Let V be a simple vertex operator algebra and G a finite automorphism group. Then there is a natural right G-action on the set of all inequivalent irreducible V-modules. Let S be a finite set of inequivalent irreducible V-modules which is closed under the action of G. There is a finite dimensional semisimple associative algebra A_α(G,S) for a suitable 2-cocycle αnaturally determined by the G-action on S such that A_α(G,S) and the vertex operator algebra V^G form a dual pair on the sum of V-modules in S in the sense of Howe. In particular, every irreducible V-module is completely reducible V^G-module.
Let A be a finite dimensional Hopf algebra and (H, R) a quasitriangular bialgebra. Denote by H^*_R a certain deformation of the multiplication of H^* via R. We prove that H^*_R is a quantum commutative left H\otimes H^{op cop}-module algebra. If H is the Drinfel'd double of A then H^*_R is the Heisenberg double of A. We study the relation between H^*_R and Majid's "covariantised product". We give a formula for the canonical element of the Heisenberg double of A, solution to the pentagon equation, in terms of the R-matrix of the Drinfel'd double of A. We generalize a theorem of Jiang-Hua Lu on …
For the simple Lie algebra $ \frak{so}_m$, we study the commutant vertex operator algebra of $ L_{\hat{\frak{so}}_{m}}(n,0)$ in the $n$-fold tensor product $ L_{\hat{\frak{so}}_{m}}(1,0)^{\otimes n}$. It turns out that this commutant vertex operator algebra can be realized as a fixed point subalgebra of $L_{\hat{\frak{so}}_{n}}(m,0)$ (or its simple current extension) associated with a certain abelian group. This result may be viewed as a version of level-rank duality.
We study the simple Bershadsky-Polyakov algebra $\mathcal W_k = \mathcal{W}_k(sl_3,f_θ)$ at positive integer levels and classify their irreducible modules. In this way we confirm the conjecture from arXiv:1910.13781. Next, we study the case $k=1$. We discover that this vertex algebra has a Kazama-Suzuki-type dual isomorphic to the simple afine vertex superalgebra $L_{k'} (osp(1 \vert 2))$ for $k'=-5/4$. Using the free-field realization of $L_{k'} (osp(1 \vert 2))$ from arXiv:1711.11342, we get a free-field realization of $\mathcal W_k$ and their highest weight modules. In a sequel, we plan to …

The representation theory of the Drinfeld doubles of dihedral groups is used to solve the Yang-Baxter equation. Use of the 2-dimensional representations recovers the six-vertex model solution. Solutions in arbitrary dimensions, which are viewed as descendants of the six-vertex model case, are then obtained using tensor product graph methods which were originally formulated for quantum algebras. Connections with the Fateev-Zamolodchikov model are discussed.
The shadow V' of a self-dual vertex operator superalgebra V is defined as the direct sum of the irreducible modules of its even vertex operator subalgebra $V_{(0)}$ not contained in $V=V_{(0)}+V_{(1)}$. We describe the self-dual ``very nice'' unitary rational vertex operator superalgebras V of rank c whose shadows have the largest possible minimal weights c/8 or c/8-1. The results are analogous to and imply the corresponding results for self-dual binary codes and lattices.
The Yangian double $\text{DY}_{\hbar}(\mathfrak{g}_N)$ is introduced for the classical types of $\mathfrak{g}_N=\mathfrak{o}_{2n+1}$, $\mathfrak{sp}_{2n}$, $\mathfrak{o}_{2n}$. Via the Gauss decomposition of the generator matrix, the Yangian double is given the Drinfeld presentation. In addition, bosonization of level $1$ realizations for the Yangian double $\text{DY}_{\hbar}(\mathfrak{g}_N)$ of non-simply-laced types are explicitly constructed.
Let $V$ be a vertex algebra of countable dimension, $G$ a subgroup of ${\rm Aut} V$ of finite order, $V^{G}$ the fixed point subalgebra of $V$ under the action of $G$, and ${\mathscr S}$ a finite $G$-stable set of inequivalent irreducible twisted weak $V$-modules associated with possibly different automorphisms in $G$. We show a Schur--Weyl type duality for the actions of ${\mathscr A}_α(G,{\mathscr S})$ and $V^G$ on the direct sum of twisted weak $V$-modules in ${\mathscr S}$ where ${\mathscr A}_α(G,{\mathscr S})$ is a finite dimensional semisimple associative algebra associated with $G,{\mat…
We give a survey on the developments in a certain theory of quantum vertex algebras, including a conceptual construction of quantum vertex algebras and their modules and a connection of double Yangians and Zamolodchikov-Faddeev algebras with quantum vertex algebras.
