LuFe$_4$Ge$_2$ crystallizes in the ZrFe$_4$Si$_2$-type structure, hosting chains of Fe-tetrahedra giving rise to geometric frustration and low-dimensionality. The compound orders antiferromagnetically at around 36 K accompanied by a simultaneous structural transition from a tetragonal to an orthorhombic phase. The hydrostatic pressure dependence of the magnetic and structural transitions is investigated using electrical-transport, ac magnetic-susceptibility, ac calorimetry, M$\ddot{\rm o}$ssbauer, muon-spin relaxation ($μ$SR), and x-ray diffraction measurements. External pressure suppresses the first-order transition to the antiferromagnetic phase (AFM1) around 1.8 GPa. The structural transition is largely unaffected by pressure and remains between 30 to 35 K for pressures up to 2 GPa. A second antiferromagnetic phase (AFM2) is observed at higher pressures. The transition from the paramagnetic to the AFM2 phase is of second-order nature and appears to be connected to the structural transition. The magnetic volume fraction obtained from $μ$SR and M$\ddot{\rm o}$ssbauer measurements reveal that the entire sample undergoes magnetic ordering in both magnetic phases. In addition, similar low-temperature muon-precession frequencies in AFM1 and AFM2 phases point at similar ordered moments and magnetic structures in both phases. Our results further indicate enhanced magnetic fluctuations in the pressure induced AFM2 phase. The experimental observations together with density functional theory calculations suggest that the magnetic and structural order parameters in LuFe$_4$Ge$_2$ are linked by magnetic frustration, causing the simultaneous magneto-structural transition.
The rare-earth ferroelectromagnet YMnO3 consists of weakly coupled triangular layers of S=2 spins. Below T_N ~ 70 K muon-spin relaxation data show two oscillatory relaxing signals due to magnetic order, with no relaxing signal resolvable (which would be expected for different coexisting spin distributions). The transition temperature T_N increases with applied hydrostatic pressure, even though the ordered moment decreases. These results suggest that pressure increases both the exchange coupling between the layers and the frustration within the layers.
Iron-based superconductors are well-known for their intriguing phase diagrams, which manifest a complex interplay of electronic, magnetic and structural degrees of freedom. Among the phase transitions observed are superconducting, magnetic, and several types of structural transitions, including a tetragonal-to-orthorhombic and a collapsed-tetragonal transition. In particular, the widely-observed tetragonal-to-orthorhombic transition is believed to be a result of an electronic order that is coupled to the crystalline lattice and is, thus, referred to as nematic transition. Nematicity is therefo…
The majority of the iron-based superconductors (FeSCs) exhibit a two-dimensional square lattice structure. Recent reports of pressure-induced superconductivity in the spin-ladder system, BaFe$_2$X$_3$ (X =S,Se), introduce a quasi-one-dimensional prototype and an insulating parent compound to the FeSCs. Here we report X-ray, neutron diffraction and muon spin relaxation experiments on BaFe$_2$Se$_3$ under hydrostatic pressure to investigate its magnetic and structural properties across the pressure-temperature phase diagram. A structural phase transition was identified at a pressure of 3.7(3) GP…
The effects of hydrostatic pressure on the static magnetism in Eu(Fe$_{0.925}$Co$_{0.075}$)$_{2}$As$_{2}$ are investigated by complementary electrical resistivity, ac magnetic susceptibility and single-crystal neutron diffraction measurements. A specific pressure-temperature phase diagram of Eu(Fe$_{0.925}$Co$_{0.075}$)$_{2}$As$_{2}$ is established. The structural phase transition, as well as the spin-density-wave order of Fe sublattice, is suppressed gradually with increasing pressure and disappears completely above 2.0 GPa. In contrast, the magnetic order of Eu sublattice persists over the w…
We carried out a combined P-substitution and hydrostatic pressure study on CeFeAs_1-xP_xO single crystals in order to investigate the peculiar relationship of the local moment magnetism of Ce, the ordering of itinerant Fe moments, and their connection with the occurrence of superconductivity. Our results evidence a close relationship between the weakening of Fe magnetism and the change from antiferromagnetic to ferromagnetic ordering of Ce moments at p*=1.95 GPa in CeFeAs_0.78P_0.22O. The absence of superconductivity in CeFeAs_0.78P_0.22O and the presence of a narrow and strongly pressure sens…
