we introduce BiHom analogues of pre-Lie and Leibniz algebras.
Consider the class RBLie of Lie algebras equipped with a Rota---Baxter operator. Then the forgetful functor RBLie --> Lie has a left adjoint one denoted by $U_{RB}(\cdot)$. We prove an "operator" analogue of the Poincare---Birkhoff---Witt theorem for $U_{RB}(L)$, where $L$ is an arbitrary Lie algebra, by means of Gröbner---Shirshov bases theory for Lie algebras with an additional operator.
A dynamical Yang-Baxter map, introduced by Shibukawa, is a solution of the set-theoretical analogue of the dynamical Yang-Baxter equation. In this paper, we initiate a quiver-theoretical approach for the study of dynamical Yang-Baxter maps. Our key observation is that the category of dynamical sets over a set $Λ$, introduced by Shibukawa to establish a categorical framework to deal with dynamical Yang-Baxter maps, can be embedded into the category of quivers with vertices $Λ$. By using this embedding, we shed light on Shibukawa's classification result of a certain class of dynamical Yang-Baxte…
This paper contains a systematic and elementary introduction to a new area of the theory of quantum groups -- the theory of the classical and quantum dynamical Yang-Baxter equations. It arose from a minicourse given by the first author at MIT in the Spring of 1999, when the second author extended and improved his lecture notes of this minicourse. The quantum dynamical Yang-Baxter equation is a generalization of the ordinary quantum Yang-Baxter equation, considered in a physical context by Gervais and Neveu, and later from a mathematical viewpoint by Felder. Felder attached to every solution of…
Let $(\bf U, \bf U^\imath)$ be a quantum symmetric pair of Kac-Moody type. The $\imath$quantum groups $\bf U^\imath$ and the universal $\imath$quantum groups $\widetilde{\bf U}^\imath$ can be viewed as a generalization of quantum groups and Drinfeld doubles $\widetilde{\bf U}$. In this paper we formulate and establish Serre-Lusztig relations for $\imath$quantum groups in terms of $\imath$divided powers, which are an $\imath$-analog of Lusztig's higher order Serre relations for quantum groups. This has applications to braid group symmetries on $\imath$quantum groups.
We derive a generalization of the classical dynamical Yang-Baxter equation (CDYBE) on a self-dual Lie algebra $\cal G$ by replacing the cotangent bundle T^*G in a geometric interpretation of this equation by its Poisson-Lie (PL) analogue associated with a factorizable constant r-matrix on $\cal G$. The resulting PL-CDYBE, with variables in the Lie group G equipped with the Semenov-Tian-Shansky Poisson bracket based on the constant r-matrix, coincides with an equation that appeared in an earlier study of PL symmetries in the WZNW model. In addition to its new group theoretic interpretation, we …
We introduce a notion of left-symmetric bialgebra which is an analogue of the notion of Lie bialgebra. We prove that a left-symmetric bialgebra is equivalent to a symplectic Lie algebra with a decomposition into a direct sum of the underlying vector spaces of two Lagrangian subalgebras. The latter is called a parakähler Lie algebra or a phase space of a Lie algebra in mathematical physics. We introduce and study coboundary left-symmetric bialgebras and our study leads to what we call "$S$-equation", which is an analogue of the classical Yang-Baxter equation. In a certain sense, the $S$-equatio…
The classical Yang-Baxter equation (CYBE) is an algebraic equation central in the theory of integrable systems. Its solutions were classified by Belavin and Drinfeld. Quantization of CYBE led to the theory of quantum groups. A geometric interpretation of CDYB was given by Drinfeld and gave rise to the theory of Poisson-Lie groups. The classical dynamical Yang-Baxter equation (CDYBE) is an important differential equation analagous to CYBE and introduced by Felder as the consistency condition for the Knizhnik-Zamolodchikov-Bernard equations for correlation functions in conformal field theory on …
We examine classes of quantum algebras emerging from involutive, non-degenerate set-theoretic solutions of the Yang-Baxter equation and their q-analogues. After providing some universal results on quasi-bialgebras and admissible Drinfeld twists we show that the quantum algebras produced from set-theoretic solutions and their q-analogues are in fact quasi-triangular quasi-bialgebras. Specific illustrative examples compatible with our generic findings are worked out. In the q-deformed case of set-theoretic solutions we also construct admissible Drinfeld twists similar to the set-theoretic ones, …
We will introduce an operation "twisting" on Hochschild complex by analogy with Drinfeld's twisting operations. By using the twisting and derived bracket construction, we will study differential graded Lie algebra structures associated with bi-graded Hochschild complex. We will show that Rota-Baxter type operators are solutions of Maurer-Cartan equations. As an application of twisting, we will give a construction of associative Nijenhuis operators.
