In a Wigner quantum mechanical model, with a solution in terms of the Lie superalgebra gl(1|n), one is faced with determining the eigenvalues and eigenvectors for an arbitrary self-adjoint odd element of gl(1|n) in any unitary irreducible representation W. We show that the eigenvalue problem can be solved by the decomposition of W with respect to the branching gl(1|n) --> gl(1|1) + gl(n-1). The eigenvector problem is much harder, since the Gel'fand-Zetlin basis of W is involved, and the explicit actions of gl(1|n) generators on this basis are fairly complicated. Using properties of the Gel'fand-Zetlin basis, we manage to present a solution for this problem as well. Our solution is illustrated for two special classes of unitary gl(1|n) representations: the so-called Fock representations and the ladder representations.
The notion of "N = 2 vertex superalgebra with two odd formal variables" is presented, the main axiom being a Jacobi identity with odd formal variables in which an N=2 superconformal shift is incorporated into the usual Jacobi identity for a vertex superalgebra. It is shown that as a consequence of these axioms, the N=2 vertex superalgebra is naturally a representation of the Lie algebra isomorphic to the three-dimensional algebra of superderivations with basis consisting of the usual conformal operator and the two N=2 superconformal operators. The notion of N=2 Neveu-Schwarz vertex operator su…
We consider antiPoisson superalgebra realized on the smooth Grassmann-valued functions of the form ξf_0(x)+f_1(x), where f_0 has compact support on R, and with the parity opposite to that of the Grassmann superalgebra realized on these functions. The deformations with even and odd deformation parameters of this superalgebra are found.
We consider antibracket superalgebras realized on the smooth Grassmann-valued functions with compact supports in n-dimensional space and with the grading inverse to Grassmanian parity. The deformations with even and odd deformation parameters of these superalgebras are presented for arbitrary n.
We construct explicit formulae for the eigenvalues of certain invariants of the Lie superalgebra gl(m|n) using characteristic identities. We discuss how such eigenvalues are related to reduced Wigner coefficients and the reduced matrix elements of generators, and thus provide a first step to a new algebraic derivation of matrix element formulae for all generators of the algebra.
In this paper we study metric deformations of indecomposable metric Lie superalgebras with dimensions less or equal to 6. We consider formal deformations obtained by even cocycles, because the odd ones can not be used for constructing formal deformations.
We describe an essential improvement of our recent algorithm for computing cohomology of Lie (super)algebra based on partition of the whole cochain complex into minimal subcomplexes. We replace the arithmetic of rational numbers or integers by a much cheaper arithmetic of a modular field and use the inequality between the dimensions of cohomology H over any modular field F_p = Z/pZ and over Q: dim H(F_p) >= dim H(Q). With this inequality we can, by computing over arbitrary F_p, quickly find the (usually, rare) subcomplexes for which dim H(F_p) > 0 and then carry out the full computation over Q…
This note is devoted to a more detailed description of one of the five simple exceptional Lie superalgebras of vector fields, cvect(0|3)_*, a subalgebra of vect(4|3). We derive differential equations for its elements, and solve these equations. Hence we get an exact form for the elements of cvect(0|3)_*. Moreover we realize cvect(0|3)_* by "glued" pairs of generating functions on a (3|3)-dimensional periplectic (odd symplectic) supermanifold and describe the bracket explicitly.
In this paper fundamental Wigner coefficients are determined algebraically by considering the eigenvalues of certain generalized Casimir invariants. Here this method is applied in the context of both type 1 and type 2 unitary representations of the Lie superalgebra gl(mjn). Extensions to the non-unitary case are investigated. A symmetry relation between two classes of Wigner coefficients is given in terms of a ratio of dimensions.
We extend equal rank embedding of reductive Lie algebras to that of basic Lie superalgebras. The Kac character formulas for equal rank embedding are derived in terms of subalgebras and Kostant's cubic Dirac operator for equal rank embedding of Lie superalgebras is constructed from both even and odd generators and their related structure constants.
We utilise characteristic identities to construct eigenvalue formulae for invariants and reduced matrix elements corresponding to irreducible representations of osp(m|n). In presenting these results, we further develop our programme of constructive representation theory via characteristic identities.
We develop explicit formulae for the eigenvalues of various invariants for highest weight irreducible representations of the quantum supergroup $U_q[gl(m|n)]$. The techniques employed make use of modified characteristic identity methods and allow for the evaluation of generator matrix elements and reduced Wigner coefficients.
