The nabla fractional derivative, which was introduced by Gogoi et.al., generalized the ordinary derivative with non-integer order, and unifies the continuous and discrete analysis using backward operator. In this study, we proposed a modification of their definition. The main focus of this work is to introduce a chain rule formula and a generalized mean value theorem for nabla fractional differentiation on time scale. Results of this study will be applied in finding the sum of a finite series.
Here we define a Caputo like discrete nabla fractional difference and we produce discrete nabla fractional Taylor formulae for the first time. We estimate their remaiders. Then we derive related discrete nabla fractional Opial, Ostrowski, Poincare and Sobolev type inequalities.
This article investigates a class of discrete nabla fractional operators by using the discrete nabla convolution theorem. Inspired by this, we define the discrete generalized nabla fractional sum and differences of Riemann-Liouville and Caputo types. In the process, we give a relationship between the generalized discrete delta fractional operators introduced by Ferreira \cite{Ferreira} and the proposed discrete generalized nabla fractional operators via the dual identities. Also, we present some test examples to justify the relationship. Moreover, we prove the fundamental theorem of calculus f…
We introduce a more general discrete fractional operator, given by convex linear combination of the delta and nabla fractional sums. Fundamental properties of the new fractional operator are proved. As particular cases, results on delta and nabla discrete fractional calculus are obtained.
In this article, we illustrate the asymptotic behaviour of exponential functions of nabla fractional calculus. For this purpose, we propose a novel matrix technique to compute these functions numerically.
This paper gives particular emphasis to the nabla tempered fractional calculus, which involves the multiplication of the rising function kernel with tempered functions, and provides a more flexible alternative with considerable promise for practical applications. Some remarkable inequalities for such nabla fractional calculus are developed and analyzed, which greatly enrich the mathematical theory of nabla tempered fractional calculus. Numerical results confirm the validity of the developed properties once again, which also reveals that the introduction of tempered function provides high value…
Discrete mathematics, the study of finite structures, is one of the fastest growing areas in mathematics and optimization. Discrete fractional calculus (DFC) theory that is an important subject of the fractional calculus includes the difference of fractional order. In present paper, we mention the radial Schr{ö}dinger equation which is a physical and singular differential equation. And, we can obtain the particular solutions of this equation by applying nabla ($ \nabla $) discrete fractional operator. This operator gives successful results for the singular equations, and solutions have fractio…
In this article, we consider a nabla fractional boundary value problem with general boundary conditions. Brackins \& Peterson \cite{Br} gave an explicit expression for the corresponding Green's function. Here, we show that this Green's function is nonnegative and obtain an upper bound for its maximum value. Since the expression for the Green's function is complicated, derivation of its properties may not be straightforward. For this purpose, we use a few properties of fractional nabla Taylor monomials. Using the Green's function, we will then develop a Lyapunov-type inequality for the nabla fr…
We introduce a general notion of fractional (noninteger) derivative for functions defined on arbitrary time scales. The basic tools for the time-scale fractional calculus (fractional differentiation and fractional integration) are then developed. As particular cases, one obtains the usual time-scale Hilger derivative when the order of differentiation is one, and a local approach to fractional calculus when the time scale is chosen to be the set of real numbers.
Different fractional difference types of Euler-Lagrange equations are obtained within Riemann and Caputo by making use of different versions of integration by part forumlas in fractional difference calculus. An example is presented to illustrate part of the results.
A fractional power interpretation of the Laguerre derivative $(DxD)^α,\ D\equiv {d\over dx} $ is discussed. The corresponding fractional integrals are introduced. Mapping and semigroup properties, integral representations and Mellin transform analysis are presented. A relationship with the Riemann-Liouville fractional integrals is demonstrated. Finally, a second kind integral equation of the Volterra-type, involving the Laguerre fractional integral is solved in terms of the double hypergeometric type series as the resolvent kernel.