In the metallic pyrochlore Nd$_2$Mo$_2$O$_7$, the conducting Molybdenum sublattice adopts canted, yet nearly collinear ferromagnetic order with nonzero scalar spin chirality. The chemical potential may be controlled by replacing Nd$^{3+}$ with Ca$^{2+}$, while introducing only minimal additional disorder to the conducting states. Here, we demonstrate the stability of the canted ferromagnetic state, including the tilting angle of Molybdenum spins, in (Nd$_{1-x}$Ca$_{x}$)$_2$Mo$_2$O$_7$ (NCMO) with $x\le 0.15$ using magnetic susceptibility measurements. Mo-Mo and Mo-Nd magnetic couplings both ch…
We present a comprehensive experimental study of magnetization and magnetocaloric effect (MCE) in double perovskite (DP) materials $R_2$NiMnO$_6$ with $R =$ Pr, Nd, Sm, Gd, Tb, and Dy. While a paramagnetic to ferromagnetic transition, with T$_{\rm C}$ in the range $\sim 100 - 200~$K, is a common feature that can be attributed to the ordering of Mn$^{4+}$ and Ni$^{2+}$ magnetic moments, qualitatively distinct behavior depending on the choice of $R$ is observed at low temperatures. These low-temperature anomalies in magnetization are also manifest in the change in magnetic entropy, $-ΔS_{M}$, wh…
Magnetic and magneto-functional behavior of a Fe-doped MnNiGe alloy with nominal composition Mn$_{0.85}$Fe$_{0.15}$NiGe have been investigated in ambient as well as in high pressure condition. The alloy undergoes first order martensitic phase transition (MPT) around 200 K and also shows large conventional magnetocaloric effect (MCE) ($ΔS$ $\sim$ -21 J/kg-K for magnetic field ($H$) changing from 0-50 kOe) around the transition in ambient condition. Application of external hydrostatic pressure ($P$) results a shift in MPT towards the lower temperature and a clear decrease in the saturation momen…
The Nd1-xCexCoIn5 alloys evolve from local moment magnetism (x = 0) to heavy fermion superconductivity (x =1). Magnetic order is observed over a broad range of x. For a substantial range of x (0.83 <= x <= 0.95) in the temperature - composition phase diagram we find that superconductivity may coexist with spin - density wave magnetic order at the Fermi surface. We show that a delicate balance betwen superconducting and magnetic instabilities can be reversibly tuned by both the Ce/Nd ratio and magnetic field, offering a new and unique model electronic system.
We report the effect of hydrostatic pressure on the electronic state of the antiferromagnet UIrGe, which is isostructural and isoelectronic with the ferromagnetic superconductors UCoGe and URhGe. The Neel temperature decreases with increasing pressure. We constructed a p-T phase diagram and estimated the critical pressure pc, where the antiferromagnetism vanishes, as 12 GPa. The antiferromagnetic/paramagnetic transition appears to be first order.
UCoGa and URhGa, two isostructural compounds show opposite signs of the initial response of Curie temperature to applied hydrostatic premenssure. To determine the physical origin of this contradiction the magnetization data measured with respect to temperature, magnetic field and hydrostatic pressure were analyzed in the framework of the Takahashi's spin-fluctuation theory. The parameters T0 and TA characterizing the distribution widths of the spin-fluctuation spectrum in the energy and wave vector space, respectively, and TC/T0, the degree of the 5f-electron localization have been determined.…
We report the evolution of structural and magnetic properties in La2O3(Fe1-xMnx)2Se2. Heat capacity and bulk magnetization indicate an increased ferromagnetic component of the long-range magnetic order and possible increased degree of frustration. Atomic disorder on Fe(Mn) sites suppresses the temperature of the long-range order whereas intermediate alloys show a rich magnetic phase diagram.
Neutron-scattering and specific-heat measurements of the heavy-fermion superconductor URu2Si2 under hydrostatic pressure and with Rh-doping [U(Ru{0.98}Rh{0.02})2Si2] show the existence of two magnetic phase transitions. At the second-order phase transition Tm ≈ 17.5 K, a tiny ordered moment is established, while at TM < Tm, a first-order phase transition (under pressure or doping) gives rise to a large moment. The results can be understood in terms of a hidden OP Psi coupled to the ordered moment m, where m and Psi have the same symmetry.
