Recent experimental studies on proton-rich nuclei in the $sd$ shell have revealed intriguing near-threshold phenomena, including exotic structures associated with mirror-symmetry breaking. In particular, a halo-like structure has been suggested for the $1^+$ state of $^{22}$Al based on the large isospin asymmetry observed in the $^{22}$Si/$^{22}$O mirror Gamow-Teller transitions. Recent mass measurements further indicate that the ground state of $^{22}$Al is weakly bound, with a single-proton separation energy of about 100 keV. To investigate how the continuum affects the structure and decay properties of this proton-dripline nucleus, we employ the state-of-the-art Gamow shell model. This approach utilizes valence-space effective interactions and operators derived from chiral forces. Our calculations identify the ground state of $^{22}$Al as a $4^+$ state, with a $3^+$ state as the first excitation. Despite their diffuse nature under weak binding, the Thomas-Ehrman shift for these states is found to be negligible due to their small $s$-wave components. In contrast, the excited $1_1^+$ state possesses a significantly larger $s$-wave component, resulting in a more pronounced halo-like structure.
We demonstrate that there is no appreciable enhancement of the anapole moment of $^{11}$Be. The effect of small energy intervals is compensated for by a small overlap of the halo neutron wave function with core.
The spectrum, partial and total decay widths of the states of the exotic 10Li nucleus are studied in an ab initio approach. The spectrum is calculated using No-Core Shell Model and corresponding extrapolation procedure. The calculations use the well-proven Daejeon16 potential. The NCSM-based approach, which includes a method for constructing the basis of functions of cluster channels and a procedure for matching the cluster form factors obtained within this method with the asymptotic wave functions, is applied to compute the widths of the levels. The results obtained quite adequately reproduce…
Positive-parity levels and 16 rotational bands are theoretically analyzed on the basis of phenomenological models of the atomic nucleus with the use of new experimental data on excited states in the ^{160}Dy nucleus recently gained in the investigation of the decay ^{160}Er → ^{160m,g}Ho → ^{160}Dy.
Shell model wave functions have been used to form microscopic g-folding optical potentials with which elastic scattering data from 8He, 10,11C, and 18,20,22O scattering on hydrogen has been analyzed. Those potentials, the effective two-nucleon interaction used in their formation, and the shell model details, then have been used in distorted wave approximation calculations of differential cross sections from inelastic scattering to the first excited states of five of those radioactive ions.
The scattering processes of exotic atoms in excited states from hydrogen such as elastic scattering, Stark transitions and Coulomb de-excitation are studied within a close coupling approach. The vacuum polarization and the strong interaction shifts of $ns$-states (in case of hadronic atoms) are taken into account. The differential and integral cross sections of the above processes are calculated to use them as the input in cascade calculations. The effect of closed channels on the scattering processes is investigated.
The neutron rich exotic unbound 7He nucleus has been the subject of many experimental investigations. While the ground-state 3/2- resonance is well established, there is a controversy concerning the excited 1/2- resonance reported in some experiments as low-lying and narrow (E_R ~ 1 MeV, Gamma < 1 MeV) while in others as very broad and located at a higher energy. This issue cannot be addressed by ab initio theoretical calculations based on traditional bound-state methods. We introduce a new unified approach to nuclear bound and continuum states based on the coupling of the no-core shell model,…
A microscopic theory of the electromagnetic radiation emitted by a highly excited nucleus is developed on the basis of the Landau theory of a Fermi liquid. Closed formulae are obtained for the mean radiative width and its mean square fluctuation from level to level. The temperatures of many nuclei are found from the observed widths. The relaxation time is estimated from the experimental data on the radiative-width fluctuations. The regions of applicability of the various types of relations between the relaxation time and the lifetime of the compound nucleus, as well as the relevant physical co…
We present results of calculations of $n{-}{^6\rm He}$ elastic scattering phase shifts and resonances in ${^7\rm He}$. The calculations utilize the SS-HORSE method combined with ab initio no-core shell model calculations of the ${^7\rm He}$ and ${^6\rm He}$ nuclei with Daejeon16 and the JISP16 $NN$ interactions.