We consider the discrete, fractional operator $\left(L_a^νx\right) (t) := \nabla [p(t) \nabla_{a^*}^νx(t)] + q(t) x(t-1)$ involving the nabla Caputo fractional difference, which can be thought of as an analogue to the self-adjoint differential operator. We show that solutions to difference equations involving this operator have expected properties, such as the form of solutions to homogeneous and nonhomogeneous equations. We also give a variation of constants formula via a Cauchy function in order to solve initial value problems involving $L_a^ν$. We also consider boundary value problems of an…
In this paper we develop the theory of initial and boundary value problems for the self-adjoint nabla fractional difference equation containing a Caputo fractional nabla difference that is given by \[ \nabla[p(t+1)\nabla_{a*}^νx(t+1)] + q(t)x(t) = h(t), \] where $0 < ν\leq 1$. We give an introduction to the nabla fractional calculus with Caputo fractional differences. We investigate properties of the specific self-adjoint nabla fractional difference equation given above. We prove existence and uniqueness theorems for both initial and boundary value problems under appropriate conditions. We int…
Recently, some authors have proved monotonicity results for delta and nabla fractional differences separately. In this article, we use dual identities relating delta and nabla fractional difference operators to prove shortly the monotonicity properties for the (left Riemann) nabla fractional differences using the corresponding delta type properties. Also, we proved some monotonicity properties for the Caputo fractional differences. Finally, we use the $Q-$operator dual identities to prove monotonicity results for the right fractional difference operators.
In this paper, we reformulate certain nabla fractional difference equations which had been investigated by other researchers. The previous results seem to be incomplete. By using Contraction Mapping Theorem, we establish conditions under which solutions exist and are unique and have certain asymptotic properties.
We study the Sobolev regularity on the sphere $\mathbb{S}^d$ of the uncentered fractional Hardy-Littlewood maximal operator $\widetilde{\mathcal{M}}_β$ at the endpoint $p=1$, when acting on polar data. We first prove that if $q=\frac{d}{d-β}$, $0<β<d$ and $f$ is a polar $W^{1,1}(\mathbb{S}^d)$ function, we have $$\|\nabla \widetilde{\mathcal{M}}_βf\|_q\lesssim_{d,β}\|\nabla f\|_1.$$ We then prove that the map $$f\mapsto \big | \nabla \widetilde{\mathcal{M}}_βf \big |$$ is continuous from $W^{1,1}(\mathbb{S}^d)$ to $L^q(\mathbb{S}^d)$ when restricted to polar data. Our methods allow us to give …
A solution to the more than 300-years old problem of geometric and physical interpretation of fractional integration and differentiation (i.e., integration and differentiation of an arbitrary real order) is suggested for the Riemann-Liouville fractional integration and differentiation, the Caputo fractional differentiation, the Riesz potential, and the Feller potential. It is also generalized for giving a new geometric and physical interpretation of more general convolution integrals of the Volterra type. Besides this, a new physical interpretation is suggested for the Stieltjes integral.
We define a symmetric derivative on an arbitrary nonempty closed subset of the real numbers and derive some of its properties. It is shown that real-valued functions defined on time scales that are neither delta nor nabla differentiable can be symmetric differentiable.
Let $D^α, α>0$, be the Vladimirov-Taibleson fractional differentiation operator acting on complex-valued functions on a non-Archimedean local field. The identity $D^αD^{-α}f=f$ was known only for the case where $f$ has a compact support. Following a result by Samko about the fractional Laplacian of real analysis, we extend the above identity in terms of $L^p$-convergence of truncated integrals. Differences between real and non-Archimedean cases are discussed.
In this article we focus our attention on the relation between a singular linear discrete time system and a singular linear system of fractional nabla difference equations whose coefficients are square constant matrices. By using matrix pencil theory, first we give necessary and sufficient condition to obtain a unique solution for the continuous time model. After by assuming that the input vector changes only at equally space sampling instants, we shall derive the corresponding discrete time state equation which yield the values of the solutions of the continuous time model which will connect …
Let $D(s)$ be a fractional derivation of order $s$. For a real $p\ne 0$, we construct an integral operator $A(p)$ in an appropriate functional space such that $A(p) D(s) A(p)^{-1}=D(p s)$ for all $s$. The kernel of the operator $A(p)$ is expressed in terms of a function similar to the stable densities.
In this article we prove that if the $q-$fractional operator $(~_{q}\nabla_{qa}^αy)(t)$ of order $0<α\leq 1$ , $0<q<1$ and starting at some $qa \in T_q=\{q^k: k \in \mathbb{Z}\}\cup \{0\},~~a>0$ is positive such that $y(a) \geq 0$, then $y(t)$ is $c_q(α)-$increasing, $c_q(α)=\frac{1-q^α}{1-q}q^{1-α}$. Conversely, if y(t) is increasing and $y(a)\geq 0$, then $(~_{q}\nabla_{qa}^αy)(t)\geq 0$. As an application, we proved a $q-$fractional version of the Mean-Value Theorem.
