The purpose of this paper is to investigate the existence and estimation of Hausdorff and fractal dimension of global attractors for a delayed reaction-diffusion equation on an unbounded domain. The noncompactness of the domain cause the Laplace operator has a continuous spectrum, the semigroup generated by the linear part and the Sobolev embeddings no longer compact, making the problem more difficult compared with the equation on bounded domain. In order to adopt Hausdorff and fractal dimension dimension estimation tools established for dynamical systems in Hilbert space, we recast the equation in an auxiliary Hilbert space. We first obtain the existence of global solutions on unbounded domain by a perturbation semigroup approach which generates an infinite dimensional dynamical system. Then, we show the existence of global attractors by firstly showing the existence of an absorbing set and then give a an uniform a priori estimates for far-field values of solutions which facilitate us to prove the asymptotic compactness of the generated dynamical system. After establishing the variational equation in the auxiliary Hilbert space and the differentiable properties of the generated dynamical system, the upper estimate of both Hausdorff and fractal dimensions of the global attractors is obtained.
If the semigroup is slowly non-dissipative, i.e., its solutions can diverge to infinity as time tends to infinity, one still can study its dynamics via the approach by the unbounded attractors - the counterpart of the classical notion of global attractors. We continue the development of this theory started by Chepyzhov and Goritskii [CG92]. We provide the abstract results on the unbouded attractor existence, and we study the properties of these attractors, as well as of unbounded $ω$-limit sets in slowly non-dissipative setting. We also develop the pullback non-autonomous counterpart of the un…
For geometric Lorenz attractors (including the classical Lorenz attractor) we obtain a greatly simplified proof of the central limit theorem which applies also to the more general class of codimension two singular hyperbolic attractors. We also obtain the functional central limit theorem and moment estimates, as well as iterated versions of these results. A consequence is deterministic homogenisation (convergence to a stochastic differential equation) for fast-slow dynamical systems whenever the fast dynamics is singularly hyperbolic of codimension two.
We study the Turing-Hopf bifurcation and give a simple and explicit calculation formula of the normal forms for a general two-components system of reaction-diffusion equation with time delays. We declare that our formula can be automated by Matlab. At first, we extend the normal forms method given by Faria in 2000 to Hopf-zero singularity. Then, an explicit formula of the normal forms for Turing-Hopf bifurcation are given. Finally, we obtain the possible attractors of the original system near the Turing-Hopf singularity by the further analysis of the normal forms, which mainly include, the spa…
Pullback attractor for a non local non-autonomous evolution equation in an unbounded domain
The aim of this paper is to prove the existence and qualitative property of random attractors for a stochastic nonlocal delayed reaction-diffusion equation (SNDRDE) on a semi-infinite interval with a Dirichlet boundary condition on the finite end. This equation models the spatial-temporal evolution of the mature individuals for a two-stage species whose juvenile and adults both diffuse that lives on a semi-infinite domain and subject to random perturbations. By transforming the SNDRDE into a random evolution equation with delay, by means of a stationary conjugate transformation, we first estab…
We investigate a diffusive predator-prey model by incorporating the fear effect into prey population, since the fear of predators could visibly reduce the reproduction of prey. By introducing the mature delay as bifurcation parameter, we find this makes the predator-prey system more complicated and usually induces Hopf and Hopf-Hopf bifurcations. The formulas determining the properties of Hopf and Hopf-Hopf bifurcations by computing the normal form on the center manifold are given. Near the Hopf-Hopf bifurcation point we give the detailed bifurcation set by investigating the universal unfoldin…
The delayed Duffing equation $\ddot{x}(t)+x(t-T)+x^3(t)=0$ is shown to possess an infinite and unbounded sequence of rapidly oscillating, asymptotically stable periodic solutions, for fixed delays such that $T^2<\tfrac{3}{2}π^2$. In contrast to several previous works which involved approximate solutions, the treatment here is exact.
