We introduce some symmetric homogeneous means, and then show unitarily invariant norm inequalities for them, applying the method established by Hiai and Kosaki. Our new inequalities give the tighter bounds of the logarithmic mean than the inequalities given by Hiai and Kosaki. Some properties and norm continuities in parameter for our means are also discussed.
We present several operator and norm inequalities for Hilbert space operators. In particular, we prove that if $A_{1},A_{2},...,A_{n}\in {\mathbb B}({\mathscr H})$, then \[|||A_{1}A_{2}^{*}+A_{2}A_{3}^{*}+...+A_{n}A_{1}^{*}|||\leq|||\sum_{i=1}^{n}A_{i}A_{i}^{*}|||,\] for all unitarily invariant norms. We also show that if $A_{1},A_{2},A_{3},A_{4}$ are projections in ${\mathbb B}({\mathscr H})$, then &&|||(\sum_{i=1}^{4}(-1)^{i+1}A_{i})\oplus0\oplus0\oplus0|||&\leq&|||(A_{1}+|A_{3}A_{1}|)\oplus (A_{2}+|A_{4}A_{2}|)\oplus(A_{3}+|A_{1}A_{3}|)\oplus(A_{4}+|A_{2}A_{4}|)||| for any unitarily invaria…
Lidskii's additive inequalities (both for eigenvalues and singular values) can be interpreted as an explicit description of global minimizers of functions that are built on unitarily invariant norms, with domains consisting of certain orbits of matrices (under the action of the unitary group). In this paper, we show that Lidskii's inequalities actually describe all global minimizers of such functions and that local minimizers are also global minimizers. We use these results to obtain partial results related to local minimizers of generalized frame operator distances in the context of finite fr…
In this paper, we present some upper bounds for unitarily invariant norms inequalities. Among other inequalities, we show some upper bounds for the Hilbert-Schmidt norm. In particular, we prove \begin{align*} \|f(A)Xg(B)\pm g(B)Xf(A)\|_2\leq \left\|\frac{(I+|A|)X(I+|B|)+(I+|B|)X(I+|A|)}{d_Ad_B}\right\|_2, \end{align*} where $A, B, X\in\mathbb{M}_n$ such that $A$, $B$ are Hermitian with $σ(A)\cupσ(B)\subset\mathbb{D}$ and $f, g$ are analytic on the complex unit disk $\mathbb{D}$, $g(0)=f(0)=1$, $\textrm{Re}(f)>0$ and $\textrm{Re}(g)>0$.
In this paper, motivated by perturbation theory of operators, we present some upper bounds for $|||f(A)Xg(B)+ X|||$ in terms of $|||\,|AXB|+|X|\,|||$ and $|||f(A)Xg(B)- X|||$ in terms of $|||\,|AX|+|XB|\,|||$, where $A, B$ are $G_{1}$ operators, $|||\cdot|||$ is a unitarily invariant norm and $f, g$ are certain analytic functions. Further, we find some new upper bounds for the the Schatten $2$-norm of $f(A)X\pm Xg(B)$. Several special cases are discussed as well.
We prove an inequality for unitarily invariant norms that interpolates between the Arithmetic-Geometric Mean inequality and the Cauchy-Schwarz inequality.
In this article we present some new comparisons between the Heinz and Heron operator means, which improve some recent results known from the literature. We derive some refinements of these inequalities for unitarily invariant norms with the help of the contractive maps.
In this paper, we introduce the concept of operator arithmetic-geometrically convex functions for positive linear operators and prove some Hermite-Hadamard type inequalities for these functions. As applications, we obtain trace inequalities for operators which give some refinements of previous results. Moreover, some unitarily invariant norm inequalities are established.
In this paper, we give a detailed survey on norm inequalities for inner product type integral transformers. We first consider unitarily invariant norms and operator valued functions. We then give results on norm inequalities for inner product type integral transformers in terms of Landau inequality, Gr\" uss inequality. Lastly, we explore some of the applications in quantum theory.
