The main result of this paper is that for any norm on a complex or real $n$-dimensional linear space, every extremal basis satisfies inverted triangle inequality with scaling factor $2^n-1$. Furthermore, the constant $2^n-1$ is tight. We also prove that the norms of any two extremal bases are comparable with a factor of $2^n-1$, which, intuitively, means that any two extremal bases are quantitatively equivalent with the stated tolerance.
The paper studies Bernstein type inequalities for restrictions of holomorphic polynomials to graphs $Γ_f\subset\mathbb C^{n+m}$ of holomorphic maps $f:\mathbb C^n\rightarrow\mathbb C^m$. We establish general properties of exponents in such inequalities and describe some classes of graphs admitting Bernstein type inequalities of optimal exponents and of exponents of polynomial growth.
In the paper, we establish the Hermite-Hadamard type inequalities for the generalized s-convex functions in the second sense on real linear fractal set $\mathbb{R}^α(0<α<1).$
The main goal of this article is to establish several new upper and lower bounds for the $\mathbb{A}$-numerical radius of $2\times 2$ operator matrices, where $\mathbb{A}$ be the $2\times 2$ diagonal operator matrix whose diagonal entries are positive bounded operator $A$.
Let $\mathbb{A}= \begin{pmatrix} A & 0 \\ 0 & A \\ \end{pmatrix} $ be a $2\times2$ diagonal operator matrix whose each diagonal entry is a bounded positive (semidefinite) linear operator $A$ acting on a complex Hilbert space $\mathcal{H}$. In this paper, we derive several $\mathbb{A}$-numerical radius inequalities for $2\times 2$ operator matrices whose entries are bounded with respect to the seminorm induced by the positive operator $A$ on $\mathcal{H}$. Some applications of our inequalities are also given.
We study dimension-free $L^p$ inequalities for $r$-variations of the Hardy--Littlewood averaging operators defined over symmetric convex bodies in $\mathbb R^d$.
In this note, we establish a $L^p-$version of the Poincaré--Sobolev inequalities in the hyperbolic spaces $\mathbb H^n$. The interest of this result is that it relates both the Poincaré (or Hardy) inequality and the Sobolev inequality with the sharp constant in $\mathbb H^n$. Our approach is based on the comparison of the $L^p-$norm of gradient of the symmetric decreasing rearrangement of a function in both the hyperbolic space and the Euclidean space, and the sharp Sobolev inequalities in Euclidean spaces. This approach also gives the proof of the Poincaré--Gagliardo--Nirenberg and Poincaré--…
We establish a good lambda inequality relating to the distribution function of Riesz potential and fractional maximal function on $\left(\mathbb{R}^n, dμ\right)$ where $μ$ is a positive Radon measure which doesn't necessarily satisfy a doubling condition. This is extended to weights $w$ in $A_{\infty}(μ)$ associated to the measure $μ$. We also derive potential inequalities as an application.
Let $f \in M_+(\mathbb{R}_+)$, the class of nonnegative, Lebesgure-measurable functions on $\mathbb{R}_+=(0, \infty)$. We deal with integral operators of the form \[ (T_Kf)(x)=\int_{\mathbb{R}_+}K(x,y)f(y)\, dy, \quad x \in \mathbb{R}_+, \] with $K \in M_+(\mathbb{R}_+^2)$.
In this paper, we present some upper bounds for unitarily invariant norms inequalities. Among other inequalities, we show some upper bounds for the Hilbert-Schmidt norm. In particular, we prove \begin{align*} \|f(A)Xg(B)\pm g(B)Xf(A)\|_2\leq \left\|\frac{(I+|A|)X(I+|B|)+(I+|B|)X(I+|A|)}{d_Ad_B}\right\|_2, \end{align*} where $A, B, X\in\mathbb{M}_n$ such that $A$, $B$ are Hermitian with $σ(A)\cupσ(B)\subset\mathbb{D}$ and $f, g$ are analytic on the complex unit disk $\mathbb{D}$, $g(0)=f(0)=1$, $\textrm{Re}(f)>0$ and $\textrm{Re}(g)>0$.