The existence of a global attractor for wave equations in unbounded domains is a challenging problem due to the non-compactness of the Sobolev embeddings. To overcome this difficulty, some authors have worked with weighted Sobolev spaces which restrict the choice of the initial data. Using the "tail estimation method" introduced by B. Wang for reaction diffusion equations, we establish in this paper the existence of a global attractor for two wave equations in the traditional Hilbert spaces $\displaystyle H^1(Ω)\times L^2(Ω)$ where $Ω$ is an unbounded domain of $\R^N$. The first equation, with…
This paper investigates the longtime behavior of delayed 3D Navier-Stokes equations in terms of attractors. The study will strongly rely on the investigation of the linearized Navier-Stokes system, and the relationship between the discrete dynamical flow for the linearized system and the continuous flow associated to the original system. Assuming the viscosity to be sufficiently large, there exists a unique local attractor for the delayed 3D Navier-Stokes equations. Moreover, the local attractor reduces to a singleton set.
In this paper, we prove the existences of pullback attractors in $L^{p}(\mathbb{R}^N)\times L^{2}(\mathbb{R}^N)$ for stochastic Fitzhugh-Nagumo system driven by both additive noises and deterministic non-autonomous forcings. The nonlinearity is polynomial like growth with exponent $p-1$. The asymptotic compactness for the cocycle in $L^{p}(\mathbb{R}^N)\times L^{2}(\mathbb{R}^N)$ is proved by using asymptotic a priori method, where the plus and minus signs of the nonlinearity at large value are not required.
Dimension of attractors and invariant sets of damped wave equations in unbounded domains
在相当一般的假设下,证明了半线性阻尼波动方程$\mathcal I$ +αu_t+β(x)u-\Deltau = f(x,u),(t,x)\in [0,+ \infty [ \times Ω,u = 0,(t,x)\in [0,+ \infty [ \times \partial Ωin $H^1_0(Ω)\times L^2(Ω) has finite Hausdorff and fractal dimension. Here $ Ω $ is a regular, possibly unbounded, domain in $ \R^3 $ and $ f(x,u)$ is a nonlinearity of critical growth. The nonlinearity $ f(x,u),u)$ needs not to satisfy any dissipativeness assumption and the invariant subset $ \mathcal I $ needs not to be an attractor. If $ f(x,u)$ is dissipative and $ \mathcal I $ is the global attractor, we give an explicit bound on the Hausdorff and f…
The global asymptotic behavior of a stochastic Hopfield neural network model (HNNM) with delays is explored by studying the existence and structure of random attractors. It is first proved that the trajectory field of the stochastic delayed HNNM admits an almost sure continuous version, which is compact for $t>τ$ (where $τ$ is the delay) by a delicate construction based on the random semiflow generated by the diffusion term. Then, this version is shown to generate a random dynamical system (RDS) by piece-wise linear approximation, after which the existence of a random absorbing set is obtained…
The asymptotically autonomous robustness of random attractors of stochastic fluid equations defined on \emph{bounded} domains has been considered in the literature. In this article, we initially consider this topic (almost surely and in probability) for a non-autonomous stochastic 2D Navier-Stokes equation driven by additive and multiplicative noise defined on some \emph{unbounded Poincaré domains}. There are two significant keys to study this topic: what is the asymptotically autonomous limiting set of the time-section of random attractors as time goes to negative infinity, and how to show th…
In this paper we consider the non local evolution equation $$ \frac{\partial u(x,t)}{\partial t} + u(x,t)= \int_{\mathbb{R}^{N}}J(x-y)f(u(y,t))ρ(y)dy+ h(x). %\,\,\, h \geq 0. $$ We show that this equation defines a continuous flow in both the space $C_{b}(\mathbb{R}^{N})$ of bounded continuous functions and the space $C_ρ(\mathbb{R}^{N})$ of continuous functions $u$ such that $u \cdot ρ$ is bounded, where $ρ$ is a convenient "weight function"'. We show the existence of an absorbing ball for the flow in $C_{b}(\mathbb{R}^{N})$ and the existence of a global compact attractor for the flow in $C_ρ…
Asymptotic random dynamics of weak solutions for a damped stochastic wave equation with the nonlinearity of arbitrarily large exponent and the additive noise on $\mathbb{R}^n$ is investigated. The existence of a pullback random attractor is proved in a parameter region with a breakthrough in proving the pullback asymptotic compactness of the cocycle with the quasi-trajectories defined on the integrable function space of arbitrary exponent and on the unbounded domain of arbitrary dimension.
