We prove some integrality properties of the open-closed mirror maps, inverse open-closed mirror maps and mirror curves of some local Calabi-Yau geometries.
Landau has characterized the integrality of certain ratios of factorials. Delaygue has characterized the integrality of the Taylor coefficients of certain mirror maps constructed from series involving those ratios. Using the $A$-hypergeometric point of view, we express those characterizations in terms of the nonexistence of interior points in multiples of the associated lattice polytope.
We show that the Taylor coefficients of the series ${\bf q}(z)=z\exp({\bf G}(z)/{\bf F}(z))$ are integers, where ${\bf F}(z)$ and ${\bf G}(z)+\log(z) {\bf F}(z)$ are specific solutions of certain hypergeometric differential equations with maximal unipotent monodromy at $z=0$. We also address the question of finding the largest integer $u$ such that the Taylor coefficients of $(z ^{-1}{\bf q}(z))^{1/u}$ are still integers. As consequences, we are able to prove numerous integrality results for the Taylor coefficients of mirror maps of Calabi-Yau complete intersections in weighted projective spac…
We generalise Dwork's theory of $p$-adic formal congruences from the univariate to a multi-variate setting. We apply our results to prove integrality assertions on the Taylor coefficients of (multi-variable) mirror maps. More precisely, with $\mathbf z=(z_1,z_2,...,z_d)$, we show that the Taylor coefficients of the multi-variable series $q(\mathbf z)=z_i\exp(G(\mathbf z)/F(\mathbf z))$ are integers, where $F(\mathbf z)$ and $G(\mathbf z)+\log(z_i) F(\mathbf z)$, $i=1,2,...,d$, are specific solutions of certain GKZ systems. This result implies the integrality of the Taylor coefficients of numer…
We continue our study begun in "On the integrality of the Taylor coefficients of mirror maps" (arXiv:0907.2577) of the fine integrality properties of the Taylor coefficients of the series ${\bf q}(z)=z\exp({\bf G}(z)/{\bf F}(z))$, where ${\bf F}(z)$ and ${\bf G}(z)+\log(z) {\bf F}(z)$ are specific solutions of certain hypergeometric differential equations with maximal unipotent monodromy at $z=0$. More precisely, we address the question of finding the largest integer $v$ such that the Taylor coefficients of $(z ^{-1}{\bf q}(z))^{1/v}$ are still integers. In particular, we determine the Dwork-K…
We give a necessary and sufficient condition for the integrality of the Taylor coefficients of mirror maps at the origin. By mirror maps, we mean formal power series z.exp(G(z)/F(z)), where F(z) and G(z)+log(z)F(z) are particular solutions of certain generalized hypergeometric differential equations. This criterion is based on the analytical properties of Landau's function (which is classically associated to the sequences of factorial ratios) and it generalizes results proved by Krattenthaler-Rivoal in "On the integrality of the Taylor coefficients of mirror maps" (to appear in Duke Math. J.).…
We prove the integrality of the Taylor coefficients of roots of mirror maps at the origin. By mirror maps, we mean formal power series z.exp(G(z)/F(z)), where F(z) and G(z)+log(z)F(z) are particular solutions of certain generalized hypergeometric differential equations. This enables us to prove a conjecture stated by Zhou in "Integrality properties of variations of Mahler measures" [arXiv:1006.2428v1 math.AG]. The proof of these results is an adaptation of the techniques used in our article "Critère pour l'intégralité des coefficients de Taylor des applications miroir", [J. Reine Angew. Math. …
For the resolved conifold with one outer D-brane in arbitrary framing, we present some results for the open string partition functions obtained by some operator manipulations. We prove some conjectures by Aganagic-Vafa and Aganagic-Klemm-Vafa that relates such invariants to the mirror curve of the resolved conifold. This establishes local mirror symmetry for the resolved confolds for holomorphic disc invariants. We also verify an integrality conjecture of such invariants by Ooguri-Vafa in this case and present closed formulas for some Ooguri-Vafa type invariants in genus 0 and arbitrary genera…
Borcea-Voisin threefolds provided some of the first examples of mirror pairs in the Hodge-theoretic sense, but their mirror symmetry at the quantum level have not previously been shown. We prove a Givental-style quantum mirror theorem for certain Borcea-Voisin threefolds: by means of certain birational models, we show that their Gromov-Witten J-functions are related by a mirror map to solutions of the multi-parameter Picard-Fuchs equations coming from the variation of Hodge structures of their mirror partners.