The hierarchy of commuting maps related to a set-theoretical solution of the quantum Yang-Baxter equation (Yang-Baxter map) is introduced. They can be considered as dynamical analogues of the monodromy and/or transfer-matrices. The general scheme of producing Yang-Baxter maps based on matrix factorisation is discussed in the context of the integrability problem for the corresponding dynamical systems. Some examples of birational Yang-Baxter maps coming from the theory of the periodic dressing chain and matrix KdV equation are discussed.
We construct Baxter operators for the homogeneous closed $\mathrm{XXX}$ spin chain with the quantum space carrying infinite or finite dimensional $s\ell_2$ representations. All algebraic relations of Baxter operators and transfer matrices are deduced uniformly from Yang-Baxter relations of the local building blocks of these operators. This results in a systematic and very transparent approach where the cases of finite and infinite dimensional representations are treated in analogy. Simple relations between the Baxter operators of both cases are obtained. We represent the quantum spaces by poly…
This paper introduces Hopf braces, a new algebraic structure related to the Yang-Baxter equation which include Rump's braces and their non-commutative generalizations as particular cases. Several results of classical braces are still valid in our context. Furthermore, Hopf braces provide the right setting for considering left symmetric algebras as Lie-theoretical analogs of braces.
A cohomology theory for multiplications and comultiplications of Frobenius algebras is developed in low dimensions in analogy with Hochschild cohomology of bialgebras based on deformation theory. Concrete computations are provided for key examples. Skein theoretic constructions give rise to solutions to the Yang-Baxter equation using multiplications and comultiplications of Frobenius algebras, and 2-cocycles are used to obtain deformations of R-matrices thus obtained.
Boundary solutions to the quantum Yang-Baxter (qYB) equation are defined to be those in the boundary of (but not in) the variety of solutions to the ``modified'' qYB equation, the latter being analogous to the modified classical Yang-Baxter (cYB) equation. We construct, for a large class of solutions $r$ to the modified cYB equation, explicit ``boundary quantizations'', i.e., boundary solutions to the qYB equation of the form $I+tr+ t^2r_{2} + ...$. In the last section we list and give quantizations for all classical r-matrices in $sl(3) \wedge sl(3)$.
We continue the study of free Baxter algebras. There are two goals of this paper. The first goal is to extend the construction of shuffle Baxter algebras to completions of Baxter algebras. This process is motivated by a construction of Cartier and is analogous to the process of completing a polynomial algebra to obtain a power series algebra. However, as we will see later, unlike the close similarity of properties of a polynomial algebra and a power series algebra, properties of a shuffle Baxter algebra and its completion can be quite different.
Twisted generalized Weyl algebras (TGWAs) are defined as the quotient of a certain graded algebra by the maximal graded ideal I with trivial zero component, analogous to how Kac-Moody algebras can be defined. In this paper we introduce the class of locally finite TGWAs, and show that one can associate to such an algebra a polynomial Cartan matrix (a notion extending the usual generalized Cartan matrices appearing in Kac-Moody algebra theory) and that the corresponding generalized Serre relations hold in the TGWA. We also give an explicit construction of a family of locally finite TGWAs dependi…
We construct boundary type operators satisfying fused reflection equation for arbitrary representations of the Baxterized affine Hecke algebra. These operators are analogues of the fused reflection matrices in solvable half-line spin chain models. We show that these operators lead to a family of commuting transfer matrices of Sklyanin type. We derive fusion type functional relations for these operators for two families of representations.