We synthesize and study single crystals of the layered honeycomb lattice Mott insulators Na2RuO3 and Li2RuO3 with magnetic Ru4+(4d4) ions. The newly found Na2RuO3 features a nearly ideal honeycomb lattice and orders antiferromagnetically at 30 K. Single-crystals of Li2RuO3 adopt a honeycomb lattice with either C2/m or more distorted P21/m below 300 K, depending on detailed synthesis conditions. We find that Li2RuO3 in both structures hosts a well-defined magnetic state, in contrast to the singlet ground state found in polycrystalline Li2RuO3. A phase diagram generated based on our results unco…
Optical spectroscopy has been combined with computational and theoretical techniques to show how the spin dynamics in the model multiferroic BiFeO3 responds to the application of hydrostatic pressure and its corresponding series of structural phase transitions from R3c to the Pnma phases. As pressure increases, multiple spin excitations associated with non-collinear cycloidal magnetism collapse into two excitations, which show jump discontinuities at some of the ensuing crystal phase transitions. Effective Hamiltonian approach provides information on the electrical polarization and structural …
The properties of the novel heavy fermion superconductor Ce$_3$PtIn$_{11}$ are investigated by thermodynamic and transport measurements at ambient and under hydrostatic pressure. At ambient pressure the compound exhibits two successive magnetic transitions at $T_1$ $\approx$ 2.2 K and $T_{\rm N}$ $\approx$ 2 K into antiferromagnetically ordered states and enters into a heavy fermion superconducting phase below $T_{\rm c}$ $\approx$ 0.32 K. The coexistence of long-range magnetic order and superconductivity is discussed in the context of the existence of the two crystallographically inequivalent…
The strain tuned magnetism of YTiO$_3$ film grown on the LaAlO$_3$ ($110$) substrate is studied by the method of the first principles, and compared with that of the ($001$)-oriented one. The obtained magnetism is totally different, which is ferromagnetic for the film on the ($110$) substrate but A-type antiferromagnetic on the ($001$) one. This orientation-dependent magnetism is attributed to the subtle orbital ordering of YTiO$_3$ film. The $d_{xz}$/$d_{yz}$-type orbital ordering is predominant for the ($001$) one, but for the ($110$) case, the $d_{xy}$ orbital is mostly occupied plus a few c…
We carried out specific-heat and ac-susceptibility experiments under hydrostatic pressure to investigate the interplay of spin-density-wave antiferromagnetism (A) and superconductivity (S) in single-crystalline AS-type CeCu2Si2. We find evidence for a line of magnetic-field- and pressure-tuned quantum critical points in the normal state in the zero-temperature magnetic field-pressure plane. Our analysis suggests an extension of this line into the superconducting state and corroborates the close connection of the underlying mechanisms leading to the formation of the antiferromagnetic and the su…
Structural phase transitions in $f$-electron materials have attracted sustained attention both for practical and basic science reasons, including that they offer an environment to directly investigate relationships between structure and the $f$-state. Here we present results for UCr$_2$Si$_2$, where structural (tetragonal $\rightarrow$ monoclinic) and antiferromagnetic phase transitions are seen at $T_{\rm{S}}$ $=$ 205 K and $T_{\rm{N}}$ $=$ 25 K, respectively. We also provide evidence for an additional second order phase transition at $T_{\rm{X}}$ = 280 K. We show that $T_{\rm{X}}$, $T_{\rm{S…
We present magnetization and muon-spin spectroscopy measurements of Néel skyrmion-host GaV$_4$S$_8$ under the application of hydrostatic pressures up to $P=2.29$ GPa. Our results suggest that the magnetic phase diagram is altered with pressure via a reduction in the crossover temperature from the cycloidal (C) to ferromagnetic-like state with increasing $P$, such that, by 2.29 GPa, the C state appears to persist down to the lowest measured temperatures. With the aid of micromagnetic simulations, we propose that the driving mechanism behind this change is a reduction in the magnetic anisotropy …
We present magnetization measurements on polycrystalline $β$-Li$_2$IrO$_3$ under hydrostatic pressures up to 3~GPa and construct the temperature-pressure phase diagram of this material. Our data confirm that magnetic order breaks down in a first-order phase transition at $p_{\rm{c}}$ $\approx$ 1.4~GPa and additionally reveal a step-like feature -- magnetic signature of structural dimerization -- that appears at $p_{\rm{c}}$ and shifts to higher temperatures upon further compression. Following the structural study by L. S. I. Veiga et al. [Phys. Rev. B 100, 064104 (2019)], we suggest that a par…