We characterize those pairs of weights $ σ$ on $ \mathbb{R}$ and $ τ$ on $ \mathbb{C}_+$ for which the Cauchy transform $\mathsf{C}_σ f (z) \equiv \int_{\mathbb{R}} \frac {f(x)} {x-z} \; σ(dx)$, $ z\in \mathbb{C}_+$, is bounded from $L ^2(\mathbb{R};σ)$ to $L ^{2}(\mathbb{C}_+; τ)$. The characterization is in terms of an $A_2$ condition on the pair of weights and testing conditions for the transform, extending the recent solution of the two weight inequality for the Hilbert transform. As corollaries of this result we derive (1) a characterization of embedding measures for the model space $K_\v…
In a 2013 paper, the author showed that the convolution of a compactly supported measure on the real line with a Gaussian measure satisfies a logarithmic Sobolev inequality (LSI). In a 2014 paper, the author gave bounds for the optimal constants in these LSIs. In this paper, we give a simpler, elementary proof of this result.
In this work, we extend the theory of Békollè-Bonami $B_p$ weights. Here we replace the constant $p$ by a non-negative measurable function $p(\cdot),$ which is log-Hölder continuous function with lower bound $1$. We show that the Bergman projector on the unit ball of $\mathbb C^n$ is continuous on the weighted variable Lebesgue spaces $L^{p(\cdot)}(w)$ if and only if $w$ belongs to the generalised Békollè-Bonami class $B_{p(\cdot)}$. To achieve this, we define a maximal function and show that it is bounded on $L^{p(\cdot)}(w)$ if $w\in B_{p(\cdot)}$. We next state and prove a weighted extrapol…
We solve a class of isoperimetric problems on $\mathbb{R}^N $ with respect to weights that are powers of the distance to the origin. For instance we show that if $k\in [0,1]$, then among all smooth sets $Ω$ in $\mathbb{R} ^N$ with fixed Lebesgue measure, $\int_{\partial Ω} |x|^k \, \mathscr{H}_{N-1} (dx)$ achieves its minimum for a ball centered at the origin. Our results also imply a weighted Polya-Szëgo principle. In turn, we establish radiality of optimizers in some Caffarelli-Kohn-Nirenberg inequalities, and we obtain sharp bounds for eigenvalues of some nonlinear problems.
In this paper we prove higher order Poincaré inequalities involving radial derivatives namely, \begin{equation*} \int_{\mathbb{H}^{N}} |\nabla_{r,\mathbb{H}^{N}}^{k} u|^2 \, {\rm d}v_{\mathbb{H}^{N}} \geq \bigg(\frac{N-1}{2}\bigg)^{2(k-l)} \int_{\mathbb{H}^{N}} |\nabla_{r,\mathbb{H}^{N}}^{l} u|^2 \, {\rm d}v_{\mathbb{H}^{N}} \ \ \text{ for all } u\in H^k(\mathbb{H}^{N}), \end{equation*} where underlying space is $N$-dimensional hyperbolic space $\mathbb{H}^{N}$, $0\leq l<k$ are integers and the constant $\big(\frac{N-1}{2}\big)^{2(k-l)}$ is sharp. Furthermore we improve the above inequalities …
We introduce some symmetric homogeneous means, and then show unitarily invariant norm inequalities for them, applying the method established by Hiai and Kosaki. Our new inequalities give the tighter bounds of the logarithmic mean than the inequalities given by Hiai and Kosaki. Some properties and norm continuities in parameter for our means are also discussed.
This paper is devoted to study the sharp Moser-Trudinger type inequalities in whole space $\mathbb R^N$, $N \geq 2$ in more general case. We first compute explicitly the \emph{normalized vanishing limit} and the \emph{normalized concentrating limit} of the Moser-Trudinger type functional associated with our inequalities over all the \emph{normalized vanishing sequences} and the \emph{normalized concentrating sequences}, respectively. Exploiting these limits together with the concentration-compactness principle of Lions type, we give a proof of the exitence of maximizers for these Moser-Truding…
Let $A$ be a positive (semidefinite) bounded linear operator acting on a complex Hilbert space $\big(\mathcal{H}, \langle \cdot\mid \cdot\rangle \big)$. The semi-inner product ${\langle x\mid y\rangle}_A := \langle Ax\mid y\rangle$, $x, y\in\mathcal{H}$ induces a seminorm ${\|\cdot\|}_A$ on $\mathcal{H}$. Let $T$ be an $A$-bounded operator on $\mathcal{H}$, the $A$-numerical radius of $T$ is given by \begin{align*} ω_A(T) = \sup\Big\{\big|{\langle Tx\mid x\rangle}_A\big|: \,\,x\in \mathcal{H}, \,{\|x\|}_A = 1\Big\}. \end{align*} In this paper, we establish several inequalities for $ω_\mathbb{A…
In this paper we describe the Euler semigroup $\{e^{-t\mathbb{E}^{*}\mathbb{E}}\}_{t>0}$ on homogeneous Lie groups, which allows us to obtain various types of the Hardy-Sobolev and Gagliardo-Nirenberg type inequalities for the Euler operator $\mathbb{E}$. Moreover, the sharp remainder terms of the Sobolev type inequality, maximal Hardy inequality and $|\cdot|$-radial weighted Hardy-Sobolev type inequality are established.