The superalgebra eigenstates (SAES) concept is introduced and then applied to find the SAES associated to the $sh(2/2)$ superalgebra, also known as Heisenberg--Weyl Lie superalgebra. This implies to solve a Grassmannian eigenvalue superequation. Thus, the $sh(2/2)$ SAES contain the class of supercoherent states associated to the supersymmetric harmonic oscillator and also a class of supersqueezed states associated to the $osp(2/2) \sdir sh(2/2)$ superalgebra, where $osp(2/2)$ denotes the orthosymplectic Lie superalgebra generated by the set of operators formed from the quadratic products of th…
A linear odd Poisson bracket realized solely in terms of Grassmann variables is suggested. It is revealed that with the bracket, corresponding to a semi-simple Lie group, both a Grassmann-odd Casimir function and invariant (with respect to this group) nilpotent differential operators of the first, second and third orders are naturally related and enter into a finite-dimensional Lie superalgebra. A connection of the quantities, forming this Lie superalgebra, with the BRST charge, $Δ$-operator and ghost number operator is indicated.
We develop a general theory of $W$-algebras in the context of supersymmetric vertex algebras. We describe the structure of $W$-algebras associated with odd nilpotent elements of Lie superalgebras in terms of their free generating sets. As an application, we produce explicit free generators of the $W$-algebra associated with the odd principal nilpotent element of the Lie superalgebra $\mathfrak{gl}(n+1|n).$
In this paper, we study Lie superalgebras of $2\times 2$ matrix-valued first-order differential operators on the complex line. We first completely classify all such superalgebras of finite dimension. Among the finite-dimensional superalgebras whose odd subspace is nontrivial, we find those admitting a finite-dimensional invariant module of smooth vector-valued functions, and classify all the resulting finite-dimensional modules. The latter Lie superalgebras and their modules are the building blocks in the construction of QES quantum mechanical models for spin 1/2 particles in one dimension.
We consider Lie superalgebras under constraints of Hamiltonian reduction, yielding finite $W$-superalgebras which provide candidates for quadratic spacetime superalgebras. These have an undeformed bosonic symmetry algebra (even generators) graded by a fermionic sector (supersymmetry generators) with anticommutator brackets which are quadratic in the even generators. We analyze the reduction of several Lie superalgebras of type $gl(M|N)$ or $osp(M|2N)$ at the classical (Poisson bracket) level, and also establish their quantum (Lie bracket) equivalents. Purely bosonic extensions are also conside…
An analytic Bethe ansatz is carried out related to the type 1 Lie superalgebra C(s). We present eigenvalue formulae of transfer matrices in dressed vacuum form (DVF) labeled by Young superdiagrams with one row or one column. We also propose an DVF related to a one parameter family of finite dimensional irreducible representations. A class of transfer matrix functional relations among these formulae is discussed.
The symmetries provided by representations of the centrally extended Lie superalgebra $\mathfrak{psl}(2|2)$ are known to play an important role in the spin chain models originated in the planar anti-de Sitter/conformal field theory correspondence and one-dimensional Hubbard model. We give a complete description of finite-dimensional irreducible representations of this superalgebra thus extending the work of Beisert which deals with a generic family of representations. Our description includes a new class of modules with degenerate eigenvalues of the central elements. Moreover, we construct exp…
In the Coxeter group W(R) generated by the root system R, let T(R) be the number of conjugacy classes having no eigenvalue 1 and let S(R) be the number of conjugacy classes having no eigenvalue -1. The algebra H{R) of observables of the rational Calogero model based on the root system R possesses T(R) independent traces, the same algebra considered as an associative superalgebra with respect to a certain natural parity possesses S(R) even independent supertraces and no odd trace or supertrace. The numbers T(R) and S(R) are determined for all irreducible root systems (hence for all root systems…
We study the linear differential system associated with the supersymmetric affine Toda field equations for affine Lie superalgebras, which has a purely odd simple root system. For an affine Lie algebra, the linear problem modified by conformal transformation leads to an ordinary differential equation (ODE) that provides the functional relations in the integrable models. This is known as the ODE/IM correspondence. For the affine Lie superalgebras, the linear equations modified by a superconformal transformation are shown to reduce to a couple of ODEs for each bosonic subalgebra. In particular, …
Using our recent results on eigenvalues of invariants associated to the Lie superalgebra gl(m|n), we use characteristic identities to derive explicit matrix element formulae for all gl(m|n) generators, particularly non-elementary generators, on finite dimensional type 1 unitary irreducible representations. We compare our results with existing works that deal with only subsets of the class of type 1 unitary representations, all of which only present explicit matrix elements for elementary generators. Our work therefore provides an important extension to existing methods, and thus highlights the…
The standard format of matrices belonging to Lie superalgebras consists of partitioning the matrices into even and odd blocks. In this paper, we study other possible matrix formats and in particular the so-called diagonal format which naturally occurs in various applications, e.g. in superconformal field theory, superintegrable models, for super W-algebras and quantum supergroups.
