As a generalization of the well-known Bell state measurement (BSM), the elegant joint measurement (EJM) is a kind of novel two-qubit joint measurement, parameterized by a subtle phase factor $θ\in [0,π/2]$. We explore quantum teleportation based on the EJM, inspired by Gisin's idea that quantum entanglement not only provides quantum channel and also quantum joint measurement for quantum teleportation. It is a probabilistic teleportation caused by undesired nonunitary quantum evolution. There are two interesting features in the present scenario. First, it goes beyond the conventional teleportation scenario, which can be included in the present scenario. Second, different from the BSM being single input and four outcomes, it can provide an adjustable input setting or even multiple measurement settings for the sender (or the controller). Moreover, we show in detail the feasible quantum circuits to realize the present scenario, where a few unitary operations and a nonunitary quantum gate are being utilized.
An inconsistency is pointed out within Quantum Mechanics as soon as successive joint measurements are involved on entangled states. The resolution of the inconsistency leads to a refutation of the use of entangled states as eigenvectors. Hence, the concept of quantum teleportation, which is based on the use of such entangled states--the Bell states--as eigenvectors, is demonstrated to be irrelevant to Quantum Mechanics.
Twenty-five years after the invention of quantum teleportation, the concept of entanglement gained enormous popularity. This is especially nice to those who remember that entanglement was not even taught at universities until the 1990's. Today, entanglement is often presented as a resource, the resource of quantum information science and technology. However, entanglement is exploited twice in quantum teleportation. First, entanglement is the `quantum teleportation channel', i.e. entanglement between distant systems. Second, entanglement appears in the eigenvectors of the joint measurement that…

The scheme for entanglement teleportation is proposed to incorporate multipartite entanglement of four qubits as a quantum channel. Based on the invariance of entanglement teleportation under arbitrary two-qubit unitary transformation, we derive relations of separabilities for joint measurements at a sending station and for unitary operations at a receiving station. From the relations of separabilities it is found that an inseparable quantum channel always leads to a total teleportation of entanglement with an inseparable joint measurement and/or a nonlocal unitary operation.
Experimentally feasible scheme for teleportation of atomic entangled state via entanglement swapping is proposed in cavity quantum electrodynamics (QED) without joint Bell-state measurement (BSM). In the teleportation processes the interaction between atoms and a single-mode nonresonant cavity with the assistance of a strong classical driving field substitute the joint measurements. The discussion of the scheme indicates that it can be realized by current technologies.
Quantum error correction is an essential tool for reliably performing tasks for processing quantum information on a large scale. However, integration into quantum circuits to achieve these tasks is problematic when one realizes that non-transverse operations, which are essential for universal quantum computation, lead to the spread of errors. Quantum gate teleportation has been proposed as an elegant solution for this. Here, one replaces these fragile, non-transverse inline gates with the generation of specific, highly entangled offline resource states that can be teleported into the circuit t…
In our work we consider the following problem in the context of teleportation: an unknown pure state have to be teleported and there are two laboratories which can perform the task. One laboratory uses a pure non maximally entangled channel but has a capability of performing the joint measurement on bases with a constrained degree of entanglement; the other lab makes use of a mixed X-state channel but can perform a joint measurement on bases with higher entanglement degrees. We compare the average teleportation fidelity achieved in both cases, finding that the fidelity achieved with the X-stat…
We use hyper-entanglement to experimentally realize deterministic entanglement swapping based on quantum Elegant Joint Measurements. These are joint projections of two qubits onto highly symmetric, iso-entangled, bases. We report measurement fidelities no smaller than $97.4\%$. We showcase the applications of these measurements by using the entanglement swapping procedure to demonstrate quantum correlations in the form of proof-of-principle violations of both bilocal Bell inequalities and more stringent correlation criteria corresponding to full network nonlocality. Our results are a foray int…
Network Bell experiments give rise to a form of quantum nonlocality that conceptually goes beyond Bell's theorem. We investigate here the simplest network, known as the bilocality scenario. We depart from the typical use of the Bell State Measurement in the network central node and instead introduce a family of symmetric iso-entangled measurement bases that generalise the so-called Elegant Joint Measurement. This leads us to report noise-tolerant quantum correlations that elude bilocal variable models. Inspired by these quantum correlations, we introduce network Bell inequalities for the biloc…
The quantum teleportation process is composed of a joint measurement performed upon two subsystems A and B (uncorrelated), followed by a unitary transformation (parameters of which depend on the outcome of the measurement) performed upon a third subsystem C (EPR correlated with system B). The information about the outcome of the measurement is transferred by classical means. The measurement performed upon the systems A and B collapses their joint wavefunction into one of the four {\it entangled} Bell states. It is shown here that this measurement process plus a possible measurement on the thir…
In order to study N-locality without inputs in long lines and in configurations with loops, e.g. the triangle, we introduce a natural joint measurement on two qubits different from the usual Bell state measurement. The resulting quantum probability $p(a_1,a_2,...,a_N)$ has interesting features. In particular the probability that all results are equal is that large, while respecting full symmetry, that it seems highly implausible that one could reproduce it with any N-local model, though - unfortunately - I have not been unable to prove it.
