In this paper, we prove a quantitative regularity theorem and a blow-up criterion of classical solutions for the three-dimensional Navier-Stokes equations. By adapting the strategy developed by Tao in [20], we obtain an explicit blow-up rate in the setting of critical Lorentz spaces $L^{3, q_{0}}(\mathbb R^3)$ with $3 \leq q_0 < \infty $. Our results improve the previous regularity in critical Lebesgue spaces $L^3(\mathbb R^3)$ in [20] and quantify the qualitative result by Phuc in [16].
In this note, we consider the homogenization of the compressible Navier-Stokes equations in a periodically perforated domain in $\mathbb{R}^3$. Assuming that the particle size scales like $\varepsilon^3$, where $\varepsilon>0$ is their mutual distance, and that the Mach number decreases fast enough, we show that in the limit $\varepsilon\to 0$, the velocity and density converge to a solution of the incompressible Navier-Stokes equations with Brinkman term. We strongly follow the methods of Höfer, Kowalczik and Schwarzacher [arXiv:2007.09031], where they proved convergence to Darcy's law for th…
In this paper, we derive some new Gagliardo-Nirenberg type inequalities in Lorentz type spaces without restrictions on the second index of Lorentz norms, which generalize almost all known corresponding results. Our proof mainly relies on the Bernstein inequalities in Lorentz spaces, the embedding relation among various Lorentz type spaces, and Littlewood-Paley decomposition techniques. In addition, we establish several novel criteria in terms of the velocity or the gradient of the velocity in Lorentz spaces for energy conservation of the 3D Navier-Stokes equations. Particularly, we improve the…
We revisit the regularity theory of Escauriaza, Seregin, and Šverák for solutions to the three-dimensional Navier-Stokes equations which are uniformly bounded in the critical $L^3_x(\mathbf{R}^3)$ norm. By replacing all invocations of compactness methods in these arguments with quantitative substitutes, and similarly replacing unique continuation and backwards uniqueness estimates by their corresponding Carleman inequalities, we obtain quantitative bounds for higher regularity norms of these solutions in terms of the critical $L^3_x$ bound (with a dependence that is triple exponential in natur…
The Liouville problem for the stationary Navier-Stokes equations on the whole space is a challenging open problem who has know several recent contributions. We prove here some Liouville type theorems for these equations provided the velocity field belongs to some Lorentz spaces and then in the more general setting of Morrey spaces. Our theorems correspond to a improvement of some recent result on this problem and contain some well-known results as a particular case.
In this paper, we are concerned with regularity of suitable weak solutions of the 3D Navier-Stokes equations in Lorentz spaces. We obtain $\varepsilon$-regularity criteria in terms of either the velocity, the gradient of the velocity, the vorticity, or deformation tensor in Lorentz spaces. As an application, this allows us to extend the result involving Leray's blow up rate in time, and to show that the number of singular points of weak solutions belonging to $ L^{p,\infty}(-1,0;L^{q,l}(\mathbb{R}^{3})) $ and $ {2}/{p}+{3}/{q}=1$ with $3<q<\infty$ and $q\leq l <\infty$ is finite.
In this paper, we derive regular criteria via pressure or gradient of the velocity in Lorentz spaces to the 3D Navier-Stokes equations. It is shown that a Leray-Hopf weak solution is regular on $(0,T]$ provided that either the norm $\|Π\|_{L^{p,\infty}(0,T; L ^{q,\infty}(\mathbb{R}^{3}))} $ with $ {2}/{p}+{3}/{q}=2$ $({3}/{2}<q<\infty)$ or $\|\nablaΠ\|_{L^{p,\infty}(0,T; L ^{q,\infty}(\mathbb{R}^{3}))} $ with $ {2}/{p}+{3}/{q}=3$ $(1<q<\infty)$ is small. This gives an affirmative answer to a question proposed by Suzuki in [26, Remark 2.4, p.3850]. Moreover, regular conditions in terms of $\nab…
For initial data $f\in L^{2}(\mathbb{R}^n)$ ($n\geq 2$), we prove that if $p\in(n,\infty]$, any solution $u\in L_{t}^{\infty}L_{x}^{2}\cap L_{t}^{2}H_{x}^{1}\cap L_{t}^{\frac{2p}{p-n}}L_{x}^{p,\infty}$ to the Navier-Stokes equations satisfies the energy equality, and that such a solution $u$ is unique among all solutions $v\in L_{t}^{\infty}L_{x}^{2}\cap L_{t}^{2}H_{x}^{1}$ satisfying the energy inequality. This extends well-known results due to G. Prodi (1959) and J. Serrin (1963), which treated the Lebesgue space $L_{x}^{p}$ rather than the larger Lorentz (and `weak Lebesgue') space $L_{x}^{…
In this paper, we derive several new sufficient conditions of non-breakdown of strong solutions for for both the 3D heat-conducting compressible Navier-Stokes system and nonhomogeneous incompressible Navier-Stokes equations. First, it is shown that there exists a positive constant $\varepsilon$ such that the solution $(ρ,u,θ)$ to full compressible Navier-Stokes equations can be extended beyond $t=T$ provided that one of the following two conditions holds (1) $ρ\in L^{\infty}(0,T;L^{\infty}(\mathbb{R}^{3}))$, $u\in L^{p,\infty}(0,T;L^{q,\infty}(\mathbb{R}^{3}))$ and $$\| u\|_{L^{p,\infty}(0,T;L…
In this paper we derive regular criteria in Lorentz spaces for Leray-Hopf weak solutions $v$ of the three-dimensional Navier-Stokes equations based on the formal equivalence relation $π\cong|v|^2$, where $π$ denotes the fluid pressure and $v$ the fluid velocity. It is called the mixed pressure-velocity problem (the P-V problem). It is shown that if $\fπ{(e^{-|x|^2}+|v|)^θ}\in L^p(0,T;L^{q,\infty})\,,$ where $0\leqθ\leq1$ and $\f2p+\f3q=2-θ$, then $v$ is regular on $(0,T]$. Note that, if $\Om$ is periodic, we may replace $\,e^{-|x|^2} \,$ by a positive constant. This result improves a 2018 stat…
In this paper, we establish several new anisotropic Hardy-Sobolev inequalities in mixed Lebesgue spaces and mixed Lorentz spaces, which covers many known corresponding results. As an application, this type of inequalities allows us to generalize some regularity criteria of the 3D axisymmetric Navier-Stokes equations.