The structure of the neutron-rich carbon nucleus ^{16}C is described by introducing a new microscopic shell model of no-core type. The model space is composed of the 0s, 0p, 1s0d, and 1p0f shells. The effective interaction is microscopically derived from the CD-Bonn potential and the Coulomb force through a unitary transformation theory. Calculated low-lying energy levels of ^{16}C agree well with the experiment. The B(E2;2_{1}^{+} \to 0_{1}^{+}) value is calculated with the bare charges. The anomalously hindered B(E2) value for ^{16}C, measured recently, is well reproduced.
The excited states of Be-12, Be-14 and B-15 were studied by an antisymmetrized molecular dynamics method. The theoretical results reproduced the energy levels of recently measured excited states of Be-12, and also predicted rotational bands with innovative clustering structures in Be-12, Be-14 and B-15. Clustering states with new exotic clusters (He-6, He-8 and Li-9) were theoretically suggested. One new aspect in very neutron-rich nuclei is a 6-nucleon correlation among 4 neutrons and 2 protons, which plays an important role in the formation of He-6 clusters during clustering: 8He + 6He of Be…
If neutrons are progressively added to a normal nucleus, the Pauli principle forces them into states of higher momentum. When the core becomes neutron-saturated, the nucleus expels most of the wavefunction of the last neutrons outside to form a halo, which because of its large size can have lower momentum. It is an open question how nature stabilizes such a fragile system and provides the glue needed to bind the halo neutrons to the core. Here we show that this problem is similar to that of the instability of the normal state of an electron system at zero temperature solved by Cooper, solution…
The Coulomb deexcitation of light exotic atoms in collisions with hydrogen atoms has been studied in the framework of the fully quantum-mechanical close-coupling method for the first time. The calculations of the $l$-averaged cross sections have been performed for $(μp)_n$ and $(μd)_n$ atoms in the states with the principal quantum number $n=3 ÷8$ and relative energies region $E=0.01 ÷100$ eV. The obtained results reveal the new $n$ and $E$ dependences of the Coulomb deexcitation cross sections. The large fraction (up to $\sim$ 36%) of the transition with $Δn > 1$ is also predicted.
We investigate the possibility of the existence of the exotic torus configuration in the high-spin excited states of $^{40}$Ca. We here consider the spin alignments about the symmetry axis. To this end, we use a three-dimensional cranked Skyrme Hartree-Fock method and search for stable single-particle configurations. We find one stable state with the torus configuration at the total angular momentum $J=$ 60 $\hbar$ and an excitation energy of about 170 MeV in all calculations using various Skyrme interactions. The total angular momentum J=60 $\hbar$ consists of aligned 12 nucleons with the orb…
A Multi-Channel Algebraic Scattering (MCAS) theory is presented with which the properties of a compound nucleus are found from a coupled-channel problem. The method defines both the bound states and resonances of the compound nucleus, even if the compound nucleus is particle unstable. All resonances of the system are found no matter how weak and/or narrow. Spectra of mass-7 nuclei and of {}^{15}F, and MCAS results for a radiative capture cross section are presented.
We investigate the structure of the neutron rich nucleus $^{14}$B through studies of its breakup in the Coulomb field of a heavy target. The breakup amplitude is calculated within an adiabatic as well as finite range DWBA theories of breakup reactions. Both these formalisms allow the use of realistic wave functions for the relative motion between the fragments in the ground state of the projectile. The longitudinal momentum distributions of $^{13}$B (ground state) following the breakup of $^{14}$B on a heavy target at beam energy of 60 MeV/nucleon, calculated using two possible ground state co…
Inspired by the recently-reported strong electric-dipole (E1) transition between the weakly-bound first and second excited states, 3/2- at 765 keV and 1/2+ at 885 keV, in the nucleus 27Ne, the E1 transition is estimated in a model by properly taking into account the effect of both deformation and weakly-bound neutrons. In addition to both the spin-parities, 1/2+ and 3/2-, and observed nearly degenerate energies of the two excited states, the observed order of magnitude of the E1 transition strength between the two states is very naturally explained in the case that these two excited states are…
We investigate properties of bound and resonance states in the $_Λ^{9}$Be nucleus. To reveal the nature of these states, we use a three-cluster $2α+Λ$ microscopic model. The model incorporates Gaussian and oscillator basis functions and reduces a three-cluster Schrödinger equation to a two-body like many-channel problem with the two-cluster subsystems ($_Λ^{5}$He and $^8$Be) being in a bound or a pseudo-bound state. Influence of the cluster polarization on the energy and widths of resonance states in $_Λ^{9}$Be and on elastic and inelastic $_Λ^{5}$He+$α$ scattering is analyzed.