We establish several Poincaré--Sobolev type inequalities for the Lapalce--Beltrami operator $Δ_g$ in the hyperbolic space $\mathbb H^n$ with $n\geq 5$. These inequalities could be seen as the improved second order Poincaré inequality with remainder terms involving with the sharp Rellich inequality or sharp Sobolev inequality in $\mathbb H^n$. The novelty of these inequalities is that it combines both the sharp Poincaré inequality and the sharp Rellich inequality or the sharp Sobolev inequality for $Δ_g$ in $\mathbb H^n$. As a consequence, we obtain the Poincaré--Sobolev inequality for the seco…
Poincaré-Sobolev-type inequalities involving rearrangement-invariant norms on the entire $\mathbb{R}^n$ are provided. Namely, inequalities of the type $\|u-P\|_{Y(\mathbb{R}^n)}\leq C\|\nabla^m u\|_{X(\mathbb{R}^n)}$, where $X$ and $Y$ are either rearrangement-invariant spaces over $\mathbb{R}^n$ or Orlicz spaces over $\mathbb{R}^n$, $u$ is a $m-$times weakly differentiable function whose gradient is in $X$, $P$ is a polynomial of order at most $m-1$, depending on $u$, and $C$ is a constant independent of $u$, are studied. In a sense optimal rearrangement-invariant spaces or Orlicz spaces $Y$ …
The purpose of this paper is to establish the weighted norm inequalities of one-sided oscillatory integral operators by the aid of interpolation of operators with change of measures.
In this paper we give an extension of the classical Caffarelli-Kohn-Nirenberg inequalities: we show that for $1<p,q<\infty$, $0<r<\infty$ with $p+q\geq r$, $δ\in[0,1]\cap\left[\frac{r-q}{r},\frac{p}{r}\right]$ with $\frac{δr}{p}+\frac{(1-δ)r}{q}=1$ and $a$, $b$, $c\in\mathbb{R}$ with $c=δ(a-1)+b(1-δ)$, and for all functions $f\in C_{0}^{\infty}(\mathbb{R}^{n}\backslash\{0\})$ we have $$ \||x|^{c}f\|_{L^{r}(\mathbb{R}^{n})} \leq \left|\frac{p}{n-p(1-a)}\right|^δ \left\||x|^{a}\nabla f\right\|^δ_{L^{p}(\mathbb{R}^{n})} \left\||x|^{b}f\right\|^{1-δ}_{L^{q}(\mathbb{R}^{n})} $$ for $n\neq p(1-a)$, …
In this paper, we present various inequalities for generalized numerical radius of $2 \times 2$ block matrices for Schatten p-norm. Moreover, we give a refinement of the triangle inequality for the Schatten p-generalized numerical radius.
We set up some weighted norm inequalities for fractional oscillatory integral operators. As applications, the corresponding results for commutators formed by $BMO(\mathbb{R}^{n})$ functions and the operators are established.
In this article we study the Heinz and Hermite-Hadamard inequalities. We derive the whole series of refinements of these inequalities involving unitarily invariant norms, which improve some recent results, known from the literature. We also prove that if $A , B, X\in M_n(\mathbb{C})$ such that $A$ and $B$ are positive definite and $f$ is an operator monotone function on $(0,\infty)$. Then \begin{equation*} |||f(A)X-Xf(B)|||\leq \max\{||f'(A)||, ||f'(B)||\} |||AX-XB|||. \end{equation*} Finally we obtain a series of refinements of the Heinz operator inequalities, which were proved by Kittaneh an…
In this paper, we give a detailed survey on norm inequalities for inner product type integral transformers. We first consider unitarily invariant norms and operator valued functions. We then give results on norm inequalities for inner product type integral transformers in terms of Landau inequality, Gr\" uss inequality. Lastly, we explore some of the applications in quantum theory.
