We construct an open enumerative theory for the Landau-Ginzburg (LG) model $(\mathbb{C}^2, μ_r\times μ_s, x^r+y^s)$. The invariants are defined as integrals of multisections of a Witten bundle with descendents over a moduli space that is a real orbifold with corners. In turn, a generating function for these open invariants yields the mirror LG model and a versal deformation of it with flat coordinates. After establishing an open topological recursion result, we prove an LG/LG open mirror symmetry theorem in dimension two with all descendents. The open invariants we define are not unique but depend on boundary conditions that, when altered, exhibit wall-crossing phenomena for the invariants. We describe an LG wall-crossing group classifying the wall-crossing transformations that can occur.
We verify the Landau-Ginzburg Mirror Symmetry Conjecture for Arnol'd's list of unimodal and bimodal quasi-homogeneous singularities with G the maximal diagonal symmetry group, and include a discussion of eight axioms which facilitate the computation of FJRW-rings.
In this article, we study the Berglund--Hübsch transpose construction W^T for invertible quasihomogeneous potential W. We introduce the dual group G^T and establish the state space isomorphism between the Fan-Jarvis-Ruan-Witten A-model of W/G and the orbifold Milnor ring B-model of W^T/G^T. Furthermore, we prove a mirror symmetry theorem at the level of Frobenius algebra structure for G^max. Then, we interpret Arnol'd strange duality of exceptional singularities W as mirror symmetry between W/J and its strange dual W^SD.
The Landau-Ginzburg A-model, given by FJRW theory, defines a cohomological field theory, but in most examples is very difficult to compute, especially when the symmetry group is not maximal. We give some methods for finding the A-model structure. In many cases our methods completely determine the previously unknown A-model Frobenius manifold structure. In the case where these Frobenius manifolds are semisimple, this can be shown to determine the structure of the higher genus potential as well. We compute the Frobenius manifold structure for 27 of the previously unknown unimodal and bimodal sin…
According to the ADE Witten conjecture, which is proved by Fan, Jarvis and Ruan, the total descendant potential of the FJRW invariants of an ADE singularity is a tau function of the corresponding mirror ADE Drinfeld-Sokolov hierarchy. In the present paper, we show that there is a finite group $Γ$ acting on a certain ADE singularity which induces an action on the corresponding FJRW-theory, and the $Γ$-invariant sector also satisfies the axioms of a cohomological field theory except the gluing loop axiom. On the other hand, we show that there is also a $Γ$-action on the mirror Drinfeld-Sokolov h…
In this paper we describe some of the constructions of FJRW theory. We also briefly describe its relation to Saito-Givental theory via Landau-Ginzburg mirror symmetry and its relation to Gromov-Witten theory via the Landau-Ginzburg/Calabi-Yau correspondence. We conclude with a discussion of some of the recent results in the field.
For any non-degenerate, quasi-homogeneous hypersurface singularity W and an admissible group of diagonal symmetries G, Fan, Jarvis, and Ruan have constructed a cohomological field theory which is a candidate for the mathematical structure behind the Landau-Ginzburg A-model. When using the orbifold Milnor ring of a singularity W as a B-model, and the Frobenius algebra H_{W,G} constructed by Fan, Jarvis, and Ruan, as an A-model, the following conjecture is obtained: For a quasi-homogeneous singularity W and a group G of symmetries of W, there is a dual singularity W^T such that the orbifold A-mo…
We provide a mirror symmetry theorem in a range of cases where the state-of-the-art techniques relying on concavity or convexity do not apply. More specifically, we work on a family of FJRW potentials named after Fan, Jarvis, Ruan, and Witten's quantum singularity theory and viewed as the counterpart of a non-convex Gromov--Witten potential via the physical LG/CY correspondence. The main result provides an explicit formula for Polishchuk and Vaintrob's virtual cycle in genus zero. In the non-concave case of the so-called chain invertible polynomials, it yields a compatibility theorem with the …
FJRW theory is a formulation of physical Landau-Ginzburg models with a rich algebraic structure, rooted in enumerative geometry. As a consequence of a major physical conjecture, called the Landau-Ginzburg/Calabi-Yau correspondence, several birational morphisms of Calabi-Yau orbifolds should correspond to isomorphisms in FJRW theory. In this paper it is shown that not only does this claim prove to be the case, but is a special case of a wider FJRW isomorphism theorem, which in turn allows for a proof of mirror symmetry for a new class of cases in the Landau-Ginzburg setting. We also obtain seve…
We prove a version of the Landau-Ginzburg/Calabi-Yau correspondence for the mirror quintic. In particular we calculate the genus-zero FJRW theory for the pair (W, G) where W is the Fermat quintic polynomial and G = SL(W). We identify it with the Gromov-Witten theory of the mirror quintic three-fold via an explicit analytic continuation and symplectic transformation. In the process we prove a mirror theorem for the corresponding Landau-Ginzburg model (W,G).