We consider Yang-Baxter equations arising from its associative analog and study corresponding exchange relations. They generate finite-dimensional quantum algebras which have form of coupled ${\rm GL}(N)$ Sklyanin elliptic algebras. Then we proceed to a natural generalization of the Baxter-Belavin quantum $R$-matrix to the case ${\rm Mat}(N,\mathbb C)^{\otimes 2}\otimes {\rm Mat}(M,\mathbb C)^{\otimes 2}$. It can be viewed as symmetric form of ${\rm GL}(NM)$ $R$-matrix in the sense that the Planck constant and the spectral parameter enter (almost) symmetrically. Such type (symmetric) $R$-matri…
Yang-Baxter (YB) map systems (or set-theoretic analoga of entwining YB structures) are presented. They admit zero curvature representations with spectral parameter depended Lax triples L1, L2, L3 derived from symplectic leaves of 2 x 2 binomial matrices equipped with the Sklyanin bracket. A unique factorization condition of the Lax triple implies a 3-dimensional compatibility property of these maps. In case L1 = L2 = L3 this property yields the se--theoretic quantum Yang-Baxter equation, i.e. the YB map property. By considering periodic 'staircase' initial value problems on quadrilateral latti…
Cycle sets are known to give non-degenerate unitary solutions of the Yang--Baxter equation and linear cycle sets are enriched versions of these algebraic systems. The paper explores the recently developed cohomology and extension theory for linear cycle sets. We derive a four term exact sequence relating 1-cocycles, second cohomology and certain groups of automorphisms arising from central extensions of linear cycle sets. This is an analogue of a similar exact sequence for group extensions known due to Wells. We also compare the exact sequence for linear cycle sets with that for their underlyi…
The quantum dynamical Yang-Baxter (QDYB) equation is a useful generalization of the quantum Yang-Baxter (QYB) equation introduced by Gervais, Neveu, and Felder. The QDYB equation and its quasiclassical analogue (the classical dynamical Yang-Baxter equation) arise in several areas of mathematics and mathematical physics (conformal field theory, integrable systems, representation theory). The most interesting solution of the QDYB equation is the elliptic solution, discovered by Felder. In this paper, we prove the first classification results for solutions of the QDYB equation. These results are …
We consider integrable vertex models whose Boltzmann weights (R-matrices) are trigonometric solutions to the graded Yang-Baxter equation. As is well known the latter can be generically constructed from quantum affine superalgebras $U_{q}(\hat g)$. These algebras do not form a symmetry algebra of the model for generic values of the deformation parameter $q$ when periodic boundary conditions are imposed. If $q$ is evaluated at a root of unity we demonstrate that in certain commensurate sectors one can construct non-abelian subalgebras which are translation invariant and supercommute with the tra…
Yang-Baxter relations symmetric with respect to the ortho-symplectic superalgebras are studied. We start from the formulation of graded algebras and the linear superspace carrying the vector (fundamental) representation of the ortho-symplectic supergroup. On this basis we study the analogy of the Yang-Baxter operators considered earlier for the cases of orthogonal and symplectic symmetries: the vector (fundamental) R matrix, the L operator defining the Yangian algebra and its first and second order evaluations. We investigate the condition for L(u) in the case of the truncated expansion in inv…
A class of non-associative and non-coassociative generalizations of cobraided bialgebras, called cobraided Hom-bialgebras, is introduced. The non-(co)associativity in a cobraided Hom-bialgebra is controlled by a twisting map. Several methods for constructing cobraided Hom-bialgebras are given. In particular, Hom-type generalizations of FRT quantum groups, including quantum matrices and related quantum groups, are obtained. Each cobraided Hom-bialgebra comes with solutions of the operator quantum Hom-Yang-Baxter equations, which are twisted analogues of the operator form of the quantum Yang-Bax…
We study a general ansatz for an odd supersymmetric version of the Kronecker elliptic function, which satisfies the genus one Fay identity. The obtained result is used for construction of the odd supersymmetric analogue for the classical and quantum elliptic $R$-matrices. They are shown to satisfy the classical Yang-Baxter equation and the associative Yang-Baxter equation. The quantum Yang-Baxter is discussed as well. It acquires additional term in the case of supersymmetric $R$-matrices.