We will establish uniqueness of solutions to boundary value problems involving the nabla Caputo fractional difference under two-point boundary conditions and give an explicit expression for the Green's functions for these problems. Using the Green's functions for specific cases of these boundary value problems, we will then develop Lyapunov inequalities for certain nabla Caputo BVPs.
In recent years, the theory for Leibniz integral rule in the fractional sense has not been able to get substantial development. As an urgent problem to be solved, we study a Leibniz integral rule for Riemann-Liouville and Caputo type differentiation operators with general fractional-order of $n-1 <α\leq n$, $n \in \mathbb{N}$ . A rule of fractional differentiation under integral sign with general order is necessary and applicable tool for verification by substitution for candidate solutions of inhomogeneous multi-term fractional differential equations. We derive explicit analytical solutions o…
We continue the study of a non self-adjoint fractional three-term Sturm-Liouville boundary value problem (with a potential term) formed by the composition of a left Caputo and left-Riemann-Liouville fractional integral under {\it Dirichlet type} boundary conditions. We study the existence and asymptotic behavior of the real eigenvalues and show that for certain values of the fractional differentiation parameter $α$, $0<α<1$, there is a finite set of real eigenvalues and that, for $α$ near $1/2$, there may be none at all. As $α\to 1^-$ we show that their number becomes infinite and that the pro…
The aim of this paper is to apply generalized operators of fractional integration and differentiation involving Appells function due to Marichev-Saigo-Maeda, to the generalized Struve function. The results are expressed in terms of generalized Wright function. The results obtained here are general in nature and can easily obtain various known results.
The aim of this paper is to apply generalized operators of fractional integration and differentiation involving Appell's function $F_{3}(:)$ due to Marichev-Saigo-Maeda (MSM), to the Jacobi type orthogonal polynomials. The results are expressed in terms of generalized hypergeometric function. Some of the interesting special cases of the main results also established.
In this paper we present a solution to a fractional integral of the order 3/2 with the use of a novel method. The integral arises during solving the Biot-Savart equation to find the exact analytical solution for the magnetic field components of a solenoid. We solved the integral by cutting the branch line in order to have an analytic function inside the integral instead of multi-valued operation.
We introduce a fractional calculus on time scales using the theory of delta (or nabla) dynamic equations. The basic notions of fractional order integral and fractional order derivative on an arbitrary time scale are proposed, using the inverse Laplace transform on time scales. Useful properties of the new fractional operators are proved.
In this short note we present a new general definition of local fractional derivative, that depends on an unknown kernel. For some appropriate choices of the kernel we obtain some known cases. We establish a relation between this new concept and ordinary differentiation. Using such formula, most of the fundamental properties of the fractional derivative can be derived directly.
In 1993, Samko and Ross introduced the study of fractional integration and differentiation when the order is not a constant but a function. This suggestion gave rise to a number of further ideas and results. In particular, this implies a possibility of integration with respect to derivative's order. Here an identity is presented, in which an expression involving Riemann--Liouville fractional derivative is integrated with respect to the derivative's order.
The paper investigates the initial problem for a linear system of ordinary differential equations with the fractional differentiation operator Dzhrbashyan -- Nersesyan with constant coefficients. The existence and uniqueness theorems of the solution of the boundary value problem under study are proved. The solution is constructed explicitly in terms of the Mittag-Leffler function of the matrix argument. The Dzhrbashyan -- Nersesyan operator is a generalization of the Riemann -- Liouville, Caputo and Miller-Ross fractional differentiation operators. The obtained results as special cases contain…
We establish that the map $f\mapsto |\nabla \mathcal{M}_αf|$ is continuous from $W^{1,1}(\mathbb{R}^d)$ to $L^{q}(\mathbb{R}^d)$, where $α\in (0,d)$, $q=\frac{d}{d-α}$ and $\mathcal{M}_α$ denotes either the centered or non-centered fractional Hardy--Littlewood maximal operator. In particular, we cover the cases $d >1$ and $α\in (0,1)$ in full generality, for which results were only known for radial functions.
