Let $X$ be a smooth projective variety over the complex numbers and $S(d)$ the scheme parametrizing $d$-dimensional Lie subalgebras of $H^0(X,\mathcal{T} X)$. This article is dedicated to the study of the geometry of the moduli space $\text{Inv}$ of involutive distributions on $X$ around the points $\mathcal{F}\in \text{Inv}$ which are induced by Lie group actions. For every $\mathfrak{g} \in S(d)$ one can consider the corresponding element $\mathcal{F}(\mathfrak{g})\in \text{Inv}$, whose generic leaf coincides with an orbit of the action of $\exp(\mathfrak{g})$ on $X$. We show that under mild hypotheses, after taking a stratification $\coprod_i S(d)_i\to S(d)$ this assignment yields an isomorphism $ϕ:\coprod_i S(d)_i\to \text{Inv}$ locally around $\mathfrak{g}$ and $\mathcal{F}(\mathfrak{g})$. This gives a common explanation for many results appearing independently in the literature. We also construct new stable families of foliations which are induced by Lie group actions.
We look at natural foliations on the Painlevé VI moduli space of regular connections of rank 2 on $\pp ^1 -{t_1,t_2,t_3,t_4}$. These foliations are fibrations, and are interpreted in terms of the nonabelian Hodge filtration, giving a proof of the nonabelian Hodge foliation conjecture in this case. Two basic kinds of fibrations arise: from apparent singularities, and from quasiparabolic bundles. We show that these are transverse. Okamoto's additional symmetry, which may be seen as Katz's middle convolution, exchanges the quasiparabolic and apparent-singularity foliations.
Masur's divergence states that the horizontal foliation of translation surfaces is uniquely ergodic if the geodesic flow is recurrent on the moduli space. This established a relationship between geometrical properties of foliations and the dynamics on the moduli space. In this paper, we extend this theorem to complex torus and Kummer surfaces. We define and calculate horizontal foliations and the corresponding geodesic flow in the moduli space of Kähler metrics and prove that the horizontal foliation is uniquely ergodic if the geodesic flow is recurrent. We also find the a necessary algebraic …
In this article we study polynomial logarithmic $q$-forms on a projective space and characterize those that define singular foliations of codimension $q$. Our main result is the algebraic proof of their infinitesimal stability when $q=2$ with some extra degree assumptions. We determine new irreducible components of the moduli space of codimension two singular projective foliations of any degree, and we show that they are generically reduced in their natural scheme structure. Our method is based on an explicit description of the Zariski tangent space of the corresponding moduli space at a given…
For arbitrary reductive groups $G$ defined over a finite field, we decompose Newton strata in the special fiber of moduli spaces of global $G$-shtukas into a product of Rapoport-Zink spaces and Igusa varieties. This allows us to compare the $\ell$-adic cohomology of these spaces together with the various actions on them.
Consider all moduli points corresponding with polarized abelian varieties in characteristic p such that the associated quasi-polarized p-divisible group is geometrically isomorphic with a given one. This defines a subset C of the moduli space. We show that C is closed in the corresponding open Newton polygon stratum. In this way the stratum is the disjoint union of such "central leaves". Under local-local isogenies we consider the orbit of one point: we obtain a second type of leaves. Every stratum, up to a finite map, is the product of one of its central leaves and one of its isogeny leaves. …
Let $\mathcal F(r, d)$ denote the moduli space of algebraic foliations of codimension one and degree $d$ in complex proyective space of dimension $r$. We show that $\mathcal F(r, d)$ may be represented as a certain linear section of a variety of complexes. From this fact we obtain information on the irreducible components of $\mathcal F(r, d)$.
In this work, we construct some irreducible components of the space of two-dimensional holomorphic foliations on $\mathbb{P}^n$ associated to some algebraic representations of the affine Lie algebra $\mathfrak{aff}(\mathbb{C})$. We give a description of the generalized Kupka components, obtaining a classification of them in terms of the degree of the foliations, in both cases $n=3$ and $n=4$.
We prove the Cone Theorem for algebraically integrable foliations. As a consequence, we show that termination of flips implies the b-nefness of the moduli part of a log canonical pair with respect to a contraction, generalising the case of lc trivial fibrations.