The antiferromagnet and semimetal EuCd$_2$As$_2$ has recently attracted a lot of attention due to a wealth of topological phases arising from the interplay of topology and magnetism. In particular, the presence of a single pair of Weyl points is predicted for a ferromagnetic configuration of Eu spins along the $c$-axis in EuCd$_2$As$_2$. In the search for such phases, we investigate here the effects of hydrostatic pressure in EuCd$_2$As$_2$. For that, we present specific heat, transport and $μ$SR measurements under hydrostatic pressure up to $\sim\,2.5\,$GPa, combined with {\it ab initio} dens…
To efficiently manipulate magnetism is a key physical issue for modern condensed matter physics, which is also crucial for magnetic functional applications. Most previous relevant studies rely on the tuning of spin texture, while the spin orientation is often negligible. As an exception, spin-orbit coupled $J_{\rm eff}$ states of $4d$/$5d$ electrons provide an ideal platform for emergent quantum effects. However, many expectations have not been realized due to the complexities of real materials. Thus the pursuit for more ideal $J_{\rm eff}$ states remains ongoing. Here a near-ideal $J_{\rm eff…
In the iron-pnictide material CeFeAsO not only the Fe moments, but also the local 4f moments of the Ce order antiferromagnetically at low temperatures. We elucidate on the peculiar role of the Ce on the emergence of superconductivity. While application of pressure suppresses the iron SDW ordering temperature monotonously up to 4 GPa, the Ce-4f magnetism is stabilized, until both types of magnetic orders disappear abruptly and a narrow SC dome develops. With further increasing pressure characteristics of a Kondo-lattice system become more and more apparent in the electrical resistivity. This su…
Layered magnetic transition-metal thiophosphate NiPS3 has unique two-dimensional (2D) magnetic properties and electronic behavior. The electronic band structure and corresponding magnetic state are expected to sensitive to the interlayer interaction, which can be tuned by external pressure. Here, we report an insulator-metal transition accompanied with magnetism collapse during the 2D-3D crossover in structure induced by hydrostatic pressure. A two-stage phase transition from monoclinic (C2=m) to trigonal (P-31m) lattice is identified by ab initio simulation and confirmed by high-pressure XRD …
The emergence of magnetism in otherwise nonmagnetic compounds and its underlying mechanisms have become the subject of intense research. Here we demonstrate that the nonmagnetic oxygen vacancies are responsible for an unconventional magnetic state common for titanate interfaces and surfaces. Using an effective multiorbital modelling, we find that the presence of localized vacancies leads to an interplay of ferromagnetic order in the itinerant t2g band and complex magnetic oscillations in the orbitally-reconstructed eg-band, which can be tuned by gate fields at oxide interfaces. The magnetic ph…
We have studied the spin structure of circular four-electron quantum rings using tunable confinement potentials. The calculations were done using the exact diagonalization method. Our results indicate that ringlike systems can have oscillatory flips between ferromagnetic and antiferromagnetic behaviour as a function of the magnetic field. Furthermore, at constant external magnetic fields there were seen similar oscillatory changes between ferromagnetism and antiferromagnetism when the system parameters were changed. Ackording to our results, the magnetism of quantum rings could be tuned by sys…
We report local probe ($μ$SR) measurements on the recently discovered tetragonal FeS superconductor which has been predicted to be electronically very similar to superconducting FeSe. Most remarkably, we find that low moment ($10^{-2}-10^{-3}μ_\mathrm{B})$ disordered magnetism with a transition temperature of $T_\mathrm{N}\approx 20$ K microscopically coexists with bulk superconductivity below $T_\mathrm{c}=4.3(1)$ K. From transverse field $μ$SR we obtain an in-plane penetration depth $λ_\mathrm{ab}(0)=223(2)$ nm for FeS. The temperature dependence of the corresponding superfluid density $λ_\m…
We have investigated the temperature dependence of the magnetic susceptibility $χ(T)$ of rare-earth cobaltites RCoO$_3$ (R= La, Pr, Nd, Sm, Eu) in the temperature range $4.2-300$ K and also the influence of hydrostatic pressure up to 2 kbar on their susceptibility at fixed temperatures $T=78 $ and 300 K. The specific dependence $χ(T)$ observed in LaCoO$_3$ and the anomalously large pressure effect (d ln $χ$/d$P\sim -100$ Mbar$^{-1}$ for $T = 78$ K) are analyzed in the framework of a two-level model with energy levels difference $Δ$. The ground state of the system is assumed to be nonmagnetic w…

The magnetism of the second antiferromagnetic phase (AF2) arising in the iron-based LaFeAsO$_{1-x}$H$_{x}$ superconductor for $x\gtrsim0.4$ was investigated by muon spin rotation measurements under hydrostatic pressure up to 2.6 GPa. The Néel temperature ($T_{\rm N}$) obtained for a sample with $x=0.51$ exhibits considerably greater sensitivity to pressure than that in the pristine antiferromagnetic phase (AF1, $x\lesssim0.06$). Moreover, while the AF1 phase is always accompanied by the structural transition (from tetragonal to orthorhombic) at a temperature ($T_{\rm s}$) which is slightly hig…
