We prove $L^p$-$L^q$-estimates for the Restriction-Extension operator acting on block-radial functions with the aid of new oscillatory integral estimates and interpolation results in mixed Lorentz spaces. Similar techniques apply to the Limiting Absorption Principles for certain elliptic (pseudo-)differential operators with constant coefficients. In this way we obtain a richer existence theory for Helmholtz-type problems on $\mathbb{R}^d$ with block-radial right hand sides.
Given a compact Riemannian manifold $(M, g)$ without boundary, we estimate the Lebesgue norm of Laplace-Beltrami eigenfunctions when restricted to a wide variety of subsets $Γ$ of $M$. The sets $Γ$ that we consider are Borel measurable, Lebesgue-null but otherwise arbitrary with positive Hausdorff dimension. Our estimates are based on Frostman-type ball growth conditions for measures supported on $Γ$. For large Lebesgue exponents $p$, these estimates provide a natural generalization of $L^p$ bounds for eigenfunctions restricted to submanifolds, previously obtained in \cite{Ho68, Ho71, Sog88, B…
In the analysis of PDEs, regularity of often measured in terms of Sobolev, H{ö}lder, Besov or Lipschitz spaces, etc. However, sometimes a gain of regularity can also be expressed just in terms of Lebesgue spaces, by passing from a singular setting to a less singular one. In this article we will obtain a gain of integrability for weak solutions of the micropolar fluid equations using as general framework Morrey spaces, which is a very useful language to study regularity in PDEs. An interesting point is that the two variables of the micropolar fluid equations can be studied separately.
We consider parabolic PDEs associated with fractional type operators drifted by non-linear singular first order terms. When the drift enjoys some boundedness properties in appropriate Lebesgue and Besov spaces, we establish by exploiting a priori Besov-type estimates, the H{ö}lder continuity of the solutions. In particular, we handle the almost critical case in whole generality.
We present an elementary approach to prove restriction theorems for particular surfaces for which the Tomas-Stein theorem does not apply, which in turn provide short proofs for well-known Strichartz estimates for associated PDEs. The method consists in applying simple restriction theorems to the level sets of the surfaces studied (for instance, spheres in the case of the cone) and then integrating the inequalities over all level sets. This allows for a different proof of sharp estimates for the wave equation, and of some estimates related to the Euler equations in the rotational framework.
The Cauchy problem for the Hardy-Hénon parabolic equation is studied in the critical and subcritical regime in weighted Lebesgue spaces on the Euclidean space $\mathbb{R}^d$. Well-posedness for singular initial data and existence of non-radial forward self-similar solution of the problem are previously shown only for the Hardy and Fujita cases ($γ\le 0$) in earlier works. The weighted spaces enable us to treat the potential $|x|^γ$ as an increase or decrease of the weight, thereby we can prove well-posedness to the problem for all $γ$ with $-\min\{2,d\}<γ$ including the Hénon case ($γ>0$). As …
In this article, we study the problem of obtaining Lebesgue space inequalities for the Fourier restriction operator associated to rectangular pieces of the paraboloid and perturbations thereof. We state a conjecture for the dependence of the operator norms in these inequalities on the sidelengths of the rectangles, prove that this conjecture follows from (a slight reformulation of the) restriction conjecture for elliptic hypersurfaces, and prove that, if valid, the conjecture is essentially sharp. Such questions arise naturally in the study of restriction inequalities for degenerate hypersurfa…
We study the mean-value harmonic functions on open subsets of $\mathbb{R}^n$ equipped with weighted Lebesgue measures and norm induced metrics. Our main result is a necessary condition saying that all such functions solve a certain homogeneous system of elliptic PDEs. Moreover, a converse result is established in case of analytic weights. Assuming Sobolev regularity of weight $w \in W^{l,\infty}$ we show that strongly harmonic functions are as well in $W^{l,\infty}$ and that they are analytic, whenever the weight is analytic. The analysis is illustrated by finding all mean-value harmonic funct…
