A technique for obtaining an approximate breather solution of the Klein-Gordon equation is presented. A breather solution of the equation describing the propagation of nonlinear waves in a graphene-based superlattice is investigated.
We prove the existence of time-periodic solutions and spatially localised solutions (breathers), in general nonlinear Klein-Gordon infinite lattices. The existence problem is converted into a fixed point problem for an operator on some appropriate function space which is solved by means of Schauder's Fixed Point Theorem.
Klein-Gordon equations describe the dynamics of waves/particles in sub-atomic scales. For nonlinear Klein-Gordon equations, their breather solutions are usually known as time periodic solutions with the vanishing spatial-boundary condition. The existence of breather solution is known for the Sine-Gordon equations, while the Sine-Gordon equations are also known as the soliton equation. The breather solutions is a certain kind of time periodic solutions that are not only play an essential role in the bridging path to the chaotic dynamics, but provide multi-dimensional closed loops inside phase s…
In this paper we consider a discrete Klein-Gordon (dKG) equation on $\ZZ^d$ in the limit of the discrete nonlinear Schrodinger (dNLS) equation, for which small-amplitude breathers have precise scaling with respect to the small coupling strength $\eps$. By using the classical Lyapunov-Schmidt method, we show existence and linear stability of the KG breather from existence and linear stability of the corresponding dNLS soliton. Nonlinear stability, for an exponentially long time scale of the order $\mathcal{O}(\exp(\eps^{-1}))$, is also obtained via the normal form technique, together with highe…
The quantum sine-Gordon model is the simplest massive interacting integrable quantum field theory whose two-particle scattering matrix is generally non-diagonal. As such, it is a model that has been extensively studied, especially in the context of the bootstrap programme. In this paper we compute the form factors of a special local field known as the branch point twist field, whose correlation functions are building blocks for measures of entanglement. We consider the attractive regime where the theory posesses a particle spectrum consisting of a soliton, an antisoliton (of opposite $U(1)$ ch…
In this report, the various 1D single soliton and multi-soliton solutions of the Sine-Gordon equation are explored. First the topological kink solitons and their properties for the Sine-Gordon, as well as the $ϕ^{4}$ model are investigated. This includes energy and momentum conservation laws for both models, as well as static kinks and antikinks. The Bogomol'nyi equation and the importance of Lorentz invariance are also discussed. Then in the second half, the focus is on Sine-Gordon multi-kink solutions, which are found by a separation of variables method rather than using inverse scattering o…
We give estimates for the changes of the eigenvalues of the Klein Gordon operator under the change of the potential. In some relevant situations we improve the existing estimates. We test our results on some exactly solvable models (Coulomb potential, Klein-Gordon oscillator).
We introduce $q$-versions of the Klein-Gordon equation in the three-dimensional $q$-deformed Euclidean space. We determine plane wave solutions to our $q$-deformed Klein-Gordon equations. We show that these plane wave solutions form a complete orthogonal system. We discuss the propagators of our $q$-deformed Klein-Gordon equations. We derive continuity equations for the charge density, the energy density, and the momentum density of a $q$-deformed spin-zero particle.
We show decay of the local energy of solutions of the charged Klein-Gordon equation in the exterior De Sitter-Reissner-Nordström spacetime by means of a resonance expansion of the local propagator.
The scalar Klein-Gordon equation describes wave motion in a waveguide with a cut-off. For example, the displacement of an elastic cord anchored to a solid base by elastic elements can be described by the scalar Klein-Gordon equation. We analyse this equation using the concept of analytical continuation of dispersion diagram. Particularly, it is shown that the dispersion diagram is topologically equivalent to a tube analytically embedded in two-dimensional complex space. The corresponding Fourier integral is studied on this tube using the Cauchy's theorem. The basic properties of the scalar Kle…
We introduce the Dunkl--Klein--Gordon (DKG) equation in 2D by changing the standard partial derivatives by the Dunkl derivatives in the standard Klein--Gordon (KG) equation. We show that the generalization with Dunkl derivative of the $z$-component of the angular momentum is what allows the separation of variables of the DKG equation. Then, we compute the energy spectrum and eigenfunctions of the DKG equations for the 2D Coulomb potential and the Klein--Gordon oscillator analytically and from an ${\rm su}(1,1)$ algebraic point of view. Finally, we show that if the parameters of the Dunkl deriv…
We show asymptotic completeness for the charged Klein-Gordon equation in the exterior De Sitter-Reissner-Nordström spacetime when the product of the charge of the black hole with the charge of Klein-Gordon field is small enough. We then interpret scattering as asymptotic transports along principal null geodesics in a Kaluza-Klein extension of the original spacetime.
We are interested in the Klein-Gordon-Zakharov equations in $\mathbb{R}^{1+3}$, and we aim to show that the energy for the global solution to the equations is uniformly bounded, and we do not require the compactness assumption on the initial data. To achieve these goals, the key is to apply Alinhac's ghost weight energy estimates adapted to the Klein-Gordon equations.
We describe a Lorentzian manifold that is globally hyperbolic and geodesically complete, but such that the (minimally coupled) Klein-Gordon operator with the standard domain is not essentially self-adjoint.
Consider the Klein-Gordon-Zakharov equations in $\mathbb{R}^{1+2}$, and we are interested in establishing the small global solution to the equations and in investigating the pointwise asymptotic behavior of the solution. The Klein-Gordon-Zakharov equations can be regarded as a coupled semilinear wave and Klein-Gordon system with quadratic nonlinearities which do not satisfy the null conditions, and the fact that wave components and Klein-Gordon components do not decay sufficiently fast makes it harder to conduct the analysis. In order to conquer the difficulties, we will rely on the hyperboloi…
We solve the Klein-Gordon equation in the presence of a spatially one-dimensional cusp potential. The bound state solutions are derived and the antiparticle bound state is discussed.
We report on the well-posedness of the Feynman problem for the Klein-Gordon equation on asymptotically Minkowski spacetimes. The main result is the invertibility of the Klein-Gordon operator with Feynman conditions at infinite times. Furthermore, the inverse is shown to coincide with the Duistermaat-Hörmander Feynman parametrix modulo smoothing terms.
We consider the stability of the toroidal AdS-Schwarzshild black holes as solutions of the Einstein--Klein-Gordon system, with Dirichlet or Neumann boundary conditions for the scalar field. Restricting to perturbations that respect the toroidal symmetry we show both orbital and asymptotic stability for the full nonlinear problem, for a range of choices of the Klein-Gordon mass. The solutions we construct with Neumann boundary conditions have a Hawking mass which diverges towards infinity, reflecting the infinite energy of the Klein-Gordon field for perturbations satisfying these boundary condi…
We prove that finite energy solutions to the nonlinear Schroedinger equation and nonlinear Klein--Gordon equation which have the compact time spectrum have to be one-frequency solitary waves. The argument is based on the generalization of the Titchmarsh convolution theorem to partial convolutions.