Let $f$ be a symmetric norm on ${\mathbb R}^n$ and let ${\mathcal B}({\mathcal H})$ be the set of all bounded linear operators on a Hilbert space ${\mathcal H}$ of dimension at least $n$. Define a norm on ${\mathcal B}({\mathcal H})$ by $\|A\|_f = f(s_1(A), \dots, s_n(A))$, where $s_k(A) = \inf\{\|A-X\|: X\in {\mathcal B}({\mathcal H}) \hbox{ has rank less than } k\}$ is the $k$th singular value of $A$. Basic properties of the norm $\|\cdot\|_f$ are obtained including some norm inequalities and characterization of the equality case. Geometric properties of the unit ball of the norm are obtaine…
In this article we study the Heinz and Hermite-Hadamard inequalities. We derive the whole series of refinements of these inequalities involving unitarily invariant norms, which improve some recent results, known from the literature. We also prove that if $A , B, X\in M_n(\mathbb{C})$ such that $A$ and $B$ are positive definite and $f$ is an operator monotone function on $(0,\infty)$. Then \begin{equation*} |||f(A)X-Xf(B)|||\leq \max\{||f'(A)||, ||f'(B)||\} |||AX-XB|||. \end{equation*} Finally we obtain a series of refinements of the Heinz operator inequalities, which were proved by Kittaneh an…
Let $\M$ be a semi-finite factor and let $\J(\M)$ be the set of operators $T$ in $\M$ such that $T=ETE$ for some finite projection $E$. In this paper we obtain a representation theorem for unitarily invariant norms on $\J(\M)$ in terms of Ky Fan norms. As an application, we prove that the class of unitarily invariant norms on $\J(\M)$ coincides with the class of symmetric gauge norms on a classical abelian algebra, which generalizes von Neumann's classical result \cite{vN} on unitarily invariant norms on $M_n(\cc)$. As another application, Ky Fan's dominance theorem \cite{Fan} is obtained for …
In this work we introduce a new measure for the dispersion of the spectral scale of a Hermitian (self-adjoint) operator acting on a separable infinite dimensional Hilbert space that we call spectral spread. Then, we obtain some submajorization inequalities involving the spectral spread of self-adjoint operators, that are related to Tao's inequalities for anti-diagonal blocks of positive operators, Kittaneh's commutator inequalities for positive operators and also related to the Arithmetic-Geometric mean inequality. In turn, these submajorization relations imply inequalities for unitarily invar…
Let $A$ be a positive definite operator on a Hilbert space $H$, and $|||.|||$ be a unitarily invariant norm on $B(H)$. We show that if $f$ is an operator monotone function on $(0,\infty)$ and $n\in \mathbb{N}$, then $|||D^n f(A)|||\leq\|f^{(n)}(A)\|$ and $\|f^{(n)}(\cdot)\|$ is a quasi-convex function on the set of all positive definite operators in $B(H)$. We establish some estimates of the right hand side of some Hermite-Hadamard type inequalities in which differentiable functions are involved, and norms of the maps induced by them on the set of self adjoint operators are convex, quasi-conve…
We give a short proof of a recent result of Drury on the positivity of a $3\times 3$ matrix of the form $(\|R_i^*R_j\|_{\rm tr})_{1 \le i, j \le 3}$ for any rectangular complex (or real) matrices $R_1, R_2, R_3$ so that the multiplication $R_i^*R_j$ is compatible for all $i, j$, where $\|\cdot\|_{\rm tr}$ denotes the trace norm. We then give a complete analysis of the problem when the trace norm is replaced by other unitarily invariant norms.