Using the information on the nuclear structure of exotic neutron-rich halo nucleus $^{11}$Be, we evaluate the parity violating anapole moment in its ground state. The resulting value $κ(^{11}$Be)$=0.17$ is fifteen times bigger than the typical value of the anapole moment of a normal nucleus of the same mass, and in fact exceeds by few times anapole moments of any known neutron-odd nuclei (e.g., kappa(^{11}Be) > 2|κ(^{207}Pb)|. It is also few times bigger than the neutral current contribution to the lepton-nucleus interaction.
0.8 GeV proton inelastic scatterings from $^{40}$Ar nucleus are analyzed using an optical potential model in the Dirac coupled channel formalism. A rotational collective model is used to obtain the transition optical potentials for the low lying excited states of the rotational band. The optical potential parameters of a Woods-Saxon shape and the deformation parameters of the excited states are searched phenomenologically to reproduce the experimental differential cross-section data by using the sequential iteration method. The effect of a multistep process is investigated by including the cha…
For a long time it was known that deuteron, as a weakly coupled nucleon pair, has no excited states. However, A.M. Baldin et al, commenting results of the first physical experiment with accelerated nuclei at JINR synchrophasotron, assumed as far back as in 1979 that one of peaks in a differential cross-section may arise due to an "excited state of deuterium". We have established that one of the peaks in the cross-section may be explained indeed in this way and corresponds to the dibaryon reported by WASA-at-COSY Collaboration. Another peak in the same region is interpreted most likely by inter…
We briefly review the study of the exotic atoms and exotic nuclei, and report recent research activities of eta-mesic nucleus and kaonic atoms in this article.
We systematically derive a length scale characterizing the size of a low-lying, beta stable nucleus from empirical data for the diffraction peak angle in the proton inelastic differential cross section of incident energy of \sim 1 GeV. In doing so, we assume that the target nucleus in the ground state is a completely absorptive "black" sphere of radius a. The cross section πa^2, where a is determined in such a way as to reproduce the empirical proton diffraction peak angle in the elastic channel, is known to agree with empirical total reaction cross sections for incident protons to within erro…
The energy spectrum and the emission rate of particles emitted from excited nucleus due to both the evaporation and the splashing (emission from a cold vibrating nucleus) are calculated. We show that the collective motion of the nuclear Fermi liquid is accompanied by direct non-statistical emission of nucleons via the dynamical distortion of the Fermi surface.
Calculations for fission and cluster decay of $^{76}Sr$ are presented for this nucleus to be in its ground-state or formed as an excited compound system in heavy-ion reactions. The predicted mass distribution, for the dynamical collective mass transfer process assumed for fission of $^{76}Sr$, is clearly asymmetric, favouring $α$-nuclei. Cluster decay is studied within a preformed cluster model, both for ground-state to ground-state decays and from excited compound system to the ground-state(s) or excited states(s) of the fragments.
Recent studies have provided new experimental information on the very neutron-rich nucleus 135Sb. We have performed a shell-model calculation for this nucleus using a realistic effective interaction derived from the CD-Bonn nucleon-nucleon potential. This gives a very good description of the observed properties of 135Sb. We show that the anomalously low position of the first excited state, J=5/2+, and the strongly hindered M1 transition to the ground state have their origin in the effective neutron-proton interaction.