We study the space of stability conditions on $K3$ surfaces from the perspective of mirror symmetry. It is done in the so called attractor backgrounds (moduli) which can be far from the conventional large complex limits and are selected by the attractor mechanism for certain black holes. We find certain highly non-generic behaviors of stability walls (a key notion in the study of wall crossings) in the space of stability conditions. They correspond via mirror symmetry to some non-generic behaviors of special Lagrangians in an attractor background. The main results can be understood as a mirror…
For three-partition triple Hodge integrals related to the topological vertex, we derive Eynard-Orantin type recursion relations from the cut-and-join equation. This establishes a version of local mirror symmetry for the local $C^3$ geometry with three D-branes, as proposed by Marino and Bouchard-Klemm-Marino-Pasquetti.

We prove the Bouchard-Mariño Conjecture for the framed one-legged topological vertex by deriving the Eynard-Orantin type recursion relations from the cut-and-join equation satisfied by the relevant triple Hodge integrals. This establishes a version of local mirror symmetry for the local $C^3$ geometry with one $D$-brane.
We verify the Landau-Ginzburg Mirror Symmetry Conjecture for Arnol'd's list of unimodal and bimodal quasi-homogeneous singularities with G the maximal diagonal symmetry group, and include a discussion of eight axioms which facilitate the computation of FJRW-rings.
We show that (quantum) D-modules of Givental type on affine flag varieties are transformed to D-modules of Beilinson-Drinfeld type on $n$-reduced Sato Grassmannians via affine Miura transformation.
Aided by mirror symmetry, we determine the number of holomorphic disks ending on the real Lagrangian in the quintic threefold. The tension of the domainwall between the two vacua on the brane, which is the generating function for the open Gromov-Witten invariants, satisfies a certain extension of the Picard-Fuchs differential equation governing periods of the mirror quintic. We verify consistency of the monodromies under analytic continuation of the superpotential over the entire moduli space. We reproduce the first few instanton numbers by a localization computation directly in the A-model, a…
We propose localization techniques for computing Gromov-Witten invariants of maps from Riemann surfaces with boundaries into a Calabi-Yau, with the boundaries mapped to a Lagrangian submanifold. The computations can be expressed in terms of Gromov-Witten invariants of one-pointed maps. In genus zero, an equivariant version of the mirror theorem allows us to write down a hypergeometric series, which together with a mirror map allows one to compute the invariants to all orders, similar to the closed string model or the physics approach via mirror symmetry. In the noncompact example where the Cal…
These expository notes are based on lectures by Yongbin Ruan during a special semester on the B-model at the University of Michigan in Winter 2014. They outline and compare the mirror symmetry constructions of Batyrev-Borisov, Hori-Vafa, and Berglund-Hubsch-Krawitz.
We discuss local mirror symmetry for higher-genus curves. Specifically, we consider the topological string partition function of higher-genus curves contained in a Fano surface within a Calabi-Yau. Our main example is the local P^2 case. The Kodaira-Spencer theory of gravity, tailored to this local geometry, can be solved to compute this partition function. Then, using the results of Gopakumar and Vafa and the local mirror map, the partition function can be rewritten in terms of expansion coefficients, which are found to be integers. We verify, through localization calculations in the A-model,…
Motivated by Strominger-Yau-Zaslow's mirror symmetry proposal and Kontsevich's homological mirror symmetry conjecture, we study mirror phenomena (in A-model) of certain results from Donaldson-Thomas theory for Calabi-Yau 4-folds.
When combined with mirror symmetry, the A-model approach to quantization leads to a fairly simple and tractable problem. The most interesting part of the problem then becomes finding the mirror of the coisotropic brane. We illustrate how it can be addressed in a number of interesting examples related to representation theory and gauge theory, in which mirror geometry is naturally associated with the Langlands dual group. Hyperholomorphic sheaves and (B,B,B) branes play an important role in the B-model approach to quantization.