Let $A_i$ and $B_i$ be positive definite matrices for all $i=1,\cdots,m.$ It is shown that $$\left|\left|\sum_{i=1}^m(A_i^2\sharp B_i^2)^r\right|\right|_1\leq\left|\left|\left(\left(\sum_{i=1}^mA_i\right)^{\frac{pr}{_2}}\left(\sum_{i=1}^mB_i\right)^{pr}\left(\sum_{i=1}^mA_i\right)^{\frac{rp}{_2}}\right)^{\frac{1}{p}}\right|\right|_1,$$for all $p>0$ and for all $r\geq1.$ We conjecture this inequality is also true for all unitarily invariant norms. We give an affirmative answer to the case of $m=2,$ $p\geq1$, $r\geq1$ and for all unitarily invariant norms. In other words, it is shown that $$\lef…
Let $\vee^k A$ be the $k$-th symmetric tensor power of $A\in M_n(\mathbb{C})$. In \cite{IAM}, we have expressed the normalized trace of $\vee^kA$ as an integral of the $k$-th powers of the numerical values of $A$ over the unit sphere $\mathbb{S}^{n}$ of $\mathbb{C}^{n}$ with respect to the normalized Euclidean surface measure $σ$. In this paper, we first use this integral representation to construct a family of unitarily invariant norms on $ M_n(\mathbb{C})$ and then explore their relations to Schatten-norms of $\vee^k A$. Another application yields a connection between the analysis of symmetr…
A rigidity theory is developed for bar-joint frameworks in linear matrix spaces endowed with a unitarily invariant norm. Analogues of Maxwell's counting criteria are obtained and minimally rigid matrix frameworks are shown to belong to the matroidal class of (k,l)-sparse graphs for suitable k and l. A characterisation of infinitesimal rigidity is obtained for product norms and it is shown that K_6 - e (respectively, K_7) is the smallest minimally rigid graph for the class of 2 x 2 symmetric (respectively, hermitian) matrices with the trace norm.
In this paper, we present some extensions of the Young and Heinz inequalities for the Hilbert-Schmidt norm as well as any unitarily invariant norm. Furthermore, we give some inequalities dealing with matrices. More precisely, for two positive semidefinite matrices $A$ and $B$ we show that \begin{align*} \Big\|A^νXB^{1-ν}+A^{1-ν}XB^ν\Big\|_{2}^{2}\leq\Big\|AX+XB\Big\|_{2}^{2}- 2r\Big\|AX-XB\Big\|_{2}^{2}-r_{0}\left(\Big\|A^{\frac{1}{2}}XB^{\frac{1}{2}}-AX\Big\|_{2}^{2}+ \Big\|A^{\frac{1}{2}}XB^{\frac{1}{2}}-XB\Big\|_{2}^{2}\right), \end{align*} where $X$ is an arbitrary $n\times n$ matrix, $0<ν…
In this paper we introduce a new technique for proving norm inequalities in operator ideals with an unitarily invariant norm. Among the well known inequalities which can be proved with this technique are the Löwner-Heinz inequality, inequalities relating various operator means and the Corach-Porta-Recht inequality. We prove two general inequalities and from them we derive several inequalities by specialization, many of them new. We also show how some inequalities, known to be valid for matrices or bounded operators, can be extended with this technique to normed ideals in $C^*$-algebras, in par…
In this paper we set up a representation theorem for tracial gauge norms on finite von Neumann algebras satisfying the weak Dixmier property in terms of Ky Fan norms. Examples of tracial gauge norms on finite von Neumann algebras satisfying the weak Dixmier property include unitarily invariant norms on finite factors (type ${\rm II}\sb 1$ factors and $M_n(\cc)$) and symmetric gauge norms on $L^\infty[0,1]$ and $\cc^n$. As the first application, we obtain that the class of unitarily invariant norms on a type ${\rm II}\sb 1$ factor coincides with the class of symmetric gauge norms on $L^\infty[0…
The purpose of this paper is to establish the weighted norm inequalities of one-sided oscillatory integral operators by the aid of interpolation of operators with change of measures.
In this paper, we present various inequalities for generalized numerical radius of $2 \times 2$ block matrices for Schatten p-norm. Moreover, we give a refinement of the triangle inequality for the Schatten p-generalized numerical radius.
We set up some weighted norm inequalities for fractional oscillatory integral operators. As applications, the corresponding results for commutators formed by $BMO(\mathbb{R}^{n})$ functions and the operators are established.
We obtain sharp inequalities for the k-plane transform, the "j-plane to k-plane" transform, and the corresponding dual transforms, acting on $L^p$ spaces with a radial power weight. The operator norms are explicitly evaluated. Some generalizations and open problems are discussed.
