In this paper, we will describe the mathematical foundation of topological Landau-Ginzburg (LG) models coupled to gravity at genus 0 in terms of primitive forms. We also discuss the mirror symmetry for Calabi-Yau manifolds and CP^1 in our context. We will show that the mirror partner of CP^1 is the theory of primitive form associated to f=z+qz^{-1}.
We identify a certain universal Landau-Ginzburg model as a mirror of the big equivariant quantum cohomology of a (not necessarily compact or semipositive) toric manifold. The mirror map and the primitive form are constructed via Seidel elements and shift operators for equivariant quantum cohomology. Primitive forms in non-equivariant theory are identified up to automorphisms of the mirror.
It is one of the most important problems in mirror symmetry to obtain functorially Frobenius manifolds from smooth compact Calabi-Yau $A_\infty$-categories. This paper gives an approach to this problem based on the theory of primitive forms. Under an assumption on the formality of a certain homotopy algebra, a formal primitive form for a smooth compact Calabi-Yau dg algebra can be constructed, which enable us to have a formal Frobenius manifold.
We study categorical primitive forms for Calabi--Yau $A_\infty$ categories with semi-simple Hochschild cohomology. We classify these primitive forms in terms of certain grading operators on the Hochschild homology. We use this result to prove that, if the Fukaya category ${\sf Fuk}(M)$ of a symplectic manifold $M$ has semi-simple Hochschild cohomology, then its genus zero Gromov--Witten invariants may be recovered from the $A_\infty$-category ${\sf Fuk}(M)$ together with the closed-open map. An immediate corollary of this is that in the semi-simple case, homological mirror symmetry implies enu…
In this note we will study the Hilbert 12th problem for a primitive CM field, and the corresponding Stark conjectures. Using the idea of Mirror Symmetry, we will show how to generate all the class fields of a given primitive CM field, thus complete the work of Shimura- Taniyama-Weil.
In this paper, we prove the mirror symmetry conjecture between the Saito-Givental theory of exceptional unimodular singularities on Landau-Ginzburg B-side and the Fan-Jarvis-Ruan-Witten theory of their mirror partners on Landau-Ginzburg A-side. On the B-side, we compute the genus-zero generating function from a perturbative formula of primitive forms introduced by the first three authors recently. This computation matches the orbifold-Grothendieck-Riemann-Roch and WDVV calculations in FJRW theory on the A-side. The coincidence of the full data at all genera is established by reconstruction tec…
We develop a complex differential geometric approach to the theory of higher residues and primitive forms from the viewpoint of Kodaira-Spencer gauge theory, unifying the semi-infinite period maps for Calabi-Yau models and Landau-Ginzburg models. We give an explicit perturbative construction of primitive forms with respect to opposite filtrations and primitive elements. This leads to a concrete algorithm to compute the Taylor expansions of primitive forms as well as the description of their moduli space for all weighted homogenous cases. As an example, we present unknown perturbative expressio…
Starting from the Kähler moduli space of the rigid orbifold Z=E^3/\mathbb{Z}_3 one would expect for the cohomology of the generalized mirror to be a Hodge structure of Calabi-Yau type (1,9,9,1). We show that such a structure arises in a natural way from rational Hodge structures on Λ^3 \mathbb{K}^6, \mathbb{K}=\mathbb{Q}[ω], where ωis a primitive third root of unity. We do not try to identify an underlying geometry, but we show how special geometry arises in our abstract construction. We also show how such Hodge structure can be recovered as a polarized substructure of a bigger Hodge structure…
We consider a mirror symmetry of simple elliptic singularities. In particular, we construct isomorphisms of Frobenius manifolds among the one from the Gromov--Witten theory of a weighted projective line, the one from the theory of primitive forms for a universal unfolding of a simple elliptic singularity and the one from the invariant theory for an elliptic Weyl group. As a consequence, we give a geometric interpretation of the Fourier coefficients of an eta product considered by K. Saito.
We construct a global B-model for weighted homogeneous polynomials based on K. Saito's theory of primitive forms. Our main motivation is to give a rigorous statement of the so called global mirror symmetry conjecture relating Gromov-Witten invariants and Fan--Jarvis--Ruan--Witten invariants. Furthermore, our construction allows us to generalize the notion of a quasi-modular form and holomorphic anomaly equations. Finally, we prove the global mirror symmetry conjecture for the Fermat polynomials.
These are notes of a series of lectures on mirror symmetry and topological string theory given at the Mathematical Sciences Center at Tsinghua University. The N=2 superconformal algebra, its deformations and its chiral ring are reviewed. A topological field theory can be constructed whose observables are only the elements of the chiral ring. When coupled to gravity, this leads to topological string theory. The identification of the topological string A- and B-models by mirror symmetry leads to surprising connections in mathematics and provides tools for exact computations as well as new insigh…
In this article, we formulate a planar limited version of the B-side in homological mirror symmetry that formularizes Chern-Simons-type topological open string field theory using homotopy associative algebra ($A_{\infty}$ algebra). This formulation is based on the works by Dijkgraaf and Vafa. We show that our formularization includes gravity/gauge theory correspondence which originates in the AdS/CFT duality of Dijkgraaf-Vafa theory.
We discuss local mirror symmetry for higher-genus curves. Specifically, we consider the topological string partition function of higher-genus curves contained in a Fano surface within a Calabi-Yau. Our main example is the local P^2 case. The Kodaira-Spencer theory of gravity, tailored to this local geometry, can be solved to compute this partition function. Then, using the results of Gopakumar and Vafa and the local mirror map, the partition function can be rewritten in terms of expansion coefficients, which are found to be integers. We verify, through localization calculations in the A-model,…
For any triple of positive integers $A' = (a_1',a_2',a_3')$ and $c \in \mathbb{C}^*$, cusp polynomial $f_{A'} = x_1^{a_1'}+x_2^{a_2'}+x_3^{a_3'}-c^{-1}x_1x_2x_3$ is known to be mirror to Geigle-Lenzing orbifold projective line $\mathbb{P}^1_{a_1',a_2',a_3'}$. More precisely, with a suitable choice of a primitive form, Frobenius manifold of a cusp polynomial $f_{A'}$, turns out to be isomorphic to the Frobenius manifold of the Gromov-Witten theory of $\mathbb{P}^1_{a_1',a_2',a_3'}$. In this paper we extend this mirror phenomenon to the equivariant case. Namely, for any $G$ - a symmetry group of…
We consider a $d$-dimensional well-formed weighted projective space $\mathbb{P}(\overline{w})$ as a toric variety associated with a fan $Σ(\overline{w})$ in $N_{\overline{w}} \otimes \mathbb{N}$ whose $1$-dimensional cones are spanned by primitive vectors $v_0, v_1, \ldots, v_d \in N_{\overline{w}}$ generating a lattice $N_{\overline{w}}$ and satisfying the linear relation $\sum_i w_i v_i =0$. For any fixed dimension $d$, there exist only finitely many weight vectors $\overline{w} = (w_0, \ldots, w_d)$ such that $\mathbb{P}(\overline{w})$ contains a quasi-smooth Calabi-Yau hypersurface $X_w$ d…