Vertex operator realizations of symplectic and orthogonal Schur functions are studied and expanded. New proofs of determinant identities of irreducible characters for the symplectic and orthogonal groups are given. We also give a new proof of the duality between the universal orthogonal and symplectic Schur functions using vertex operators.
We consider the algebraic structure of $\mathbb{N}$-graded vertex operator algebras with conformal grading $V=\oplus_{n\geq 0} V_n$ and $\dim V_0\geq 1$. We prove several results along the lines that the vertex operators $Y(a, z)$ for $a$ in a Levi factor of the Leibniz algebra $V_1$ generate an affine Kac-Moody subVOA. If $V$ arises as a shift of a self-dual VOA of CFT-type, we show that $V_0$ has a `de Rham structure' with many of the properties of the de Rham cohomology of a complex connected manifold equipped with Poincaré duality.
We notice that for any positive integer $k$, the set of $(1,2)$-specialized characters of level $k$ standard $A_{1}^{(1)}$-modules is the same as the set of rescaled graded dimensions of the subspaces of level $2k+1$ standard $A_{2}^{(2)}$-modules that are vacuum spaces for the action of the principal Heisenberg subalgebra of $A_{2}^{(2)}$. We conjecture the existence of a semisimple category induced by the "equal level" representations of some algebraic structure which would naturally explain this duality-like property, and we study potential such structures in the context of generalized vert…
The new general upper bound mu <= [c/24] + 1 for the minimal weight mu of a self-dual vertex operator superalgebra of central charge c different from 47/2 is proven. For central charges c <= 48, further improved estimates are given and examples of with large minimal weight are discussed. We also study the case of vertex operator superalgebras with N=1 supersymmetry which was first considered by Witten in connection with three-dimensional quantum gravity. The upper bound mu^* <= (1/2)[c/12]+1/2 for the minimal superconformal weight is obtained for c different from 47/2. In addition, we show tha…
Finite XXZ chain with double boundaries is considered at critical regime $-1<Δ<1$. We construct the eigenvectors of finite Hamiltonian by means of vertex operators and the quasi-boundary states. Using the free field realizations of the vertex operators and the quasi-boundary states, integral representations for the correlation functions are derived.
In this note we analyse the Lie algebras of physical states stemming from lattice constructions on general even, self-dual lattices Gamma^{p,q} with p greater or equal to q. It is known that if the lattice is at most Lorentzian, the resulting Lie algebra is of generalized Kac-Moody type (or has a quotient that is). We show that this is not true as soon as q is larger than 1. By studying a certain sublattice in the case q>1 we obtain results that lead to the conjecture that the resulting non-GKM Lie algebra cannot be described conveniently in terms of generators and relations and belongs to a n…
We define new deformable families of vertex operator algebras $\mathfrak{A}[\mathfrak{g}, Ψ, σ]$ associated to a large set of S-duality operations in four-dimensional supersymmetric gauge theory. They are defined as algebras of protected operators for two-dimensional supersymmetric junctions which interpolate between a Dirichlet boundary condition and its S-duality image. The $\mathfrak{A}[\mathfrak{g}, Ψ, σ]$ VOAs are equipped with two $\mathfrak{g}$ affine vertex subalgebras whose levels are related by the S-duality operation. They compose accordingly under a natural convolution operation an…
Huang, Lepowsky and Zhang have developed a module theory for vertex operator algebras that endows suitably chosen module categories with the structure of braided monoidal categories. Included in the theory is a functor which assigns to discretely strongly graded modules a contragredient module, obtained as a gradewise dual. In this paper, we show that this gradewise dual endows the module category with the structure of a ribbon Grothendieck-Verdier category. This duality structure is more general than that of a rigid monoidal category; in contrast to rigidity, it naturally accommodates the fac…
The Heisenberg double of a Hopf algebra may be regarded as a quantum analogue of the cotangent bundle of a Lie group. Quantum duality principle describes relations between a Hopf algebra, its dual, and their Heisenberg double in a way which extends both the theory of coadjoint orbits and the classical Fourier transform. We also describe the twisted Heisenberg double which is relevant for the study of nontrivial deformations of the quantized universal enveloping algebras.
