Links of factorization theory, supersymmetry and Darboux transformations as isospectral deformations are considered in the context of quantum theory. The infinite chain equations for factorizing operators for a spectral problem are derived. A closure of the chain defines a symmetry of the system. Examples of matrix-differential operators of Pauli and Dirac type are analyzed.
It is explained how the time evolution of the operadic variables may be introduced by using the operadic Lax equation. The operadic Lax representations for the harmonic oscillator are constructed in 3-dimensional binary anti-commutative algebras. As an example, an operadic Lax representation for the harmonic oscillator in the Lie algebra sl(2) is constructed.
We derive the $2$d Zakharov-Mikhailov action from $4$d Chern-Simons theory. This $2$d action is known to produce as equations of motion the flatness condition of a large class of Lax connections of Zakharov-Shabat type, which includes an ultralocal variant of the principal chiral model as a special case. At the $2$d level, we determine for the first time the covariant Poisson bracket $r$-matrix structure of the Zakharov-Shabat Lax connection, which is of rational type. The flatness condition is then derived as a covariant Hamilton equation. We obtain a remarkable formula for the covariant Hami…
Polynomials in differentiation operators are considered. The Darboux transformations covariance determines non-Abelian entries to form the coefficients of the polynomials. Joint covariance of a pair of such polynomials (Lax pair) as a function of one-field is studied. Methodically, the transforms of the coefficients are equalized to Frechet derivatives (first term of the Taylor series on prolonged space) to establish the operator forms. In the commutative (Abelian) case that results in binary Bell (Faa de Bruno) differential polynomials having natural bilinear representation. The example of ge…
The general approach to chain equations derivation for the function generated by a Miura transformation analog is developing to account evolution (second Lax equation) and illustrated for Sturm-Liouville differential and difference operators. Polynomial differential operators case is investigated. Covariant sets of potentials are introduced by a periodic chain closure. The symmetry of the system of equation with respect to permutations of the potentials is used for the direct construction of solutions of the chain equations. A "time" evolution associated with some Lax pair is incorporated in t…
We bring together aspects of covariant Hamiltonian field theory and of classical integrable field theories in $1+1$ dimensions. Specifically, our main result is to obtain for the first time the classical $r$-matrix structure within a covariant Poisson bracket for the Lax connection, or Lax one form. This exhibits a certain covariant nature of the classical $r$-matrix with respect to the underlying spacetime variables. The main result is established by means of several prototypical examples of integrable field theories, all equipped with a Zakharov-Shabat type Lax pair. Full details are present…
A new class of infinite-dimensional Lie algebras given a name of Lax operator algebras, and the related unifying approach to finite-dimensional integrable systems with spectral parameter on a Riemann surface, such as Calogero--Moser and Hitchin systems, are presented. In particular, our approach includes (the non-twisted) Kac--Moody algebras and integrable systems with rational spectral parameter. The presentation is based on the quite simple ideas related to gradings of semisimple Lie algebras, and their interaction with the Riemann--Roch theorem. The basic properties of the Lax operator alge…
We introduce integrable multicomponent non-commutative lattice systems, which can be considered as analogs of the modified Gel'fand-Dikii hierarchy. We present the corresponding systems of Lax pairs and we show directly multidimensional consistency of these Gel'fand-Dikii type equations. We demonstrate how the systems can be obtained as periodic reductions of the non-commutative lattice Kadomtsev-Petviashvilii hierarchy. The geometric description of the hierarchy in terms of Desargues maps helps to derive non-isospectral generalization of the non-commutative lattice modified Gel'fand-Dikii sys…
Fully Poincaré covariant quantum field theories on non-commutative Moyal Minkowski spacetime so far have been considered in their vacuum representations, i.e. at zero temperature. Here we report on work in progress regarding their thermal representations, corresponding to physical states at non-zero temperature, which turn out to be markedly different from both, thermal representations of quantum field theory on commutative Minkowski spacetime, and such representations of non-covariant quantum field theory on Moyal Minkowski space with a fixed deformation matrix.
The aim of this paper is to compare the two topos-theoretic approaches to quantum mechanics that may be found in the literature to date. The first approach, which we will call the contravariant approach, was originally proposed by Isham and Butterfield, and was later extended by Doering and Isham. The second approach, which we will call the covariant approach, was developed by Heunen, Landsman and Spitters. Motivated by coarse-graining and the Kochen-Specker theorem, the contravariant approach uses the topos of presheaves on a specific context category, defined as the poset of commutative von …
We study double integral representations of Christoffel-Darboux kernels associated with two examples of Hermite-type matrix orthogonal polynomials. We show that the Fredholm determinants connected with these kernels are related through the Its-Izergin-Korepin-Slavnov (IIKS) theory with a certain Riemann-Hilbert problem. Using this Riemann-Hilbert problem we obtain a Lax pair whose compatibility conditions lead to a non-commutative version of the Painleve' IV differential equation for each family.
