This article explores additive codes with one-rank hull, offering key insights and constructions. The article introduces a novel approach to finding one-rank hull codes over finite fields by establishing a connection between self-orthogonal elements and solutions of quadratic forms. It also provides a precise count of self-orthogonal elements for any duality over the finite field $\mathbb{F}_q$, particularly odd primes. Additionally, construction methods for small rank hull codes are introduced. The highest possible minimum distance among additive one-rank hull codes is denoted by $d_1[n,k]_{p^e,M}$. The value of $d_1[n,k]_{p^e,M}$ for $k=1,2$ and $n\geq 2$ with respect to any duality $M$ over any finite field $\mathbb{F}_{p^e}$ is determined. Furthermore, the new quaternary one-rank hull codes are identified over non-symmetric dualities with better parameters than symmetric ones.
A subset of a vector space $\mathbb{F}_q^n$ is $K$-additive if it is a linear space over the subfield $K\subseteq \mathbb{F}_q$. Let $q=p^e$, $p$ prime, and $e>1$. Bounds on the rank and dimension of the kernel of generalised Hadamard (GH) codes which are $\mathbb{F}_p$-additive are established. For specific ranks and dimensions of the kernel within these bounds, $\mathbb{F}_p$-additive GH codes are constructed. Moreover, for the case $e=2$, it is shown that the given bounds are tight and it is possible to construct an $\mathbb{F}_p$-additive GH code for all allowable ranks and dimensions of t…

A Z2Z4-additive code C subset of Z_2^alpha x Z_4^beta is called cyclic if the set of coordinates can be partitioned into two subsets, the set of Z_2 and the set of Z_4 coordinates, such that any cyclic shift of the coordinates of both subsets leaves the code invariant. Let Phi(C) be the binary Gray image of C. We study the rank and the dimension of the kernel of a Z2Z4-additive cyclic code C, that is, the dimensions of the binary linear codes <Phi(C)> and ker(Phi(C)). We give upper and lower bounds for these parameters. It is known that the codes <Phi(C)> and ker(Phi(C)) are binary images of Z…
A code $C = Φ(\mathcal{C})$ is called $\mathbb{Z}_p \mathbb{Z}_{p^2}$-linear if it's the Gray image of the $\mathbb{Z}_p \mathbb{Z}_{p^2}$-additive code $\mathcal{C}$. In this paper, the rank and the dimension of the kernel of $\mathcal{C}$ are studied. Both of the codes $\langle Φ(\mathcal{C}) \rangle$ and $\ker(Φ(\mathcal{C}))$ are proven $\mathbb{Z}_p \mathbb{Z}_{p^2}$-additive cyclic codes, and their generator polynomials are determined. Finally, accurate values of rank and the dimension of the kernel of some classes of $\mathbb{Z}_p \mathbb{Z}_{p^2}$-additive cyclic codes are considered.
A code C is Z2Z4-additive if the set of coordinates can be partitioned into two subsets X and Y such that the punctured code of C by deleting the coordinates outside X (respectively, Y) is a binary linear code (respectively, a quaternary linear code). In this paper, the rank and dimension of the kernel for Z2Z4-linear codes, which are the corresponding binary codes of Z2Z4-additive codes, are studied. The possible values of these two parameters for Z2Z4-linear codes, giving lower and upper bounds, are established. For each possible rank r between these bounds, the construction of a Z2Z4-linear…
We consider the following generalization of an $(n,k)$ MDS code for application to an erasure channel with additive noise. Like an MDS code, our code is required to be decodable from any $k$ received symbols, in the absence of noise. In addition, we require that the noise margin for every allowable erasure pattern be as large as possible and that the code satisfy a power constraint. In this paper we derive performance bounds and present a few designs for low rank lattice codes for an additive noise channel with erasures.
This paper investigates the decoding of certain Gabidulin codes that were transmitted over a channel with space-symmetric errors. Space-symmetric errors are additive error matrices that have the property that their column and row spaces are equal. We show that for channels restricted to space-symmetric errors, with high probability errors of rank up to 2(n-k)/3 can be decoded with a Gabidulin code of length n and dimension k, using a weak-self orthogonal basis as code locators.
In this paper an interpolation-based decoding algorithm to decode Gabidulin codes, transmitted through a finely restricted channel, is proposed. The algorithm is able to decode rank errors beyond half the minimum distance by one unit. Also the existing decoding algorithms for generalized twisted Gabidulin codes and additive generalized twisted Gabidulin codes are improved.
Let $\cal M$ denote the set ${\cal S}_{n, q}$ of $n \times n$ symmetric matrices with entries in ${\rm GF}(q)$ or the set ${\cal H}_{n, q^2}$ of $n \times n$ Hermitian matrices whose elements are in ${\rm GF}(q^2)$. Then $\cal M$ equipped with the rank distance $d_r$ is a metric space. We investigate $d$-codes in $({\cal M}, d_r)$ and construct $d$-codes whose sizes are larger than the corresponding additive bounds. In the Hermitian case, we show the existence of an $n$-code of $\cal M$, $n$ even and $n/2$ odd, of size $\left(3q^{n}-q^{n/2}\right)/2$, and of a $2$-code of size $q^6+ q(q-1)(q^4…