In this paper, we investigate the 3D inhomogeneous Navier-Stokes flows with vacuum, and obtain regularity criteria and Liouville type theorems in the Lorentz space if a smooth solution $(ρ, \mathbf{u})$ satisfies suitable conditions.
Our aim is to prove Liouville type theorems for the three dimensional steady-state Navier-Stokes equations provided the velocity field belongs to some Lorentz spaces. The corresponding statement contains several known results as a particular case.
We study the second spatial derivatives of suitable weak solutions to the incompressible Navier-Stokes equations in dimension three. We show that it is locally $L ^{\frac43, q}$ for any $q > \frac43$, which improves from the current result $L ^{\frac43, \infty}$. Similar improvements in Lorentz space are also obtained for higher derivatives of the vorticity for smooth solutions. We use a blow-up technique to obtain nonlinear bounds compatible with the scaling. The local study works on the vorticity equation and uses De Giorgi iteration. In this local study, we can obtain any regularity of the …
We study the large-time asymptotic behavior of solutions toward the combination of a viscous contact wave with two rarefaction waves for the compressible non-isentropic Navier-Stokes equations coupling with the Maxwell equations through the Lorentz force (called the Navier-Stokes-Maxwell equations). It includes the electrodynamic effects into the dissipative structure of the hyperbolic-parabolic system and turns out to be more complicated than that in the simpler compressible Navier-Stokes equations. Based on a new observation of the specific structure of the Maxwell equations in the Lagrangia…
This paper addresses several problems associated to local energy solutions (in the sense of Lemarié-Rieusset) to the Navier-Stokes equations with initial data which is sufficiently small at large or small scales as measured using truncated Morrey-type quantities, namely: (1) global existence for a class of data including the critical $L^2$-based Morrey space; (2) initial and eventual regularity of local energy solutions to the Navier-Stokes equations with initial data sufficiently small at small or large scales; (3) small-large uniqueness of local energy solutions for data in the critical $L^2…
We investigate the large-time behavior of solutions toward the combination of the boundary layer and 3-rarefaction waves to the outflow problem for the compressible non-isentropic Navier-Stokes equations coupling with the Maxwell equations through the Lorentz force (called the Navier-Stokes-Maxwell equations) on the half line $ \mathbb{R}_+ $. It includes the electrodynamic effects into the dissipative structure of the hyperbolic-parabolic system and turns out to be more complicated than that in the simpler compressible Navier-Stokes equations. We prove that this typical composite wave pattern…
We here aim at proving the global existence and uniqueness of solutions to the inhomogeneous incompressible Navier-Stokes system in the case where the initial density is discontinuous and the initial velocity has critical regularity. Assuming that the initial density is close to a positive constant, we obtain global existence and uniqueness in the two-dimensional case whenever the initial velocity belongs to some critical homogeneous Besov space (and in small in the three-dimensional case). Next, still in a critical functional framework, we establish a uniqueness statement that is valid in the…
In this paper, it is shown that there does not exist a non-trivial Leray's backward self-similar solution to the 3D Navier-Stokes equations with profiles in Morrey spaces $\dot{\mathcal{M}}^{q,1}(\mathbb{R}^{3})$ provided $3/2<q<6$, or in $\dot{\mathcal{M}}^{q,l}(\mathbb{R}^{3})$ provided $6\leq q<\infty$ and $2<l\leq q$. This generalizes the corresponding results obtained by Nečas-Råužička-Šverák [19, Acta.Math. 176 (1996)] in $L^{3}(\mathbb{R}^{3})$, Tsai [25, Arch. Ration. Mech. Anal. 143 (1998)] in $L^{p}(\mathbb{R}^{3})$ with $p\geq3$,, Chae-Wolf [3, Arch. Ration. Mech. Anal. 225 (2017)] …
In this paper, we generalize the main results of [1] and [31] to Lorentz spaces, using a simple procedure. The main results are the following. Let $n\geq 3$ and let $u$ be a Leray-Hopf solution to the $n$-dimensional Navier-Stokes equations with viscosity $ν$ and divergence free initial condition $u_0\in L^2(\mathbb{R}^n)\cap L^{k}(\mathbb{R}^n)$ (where $k=k(s)$ is sufficiently large). Then there exists a constant $c>0$ such that if \begin{equation} \|p\|_{L^{r,\infty}(0,\infty;L^{s,\infty}(\mathbb{R}^n))}<c\hspace{10mm}\frac{n}{s}+\frac{2}{r}\leq 2,\hspace{5mm}s>\frac{n}{2} \end{equation} or …