The suggestion is made that the excited state of the $^3 H$ nucleus found out recently in the reaction $H$ ($^6 He$,$α$) ({\it Pis'ma JETPh\/} {\bf 59} (1994) 301) has spin and parity $1/2^+$ and the same configuration that the ground one of $^6 He$. An amplitude of electromagnetic transition to the triton ground state is strongly suppressed, therefore the excited state cannot be detected in radiative capture of neutrons by deuterons. It is shown that in an elastic nd-scattering a resonance associated with the exited state may be absent due to the destructive interference of potential and reso…
The exotic $^9$He nucleus, which presents one of the most extreme neutron-to-proton ratios, belongs to the $N=7$ isotonic chain famous for the phenomenon of ground-state parity inversion with decreasing number of protons. Consequently, it would be expected to have an unnatural (positive) parity ground state similar to $^{11}$Be and $^{10}$Li. Despite many experimental and theoretical investigations, its structure remains uncertain. Apart from the fact that it is unbound, other properties including the spin and parity of its ground state and the very existence of additional low-lying resonances…
The structures of the ground and excited states of sd-shell nuclei: Ca-40 and Ar-36 were studied with a method of antisymmetrized molecular dynamics. Recently observed rotational bands were described with deformed intrinsic states which are dominated by excited configurations such as 4p-4h, 8p-8h and 4p-8h states. The results showed the coexistence of various kinds of exotic shapes with oblate, prolate and large prolate deformatios in the low-energy region of Ca-40. Possible cluster aspects in heavy sd-shell nuclei were implied in these exotic shapes.
In order to clear up the sensitivity of the nucleus-nucleus scattering to the nuclear matter distributions of exotic halo nuclei, we have calculated differential cross sections for elastic scattering of the $^6$He and $^{11}$Li nuclei on several nuclear targets at the energy of 0.8 GeV/nucleon with different assumed nuclear density distributions in $^6$He and $^{11}$Li.
The series of Uranium isotopes with $N=154 \sim 172$ around the magic number N=162/164 are identified to be thermally fissile. The thermal neutron fission of a typical representative $^{249}$U of this region amenable to synthesis in the radioactive ion beam facilities is considered here. Semiempirical study of fission barrier height and width shows this nucleus to be infinitely stable against spontaneous fission due to increase in barrier width arising out of excess neutrons. Calculation of probability of fragment mass yields and microscopic study in relativistic mean field theory, show this n…
The energy spectrum of the $^{12}C$ nucleus with $(J^π, T)=(0^+,0)$ and $(2^+,0)$ is investigated in the framework of the multicluster dynamical model by using a deep $αα$-potential with forbidden states in the S and D waves. A very high sensitivity of the compact ground and first excited $2^+_1$ states energy levels to the description of the two-body forbidden states wave functions has been estabilished. It is shown also that the chosen method of orthogonalizing pseudopotentials yields convergent results for the energies of the excited $(0^+_2,0)$ and $(0^+_3,0)$ states of the $^{12}C$ nucleu…
Ground-state, radially-excited and exotic scalar-, vector- and flavoured-pseudoscalar-mesons are studied in rainbow-ladder truncation using an interaction kernel that is consonant with modern DSE- and lattice-QCD results. The inability of this truncation to provide realistic predictions for the masses of excited- and exotic-states is confirmed and explained. On the other hand, its application does provide information that is potentially useful in proceeding beyond this leading-order truncation, e.g.: assisting with development of projection techniques that ease the computation of excited state…
Fano-resonances are investigated as a new continuum excitation mode in exotic nuclei. By theoretical model calculations we show that the coupling of a single particle elastic channel to closed core-excited channels leads to sharp resonances in the low-energy continuum. A signature for such bound states embedded in the continuum (BSEC) are characteristic interference effects leading to asymmetric line shapes. Following the quasiparticle-core coupling model we consider the coupling of 1-QP (one-quasiparticle) and 3-QP components and find a number of long-living resonance structures close to the …