We propose a protocol to achieve high fidelity quantum state teleportation of a macroscopic atomic ensemble using a pair of quantum-correlated atomic ensembles. We show how to prepare this pair of ensembles using quasiperfect quantum state transfer processes between light and atoms. Our protocol relies on optical joint measurements of the atomic ensemble states and magnetic feedback reconstruction.
An experimentally realizable model based on the interaction between an excited two-level atom and a radiation field inside two quantum electrodynamics cavities is proposed. It consists of sending an excited two-level atom through two serial cavities which contain the radiation field. Hence, the Lindblad master equation described the reduced density matrix of the joint-joint field system inside the cavities is exactly solved in Markovian and non-Markovian regimes. However, the rate of entanglement inherent in the total field-field system are evaluated using various witnesses of entanglement suc…
Teleportation of a pure two particle entangled state of continuous variables by triplet of the Greenberger-Horne-Zeilinger form is considered. The three-particle basis needed for a joint measurement is found. It describes a measurement of momentum one of single particle and total moment and relative position of the two others. Optical realization using squeezed state of the light is discussed.
We discuss the structure of teleportation. By associating matrices to the preparation and measurement states, we show that for a unitary transformation M there is a full teleportation procedure for obtaining M|S> from a given state |S>. The key to this construction is a diagrammatic intepretation of matrix multiplication that applies equally well to a topological composition of a maximum and a minimum that underlies the structure of the teleportation. This paper is a preliminary report on joint work with H. Carteret and S. Lomonaco.
We propose a polarization to orbital angular momentum teleportation scheme using entangled photon pairs generated by spontaneous parametric down conversion. By making a joint detection of the polarization and angular momentum parity of a single photon, we are able to detect all the Bell-states and perform, in principle, perfect teleportation from a discrete to a continuous system using minimal resources. The proposed protocol implementation demands experimental resources that are currently available in quantum optics laboratories.
Teleportation of an EPR pair using triplet in state of the Horne-Greenberger-Zeilinger form to two receivers is considered. It needs a three-particle basis for joint measurement. By contrast the one qubit teleportation the required basis is not maximally entangled. It consists of the states corresponding to the maximally entanglement of two particles only. Using outcomes of measurement both receivers can recover an unknown EPR state however one of them can not do it separately. Teleportation of the N-particle entanglement is discussed.

We show how the partial entanglement inherent in a two mode squeezed vacuum state admits two different teleportation protocols. These two protocols refer to the different kinds of joint measurements that may be made by the sender. One protocol is the recently implemented quadrature phase approach of Braunstein and Kimble[Phys. Rev. Lett.{\bf 80}, 869 (1998)]. The other is based on recognising that a two mode squeezed vacuum state is also entangled with respect to photon number difference and phase sum. We show that this protocol can also realise teleportation, however limitations can arise due…
Quantum teleportation allows to transfer unknown quantum states between distant parties. It is not only a primitive of quantum communications but also an essential task in realization of the quantum networks for promising applications such as quantum cryptography and distributed quantum computation. Despite recent substantial progresses in the realization of quantum communications, teleportation of shared quantum information between multiple senders and receivers is still missing. Here we propose and experimentally demonstrate quantum teleportation among spatially separate parties in a quantum…
We show that the recently proposed scheme of teleportation of continuous variables [S.L. Braunstein and H.J. Kimble, Phys. Rev. Lett. 80, 869 (1998)] can be improved by a conditional measurement in the preparation of the entangled state shared by the sender and the recipient. The conditional measurement subtracts photons from the original entangled two-mode squeezed vacuum, by transmitting each mode through a low-reflectivity beam splitter and performing a joint photon-number measurement on the reflected beams. In this way the degree of entanglement of the shared state is increased and so is t…
The single qubit quantum teleportation (sender and receiver are Alice and Bob respectively) is analyzed from the aspect of the quantum information theories. The various quantum entropies are computed at each stage, which ensures the emergence of the entangled states in the intermediate step. The mutual information $S(B:C)$ becomes non-zero before performing quantum measurement, which seems to be consistent to the original purpose of the quantum teleportation. It is shown that if the teleported state $|ψ>$ is near the computational basis, the quantum measurement in $C$-system is dominantly resp…