We prove the Landau-Ginzburg Mirror Symmetry Conjecture at the level of (orbifolded) Frobenius algebras for a large class of invertible singularities, including arbitrary sums of loops and Fermats with arbitrary symmetry groups. Specifically, we show that for a quasi-homogeneous polynomial W and an admissible group G within the class, the Frobenius algebra arising in the FJRW theory of [W/G] is isomorphic (as a Frobenius algebra) to the orbifolded Milnor ring of [W^T/G^T], associated to the dual polynomial W^T and dual group G^T.
We prove the Landau-Ginzburg mirror symmetry conjecture between invertible quasi-homogeneous polynomial singularities at all genera. That is, we show that the FJRW theory (LG A-model) of such a polynomial is equivalent to the Saito-Givental theory (LG B-model) of the mirror polynomial.
We give a new proof of the computation of Hodge integrals we have previously obtained for the quantum singularity (FJRW) theory of chain polynomials. It uses the classical localization formula of Atiyah--Bott and we phrase our proof in a general framework that is suitable for future studies of gauged linear sigma models (GLSM). As a by-product, we obtain the first equivariant version of mirror symmetry without concavity, generalizing the work of Chiodo--Iritani--Ruan on the Landau--Ginzburg side.
We show that the Gromov-Witten theory of Calabi-Yau hypersurfaces matches, in genus zero and after an analytic continuation, the quantum singularity theory (FJRW theory) recently introduced by Fan, Jarvis and Ruan following ideas of Witten. Moreover, on both sides, we highlight two remarkable integral local systems arising from the common formalism of Gamma-integral structures applied to the derived category of the hypersurface {W=0} and to the category of graded matrix factorizations of W. In this setup, we prove that the analytic continuation matches Orlov equivalence between the two above c…
We formulate a conjecture predicting unexpected relationships among the coefficients of the elliptic expansions of Klein's modular j-function around j = 0 and j = 1728. Our conjecture is inspired by recent developments in mirror symmetry, in particular by work of Tu computing categorical enumerative invariants of matrix factorization categories and by work of Li-Shen-Zhou computing FJRW invariants of elliptic curves.
In this paper, we prove the mirror symmetry conjecture between the Saito-Givental theory of exceptional unimodular singularities on Landau-Ginzburg B-side and the Fan-Jarvis-Ruan-Witten theory of their mirror partners on Landau-Ginzburg A-side. On the B-side, we compute the genus-zero generating function from a perturbative formula of primitive forms introduced by the first three authors recently. This computation matches the orbifold-Grothendieck-Riemann-Roch and WDVV calculations in FJRW theory on the A-side. The coincidence of the full data at all genera is established by reconstruction tec…
Let $W\in \mathbb{C}[x_1,\cdots,x_N]$ be an invertible polynomial with an isolated singularity at origin, and let $G\subset {\sf SL}_N\cap (\mathbb{C}^*)^N$ be a finite diagonal and special linear symmetry group of $W$. In this paper, we use the category ${\sf MF}_G(W)$ of $G$-equivariant matrix factorizations and its associated VSHS to construct a $G$-equivariant version of Saito's theory of primitive forms. We prove there exists a canonical categorical primitive form of ${\sf MF}_G(W)$ characterized by $G_W^{\sf max}$-equivariance. Conjecturally, this $G$-equivariant Saito theory is equivale…
Motivated by Strominger-Yau-Zaslow's mirror symmetry proposal and Kontsevich's homological mirror symmetry conjecture, we study mirror phenomena (in A-model) of certain results from Donaldson-Thomas theory for Calabi-Yau 4-folds.
We prove some integrality properties of the open-closed mirror maps, inverse open-closed mirror maps and mirror curves of some local Calabi-Yau geometries.
Borcea-Voisin threefolds provided some of the first examples of mirror pairs in the Hodge-theoretic sense, but their mirror symmetry at the quantum level have not previously been shown. We prove a Givental-style quantum mirror theorem for certain Borcea-Voisin threefolds: by means of certain birational models, we show that their Gromov-Witten J-functions are related by a mirror map to solutions of the multi-parameter Picard-Fuchs equations coming from the variation of Hodge structures of their mirror partners.