We introduce a subalgebra $\overline F$ of the Clifford vertex superalgebra ($bc$ system) which is completely reducible as a $L^{Vir} (-2,0)$-module, $C_2$-cofinite, but it is not conformal and it is not isomorphic to the symplectic fermion algebra $\mathcal{SF}(1)$. We show that $\mathcal{SF}(1)$ and $\overline{F}$ are in an interesting duality, since $\overline{F}$ can be equipped with the structure of a $\mathcal{SF}(1)$-module and vice versa. Using the decomposition of $\overline F$ and a free-field realization from arXiv:1711.11342, we decompose $L_k(\mathfrak{osp}(1\vert 2))$ at the crit…
Let $H$ be a $\times$-bialgebra in the sense of Takeuchi. We show that if $H$ is $\times$-Hopf, and if $H$ fulfills the finiteness condition necessary to define its skew dual $H^\vee$, then the coopposite of the latter is $\times$-Hopf as well. If in addition the coopposite $\times$-bialgebra of $H$ is $\times$-Hopf, then the coopposite of the Drinfeld double of $H$ is $\times$-Hopf, as is the Drinfeld double itself, under an additional finiteness condition.
Using vertex operators, we build representations of the Yangian of a simply laced Kac-Moody algebra and of its double. As a corollary, we prove the PBW property for simply laced affine Yangians.
Let $V$ be a simple vertex operator algebra containing a rank $n$ Heisenberg vertex algebra $H$ and let $C=\text{Com}\left( {H}, {V}\right)$ be the coset of ${H}$ in ${V}$. Assuming that the representation categories of interest are vertex tensor categories in the sense of Huang, Lepowsky and Zhang, a Schur-Weyl type duality for both simple and indecomposable but reducible modules is proven. Families of vertex algebra extensions of ${C}$ are found and every simple ${C}$-module is shown to be contained in at least one ${V}$-module. A corollary of this is that if ${V}$ is rational and $C_2$-cofi…
For any finite-dimensional Hopf algebra $A$ there exists a natural associative algebra homomorphism $D(A) \to H(A)$ between its Drinfeld double $D(A)$ and its Heisenberg double $H(A)$. We construct this homomorphism using a pair of commuting quantum moment maps, and then use it to provide a homomorphism of certain reflection equation algebras. We also explain how the quantization of the Grothendieck-Springer resolution arises in this context.
The notion of vertex operator coalgebra is presented which corresponds to the family of correlation functions of one string propagating in space-time splitting into n strings in conformal field theory. This notion is in some sense dual to the notion of vertex operator algebra. We prove that any vertex operator algebra equipped with a non-degenerate, Virasoro preserving, bilinear form gives rise to a corresponding vertex operator coalgebra.
Let $G$ be a simple complex Lie group with Lie algebra $\mf g$ and let $\af$ be the affine Lie algebra. We use intertwining operators and Knizhnik-Zamolodchikov equations to construct a family of $\N$-graded vertex operator algebras associated to $\mf g$. They are $\af \oplus \af$-modules of dual levels $k, \bar k \notin \Q$ in the sense that $k + \bar k = -2 h^\vee$ where $h^\vee$ is the dual Coxeter number of $\mf g$. Its conformal weight 0 component is the algebra of regular functions on $G$. This family of vertex operator algebras were previously studied by Arkhipov-Gaitsgory and Gorbounov…
We determine a substantial part of the unitary representation theory of the Drinfeld double of a $q$-deformation of a compact Lie group in terms of the complexification of the compact Lie group. Using this, we show that the dual of every $q$-deformation of a higher rank compact Lie group has central property ${\rm (T)}$. We also determine the unitary dual of $SL_q(n,\mathbb{C})$.
We review and extend the vertex algebra framework linking gauge theory constructions and a quantum deformation of the Geometric Langlands Program. The relevant vertex algebras are associated to junctions of two boundary conditions in a 4d gauge theory and can be constructed from the basic ones by following certain standard procedures. Conformal blocks of modules over these vertex algebras give rise to twisted D-modules on the moduli stacks of G-bundles on Riemann surfaces which have applications to the Langlands Program. In particular, we construct a series of vertex algebras for every simple …
We prove some conjectures about vertex algebras which emerge in gauge theory constructions associated to the geometric Langlands program. In particular, we present the conjectural kernel vertex algebra for the $S T^2 S$ duality transformation in $SU(2)$ gauge theory. We find a surprising coincidence, which gives a powerful hint about the nature of the corresponding duality wall. Concretely, we determine the branching rules for the small $N=4$ superconformal algebra at central charge $-9$ as well as for the generic large $N=4$ superconformal algebra at central charge $-6$. Moreover we obtain th…
Double (quasi-)Poisson algebras were introduced by Van den Bergh as non-commutative analogues of algebras endowed with a (quasi-)Poisson bracket. In this work, we provide a study of morphisms of double (quasi-)Poisson algebras, which we relate to the $H_0$-Poisson structures of Crawley-Boevey. We prove in particular that the double (quasi-)Poisson algebra structure defined by Van den Bergh for an arbitrary quiver only depends upon the quiver seen as an undirected graph, up to isomorphism. We derive from our results a representation theoretic description of action-angle duality for several clas…