We study Mirror Symmetry of log Calabi-Yau surfaces. On one hand, we consider the number of ``affine lines'' of each degree in the complement of a smooth cubic in the projective plane. On the other hand, we consider coefficients of a certain expansion of a function obtained from the integrals of dxdy/xy over 2-chains whose boundaries lie on B_ϕwhere {B_ϕ} is a family of smooth cubics. Then, for small degrees, they coincide. We discuss the relation between this phenomenon and local mirror symmetry for projective plane in a Calabi-Yau 3-fold by Chiang-Klemm-Yau-Zaslow.
We prove that the mirror symmetry of Berglund-Hübsch-Chiodo-Ruan, applied to K3 surfaces with a non-symplectic involution, coincides with the mirror symmetry described by Dolgachev and Voisin.
For certain K3 surfaces, there are two constructions of mirror symmetry that are very different. The first, known as BHK mirror symmetry, comes from the Landau-Ginzburg model for the K3 surface; the other, known as LPK3 mirror symmetry, is based on a lattice polarization of the K3 surface in the sense of Dolgachev's definition. There is a large class of K3 surfaces for which both versions of mirror symmetry apply. In this class we consider the K3 surfaces admitting a certain purely nonsymplectic automorphism of order 4, 8, or 12, and we complete the proof that these two formulations of mirror …
We discuss the relation between transposition mirror symmetry of Berlund and Hübsch for bimodal singularities and polar duality of Batyrev for associated toric K3 hypersurfaces. We also show that homological mirror symmetry for singularities implies the geometric construction of Coxeter-Dynkin diagrams of bimodal singularities by Ebeling and Ploog.
We show that the dual of the Cayley cone, associated to a Minkowski sum decomposition of a reflexive polytope, contains a reflexive polytope admitting a nef-partition. This nef-partition corresponds to a Calabi-Yau complete intersection in a Gorenstein Fano toric variety degenerating to an ample Calabi-Yau hypersurface in another Fano toric variety. Using the Batyrev-Borisov mirror symmetry construction, we found the mirror contraction of a Calabi-Yau complete intersection to the mirror of the ample Calabi-Yau hypersurface.
Generalizing the notions of reflexive polytopes and nef-partitions of Batyrev and Borisov, we propose a mirror symmetry construction for Calabi-Yau complete intersections in Fano toric varieties.
In this paper we consider the class of K3 surfaces defined as hypersurfaces in weighted projective space, and admitting a non-symplectic automorphism of non-prime order, excluding the orders 4, 8, and 12. We show that on these surfaces the Berglund-Hübsch-Krawitz mirror construction and mirror symmetry for lattice polarized K3 surfaces constructed by Dolgachev agree; that is, both versions of mirror symmetry define the same mirror K3 surface.
This is a survey article on mirror symmetry and Fourier-Mukai partners of Calabi-Yau threefolds with Picard number one based on recent works by the authors [HoTa1,2,3,4]. For completeness, mirror symmetry and Fourier-Mukai partners of K3 surfaces are also discussed.
The Remodeling Conjecture proposed by Bouchard-Klemm-Mariño-Pasquetti (BKMP) relates the A-model open and closed topological string amplitudes (open and closed Gromov-Witten invariants) of a symplectic toric Calabi-Yau 3-fold to Eynard-Orantin invariants of its mirror curve. The Remodeling Conjecture can be viewed as a version of all genus open-closed mirror symmetry. The SYZ conjecture explains mirror symmetry as $T$-duality. After a brief review on SYZ mirror symmetry and mirrors of symplectic toric Calabi-Yau 3-orbifolds, we give a non-technical exposition of our results on the Remodeling C…
We study an example of complete intersection Calabi-Yau threefold due to Libgober and Teitelbaum arXiv:alg-geom/9301001, and verify mirror symmetry at a cohomological level. Direct computations allow us to propose an analogue to the Berglund-Hübsch mirror symmetry setup for this example arXiv:hep-th/9201014. We then follow the approach of Krawitz to propose an explicit mirror map arXiv:0906.0796.
We give a survey on results related to the Berglund-Hübsch duality of invertible polynomials and the homological mirror symmetry conjecture for singularities.
We give a full exceptional collection in the triangulated category of singularities in the sense of Orlov for a hypersurface singularity of Fermat type, and discuss its relation with homological mirror symmetry for simple elliptic hypersurface singularities.