By leveraging shared entanglement between a pair of qubits, one can teleport a quantum state from one particle to another. Recent advances have uncovered an intrinsically many-body generalization of quantum teleportation, with an elegant and surprising connection to gravity. In particular, the teleportation of quantum information relies on many-body dynamics, which originate from strongly-interacting systems that are holographically dual to gravity; from the gravitational perspective, such quantum teleportation can be understood as the transmission of information through a traversable wormhole…
The hitherto unexplored nonlocality of quantum correlations in the information transfer protocol of remote state preparation (RSP) is investigated in terms of a unified nonlocality argument formulated for teleportation as well as for two distinct RSP schemes. The argument differs only in the respective types of local measurements used in each scenario. One of the RSP schemes uses single particle projective measurements, while the other uses joint Bell-basis measurements. Interestingly, the quantum mechanical violations of the Bell-CHSH type inequalities formulated for each of the RSP setups, w…
We explore the mechanism of quantum teleportation by analyzing the weak measurement statistics post-selected by the result of the Bell measurement for the joint system composed of the input A and the spatially separated output B. It is shown that the weak measurement statistics observed before the Bell measurement includes correlations which relate every physical property in the input A to a corresponding physical property in the output B. The Bell measurement thus identifies the accidental relation between A and B already present in the quantum fluctuations of the input state. Significantly, …
We present a novel discrete-variable quantum teleportation scheme using pulsed optomechanics. In our proposal, we demonstrate how an unknown optical input state can be transferred onto the joint state of a pair of mechanical oscillators, without physically interacting with one another. We further analyze how experimental imperfections will affect the fidelity of the teleportation and highlight how our scheme can be realized in current state-of-the-art optomechanical systems.
Future quantum internet applications will derive their power from the ability to share quantum information across the network. Quantum teleportation allows for the reliable transfer of quantum information between distant nodes, even in the presence of highly lossy network connections. While many experimental demonstrations have been performed on different quantum network platforms, moving beyond directly connected nodes has so far been hindered by the demanding requirements on the pre-shared remote entanglement, joint qubit readout and coherence times. Here we realize quantum teleportation bet…
Very recently, Lee et al. proposed the first secure quantum teleporation protocol, where quantum information shared by an arbitrary number of senders can be transferred to another arbitrary number of receivers. Here, by introducing quantum walks, a novel secure (n,m) quantum teleportation of shared quantum secret between n senders and $m$ receivers is presented. Firstly, two kinds of (n,2) teleportation schemes are proposed by n-walker quantum walks on the line, the first walker of which is driven by three coins, respectively, based on two kinds of coin operators: the homogeneous coins and the…
Recently, a large number of protocols for bidirectional controlled state teleportation (BCST) have been proposed using $n$-qubit entangled states ($n\in\{5,6,7\}$) as quantum channel. Here, we propose a general method of selecting multi-qubit $(n>4)$ quantum channels suitable for BCST and show that all the channels used in the existing protocols of BCST can be obtained using the proposed method. Further, it is shown that the quantum channels used in the existing protocols of BCST forms only a negligibly small subset of the set of all the quantum channels that can be constructed using the propo…
In quantum teleportation, the state of a single quantum system is disembodied into classical information and purely quantum correlations, to be later reconstructed onto a second system that has never directly interacted with the first one. This counterintuitive phenomenon is a cornerstone of quantum information science due to its essential role in several important tasks such as the long-distance transmission of quantum information using quantum repeaters. In this context, a challenge of paramount importance is the distribution of entanglement between remote nodes, and to use this entanglement…
In this paper we propose two schemes for teleportation of a sub-class of tripartite states, the first one with the four-qubit cluster state and the second one with two Bell pairs as entanglement channels. A four-qubit joint measurement in the first case and two Bell measurements in the second are performed by the sender. Appropriate unitary operations on the qubits at the receiver's end along with an ancilla qubit result in the perfect teleportation of the tripartite state. Analysis of the quantum circuits employed in these schemes reveal that in our technique the desired quantum tasks are ach…
We propose a linear optical scheme for the teleportation of unknown ionic states, the entanglement concentration for nonmaximally entangled states for ions via entanglement swapping and the remote preparation for ionic entangled states. The unique advantage of the scheme is that the joint Bell-state measurement needed in the previous schemes is not needed in the current scheme, i.e. the joint Bell-state measurement has been converted into the product of separate measurements on single ions and photons. In addition, the current scheme can realize the quantum information processes for ions by us…