In this paper we study the vector-valued analogues of several inequalities for the Fourier transform. In particular, we consider the inequalities of Hausdorff--Young, Hardy--Littlewood, Paley, Pitt, Bochkarev and Zygmund. The Pitt inequalities include the Hausdorff--Young and Hardy--Littlewood inequalities and state that the Fourier transform is bounded from $L^p(\mathbb{R}^d,|\cdot|^{βp})$ into $L^q(\mathbb{R}^d,|\cdot|^{-γq})$ under certain condition on $p,q,β$ and $γ$. Vector-valued analogues are derived under geometric conditions on the underlying Banach space such as Fourier type and rela…
We obtain sharp inequalities for the k-plane transform, the "j-plane to k-plane" transform, and the corresponding dual transforms, acting on $L^p$ spaces with a radial power weight. The operator norms are explicitly evaluated. Some generalizations and open problems are discussed.
In this paper we introduce a new technique for proving norm inequalities in operator ideals with an unitarily invariant norm. Among the well known inequalities which can be proved with this technique are the Löwner-Heinz inequality, inequalities relating various operator means and the Corach-Porta-Recht inequality. We prove two general inequalities and from them we derive several inequalities by specialization, many of them new. We also show how some inequalities, known to be valid for matrices or bounded operators, can be extended with this technique to normed ideals in $C^*$-algebras, in par…
Global and local weighted Gagliardo-Nirenberg inequalities with doubling measures are established. These inequalities are key ingredients for the regularity theory and existence of strong solutions for strongly coupled parabolic and elliptic systems which are degenerate or singular because of the unboundedness of dependent and independent variables.
Fractional spline wavelet systems are considered in the work. Molecular structure of elements of such systems admits estimates connecting norms of fractional integrals' images and pre--images in Besov spaces.
In this paper, more inequalities between the operator norm and its numerical radius, for the class of normal operators, are established. Some of the obtained results are based on recent reverse results for the Schwarz inequality in Hilbert spaces due to the author.
Let $L=-Δ+V$ be a Schrödinger operator, where $Δ$ is the Laplacian operator on $\rz$, while the nonnegative potential $V$ belongs to certain reverse Hölder class. In this paper, we establish some weighted norm inequalities for commutators of Littlewood-Paley functions related to Schrödinger operators.
First, we correct the proof presented in [Abimbola Abolarinwa, Kamilu Rauf, Songting Yin, Sharp $L^{p}$ Hardy type and uncertainty principle inequalities on the sphere, Journal of Mathematical Inequalities, 13, 4 (2019), 1011 - 1022] and obtain a correct sharp version of an $L^{p}$ Hardy inequality on the sphere $\mathbb{S}^{n}$ for all $2\leq p<n$. Secondly, we prove sharp critical exponent $L^{n}$ inequalities on the sphere $\mathbb{S}^{n}$ in $\mathbb{R}^{n+1}$, $n\geq 2$. The singularity in this problem is the geodesic distance from an arbitrary point on the sphere.
In this article we present some new comparisons between the Heinz and Heron operator means, which improve some recent results known from the literature. We derive some refinements of these inequalities for unitarily invariant norms with the help of the contractive maps.
We obtain weighted $L^p$ inequalities for pseudo-differential operators with smooth symbols and their commutators by using a class of new weight functions which include Muckenhoupt weight functions. Our results improve essentially some well-known results.
We obtain new inequalities involving Berezin norm and Berezin number of bounded linear operators defined on a reproducing kernel Hilbert space $\mathscr{H}.$ Among many inequalities obtained here, it is shown that if $A$ is a positive bounded linear operator on $\mathscr{H}$, then $\|A\|_{ber}=\textbf{ber}(A)$, where $\|A\|_{ber}$ and $\textbf{ber}(A)$ are the Berezin norm and Berezin number of $A$, respectively. In contrast to the numerical radius, this equality does not hold for selfadjoint operators, which highlights the necessity of studying Berezin number inequalities independently.
We prove sharp inequalities of Hardy type for functions in the Sobolev space $W^{1,p}$ on the unit sphere $\mathbb{S}^{n-1}$ in $\mathbb{R}^{n}$. We achieve this in both the subcritical and critical cases. The method we use to show optimality takes into account all the constants involved in our inequalities.