We propose a construction of string cohomology spaces for Calabi-Yau hypersurfaces that arise in Batyrev's mirror symmetry construction. The spaces are defined explicitly in terms of the corresponding reflexive polyhedra in a mirror-symmetric manner. We draw connections with other approaches to the string cohomology, in particular with the work of Chen and Ruan.
We introduce a new version of 3d mirror symmetry for toric stacks, inspired by a 3d $\mathcal{N} = 2$ abelian mirror symmetry construction in physics. Given some toric data, we introduce the $K$-theoretic $I$-function with effective level structure for the associated toric stack. When a particular stability condition is chosen, it restricts to the $I$-function for the particular toric GIT quotient. The mirror of a toric stack is defined by the Gale dual of the original toric data. We then proved the mirror conjecture that the $I$-functions of a mirror pair coincide, under the mirror map, which…
Applying tropical geometry a framework for mirror symmetry, including a mirror construction for Calabi-Yau varieties, was proposed by the author. We discuss the conceptual foundations of this construction based on a natural mirror map identifying deformations and divisors. We show how the construction specializes to that by Batyrev for hypersurfaces and its generalization by Batyrev and Borisov to complete intersections. Based on an explicit example we comment on the implementation in the Macaulay2 package SRdeformations.
We study some arithmetic properties of the mirror maps and the quantum Yukawa coupling for some 1-parameter deformations of Calabi-Yau manifolds. First we use the Schwarzian differential equation, which we derived previously, to characterize the mirror map in each case. For algebraic K3 surfaces, we solve the equation in terms of the $J$-function. By deriving explicit modular relations we prove that some K3 mirror maps are algebraic over the genus zero function field ${\bf Q}(J)$. This leads to a uniform proof that those mirror maps have integral Fourier coefficients. Regarding the maps as Rie…
This paper gives a new way of constructing Landau-Ginzburg mirrors using deformation theory of Lagrangian immersions motivated by the works of Seidel, Strominger-Yau-Zaslow and Fukaya-Oh-Ohta-Ono. Moreover we construct a canonical functor from the Fukaya category to the mirror category of matrix factorizations. This functor derives homological mirror symmetry under some explicit assumptions. As an application, the construction is applied to spheres with three orbifold points to produce their quantum-corrected mirrors and derive homological mirror symmetry. Furthermore we discover an enumerativ…
In this paper, the numbers of rational curves on general complete intersection Calabi-Yau threefolds in complex projective spaces are computed up to degree six. The results are all in agreement with the predictions made from mirror symmetry.
Mirror Symmetry, Picard-Fuchs equations and instanton corrected Yukawa couplings are discussed within the framework of toric geometry. It allows to establish mirror symmetry of Calabi-Yau spaces for which the mirror manifold had been unavailable in previous constructions. Mirror maps and Yukawa couplings are explicitly given for several examples with two and three moduli.
Mirror symmetry of the type II string has a beautiful generalization to the heterotic string. This generalization, known as (0,2) mirror symmetry, is a field still largely in its infancy. We describe recent developments including the ideas behind quantum sheaf cohomology, the mirror map for deformations of (2,2) mirrors, the construction of mirror pairs from worldsheet duality, as well as an overview of some of the many open questions. The (0,2) mirrors of Hirzebruch surfaces are presented as a new example.
We describe recent progress in a program to understand the classification of three-dimensional Fano varieties with $\mathbb{Q}$-factorial terminal singularities using mirror symmetry. As part of this we give an improved and more conceptual understanding of Laurent inversion, a technique that sometimes allows one to construct a Fano variety $X$ directly from a Laurent polynomial $f$ that corresponds to it under mirror symmetry.
We describe a notion of lattice polarization for rational elliptic surfaces and weak del Pezzo surfaces, and describe the complex moduli of the former and the Kähler cone of the latter. We then propose a version of mirror symmetry relating these two objects, which should be thought of as a form of Fano-LG correspondence. Finally, we relate this notion to other forms of mirror symmetry, including Dolgachev-Nikulin-Pinkham mirror symmetry for lattice polarized K3 surfaces and the Gross-Siebert program.
In this paper, we will describe the mathematical foundation of topological Landau-Ginzburg (LG) models coupled to gravity at genus 0 in terms of primitive forms. We also discuss the mirror symmetry for Calabi-Yau manifolds and CP^1 in our context. We will show that the mirror partner of CP^1 is the theory of primitive form associated to f=z+qz^{-1}.