We make a systematic calculation on $α$-decay branching ratios to members of ground-state rotational band and to excited $0^{+}$ states of even-even nuclei by a simple barrier penetration approach. The branching ratios to the excited states of daughter nucleus are determined by the $α$-decay energy, the angular momentum of $α$-particle, and the excitation probability of the daughter nucleus. Our calculation covers isotopic chains from Hg to Fm in the mass regions 180$<$A$<$202 and A$\geq$224. The calculated branching ratios of $α$-transitions are consistent with the experimental data. Some use…
Within the modified potential cluster model with forbidden states effectively taking into account the Pauli Exclusion Principle the astrophysical S-factor of radiative p14N capture to 15O ground state has been calculated. The calculation was performed at the proton energy up to 5 MeV in the center of mass system (c.m.) with taking into account broad resonances up to 3.4 MeV in c.m. To explain reasonably the available experimental data it is required to admit the existence of 14N cluster in excited state 14N* with the excitation energy equal to 5.69 MeV and momentum JP = 1-. It is assumed that …
We have investigated the implications of the neutron halo configuration, observed in the ground-state of some neutron-rich light nuclei, on neutron radiative transition processes. In particular, we have studied the influence of the neutron halo on the direct radiative capture (DRC) process. The energy dependence as well as the strength of E1 emission due to incident p-wave neutrons is strongly influenced by the halo configuration of the residual nucleus capturing state. We have compared the calculated 10Be(n,gamma)11Be DRC cross section with that derived from the experiment in the inverse kine…
The excited states of Be-12, Be-14 and B-15 have been studied with a method of antisymmetrized molecular dynamics. In the predicted excited states we find novel molecule-like structures with very exotic clusters such as 6He+8He in Be-14 and 6He+9Li in B-15. The origin of the He-6 cluster development in the very neutron-rich nuclei is understood by the new-type correlation among 4 neutrons and 2 protons. In this paper we also present our recent challenge to study $sd$-shell nuclei. Shape coexistence problems in Ar-36 and Ca-40 are discussed.
In this paper, we presented the ground state energies calculated for some single and double cascade hyperon($Ξ^{-}$) hypernuclei. For hypernuclei of the type $_Ξ^{A_c+1}$X we applied $Ξ+^A_c$X two-body model and for hypernuclei of the type $_{ΞΞ}^{A_c+2}$X we adopted $Ξ+Ξ+^A_c$X three-body model. A two-term Gaussian (Isle type) potential with adjustable parameters is chosen as the $Ξ$-nucleus interaction, while a two-term Yukawa-type potential has been chosen for the $ΞΞ$ pair. In the three-body model calculation, we adopted the hyperspherical harmonics expansion (HHE) formalism. The resulting…
In order to study the correlation between clusters and nucleons in light nuclei, we formulate a new superposed THSR wave function which describes both spatial large spreading and cluster-correlated dynamics of valence nucleons. By using the new THSR wave function, the binding energy of 9B is essentially improved comparing with our previous studies. We calculate the excited states of 9B and obtain the energy spectrum of 9B which is consistent with the experimental results, including prediction of the 1/2+ excited state of 9B which is not fixed yet experimentally. We study the proton dynamics in…
Properties of the lowest $0^{+}$ states of $^{12}\mathrm{C}$ are calculated to study the role of three-body interactions in the $α$-cluster model. An additional short-range part of the local three-body potential is introduced to incorporate the effects beyond the $α$-cluster model. There is enough freedom in this potential to reproduce the experimental values of the ground-state and excited-state energies and the ground-state root-mean-square radius. The calculations reveal two principal choices of the two-body and three-body potentials. Firstly, one can adjust the potentials to obtain the wid…
In this paper we investigate the Exotic Charmonium (EC) production in $γγ$ interactions present in proton-proton, proton-nucleus and nucleus-nucleus collisions at the CERN Large Hadron Collider (LHC) energies as well as for the proposed energies of the Future Circular Collider (FCC). Our results demonstrate that the experimental study of these processes is feasible and can be used to constrain the theoretical decay widths and shed some light on the configuration of the considered multiquark states.