Let $L=-Δ+V$ be a Schrödinger operator, where $Δ$ is the Laplacian operator on $\rz$, while nonnegative potential $V$ belongs to the reverse Hölder class. In this paper, we establish the weighted norm inequalities for some Schrödinger type operators, which include Riesz transforms and fractional integrals and their commutators. These results generalize substantially some well-known results.
We prove an inequality for unitarily invariant norms that interpolates between the Arithmetic-Geometric Mean inequality and the Cauchy-Schwarz inequality.
In this work we introduce a new measure for the dispersion of the spectral scale of a Hermitian (self-adjoint) operator acting on a separable infinite dimensional Hilbert space that we call spectral spread. Then, we obtain some submajorization inequalities involving the spectral spread of self-adjoint operators, that are related to Tao's inequalities for anti-diagonal blocks of positive operators, Kittaneh's commutator inequalities for positive operators and also related to the Arithmetic-Geometric mean inequality. In turn, these submajorization relations imply inequalities for unitarily invar…
In this paper, weighted norm inequalities with $A_p$ weights are established for the multilinear singular integral operators whose kernels satisfy $L^{r'}$-Hörmander regularity condition. As applications, we recover a weighted estimate for the multilinear Fourier multiplier obtained by Fujita and Tomita, and obtain several new weighted estimates for the multilinear Fourier multiplier as well.
We give an expression for a generalized numerical radius of Hilbert space operators and then apply it to obtain upper and lower bounds for the generalized numerical radius. We also establish some generalized numerical radius inequalities involving the product of two operators. Applications of our inequalities are also provided.
Let $x=a+ib$ be a complex number, so we have the following inequality $$(1/\sqrt{2})|a+b|\leq |x|\leq |a|+|b|$$ We give an operator version of above inequality. Also we obtain some results for normal operators.
Given a homogeneous k-th order differential operator $A (D)$ on $\mathbb{R}^n$ between two finite dimensional spaces, we establish the Hardy inequality $$\int_{\mathbb{R}^n} \frac{\lvert D^{k-1}u\rvert}{\lvert x \rvert} \,\mathrm{d} x \leq C \int_{\mathbb{R}^n} \lvert A(D)u\rvert $$ and the Sobolev inequality $$\lVert D^{k-n} u\rVert_{L^{\infty}(\mathbb{R}^n)}\leq C \int_{\mathbb{R}^n} \lvert A(D)u\rvert $$ when $A(D)$ is elliptic and satisfies a recently introduced cancellation property. We also study the necessity of these two conditions.
An operator $T$ acting on a Hilbert space is called $(α,β)$-normal ($0\leq α\leq 1\leq β$) if \begin{equation*} α^{2}T^{\ast }T\leq TT^{\ast}\leq β^{2}T^{\ast}T. \end{equation*} In this paper we establish various inequalities between the operator norm and its numerical radius of $(α,β)$-normal operators in Hilbert spaces. For this purpose, we employ some classical inequalities for vectors in inner product spaces.
We consider estimates of Hardy and Littlewood for norms of operators on sequence spaces, and we apply a factorization result of Maurey to obtain improved estimates and simplified proofs for the special case of a positive operator.
The multilinear Hardy--Littlewood inequalities provide estimates for the sum of the coefficients of multilinear forms $T:\ell_{p_{1}}^{n}\times\cdots \times\ell_{p_{m}}^{n}\rightarrow\mathbb{R}$ (or $\mathbb{C}$) when $1/p_{1}+\cdots+1/p_{m}<1.$ In this paper we investigate the critical and super-critical cases; i.e., when $1/p_{1}+\cdots+1/p_{m}\geq1.$
A note that points out the possibility to have p<1 in Sobolev type of inequalities by a use of the momomial structure of polynomials or power series. The proof is simple: Triangle angle inequality p*>1, monomial estimate from p* to exponent p<1, then the inverse triangle inequality.
In this paper, we establish a good-$\lz$ inequality with two parameters in the Schrödinger settings. As it's applications, we obtain weighted estimates for spectral multipliers and Littlewood-Paley operators and their commutators in the Schrödinger settings.
Jensen inequalities for positive linear maps of Choi and Hansen-Pedersen type are established for a large class of operator/matrix means. These results are also extensions of the Minkowski determinantal inequality. To this end we develop the study of anti-norms, a notion parallel to the symmetric norms in matrix analysis, including functionals like Schatten q-norms for a parameter q<1 and the Minkowski functional. An interpolation theorem for the Schur multiplication is given in this setting. Two sections have been added to the previous version, devoted to means of severable variables and anti…