We study the space of stability conditions on $K3$ surfaces from the perspective of mirror symmetry. It is done in the so called attractor backgrounds (moduli) which can be far from the conventional large complex limits and are selected by the attractor mechanism for certain black holes. We find certain highly non-generic behaviors of stability walls (a key notion in the study of wall crossings) in the space of stability conditions. They correspond via mirror symmetry to some non-generic behaviors of special Lagrangians in an attractor background. The main results can be understood as a mirror…
For three-partition triple Hodge integrals related to the topological vertex, we derive Eynard-Orantin type recursion relations from the cut-and-join equation. This establishes a version of local mirror symmetry for the local $C^3$ geometry with three D-branes, as proposed by Marino and Bouchard-Klemm-Marino-Pasquetti.

We prove the Bouchard-Mariño Conjecture for the framed one-legged topological vertex by deriving the Eynard-Orantin type recursion relations from the cut-and-join equation satisfied by the relevant triple Hodge integrals. This establishes a version of local mirror symmetry for the local $C^3$ geometry with one $D$-brane.
We show that (quantum) D-modules of Givental type on affine flag varieties are transformed to D-modules of Beilinson-Drinfeld type on $n$-reduced Sato Grassmannians via affine Miura transformation.
These expository notes are based on lectures by Yongbin Ruan during a special semester on the B-model at the University of Michigan in Winter 2014. They outline and compare the mirror symmetry constructions of Batyrev-Borisov, Hori-Vafa, and Berglund-Hubsch-Krawitz.
This paper gives a new way of constructing Landau-Ginzburg mirrors using deformation theory of Lagrangian immersions motivated by the works of Seidel, Strominger-Yau-Zaslow and Fukaya-Oh-Ohta-Ono. Moreover we construct a canonical functor from the Fukaya category to the mirror category of matrix factorizations. This functor derives homological mirror symmetry under some explicit assumptions. As an application, the construction is applied to spheres with three orbifold points to produce their quantum-corrected mirrors and derive homological mirror symmetry. Furthermore we discover an enumerativ…
We relate a coherent sheaf supported on a holomorphic curve with its mirror Langrangian submanifold in local mirror symmetry through a tropical curve by interpreting their central charges using the combinatorial information of the tropical curve, which proves the Gamma conjecture for local mirror symmetry in this specific case. Furthermore, we put this description in the Gross-Siebert model of local mirror symmetry and confirm that the parameters in the Gross-Siebert model are the canonical coordinates in mirror symmetry.
We prove a conjecture on the relation between dimer models, coamoebas and vanishing cycles for the mirrors of two-dimensional toric Fano stacks of Picard number one. As a corollary, we obtain a torus-equivariant version of homological mirror symmetry for such stacks.
We prove the homological mirror conjecture for toric del Pezzo surfaces. In this case, the mirror object is a regular function on an algebraic torus. We show that the derived Fukaya category of this mirror coincides with the derived category of coherent sheaves on the original manifold.
Gross and Siebert identified a class of singular Lagrangian torus fibrations which arise when smoothing toroidal degenerations, and which come in pairs that are related by mirror symmetry. We identify an immersed Lagrangian in each of these local models which supports a moduli space of objects that is isomorphic to the mirror space, and prove a homological mirror statement along the way.
One of the attractions of homological mirror symmetry is that it not only implies the previous predictions of mirror symmetry (e.g., curve counts on the quintic), but it should in some sense be `less of a coincidence' than they are and therefore easier to prove. In this survey we explain how Seidel's approach to mirror symmetry via versality at the large volume/large complex structure limit makes this idea precise.
This work establishes a subtle connection between mirror symmetry for Calabi-Yau threefolds and that of curves of higher genus. The linking structure is what we call a perverse curve. We show how to obtain such from Calabi-Yau threefolds in the Batyrev mirror construction and prove that their Hodge diamonds are related by the mirror duality.
We prove Kontsevich's homological mirror symmetry conjecture for certain mirror pairs arising from Batyrev-Borisov's `dual reflexive Gorenstein cones' construction. In particular we prove HMS for all Greene-Plesser mirror pairs (i.e., Calabi-Yau hypersurfaces in quotients of weighted projective spaces). We also prove it for certain mirror Calabi-Yau complete intersections arising from Borisov's construction via dual nef partitions, and also for certain Calabi-Yau complete intersections which do not have a Calabi-Yau mirror, but instead are mirror to a Calabi-Yau subcategory of the derived cate…
We introduce the notion of a tropical coamoeba which gives a combinatorial description of the Fukaya category of the mirror of a toric Fano stack. We show that the polyhedral decomposition of a real n-torus into (n + 1) permutohedra gives a tropical coamoeba for the mirror of the projective space, and prove a torus-equivariant version of homological mirror symmetry for the projective space. As a corollary, we obtain homological mirror symmetry for toric orbifolds of the projective space.