Recent experimental observation of magicity in $^{78}$Ni has infused the interest to examine the persistence of the magic character across the N$=$50 shell gap in extremely neutron rich exotic nucleus $^{78}$Ni in ground as well as excited states. A systematic study of Ni isotopes and N$=$50 isotones in ground state is performed within the microscopic framework of relativistic mean-field (RMF) and the triaxially deformed Nilson Strutinsky model (NSM). Ground state density distributions, charge form factors, radii, separation energies, pairing energies, single particle energies and the shell co…
The ground and excited states of the 3H and 4He nuclei are studied in the framework of group-theoretical methods. Basis functions of the unitary scheme model corresponding to even numbers of quanta of excitation in the range from zero to twenty are constructed for the even-parity states of these two nuclei, and bases from one to nineteen are constructed for the odd-parity states of the 4He nucleus. The ground-state and first-excited-state energies and wave functions, the ground S-, P- and D-state probabilities, the root-mean-square radius and the magnetic dipole moment of Triton are calculated…
The issue of whether $^{42}_{14}Si_{28}$ is doubly magical or not has been a contentious one. Fridmann {\it et al.} (Nature 435 (2005) 922) through studies of two-proton knockout reaction $^{44}_{16}S_{28} \rightarrow ^{42}_{14}Si_{28}$, presented a strong empirical evidence in support of magicity and sphericity of $^{42}_{14}Si_{28}$. However in complete conflict with this, Bastin {\it et al.} (Phys. Rev. Lett. 99 (2007) 022503) gave equally strong empirical evidences, to show that the N = 28 magicity had completely collapsed, and that $^{42}_{14}Si_{28}$ was a well deformed nucleus. At prese…
Charge form factors corresponding to proton density distributions in exotic nuclei, such as $^{6,8}$He, $^{11}$Li, $^{17,19}$B and $^{14}$Be are calculated and compared. The results can be used as tests of various theoretical models for the exotic nuclei structure in possible future experiments using a colliding electron-exotic nucleus storage ring. The result of such a comparison would show the effect of the neutron halo or skin on the proton distributions in exotic nuclei.
In order to clear up the sensitivity of the nucleus--nucleus reaction cross sections $σ_R$ to the nuclear matter distributions in exotic halo nuclei, we have calculated the values of $σ_R$ for scattering of $^6$He, $^{11}$Li, and $^{19}$C nuclei on several nuclear targets at the energy of 0.8 GeV/nucleon. The calculations were performed in the "rigid target" approximation to the Glauber theory, different shapes of the nuclear density distributions in $^6$He, $^{11}$Li, and $^{19}$C being assumed.
The nuclear aspects of flavour changing neutral current (FCNC) processes, predicted by various new-physics models to occur in the presence of nuclei, are examined by computing the relevant nuclear matrix elements within the context of the quasi-particle RPA using realistic strong two-body forces. One of our aims is to explore the role of the non-standard interactions (NSI) in the leptonic sector and specifically: (i) in lepton flavour violating (LFV) processes involving the neutral particles $ν_\ell$ and $\tildeν_\ell$, $\ell = e,μ,τ$ and (ii) in charged lepton flavour violating (cLFV) process…
We perform coupled-cluster calculations of ground- and dipole excited-state properties of the 8He halo nucleus with nucleon-nucleon and three-nucleon interactions from chiral effective field theory, both with and without explicit delta degrees of freedom. By increasing the precision in our coupled-cluster calculations via the inclusion of leading order three-particle three-hole excitations in the cluster operator, we obtain a ground-state energy and a charge radius that are consistent with experiment, albeit with a slight under-binding. We also investigate the excited states induced by the ele…
The structure of the nucleus 25F was investigated through in-beam γ-ray spectroscopy of the fragmentation of 26Ne and 27,28Na ion beams. Based on the particle-γ and particle-γγ coincidence data, a level scheme was constructed and compared with shell model and coupled-cluster calculations. Some of the observed states were interpreted as quasi single-particle states built on top of the closed-shell nucleus 24O, while the others were described as states arising from coupling of a single proton to the 2+ core excitation of 24O.