From the point of view of the Young superdiagrm method, an analytic Bethe ansatz is carried out for Lie superalgebra sl(r+1|s+1). For the transfer matrix eigenvalue formulae in dressed vacuum form, we present some expressions, which are quantum analogue of Jacobi-Trudi and Giambelli formulae for Lie superalgebra sl(r+1|s+1). We also propose transfer matrix functional relations, which are Hirota bilinear difference equation with some constraints.
A Schroedinger type equation on the superspace R^{D|2n} is studied, which involves a potential inversely proportional to the negative of the osp(D|2n) invariant "distance" away from the origin. An osp(2,D+1|2n) dynamical supersymmetry for the system is explicitly constructed, and the bound states of the system are shown to form an irreducible highest weight module for this superalgebra. A thorough understanding of the structure of the irreducible module is obtained. This in particular enables the determination of the energy eigenvalues and the corresponding eigenspaces as well as their respect…
An analytic Bethe ansatz is carried out related to tensor-like representations of the type II Lie superalgebras B(r|s)=osp(2r+1|2s) (r > -1, s >0) and D(r|s)=osp(2r|2s) (r >1, s >0). We present eigenvalue formulae of transfer matrices in dressed vacuum forms labeled by Young (super) diagrams. A class of transfer matrix functional relations (T-system) is discussed. In particular for B(0|s)=osp(1|2s)(s >0) case, a complete set of functional relations is proposed by using duality among dressed vacuum forms.
A new, so called odd Gel'fand-Zetlin basis is introduced for the irreducible covariant tensor representations of the Lie superalgebra gl(n|n). The related Gel'fand-Zetlin patterns are based upon the decomposition according to a particular chain of subalgebras of gl(n|n). This chain contains only genuine Lie superalgebras of type gl(k|l) with k and l nonzero (apart from the final element of the chain which is gl(1|0)=gl(1)). Explicit expressions for a set of generators of the algebra on this Gel'fand-Zetlin basis are determined. The results are extended to an explicit construction of a class of…
In this paper, we consider the perturbations of the Harmonic Oscillator Operator by an odd pair of point interactions: $z (δ(x - b) - δ(x + b))$. We study the spectrum by analyzing a convenient formula for the eigenvalue. We conclude that if $z = ir$, $r$ real, as $r \to \infty$, the number of non-real eigenvalues tends to infinity.
The odd reflections are an effective tool in the Lie superalgebra representation theory, as they relate non-conjugate Borel subalgebras. We introduce analogues of the odd reflections for the Yangian ${\rm Y}({\frak gl}_{m|n})$ and use them to produce a transition rule for the parameters of the highest weight modules corresponding to a change of the parity sequence. This leads to a description of the finite-dimensional irreducible representations of the Yangian associated with an arbitrary parity sequence.
As is well known, the type 1 Lie superalgebra sl(r+1|s+1) admits a one parameter family of finite dimensional irreducible representations. We have carried out an analytic Bethe ansatz related to this family of representations. We present formulae, which are deformations of previously proposed determinant formulae labeled by a Young superdiagram. These formulae will provide transfer matrix eigenvalues in dressed vacuum form related to the solutions of a graded Yang-Baxter equation, which depend not only on the spectral parameter but also on a non-additive continuous parameter. A class of transf…
A linear odd Poisson bracket (antibracket) realized solely in terms of Grassmann variables is suggested. It is revealed that the bracket, which corresponds to a semi-simple Lie group, has at once three Grassmann-odd nilpotent $Δ$-like differential operators of the first, the second and the third orders with respect to Grassmann derivatives, in contrast with the canonical odd Poisson bracket having the only Grassmann-odd nilpotent differential $Δ$-operator of the second order. It is shown that these $Δ$-like operators together with a Grassmann-odd nilpotent Casimir function of this bracket form…
The Lie superalgebra sl(r+1|s+1) admits several inequivalent choices of simple root systems. We have carried out analytic Bethe ansatz for any simple root systems of sl(r+1|s+1). We present transfer matrix eigenvalue formulae in dressed vacuum form, which are expressed as the Young supertableaux with some semistandard-like conditions. These formulae have determinant expressions, which can be viewed as quantum analogue of Jacobi-Trudi and Giambelli formulae for sl(r+1|s+1). We also propose a class of transfer matrix functional relations, which is specialization of Hirota bilinear difference equ…
It is shown that the Clifford superalgebra Cl(n|m) generated by m pairs of Bose operators (odd elements) anticommuting with n pairs of Fermi operators (even elements) can be deformed to Cl_q(n|m) such that the latter is a homomorphic image of the quantum superalgebra U_q[osp(2n+1|2m)]. The Fock space F(n|m) of Cl_q(n|m) is constructed. At q being a root of unity (q=\exp ({iπl/k})) q-bosons (and q-fermions) are operators acting in a finite-dimensional subspace F_{l/k}(n|m) of F(n|m). Each F_{l/k}(n|m) is turned through the above mentioned homomorphism into an irreducible (root of unity) U_q[osp…