Global and local weighted Gagliardo-Nirenberg inequalities with doubling measures are established. These inequalities are key ingredients for the regularity theory and existence of strong solutions for strongly coupled parabolic and elliptic systems which are degenerate or singular because of the unboundedness of dependent and independent variables.
Fractional spline wavelet systems are considered in the work. Molecular structure of elements of such systems admits estimates connecting norms of fractional integrals' images and pre--images in Besov spaces.
In this paper, more inequalities between the operator norm and its numerical radius, for the class of normal operators, are established. Some of the obtained results are based on recent reverse results for the Schwarz inequality in Hilbert spaces due to the author.
Let $L=-Δ+V$ be a Schrödinger operator, where $Δ$ is the Laplacian operator on $\rz$, while the nonnegative potential $V$ belongs to certain reverse Hölder class. In this paper, we establish some weighted norm inequalities for commutators of Littlewood-Paley functions related to Schrödinger operators.
We obtain weighted $L^p$ inequalities for pseudo-differential operators with smooth symbols and their commutators by using a class of new weight functions which include Muckenhoupt weight functions. Our results improve essentially some well-known results.
We obtain new inequalities involving Berezin norm and Berezin number of bounded linear operators defined on a reproducing kernel Hilbert space $\mathscr{H}.$ Among many inequalities obtained here, it is shown that if $A$ is a positive bounded linear operator on $\mathscr{H}$, then $\|A\|_{ber}=\textbf{ber}(A)$, where $\|A\|_{ber}$ and $\textbf{ber}(A)$ are the Berezin norm and Berezin number of $A$, respectively. In contrast to the numerical radius, this equality does not hold for selfadjoint operators, which highlights the necessity of studying Berezin number inequalities independently.
Let $L=-Δ+V$ be a Schrödinger operator, where $Δ$ is the Laplacian operator on $\rz$, while nonnegative potential $V$ belongs to the reverse Hölder class. In this paper, we establish the weighted norm inequalities for some Schrödinger type operators, which include Riesz transforms and fractional integrals and their commutators. These results generalize substantially some well-known results.
In this paper, weighted norm inequalities with $A_p$ weights are established for the multilinear singular integral operators whose kernels satisfy $L^{r'}$-Hörmander regularity condition. As applications, we recover a weighted estimate for the multilinear Fourier multiplier obtained by Fujita and Tomita, and obtain several new weighted estimates for the multilinear Fourier multiplier as well.
We give an expression for a generalized numerical radius of Hilbert space operators and then apply it to obtain upper and lower bounds for the generalized numerical radius. We also establish some generalized numerical radius inequalities involving the product of two operators. Applications of our inequalities are also provided.
Let $x=a+ib$ be a complex number, so we have the following inequality $$(1/\sqrt{2})|a+b|\leq |x|\leq |a|+|b|$$ We give an operator version of above inequality. Also we obtain some results for normal operators.
We consider estimates of Hardy and Littlewood for norms of operators on sequence spaces, and we apply a factorization result of Maurey to obtain improved estimates and simplified proofs for the special case of a positive operator.
A note that points out the possibility to have p<1 in Sobolev type of inequalities by a use of the momomial structure of polynomials or power series. The proof is simple: Triangle angle inequality p*>1, monomial estimate from p* to exponent p<1, then the inverse triangle inequality.
In this paper, we establish a good-$\lz$ inequality with two parameters in the Schrödinger settings. As it's applications, we obtain weighted estimates for spectral multipliers and Littlewood-Paley operators and their commutators in the Schrödinger settings.
Jensen inequalities for positive linear maps of Choi and Hansen-Pedersen type are established for a large class of operator/matrix means. These results are also extensions of the Minkowski determinantal inequality. To this end we develop the study of anti-norms, a notion parallel to the symmetric norms in matrix analysis, including functionals like Schatten q-norms for a parameter q<1 and the Minkowski functional. An interpolation theorem for the Schur multiplication is given in this setting. Two sections have been added to the previous version, devoted to means of severable variables and anti…
In this paper we prove weighted norm inequalities for Weyl multipliers satisfying Mauceri's condition. As applications of this we obtain some estimates for $L^p$ multipliers on the Heisenberg group and also show in the context of a theorem of Weis on operator valued Fourier multipliers that the R-boundedness of the derivative of the multiplier is not necessary for the boundedness of the multiplier transform.