We construct a non-commutative kappa-Minkowski deformation of U(1) gauge theory, following a general approach, recently proposed in JHEP 2008 (2020) 041. We obtain an exact (all orders in the non-commutativity parameter) expression for both the deformed gauge transformations and the deformed field strength, which is covariant under these transformations. The corresponding Yang-Mills Lagrangian is gauge covariant and reproduces the Maxwell Lagrangian in the commutative limit. Gauge invariance of the action functional requires a non-trivial integration measure which, in the commutative limit, do…
In this paper, we construct a covariant differential calculus on quantum plane with two-parametric quantum group as a symmetry group. The two cases $d^2=0$ and $d^3=0$ are completly established. We also construct differential calculi $n=2$ and $n=3$ nilpotent on super quantum space with one and two-parametric symmetry quantum supergroup.
We revisit the representation theory of the quantum double of the universal cover of the Lorentz group in 2+1 dimensions, motivated by its role as a deformed Poincaré symmetry and symmetry algebra in (2+1)-dimensional quantum gravity. We express the unitary irreducible representations in terms of covariant, infinite-component fields on curved momentum space satisfying algebraic spin and mass constraints. Adapting and applying the method of group Fourier transforms, we obtain covariant fields on (2+1)-dimensional Minkowski space which necessarily depend on an additional internal and circular di…
We continue the study of non-commutative operator graphs generated by resolutions of identity covariant with respect to unitary actions of the circle group and the Heisenber-Weyl group as well. It is shown that the graphs generated by the circle group has the system of unitary generators fulfilling permutations of basis vectors. For the graph generated by the Heisenberg-Weyl group the explicit formula for a dimension is given. Thus, we found a new description of the linear structure for the operator graphs introduced in our previous works.
The Poisson gauge algebra is a semi-classical limit of complete non-commutative gauge algebra. In the present work we formulate the Poisson gauge theory which is a dynamical field theoretical model having the Poisson gauge algebra as a corresponding algebra of gauge symmetries. The proposed model is designed to investigate the semi-classical features of the full non-commutative gauge theory with coordinate dependent non-commutativity $Θ^{ab}(x)$, especially whose with a non-constant rank. We derive the expression for the covariant derivative of matter field. The commutator relation for the cov…
The structure properties of multidimensional Delsarte-Darboux transmutation operators in parametric functional spaces is studied by means of differential-geometric and topological tools. It is shown that kernels of the corresponding integral operator expressions depend on the topological structure of related homological cycles in the coordinate space. As a natural realization of the construction presented we build pairs of Lax type commutative differential operator expressions related via a Delsarte-Darboux transformation and having a lot of applications in soliton theory.
In this paper we provide a new proof that the Grosse-Wulkenhaar non-commutative scalar Phi^4_4 theory is renormalizable to all orders in perturbation theory, and extend it to more general models with covariant derivatives. Our proof relies solely on a multiscale analysis in x space. We think this proof is simpler and could be more adapted to the future study of these theories (in particular at the non-perturbative or constructive level).
We consider the deformation of the Poincaré group in 2+1 dimensions into the quantum double of the Lorentz group and construct Lorentz-covariant momentum-space formulations of the irreducible representations describing massive particles with spin 0, 1/2 and 1 in the deformed theory. We discuss ways of obtaining non-commutative versions of relativistic wave equations like the Klein-Gordon, Dirac and Proca equations in 2+1 dimensions by applying a suitably defined Fourier transform, and point out the relation between non-commutative Dirac equations and the exponentiated Dirac operator considered…
This paper contains the first written exposition of some ideas (announced in a previous survey) on an approach to quantum gravity based on Tomita-Takesaki modular theory and A. Connes non-commutative geometry aiming at the reconstruction of spectral geometries from an operational formalism of states and categories of observables in a covariant theory. Care has been taken to provide a coverage of the relevant background on modular theory, its applications in non-commutative geometry and physics and to the detailed discussion of the main foundational issues raised by the proposal.