In the case of toric varieties, we continue the pursuit of Kontsevich's fundamental insight, Homological Mirror Symmetry, by unifying it with the Mori program. We give a refined conjectural version of Homological Mirror Symmetry relating semi-orthogonal decompositions of the $B$-model on toric varieties to semi-orthogonal decompositions on the $A$-model on the mirror Landau-Ginzburg models. As evidence, we prove a new case of Homological Mirror Symmetry for a toric surface whose anticanonical bundle is not nef, namely a certain blow-up of $¶^2$ at three infinitesimally near points.
Ideas of Fukaya and Kontsevich-Soibelman suggest that one can use Strominger-Yau-Zaslow's geometric approach to mirror symmetry as a torus duality to construct the mirror of a symplectic manifold equipped with a Lagrangian torus fibration as a moduli space of simple objects of the Fukaya category supported on the fibres. In the absence of singular fibres, the construction of the mirror is explained in this framework, and, given a Lagrangian submanifold, a (twisted) coherent sheaf on the mirror is constructed.
We prove homological mirror symmetry for Lefschetz fibrations obtained as disconnected sums of polynomials of types A or D. The proof is based on the behavior of the Fukaya category under the addition of a polynomial of type D.
The Cox construction presents a toric variety as a quotient of affine space by a torus. The category of coherent sheaves on the corresponding stack thus has an evident description as invariants in a quotient of the category of modules over a polynomial ring. Here we give the mirror to this description, and in particular, a clean new proof of mirror symmetry for smooth toric stacks.
We construct and apply Strominger-Yau-Zaslow mirror transformations to understand the geometry of the mirror symmetry between toric Fano manifolds and Landau-Ginzburg models.
This paper explores homological mirror symmetry for weighted blowups of toric varieties. It will be shown that both the A-model and B-model categories have natural semiorthogonal decompositions. An explicit equivalence of the right orthogonal categories will be shown for the case of toric surfaces.
We prove that the punctured generalized conifolds and punctured orbifolded conifolds are mirror symmetric under the SYZ program with quantum corrections. This mathematically confirms the gauge-theoretic prediction by Aganagic-Karch-Lüst-Miemiec, and also provides a supportive evidence to Morrison's conjecture that geometric transitions are reversed under mirror symmetry.
When combined with mirror symmetry, the A-model approach to quantization leads to a fairly simple and tractable problem. The most interesting part of the problem then becomes finding the mirror of the coisotropic brane. We illustrate how it can be addressed in a number of interesting examples related to representation theory and gauge theory, in which mirror geometry is naturally associated with the Langlands dual group. Hyperholomorphic sheaves and (B,B,B) branes play an important role in the B-model approach to quantization.
Given an algebraic hypersurface $H=f^{-1}(0)$ in $(\mathbb{C}^*)^n$, homological mirror symmetry relates the wrapped Fukaya category of $H$ to the derived category of singularities of the mirror Landau-Ginzburg model. We propose an enriched version of this picture which also features the wrapped Fukaya category of the complement $(\mathbb{C}^*)^n\setminus H$ and the Fukaya-Seidel category of the Landau-Ginzburg model $((\mathbb{C}^*)^n,f)$. We illustrate our speculations on simple examples, and sketch a proof of homological mirror symmetry for higher-dimensional pairs of pants.
In this paper, we introduce the interested reader to homological mirror symmetry. After recalling a little background knowledge, we tackle the simplest cases of homological mirror symmetry: curves of genus zero and one. We close by outlining the current state of the field and mentioning what homo- logical mirror symmetry has to say about other aspects of mirror symmetry.
We prove homological mirror symmetry for the quintic Calabi-Yau 3-fold. The proof follows that for the quartic surface by Seidel (arXiv:math/0310414) closely, and uses a result of Sheridan (arXiv:1012.3238). In contrast to Sheridan's approach (arXiv:1111.0632), our proof gives the compatibility of homological mirror symmetry for the projective space and its Calabi-Yau hypersurface.
We give a brief survey of some of the geometry of mirror symmetry, written in 2004 for the "Encyclopaedia of Mathematical Physics". Probably a little bit out of date now in a few places, but hey.
We introduce a conjecture on homological mirror symmetry relating the symplectic topology of the complement of a smooth ample divisor in a K3 surface to algebraic geometry of type III degenerations, and prove it when the degree of the divisor is either 2 or 4.