Quantum teleportation of an unknown quantum state is one of the few communication tasks which has no classical counterpart. Usually the aim of teleportation is to send an unknown quantum state to a receiver. But is it possible in some way that the receiver's state has more quantum discord than the sender's state? We look at a scenario where Alice and Bob share a pure quantum state and Alice has an unknown quantum state. She performs joint measurement on her qubits and channel to prepare Bob's qubits in a mixed state which has higher quantum discord than hers. We also observe an interesting fea…
Quantum teleportation, the faithful transfer of an unknown input state onto a remote quantum system, is a key component in long distance quantum communication protocols and distributed quantum computing. At the same time, high frequency nano-optomechanical systems hold great promise as nodes in a future quantum network, operating on-chip at low-loss optical telecom wavelengths with long mechanical lifetimes. Recent demonstrations include entanglement between two resonators, a quantum memory and microwave to optics transduction. Despite these successes, quantum teleportation of an optical input…
We consider the quantum teleportation of continuous variables modeled by Unruh-DeWitt detectors coupled to a common quantum field initially in the Minkowski vacuum. An unknown coherent state of an Unruh-DeWitt detector is teleported from one inertial agent (Alice) to an almost uniformly accelerated agent (Rob, for relativistic motion), using a detector pair initially entangled and shared by these two agents. The averaged physical fidelity of quantum teleportation, which is independent of the observer's frame, always drops below the best fidelity value from classical teleportation before the de…
Weak measurements are a new tool for characterizing post-selected quantum systems during their evolution. Weak measurement was originally formulated in terms of von Neumann interactions which are practically available for only the simplest single-particle observables. In the present work, we extend and greatly simplify a recent, experimentally feasible, reformulation of weak measurement for multiparticle observables [Resch and Steinberg (2004, Phys. Rev. Lett., 92, 130402)]. We also show that the resulting ``joint weak values'' take on a particularly elegant form when expressed in terms of ann…
We present a general dilation scheme for quantum instruments with continuous outcome space in finite dimensions, in terms of an indirect POVM measurement performed on a finite dimensional ancilla. The general result is then applied to a large class of instruments generated by operator frames, which contains group-covariant instruments as a particular case, and allows to construct dilation schemes based on a measurement on the ancilla followed by a conditional feed-forward operation on the output. In the case of tight operator frames our construction generalizes quantum teleportation and telecl…
A quantum teleportation between two quantum spin Hall insulator (QSHI) rings is proposed. A qubit state is generated in the first QSHI ring and the second is used as a quantum channel in entangled QSHI state. In the intersection of outer edges is placed a joint detector, allowing a Bell state analysis. After the Bell state measurement, Alice, that is composed originally of a qubit in the first QSHI ring and one spin state in the second QSHI ring, allows Bob, that is composed of the other spin edge state in the second QSHI ring, to realize the corresponding control of the tunneling amplitudes i…
An entangled two-mode coherent state is studied within the framework of $2\times 2$ dimensional Hilbert space. An entanglement concentration scheme based on joint Bell-state measurements is worked out. When the entangled coherent state is embedded in vacuum environment, its entanglement is degraded but not totally lost. It is found that the larger the initial coherent amplitude, the faster entanglement decreases. We investigate a scheme to teleport a coherent superposition state while considering a mixed quantum channel. We find that the decohered entangled coherent state may be useless for qu…
Port-based teleportation (PBT) is a protocol of quantum teleportation in which a receiver does not have to apply correction to the transmitted state. In this protocol two spatially separated parties can teleport an unknown quantum state only by exploiting joint measurements on number of shared $d-$dimensional maximally entangled states (resource state) together with a state to be teleported and one way classical communication. In this paper we analyse for the first time the recycling protocol for the deterministic PBT beyond the qubit case. In the recycling protocol the main idea is to re-use …
The application of Quantum Teleportation for control of classical dynamic systems and autonomy is proposed in this paper. Quantum teleportation is an intrinsically quantum phenomenon, and was first introduced by teleporting an unknown quantum state via dual classical and Einstein-Podolsky-Rosen channels in 1993. In this paper, we consider the possibility of applying this quantum technique to autonomous mobile classical platforms for control and autonomy purposes for the first time in this research. First, a review of how Quantum Entanglement and Quantum Cryptography can be integrated into macr…