Edge magnetism in zigzag transition metal dichalcogenide nanoribbons is studied using a three-band tight-binding model with local electron-electron interactions. Both mean field theory and the unbiased, numerically exact determinant quantum Monte Carlo method are applied. Depending on the edge filling, mean field theory predicts different phases: gapped spin dimer and antiferromagnetic phases appear for two specific fillings, with a tendency towards metallic edge-ferromagnetism away from those fillings. Determinant quantum Monte Carlo simulations confirm the stability of the antiferromagnetic …
At low temperatures, weakly coupled spin chains develop a magnetic order that reflects the character of gapless spin fluctuations along the chains. Using nuclear magnetic resonance, we identify and characterize two ordered states in the gapless region of the antiferromagnetic, Ising-like spin-chain system BaCo2V2O8, both arising from the incommensurate fluctuations along the chains. They correspond to the columnar and ferromagnetic ordered states of the frustrated J1-J2 spin model on a square lattice, where the spins are encoded in original spin chains. As a result of field-dependent incommens…

A two-sublattice spin-fermion model of ferrimagnetic spinel, with spin-$1/2$ itinerant electrons at the sublattice $A$ site and spin-$s$ localized electrons at the sublattice $B$ site is considered. The exchange between itinerant and localized electrons is antiferromanetic. As a result the external magnetic field, applied along the magnetization of the localized electrons, compensates the Zeeman splitting due to the spin-fermion exchange and magnon-fermion interaction induces spin anti-parallel p-wave superconductivity which coexists with magnetism. We have obtained five characteristic values …
Antiferromagnetic (AF) transitions of birefringent Dirac fermions created by a Y-shaped Kekulé distortion in graphene are investigated by the mean-field theory and the determinant quantum Monte Carlo simulations. We show that the quantum critical point can be continuously tuned by the bond-modulation strength, and the universality of the quantum criticality remains in the Gross-Neveu-Heisenberg class. The critical interaction scales with the geometric average of the two velocities of the birefringent Dirac cones and decreases monotonically between the uniform and the completely depleted limits…
Motivated by the recent wealth of exotic magnetic phases emerging in two-dimensional frustrated lattices, we investigate the origin of possible magnetism in the monolayer family of triangular lattice materials $MX_2$ ($M$={V, Mn, Ni}, $X$={Cl, Br, I}). We first show that consideration of general properties such as filling and hybridization enables to formulate trends for the most relevant magnetic interaction parameters. In particular, we observe that the effects of spin-orbit coupling (SOC) can be effectively tuned through the ligand elements as the considered 3$d$ transition metal ions do no…
Kagome magnets are expected to feature emergent properties due to the interplays among geometry, magnetism, electronic correlation, and band topology. The magnetism and topological electronic states can be tuned via the rare earth engineering in RV6Sn6 kagome metals, where R is a rare earth element. Herein, we present the synthesis and characterization of SmV6Sn6, a metal with two-dimensional kagome nets of vanadium and frustrated triangular Sm lattice. Partial of the Sm atoms are shifted from the normal R positions by c/2 along the c axis. Magnetic measurements reveal obvious anisotropy, wher…
We analyse the Ising Kondo lattice model on a pyrochlore structure in order to study the anomalous Hall effect due to non-coplanar magnetism. We focus on the frustration-induced spatial inhomogeneity of different magnetic low-temperature regimes, between which one can efficiently tune using an external magnetic field. We incorporate non-magnetic scattering on a phenomenological level so that we can distinguish between the effects of short-range correlations and short-range coherence. We obtain a Hall conductivity (σ_H) as function of field strength and direction which compares well to the expe…
Single crystal neutron and high-energy x-ray diffraction have identified the phase lines corresponding to transitions between the ambient-pressure tetragonal (T), the antiferromagnetic orthorhombic (O) and the non-magnetic collapsed tetragonal (cT) phases of CaFe2As2. We find no evidence of additional structures for pressures up to 2.5 GPa (at 300 K). Both the T-cT and O-cT transitions exhibit significant hysteresis effects and we demonstrate that coexistence of the O and cT phases can occur if a non-hydrostatic component of pressure is present. Measurements of the magnetic diffraction peaks s…