Unpolarized 800 MeV proton inelastic scatterings from an s-d shell nucleus $^{22}$Ne are analyzed using phenomenological optical potentials in the Dirac coupled channel formalism. The first-order rotational collective model is used to obtain the transition optical potentials for the low lying excited collective states that belong to the ground state rotational band of the nucleus. The optical potential parameters of Woods-Saxon shape and the deformation parameters of the excited states are varied phenomenologically using the sequential iteration method to reproduce the experimental differentia…
Evidence for excitation of exotic S=+1 pentaquark degrees of freedom is presented by studying optical-potential fits to K^+ - nucleus total, reaction and elastic-differential cross section data at p(lab) = 500 - 700 MeV/c. Estimates of the underlying two-nucleon absorption K^+ n N --> Theta^+ N reaction cross section are made and are used for discussing the anticipated cross section of the strangeness exchange reaction K^+ N --> pi Theta^+.
The elastic electron scattering form factors, longitudinal and transverse, from the He and Li isotopes and from 8B have been studied. Large space shell model functions have been assumed. The precise distribution of the neutron excess has little effect on the form factors of the isotopes though there is a mass dependence in the charge densities. However, the form factors of the proton-rich nucleus, 8B, are significantly changed by the presence of the proton halo.
We present results from ab initio No-Core Full Configuration simulations of the exotic proton-rich nucleus $^{14}$F whose first experimental observation is expected soon. The calculations with JISP16 NN interaction are performed up to the $N_{\max}=8$ basis space. The binding energy is evaluated using an extrapolation technique. This technique is generalized to excitation energies, verified in calculations of $^6$Li and applied to $^{14}$B, the $^{14}$F mirror, for which some data are available.
The 160Dy nucleus is classified as deformed nucleus (β=0.23) and has quite a complicated scheme of excited states. By now it has been quite well studied experimentally in nuclear reactions, Coulomb excitation, and βdecays of 160Tb and 160m,gHo. Our recent investigation of the decay 160Er ->160m,gHo ->160Dy has made it possible to expand considerably the scheme of excited 160Dy states and to correlate the reaction and β-decay data. Over a hundred new levels are added to the previously known excited states in the 160m,gHo ->160Dy decay scheme. In this paper a theoretical analysis of the experime…
In weakly bound exotic nuclei, number of excited bound states or narrow resonances is small and, moreover, they couple strongly to the particle continuum. Hence, these systems should be described in the quantum open system formalism which does not artificially separate the subspaces of (quasi-) bound and scattering states. The Shell Model Embedded in the Continuum provides a novel approach which solves this problem. Examples of application in sd-shell nuclei will be presented.
The binding system of a hadron and a nucleus is a topic of great interest for investigating the hadron properties. In the heavy-flavor region, the attraction between a $P(=\bar{D},B)$ meson and a nucleon $N$ can appear, where the $PN-P^\ast N$ mixing plays an important role in relation to the heavy-quark spin symmetry. The attraction can produce exotic heavy mesic nuclei that are stable against the strong decay. We study an exotic system where the $\bar{D}$ ($B$) meson and nucleus are bound. The meson-nucleus interaction is given by a folding potential with single-channel $PN$ interaction and …
We study the exotic deformed nucleus $^{31}$Ne using an approach that combines self-consistent structure and reaction theory. We utilize the fully-relativistic, microscopic deformed Hartree-Bogoliubov theory in continuum (DRHBc) to demonstrate that deformation and pairing correlations give rise to a halo structure with large-amplitude $p$-wave configuration in $^{31}$Ne. We then use the valence nucleon wave functions and angle-averaged density distributions of $^{30}$Ne from this model as input for a Glauber reaction model to study the observables of neutron-rich Neon isotopes and search for h…
