This paper consists in two parts. First we set up a general scheme of local traps in an homogeneous deterministic quantum system. The current of particles caught by the trap is linked to the dynamical behaviour of the trap states. In this way, transport properties in an homogeneous system are related to spectral properties of a coherent dynamics. Next we apply the scheme to a system of Fermions in the one-particle approximation. We obtain in particular lower bounds for the dynamical entropy in terms of the current induced by the trap.
Using a left multiplication defined on a right quaternionic Hilbert space, we shall demonstrate that various classes of coherent states such as the canonical coherent states, pure squeezed states, fermionic coherent states can be defined with all the desired properties on a right quaternionic Hilbert space. Further, we shall also demonstrate squeezed states can be defined on the same Hilbert space, but the noncommutativity of quaternions prevents us in getting the desired results.
The quantum fluctuations of the entropy production for fermionic systems in the Landauer-Buttiker non-equilibrium steady state are investigated. The probability distribution, governing these fluctuations, is explicitly derived by means of quantum field theory methods and analysed in the zero frequency limit. It turns out that microscopic processes with positive, vanishing and negative entropy production occur in the system with non-vanishing probability. In spite of this fact, we show that all odd moments (in particular, the mean value of the entropy production) of the above distribution are n…
In this paper, we discuss the possibility of unexplored behaviours for the entanglement entropy in extended quantum systems. Namely, we study the Rényi entanglement entropy for the ground state of long-range Kitaev chains with slow decaying couplings. We obtain that, under some circumstances, the entropy grows sublogarithmically with the length of the subsystem. Our result is based on the asymptotic behaviour of a new class of Toeplitz determinants whose symbol does not lie within the application domain of the Strong Szegő Theorem or the Fisher-Hartwig conjecture.
There is an intimate relation between entanglement entropy and Riemann surfaces. This fact is explicitly noticed for the case of quadratic fermionic Hamiltonians with finite range couplings. After recollecting this fact, we make a comprehensive analysis of the action of the Möbius transformations on the Riemann surface. We are then able to uncover the origin of some symmetries and dualities of the entanglement entropy already noticed recently in the literature. These results give further support for the use of entanglement entropy to analyse phase transition.
We generalize the fermionic coherent states to the case of Fock-Krein spaces, i.e., Fock spaces with an idefinite inner product of Krein type. This allows for their application in topological or functorial quantum field theory and more specifically in general boundary quantum field theory. In this context we derive a universal formula for the amplitude of a coherent state in linear field theory on an arbitrary manifold with boundary.
We study quantum computation relations on unital finite-dimensional CAR $C^{*}$-algebras. We prove an entropy power inequality (EPI) in a fermionic setting, which presumably will permit understanding the capacities in fermionic linear optics. Similar relations to the bosonic case are shown, and alternative proofs of known facts are given. Clifford algebras and the Grassmann representation can thus be used to obtain mathematical results regarding coherent fermion states.

Entanglement entropy may display a striking new symmetry under Möbius transformations. This symmetry was analysed in our previous work for the case of a non-critical (gapped) free homogeneous fermionic chain invariant under parity and charge conjugation. In the present work we extend and analyse this new symmetry in several directions. First, we show that the above mentioned symmetry also holds when parity and charge conjugation invariance are broken. Second we extend this new symmetry to the case of critical (gapless) theories. Our results are further supported by numerical analysis. For some…

We study the relative entropy, in the sense of Araki, for the representation of a self-dual CAR algebra $\mathfrak{A}_{SDC}(\mathcal{H},Γ)$. We notice, for a specific choice of $f \in \mathcal{H}$, that the associated element in $\mathfrak{A}_{SDC}(\mathcal{H},Γ)$ is unitary. As a consequence, we explicitly compute the relative entropy between a quasifree state over $\mathfrak{A}_{SDC}(\mathcal{H},Γ)$ and an excitation of it with respect to the abovely mentioned unitary element. The generality of the approach, allows us to consider $\mathcal{H}$ as the Hilbert space of solutions of the classic…
We study the statistical behavior of entanglement in quantum bipartite systems over fermionic Gaussian states as measured by von Neumann entropy and entanglement capacity. The focus is on the variance of von Neumann entropy and the mean entanglement capacity that belong to the so-defined second-order statistics. The main results are the exact yet explicit formulas of the two considered second-order statistics for fixed subsystem dimension differences. We also conjecture the exact variance of von Neumann entropy valid for arbitrary subsystem dimensions. Based on the obtained results, we analyti…
We consider a model of quantum dynamical semigroup on a finite dimensional fermionic space, obtained as the continuous-time limit of a repeated interactions model between a system and several thermal baths, with a dynamic driven by quadratic Hamiltonians. We assume that there is a globally conserved observable which can be expressed as a sum of energies on the system and on each baths, and we study the energy fluxes between the baths and the system. First, we consider only the mean energy fluxes, and prove that every thermal machines on quasi-free fermions in trivial, in the sense that it is n…
The Wehrl entropy conjecture for coherent (highest weight) states in representations of the Heisenberg group, which was proved in 1978 and recently extended by us to the group $SU(2)$, is further extended here to symmetric representations of the groups $SU(N)$ for all $N$. This result gives further evidence for our conjecture that highest weight states minimize group integrals of certain concave functions for a large class of Lie groups and their representations.
For a subalgebra of a generic CCR algebra, we consider the relative entropy between a general (not necessarily pure) quasifree state and a coherent excitation thereof. We give a unified formula for this entropy in terms of single-particle modular data. Further, we investigate changes of the relative entropy along subalgebras arising from an increasing family of symplectic subspaces; here convexity of the entropy (as usually considered for the Quantum Null Energy Condition) is replaced with lower estimates for the second derivative, composed of "bulk terms" and "boundary terms". Our main assump…
We provide a rigorous, explicit formula for the vacuum relative entropy of a coherent state on wedge local von Neumann algebras associated with a free, neutral quantum field theory on the Minkowski spacetime of arbitrary spacetime dimension. We consider charges localised on the time zero hyperplane, possibly crossing the boundary.
We discuss the Wehrl-type entropy inequality conjecture for the group $SU(1,1)$ and for its subgroup $AX+B$ (or affine group), their representations on $L^2({\mathbb R}_+)$, and their coherent states. For $AX+B$ the Wehrl-type conjecture for $L^p$-norms of these coherent states (also known as the Rényi entropies) is proved in the case that $p$ is an even integer. We also show how the general $AX+B$ case reduces to an unsolved problem about analytic functions on the upper half plane and the unit disc.