The tunable magnetism at graphene edges with lengths of up to 48 unit cells is analyzed by an exact diagonalization technique. For this we use a generalized interacting one-dimensional model which can be tuned continuously from a limit describing graphene zigzag edge states with a ferromagnetic phase, to a limit equivalent to a Hubbard chain, which does not allow ferromagnetism. This analysis sheds light onto the question why the edge states have a ferromagnetic ground state, while a usual one-dimensional metal does not. Essentially we find that there are two important features of edge states:…

We report the synthesis and characterization of a rare-earth dichalcogenide EuTe$_2$. An antiferromagnetic transition was found at T$_M$ = 11 K. The antiferromagnetic order can be tuned by an applied magnetic field to access a first-order spin flop transition and a spin flip transition. These transitions are associated with a giant negative magnetoresistance with a value of nearly 100\%. Heat capacity measurements reveal strong electronic correlations and a reduced magnetic entropy. Furthermore, density functional theory calculations demonstrate that the electrons near the Fermi surface mainly…
The effects of pressure on a quantum spin liquid are investigated in an organic Mott insulator $κ$-(ET)$_2$Ag$_2$(CN)$_3$ with a spin-1/2 triangular lattice. The application of negative chemical pressure to $κ$-(ET)$_2$Cu$_2$(CN)$_3$, which is a well-known sister Mott insulator, allows for extensive tuning of antiferromagnetic exchange coupling, with $J/k_{\rm B} = 175 - 310$ K, under hydrostatic pressure. Based on $^{13}$C nuclear magnetic resonance measurements under pressure, we uncover universal scaling in the static and dynamic spin susceptibilities down to low temperatures $\sim 0.1k_{\r…
We report the observation of spin-polarized superconductivity in Bernal bilayer graphene when doped to a saddle-point van Hove singularity generated by large applied perpendicular electric field. We observe a cascade of electrostatic gate-tuned transitions between electronic phases distinguished by their polarization within the isospin space defined by the combination of the spin and momentum-space valley degrees of freedom. While all of these phases are metallic at zero magnetic field, we observe a transition to a superconducting state at finite $B_\parallel\approx 150$mT applied parallel to …
The nature of magnetic order and transport properties near surfaces is a topic of great current interest. Here we model metal-insulator interfaces with a multi-layer system governed by a tight-binding Hamiltonian in which the interaction is non-zero on one set of adjacent planes and zero on another. As the interface hybridization is tuned, magnetic and metallic properties undergo an evolution that reflects the competition between anti-ferromagnetism and (Kondo) singlet formation in a scenario similar to that occurring in heavy-fermion materials. For a few-layer system at intermediate hybridiza…
We study the global phase diagram of magnetic orders and lattice structure in the Fe-pnictide materials at zero temperature within one unified theory, tuned by both doping and pressure. On the low doping and high pressure side of the phase diagram, there is one single transition, which is described by a $z=2$ mean field theory with very weak run-away flows; on the high doping and low pressure side the transition is expected to split to two transitions, with one O(3) spin density wave transition followed by a z = 3 quantum Ising transition at larger doping. The fluctuation of the strain field f…
We synthesized tetragonal alpha-FeSe by melting a powder mixture of iron and selenium at high pressure. Subsequent annealing at normal pressure results in removing traces of hexagonal beta- FeSe, formation of a rather sharp transition to superconducting state at Tc ~ 7 K, and the appearance of a magnetic transition near Tm = 120 K. Resistivity and ac-susceptibility were measured on the annealed sample at hydrostatic pressure up to 4.5 GPa. A magnetic transition visible in ac-susceptibility shifts down under pressure and the resistive anomaly typical for a spin density wave (SDW) antiferromagne…
We study the behaviour of electrons interacting with a classical magnetic background via a strong Hund coupling. The magnetic background results from a Hamiltonian which favours at low temperature the emergence of a phase with non-zero scalar chirality. The strong Hund's coupling combined with the total chirality of the classical spins induces in the electrons an effective flux which results in the realisation of a band structure with non zero Chern number. First, we consider as a magnetic background a classical spin system with spontaneous net chirality. We study the Density of States (DoS) a…