A conformable time-scale fractional calculus of order $α\in ]0,1]$ is introduced. The basic tools for fractional differentiation and fractional integration are then developed. The Hilger time-scale calculus is obtained as a particular case, by choosing $α= 1$.
In this paper, the generalized fractional operators involving Appell's function $F_3$ in the kernel due to Marichev-Saigo-Maeda are applied to the generalized $K$-Wright function. These fractional operators when applied to power multipliers of the generalized $K$-Wright function ${}_{p}Ψ^k_q$ yields a higher ordered generalized $K$-Wright function, namely, ${}_{p+3}Ψ^k_{q+3}$. The Caputo-type modification of Marichev-Saigo-Maeda fractional differentiation is introduced and the corresponding assertions for Saigo and Erdélyi-Kober fractional operators are also presented. The results derived in t…
We introduce a nabla, a delta, and a symmetric fractional calculus on arbitrary nonempty closed subsets of the real numbers. These fractional calculi provide a study of differentiation and integration of noninteger order on discrete, continuous, and hybrid settings. Main properties of the new fractional operators are investigated, and some fundamental results presented, illustrating the interplay between discrete and continuous behaviors.
We aim to introduce the generalized multiindex Bessel function $J_{\left( β_{j}\right) _{m},κ,b}^{\left( α_{j}\right)_{m},γ,c}\left[ z\right] $ and to present some formulas of the Riemann-Liouville fractional integration and differentiation operators. Further, we also derive certain integral formulas involving the newly defined generalized multiindex Bessel function $J_{\left( β_{j}\right) _{m},κ,b}^{\left( α_{j}\right)_{m},γ,c}\left[ z\right] $. We prove that such integrals are expressed in terms of the Fox-Wright function $_{p}Ψ_{q}(z)$. The results presented here are of general in nature an…
Let $0<α<d$ and $1\leq p<d/α$. We present a proof that for all $f\in W^{1,p}(\mathbb{R}^d)$ both the centered and the uncentered Hardy-Littlewood fractional maximal operator $\mathcal M_αf$ are weakly differentiable and $ \|\nabla\mathcal M_αf\|_{p^*} \leq C_{d,α,p} \|\nabla f\|_p , $ where $ p^* = (p^{-1}-α/d)^{-1} . $ In particular it covers the endpoint case $p=1$ for $0<α<1$ where the bound was previously unknown. For $p=1$ we can replace $W^{1,1}(\mathbb{R}^d)$ by $\mathrm{BV}(\mathbb{R}^d)$. The ingredients used are a pointwise estimate for the gradient of the fractional maximal function…
Very recently, some authors have studied new types of fractional derivatives whose kernels are nonsingular. In this article, we study Sturm-Liouville Equations ($SLEs$) in the frame of fractional operators with Mittag-Leffler kernels. We formulate some Fractional Sturm-Liouville Problems ($FSLPs$) with the diffferential part containing the left and right sided derivatives. We investigate the self-adjointness, eigenvalue and eigenfunction properties of the corresponding Fractional Sturm-Liouville Operators ($FSLOs$) by using fractional integration by parts formulas. The nabla discrete version o…
We obtain (essentially sharp) boundedness results for certain generalized local maximal operators between fractional weighted Sobolev spaces and their modifications. Concrete boundedness results between well known fractional Sobolev spaces are derived as consequences of our main result. We also apply our boundedness results by studying both generalized neighbourhood capacities and the Lebesgue differentiation of fractional weighted Sobolev functions.
The standard definition for the Atangana-Baleanu fractional derivative involves an integral transform with a Mittag-Leffler function in the kernel. We show that this integral can be rewritten as a complex contour integral which can be used to provide an analytic continuation of the definition to complex orders of differentiation. We discuss the implications and consequences of this extension, including a more natural formula for the Atangana-Baleanu fractional integral and for iterated Atangana-Baleanu fractional differintegrals.
In this paper we establish some convergence results for Riemann-Liouville, Caputo, and Caputo-Fabrizio fractional operators when the order of differentiation approaches one. We consider some errors given by $\left|\left| D^{1-\al}f -f'\right|\right|_p$ for p=1 and $p=\infty$ and we prove that for both Caputo and Caputo Fabrizio operators the order of convergence is a positive real r, 0<r<1. Finally, we compare the speed of convergence between Caputo and Caputo-Fabrizio operators obtaining that they a related by the Digamma function.
