A transitive Lie algebra g of rational vector fields on a projective manifold which do not preserve any foliation determines a rational map to an algebraic homogenous space G/H which maps g to lie(G).
We prove that any ample class on a primitive symplectic variety that is locally trivial deformation of O'Grady's singular 6 dimensional example is proportional to the first Chern class of a uniruled divisor. This result answers a question of Lehn, Mongardi and Pacienza, extending their result for primitive symplectic varieties of this deformation type.
We study the deformation theory of rational curves on primitive symplectic varieties and show that if the rational curves cover a divisor, then, as in the smooth case, they deform along their Hodge locus in the universal locally trivial deformation. As applications, we extend Markman's deformation invariance of prime exceptional divisors along their Hodge locus to this singular framework and provide existence results for uniruled ample divisors on primitive symplectic varieties which are locally trivial deformations of any moduli space of semistable objects on a projective $K3$ or fibers of th…
We present the first explicit examples of a rational threefold and a Calabi-Yau threefold, admitting biregular automorphisms of positive entropy not preserving any dominant rational maps to lower positive dimensional varieties. The most crucial part is the rationality of the quotient threefold of a 3-dimensional torus of product type.
We show that, in any dimension greater than one, there are an abelian variety, a smooth rational variety and a Calabi-Yau manifold, with primitive birational automorphisms of first dynamical degree $>1$. We also show that there are smooth complex projective Calabi-Yau manifolds and smooth rational manifolds, of any even dimension, with primitive biregular automorphisms of positive topological entropy.
We use Gromov-Witten theory to study rational curves in holomorphic symplectic varieties. We present a numerical criterion for the existence of uniruled divisors swept out by rational curves in the primitive curve class of a very general holomorphic symplectic variety of $K3^{[n]}$ type. We also classify all rational curves in the primitive curve class of the Fano variety of lines in a very general cubic $4$-fold, and prove the irreducibility of the corresponding moduli space. Our proofs rely on Gromov-Witten calculations by the first author, and in the Fano case on a geometric construction of…
In this note we improve the theorem on Galois rational covers $X\dashrightarrow V$ for primitive Fano varieties $V$, recently proven by the author, in the two directions: we extend to the maximum the class of Galois groups $G$, for which the proof works, and relax the conditions that must be satisfied by the variety $V$ -- the divisorial canonicity alone is sufficient.
For any non-simply laced Lie group $G$ and elliptic curve $Σ$, we show that the moduli space of flat $G$ bundles over $Σ$ can be identified with the moduli space of rational surfaces with $G$-configurations which contain $Σ$ as an anti-canonical curve. We also construct $Lie(G)$-bundles over these surfaces. The corresponding results for simply laced groups were obtained by the authors in another paper. Thus we have established a natural identification for these two kinds of moduli spaces for any Lie group $G$.
We prove that the group of automorphisms of the Lie algebra $\Der_K (Q_n)$ of derivations of the field of rational functions $Q_n=K(x_1,..., x_n)$ over a field of characteristic zero is canonically isomorphic to the group of automorphisms of the $K$-algebra $Q_n$.
We give an explicit construction of Lie algebras of type $E_7$ out of a Lie algebra of type $D_6$ with some restrictions. Up to odd degree extensions, every Lie algebra of type $E_7$ arises this way. For Lie algebras that admit a $56$-dimensional representation we provide a more symmetric construction based on an observation of Manivel; the input is seven quaternion algebras subject to some relations.
We study minimal rational curves on a complex manifold that are tangent to a distribution. In this setting, the variety of minimal rational tangents (VMRT) has to be isotropic with respect to the Levi tensor of the distribution. Our main result is a converse of this: any smooth projective variety isotropic with respect to a vector-valued anti-symmetric form can be realized as VMRT of minimal rational curves tangent to a distribution on a complex manifold. The complex manifold is constructed as a partial equivariant compactification of a metabelian group, which is a result of independent intere…
Let $K$ be any field and $G$ be a finite group. Let $G$ act on the rational function field $K(x_g:g\in G)$ by $K$-automorphisms defined by $g\cdot x_h=x_{gh}$ for any $g,h\in G$. Noether's problem asks whether the fixed field $K(G)=K(x_g:g\in G)^G$ is rational (=purely transcendental) over $K$. We will prove that if $G$ is a non-abelian $p$-group of order $p^n$ ($n\ge 3$) containing a cyclic subgroup of index $p^2$ and $K$ is any field containing a primitive $p^{n-2}$-th root of unity, then $K(G)$ is rational over $K$. As a corollary, if $G$ is a non-abelian $p$-group of order $p^3$ and $K$ is…
Since Quillen proved his famous equivalences of homotopy categories in 1969, much work has been done towards classifying the rational homotopy types of simply connected topological places. The majority of this work has focused on rational homotopy types with the same cohomology algebra. The models in this case were differential graded algebras and acted similarly to differential forms. These models were then used together with some deformation theory to describe a moduli space for all rational homotopy types with a given cohomology algebra. Indeed, this theory has been very well developed. How…
Let G be a split simple group of type G_2 over a field k, and let g be its Lie algebra. Answering a question of Colliot-Thélène, Kunyavskiĭ, Popov, and Reichstein, we show that the function field k(g) is generated by algebraically independent elements over the field of adjoint invariants k(g)^G.
We construct two algebraic versions of homotopy theory of rational disconnected topological spaces, one based on differential graded commutative associative algebras and the other one on complete differential graded Lie algebras. As an application of the developed technology we obtain results on the structure of Maurer-Cartan spaces of complete differential graded Lie algebras.