The aim of this paper is to study codimension one foliations on rational homogeneous spaces, with a focus on the moduli space of foliations of low degree on Grassmannians and cominuscule spaces. Using equivariant techniques, we show that codimension one degree zero foliations on (ordinary, orthogonal, symplectic) Grassmannians of lines, some spinor varieties, some Lagrangian Grassmannians, the Cayley plane (an $E_6$-variety) and the Freudenthal variety (an $E_7$-variety) are identified with restrictions of foliations on the ambient projective space. We also provide some evidence that such resu…
We show that certain structures and constructions of the Whitham theory, an essential part of the perturbation theory of soliton equations, can be instrumental in understanding the geometry of the moduli spaces of Riemann surfaces with marked points. We use the ideas of the Whitham theory to define local coordinates and construct foliations on the moduli spaces. We use these constructions to give a new proof of the Diaz' bound on the dimension of complete subvarieties of the moduli spaces. Geometrically, we study the properties of meromorphic differentials with real periods, and their degenera…
In this paper, we study moduli spaces of finite-dimensional Lie algebras with flat center, proving that the forgetful map from Lie p-algebras to Lie algebras is an affine fibration, and we point out a new case of existence of a p-mapping. Then we illustrate these results for the special case of Lie algebras of rank 3, whose moduli space we build and study over Z. We extend the classical equivalence of categories between locally free Lie p-algebras of finite rank with finite locally free group schemes of height 1, showing that the centers of these objects correspond to each other. We finish by …
We construct an action of a Lie algebra on the homology groups of moduli spaces of stable sheaves on K3 surfaces under some technical conditions. This is a generalization of Nakajima's construction of sl_2-action on the homology groups. In particular, for an A,D,E-configulation of (-2)-curves, we shall give a collection of moduli spaces such that the associated Lie algebra acts on their homology groups.
A transitive Lie algebra g of rational vector fields on a projective manifold which do not preserve any foliation determines a rational map to an algebraic homogenous space G/H which maps g to lie(G).
We show a few basic results about moduli spaces of semistable modules over Lie algebroids. The first result shows that such moduli spaces exist for relative projective morphisms of noetherian schemes, removing some earlier constraints. The second result proves general separatedness Langton type theorem for such moduli spaces. More precisely, we prove S-completness of some moduli stacks of semistable modules. In some special cases this result identifies closed points of the moduli space of Gieseker semistable sheaves on a projective scheme and of the Donaldson--Uhlenbeck compactification of the…
We show that there is an equivalence of categories between Lie-Rinehart algebras over a commutative algebra $\mathcal O $ and homotopy equivalence classes of negatively graded Lie $\infty $-algebroids over their resolutions (=acyclic Lie $\infty$-algebroids). This extends to a purely algebraic setting the construction of the universal $Q$-manifold of a locally real analytic singular foliation of Lavau-C.L.-Strobl. In particular, it makes sense for the universal Lie $\infty$-algebroid of every singular foliation, without any additional assumption, and for Androulidakis-Zambon singular Lie algeb…
We consider the Lie algebra consisting of all derivations on the free associative algebra, generated by the first homology group of a closed oriented surface, which kill the symplectic class. We find the first non-trivial abelianization of this Lie algebra and discuss its relation to unstable cohomology classes of the moduli space of curves via a theorem of Kontsevich.
We prove that the degree zero Hochschild-type cohomology of the homology operad of Francis Brown's dihedral moduli spaces is equal to the Grothendieck-Teichmueller Lie algebra plus two classes. This significantly elucidates the (in part still conjectural) relation between the Grothendieck-Teichmueller Lie algebra and (motivic) multiple zeta values.
We attempt to develop a general algebro-geometric study of the moduli stack of commutative, 1-parameter formal Lie groups. We emphasize the pro-algebraic structure of this stack: it is the inverse limit, over varying n, of moduli stacks of n-buds, and these latter stacks are algebraic. Our main results pertain to aspects of the height stratification relative to fixed prime p on the stacks of buds and formal Lie groups. We conclude with a largely expository account of some foundational material on limits in bicategories.
In this paper we study the moduli stack of complexes of vector bundles (with chain isomorphisms) over a smooth projective variety $X$ via derived algebraic geometry. We prove that if $X$ is a Calabi-Yau variety of dimension $d$ then this moduli stack has a $(1-d)$-shifted Poisson structure. In the case $d=1$, we construct a natural foliation of the moduli stack by $0$-shifted symplectic substacks. We show that our construction recovers various known Poisson structures associated to complex elliptic curves, including the Poisson structure on Hilbert scheme of points on elliptic quantum projecti…
We suggest to compactify the universal covering of the moduli space of complex structures by non-commutative spaces. The latter are described by certain categories of sheaves with connections which are flat along foliations. In the case of abelian varieties this approach gives quantum tori as a non-commutative boundary of the moduli space. Relations to mirror symmetry, modular forms and deformation theory are discussed.