Two-weight norm estimates for the double Hardy transforms and strong fractional maximal functions are established in variable exponent Lebesgue spaces. Derived conditions are simultaneously necessary and sufficient in the case when the exponent of the right-hand side space is constant.
In this paper, we study several weighted norm inequalities for the Opdam--Cherednik transform. We establish different versions of the Heisenberg--Pauli--Weyl inequality for this transform. In particular, we give an extension of this inequality using weights with different exponents and present a variation of the inequality that incorporates $L^p$-norms for the Opdam--Cherednik transform. Also, we prove a version of the Hardy--Littlewood inequality for this transform. Finally, we give other variations of the Heisenberg--Pauli--Weyl inequality such as the Nash-type and Clarkson-type inequalities…
Operator matrices have played a significant role in studying Hilbert space operators. In this paper, we discuss further properties of operator matrices and present new estimates for the operator norms and numerical radii of such operators. Moreover, operator matrices whose real and imaginary parts are positive will be discussed, and sharper bounds will be shown for such class.
We give necessary and sufficient conditions for two weight norm inequalities for Haar multipliers operators and for square functions. We also give sufficient conditions for two weight norm inequalities for the Hilbert transform.
In this paper, we develop a thorough analysis of the boundedness properties of the maximal operator for the Bochner-Riesz means related to the Fourier-Bessel expansions. For this operator, we study weighted and unweighted inequalities in the spaces L^p((0,1),x^{2ν+1}dx). Moreover, weak and restricted weak type inequalities are obtained for the critical values of p. As a consequence, we deduce the almost everywhere pointwise convergence of these means.
We characterize the dual spaces of the generalized Hardy spaces defined by replacing Lebesgue quasi-norms by Wiener amalgam ones. In these generalized Hardy spaces, we prove that some classical linear operators such as Calderón-Zygmund, convolution and Riesz potential operators are bounded.
By using Bernstein-type inequality we define analogs of spaces of entire functions of exponential type in $L_{p}(X), 1\leq p\leq \infty$, where $X$ is a symmetric space of non-compact. We give estimates of $L_{p}$-norms, $1\leq p\leq \infty$, of such functions (the Nikolskii-type inequalities) and also prove the $L_{p}$- Plancherel-Polya inequalities which imply that our functions of exponential type are uniquely determined by their inner products with certain countable sets of measures with compact supports and can be reconstructed from such sets of "measurements" in a stable way.
Relatively recently, K.M.R. Audenaert (2010), R.A. Horn and F. Zhang (2010), Z. Huang (2011), A.R. Schep (2011), A. Peperko (2012), D. Chen and Y. Zhang (2015) have proved inequalities on the spectral radius and the operator norm of Hadamard products and ordinary matrix products of finite and infinite non-negative matrices that define operators on sequence spaces. In the current paper we extend and refine several of these results and also prove some analogues for the numerical radius. Some inequalities seem to be new even in the case of $n\times n$ non-negative matrices.
In this paper, we consider a new weak norm, iterated weak norm in Lebesgue spaces with mixed norms. We study properties of the mixed weak norm and the iterated weak norm and present the relationship between the two weak norms. Even for the ordinary Lebesgue spaces, the two weak norms are not equivalent and any one of them can not control the other one. We give some convergence and completeness results for both weak norms. We study the convergence in truncated norm, which is a substitution of the convergence in measure for mixed Lebesgue spaces. And we give a characterization of the convergence…
We present some reverse Young-type inequalities for the Hilbert-Schmidt norm as well as any unitarily invariant norm. Furthermore, we give some inequalities dealing with operator means. More precisely, we show that if $A, B\in {\mathfrak B}(\mathcal{H})$ are positive operators and $r\geq 0$, $A\nabla_{-r}B+2r(A\nabla B-A\sharp B)\leq A\sharp_{-r}B$ and prove that equality holds if and only if $A=B$. We also establish several reverse Young-type inequalities involving trace, determinant and singular values. In particular, we show that if $A, B$ are positive definite matrices and $r\geq 0$, then …