In this paper we obtain a detailed description of the global and cocycle attractors for the skew-product semiflows induced by the mild solutions of a family of scalar linear-dissipative parabolic problems over a minimal and uniquely ergodic flow. We consider the case of null upper Lyapunov exponent for the linear part of the problem. Then, two different types of attractors can appear, depending on whether the linear equations have a bounded or an unbounded associated real cocycle. In the first case (e.g.~in periodic equations), the structure of the attractor is simple, whereas in the second ca…
In this paper, we mainly study the regularity of pullback $\mathcal{D}$-attractors for a nonautonomous nonclassical diffusion equation with delay term $b(t,u_t)$ which contains some hereditary characteristics. Under a critical nonlinearity $f$, a time-dependent force $g(t,x)$ with exponential growth and a delayed force term $b(t,u_t)$, we prove that there exists a pullback $\mathcal{D}$-attractor $\mathcal{A}=\{A(t):t \in \mathbb{R}\}$ in $\mathbb{K}^1=H_0^1(Ω) \times L^2((-h,0);L^2(Ω))$ to problem \eqref{ine01} and for each $t \in \mathbb{R}$, $A(t)$ is bounded in $\mathbb{K}^2=H^2(Ω) \cap H_…
The delayed logistic equation (also known as Hutchinson's equation or Wright's equation) was originally introduced to explain oscillatory phenomena in ecological dynamics. While it motivated the development of a large number of mathematical tools in the study of nonlinear delay differential equations, it also received criticism from modellers because of the lack of a mechanistic biological derivation and interpretation. Here we propose a new delayed logistic equation, which has clear biological underpinning coming from cell population modelling. This nonlinear differential equation includes te…
The aim of this paper is to obtain an estimation of Hausdorff as well as fractal dimensions of random attractors for a class of stochastic partial differential equations with delay. The stochastic equation is first transformed into a delayed random partial differential equation by means of a random conjugation, which is then recast into an auxiliary Hilbert space. For the obtained equation, it is firstly proved that it generates a random dynamical system (RDS) in the auxiliary Hilbert space. Then it is shown that the equation possesses random attractors by a uniform estimate of the solution an…
Double Hopf bifurcation analysis can be used to reveal some complicated dynamical behavior in a dynamical system, such as the existence or coexistence of periodic orbits, quasi-periodic orbits, or even chaos. In this paper, an algorithm for deriving the normal form near a codimension-two double Hopf bifurcation of a reaction-diffusion system with time delay and Neumann boundary condition is rigorously established, by employing the center manifold reduction technique and the normal form method. We find that the dynamical behavior near bifurcation points are proved to be governed by twelve disti…
This work addresses fundamental issues related to the structure and conditioning of linear time-delayed models of non-linear dynamics on an attractor. While this approach has been well-studied in the asymptotic sense (e.g. for infinite number of delays), the non-asymptotic setting is not well-understood. First, we show that the minimal time-delays required for perfect signal recovery are solely determined by the sparsity in the Fourier spectrum for scalar systems. For the vector case, we provide a rank test and a geometric interpretation for the necessary and sufficient conditions for the exis…
This paper deals with the multivalued non-autonomous random dynamical system generated by the non-autonomous stochastic wave equations on unbounded domains, which has a non-Lipschitz nonlinearity with critical exponent in the three dimensional case. We introduce the concept of weak upper semicontinuity of multivalued functions and use such continuity to prove the measurability of multivalued functions from a metric space to a separable Banach space. By this approach, we show the measurability of pullback attractors of the multivalued random dynamical system of the wave equations regardless of …