The quantum mechanical description of the evolution of an unstable system defined initially as a state in a Hilbert space at a given time does not provide a semigroup (exponential) decay law. The Wigner-Weisskopf survival amplitude, describing reversible quantum transitions, may be dominated by exponential type decay in pole approximation at times not too short or too long, but, in the two channel case, for example, the pole residues are not orthogonal, and the evolution does not correspond to a semigroup (experiments on the decay of the neutral $K$-meson system strongly support the semigroup …
We consider the generalized matrix non-linear Schrodinger (NLS) hierarchy. By employing the universal Darboux-dressing scheme we derive solutions for the hierarchy of integrable PDEs via solutions of the matrix Gelfand-Levitan-Marchenko equation, and we also identify recursion relations that yield the Lax pairs for the whole matrix NLS-type hierarchy. These results are obtained considering either matrix-integral or general $n^{th}$ order matrix-differential operators as Darboux-dressing transformations. In this framework special links with the Airy and Burgers equations are also discussed. The…
A covariant set of linear differential field equations, describing an N=1 supersymmetric anyon system in (2+1)D, is proposed in terms of Wigner's deformation of the bosonic Heisenberg algebra. The non-relativistic ``Jackiw-Nair'' limit extracts the ordinary bosonic and fermionic degrees of freedom from the Heisenberg-Wigner algebra. It yields first-order, non-relativistic wave equations for a spinning particle on the non-commutative plane that admits a Galilean exotic planar N=1 supersymmetry.
We prove that each member of the non-commutative nonlinear Schrodinger and modified Korteweg--de Vries hierarchy is a Fredholm Grassmannian flow, and for the given linear dispersion relation and corresponding equivalencing group of Fredholm transformations, is unique in the class of odd-polynomial partial differential fields. Thus each member is linearisable and integrable in the sense that time-evolving solutions can be generated by solving a linear Fredholm Marchenko equation, with the scattering data solving the corresponding linear dispersion equation. At each order, each member matches th…
The Hilbert-Schmidt operator formulation of non-commutative quantum mechanics in 2D Moyal plane is shown to allow one to construct Schwinger's SU(2) generators. Using this the SU(2) symmetry aspect of both commutative and non-commutative harmonic oscillator are studied and compared. Particularly, in the non-commutative case we demonstrate the existence of a critical point in the parameter space of mass and angular frequency where there is a manifest SU(2) symmetry for a unphysical harmonic oscillator Hamiltonian built out of commuting (unphysical yet covariantly transforming under SU(2)) posit…
We give a constructive proof, to all orders, that each member of the non-commutative potential Korteweg-de Vries hierarchy is a Fredholm Grassmannian flow and is therefore linearisable. Indeed we prove this for any linear combination of fields from this hierarchy. That each member of the hierarchy is linearisable, and integrable in this sense, means that the time evolving solution can be generated from the solution to the corresponding linear dispersion equation in the hierarchy, combined with solving an associated linear Fredholm equation representing the Marchenko equation. Further, we show …
The spectral action for a non-compact commutative spectral triple is computed covariantly in a gauge perturbation up to order 2 in full generality. In the ultraviolet regime, $p\to\infty$, the action decays as $1/p^4$ in any even dimension.
We study integrable geodesic flows on Stiefel varieties $V_{n,r}=SO(n)/SO(n-r)$ given by the Euclidean, normal (standard), Manakov-type, and Einstein metrics. We also consider natural generalizations of the Neumann systems on $V_{n,r}$ with the above metrics and proves their integrability in the non-commutative sense by presenting compatible Poisson brackets on $(T^*V_{n,r})/SO(r)$. Various reductions of the latter systems are described, in particular, the generalized Neumann system on an oriented Grassmannian $G_{n,r}$ and on a sphere $S^{n-1}$ in presence of Yang-Mills fields or a magnetic m…
The problem of the consistent definition of gauge theories living on the non-commutative (NC) spaces with a non-constant NC parameter $Θ(x)$ is discussed. Working in the L$_\infty$ formalism we specify the undeformed theory, $3$d abelian Chern-Simons, by setting the initial $\ell_1$ brackets. The deformation is introduced by assigning the star commutator to the $\ell_2$ bracket. For this initial set up we construct the corresponding L$_\infty$ structure which defines both the NC deformation of the abelian gauge transformations and the field equations covariant under these transformations. To c…
In this paper we construct a non-commutative geometry over a configuration space of gauge connections and show that it gives rise to a candidate for an interacting, non-perturbative quantum gauge theory coupled to a fermionic field on a curved background. The non-commutative geometry is given by an infinite-dimensional Bott-Dirac type operator, whose square gives the Hamilton operator, and which interacts with an algebra generated by holonomy-diffeomorphisms. The Bott-Dirac operator and the associated Hilbert space relies on a metric on the configuration space of connections, which effectively…