The purpose of this paper is to study the $\mathcal{O}$-operators on Malcev algebras and discuss the solutions of Malcev Yang-Baxter equation by $\mathcal{O}$-operators. Furthermore we introduce the notion of weighted $\mathcal{O}$-operators on Malcev algebras, which can be characterized by graphs of the semi-direct product Malcev algebra. Then we introduce a new algebraic structure called post-Malcev algebras. Therefore, post-Malcev algebras can be viewed as the underlying algebraic structures of weighted $\mathcal{O}$-operators on Malcev algebras. A post-Malcev algebra also gives rise to a n…
Let $r:X^{2}\rightarrow X^{2}$ be a set-theoretic solution of the Yang-Baxter equation on a finite set $X$. It was proven by Gateva-Ivanova and Van den Bergh that if $r$ is non-degenerate and involutive then the algebra $K\langle x \in X \mid xy =uv \mbox{ if } r(x,y)=(u,v)\rangle$ shares many properties with commutative polynomial algebras in finitely many variables; in particular this algebra is Noetherian, satisfies a polynomial identity and has Gelfand-Kirillov dimension a positive integer. Lebed and Vendramin recently extended this result to arbitrary non-degenerate bijective solutions. S…
Generalized Baxter's relations on the transfer-matrices (also known as Baxter's TQ relations) are constructed and proved for an arbitrary untwisted quantum affine algebra. Moreover, we interpret them as relations in the Grothendieck ring of the category O introduced by Jimbo and the second author in arXiv:1104.1891 involving infinite-dimensional representations constructed in arXiv:1104.1891, which we call here "prefundamental". We define the transfer-matrices associated to the prefundamental representations and prove that their eigenvalues on any finite-dimensional representation are polynomi…
We introduce a Hom-type generalization of quantum groups, called quasi-triangular Hom-bialgebras. They are non-associative and non-coassociative analogues of Drinfel'd's quasi-triangular bialgebras, in which the non-(co)associativity is controlled by a twisting map. A family of quasi-triangular Hom-bialgebras can be constructed from any quasi-triangular bialgebra, such as Drinfel'd's quantum enveloping algebras. Each quasi-triangular Hom-bialgebra comes with a solution of the quantum Hom-Yang-Baxter equation, which is a non-associative version of the quantum Yang-Baxter equation. Solutions of …
We introduce an analog of the Maxwell operator on a q-Minkowski space algebra (treated as a particular case of the so-called Reflection Equation Algebra) and on certain of its quotients. We treat the space of "quantum differential forms" as a projective module in the spirit of the Serre-Swan approach. Also, we use "braided tangent vector fields" which are q-analogs of Poisson vector fields associated to the Lie bracket sl(2).
We construct an associative algebra with a decomposition into the direct sum of the underlying vector spaces of another associative algebra and its dual space such that both of them are subalgebras and the natural symmetric bilinear form is invariant or the natural antisymmetric bilinear form is a Connes cocycle. The former is called a double construction of Frobenius algebra and the latter is called a double construction of Connes cocycle which is interpreted in terms of dendriform algebras. Both of them are equivalent to a kind of bialgebras, namely, antisymmetric infinitesimal bialgebras an…
Two different types of centrally extended quantum reflection algebras are introduced. Realizations in terms of the elements of the central extension of the Yang-Baxter algebra are exhibited. A coaction map is identified. For the special case of $U_q(\hat{sl_2})$, a realization in terms of elements satisfying the Zamolodchikov-Faddeev algebra - a `boundary' analog of Miki's formula - is also proposed, providing a free field realization of $O_q(\hat{sl_2})$ (q-Onsager) currents.
