We initiate a general approach to the relative braid group symmetries on (universal) $\imath$quantum groups, arising from quantum symmetric pairs of arbitrary finite types, and their modules. Our approach is built on new intertwining properties of quasi $K$-matrices which we develop and braid group symmetries on (Drinfeld double) quantum groups. Explicit formulas for these new symmetries on $\imath$quantum groups are obtained. We establish a number of fundamental properties for these symmetries on $\imath$quantum groups, strikingly parallel to their well-known quantum group counterparts. We apply these symmetries to fully establish rank one factorizations of quasi $K$-matrices, and this factorization property in turn helps to show that the new symmetries satisfy relative braid relations. As a consequence, conjectures of Kolb-Pellegrini and Dobson-Kolb are settled affirmatively. Finally, the above approach allows us to construct compatible relative braid group actions on modules over quantum groups for the first time.
We establish automorphisms with closed formulas on quasi-split $\imath$quantum groups of symmetric Kac-Moody type associated to restricted Weyl groups. The proofs are carried out in the framework of $\imath$Hall algebras and reflection functors, thanks to the $\imath$Hall algebra realization of $\imath$quantum groups in our previous work. Several quantum binomial identities arising along the way are established.
Let $(\bf U, \bf U^\imath)$ be a quantum symmetric pair of Kac-Moody type. The $\imath$quantum groups $\bf U^\imath$ and the universal $\imath$quantum groups $\widetilde{\bf U}^\imath$ can be viewed as a generalization of quantum groups and Drinfeld doubles $\widetilde{\bf U}$. In this paper we formulate and establish Serre-Lusztig relations for $\imath$quantum groups in terms of $\imath$divided powers, which are an $\imath$-analog of Lusztig's higher order Serre relations for quantum groups. This has applications to braid group symmetries on $\imath$quantum groups.
let $\widetilde{\bf U}^\imath$ be a quasi-split universal $\imath$quantum group associated to a quantum symmetric pair $(\widetilde{\bf U}, \widetilde{\bf U}^\imath)$ of Kac-Moody type with a diagram involution $τ$. We establish the Serre-Lusztig relations for $\widetilde{\bf U}^\imath$ associated to a simple root $i$ such that $i \neq τi$, complementary to the Serre-Lusztig relations associated to $i=τi$ which we obtained earlier. A conjecture on braid group symmetries on $\widetilde{\bf U}^\imath$ associated to $i$ disjoint from $τi$ is formulated.
We develop a general theory of canonical bases for quantum symmetric pairs $(\mathbf{U}, \mathbf{U}^\imath)$ with parameters of arbitrary finite type. We construct new canonical bases for the simple integrable $\mathbf{U}$-modules and their tensor products regarded as $\mathbf{U}^\imath$-modules. We also construct a canonical basis for the modified form of the $\imath$quantum group $\mathbf{U}^\imath$. To that end, we establish several new structural results on quantum symmetric pairs, such as bilinear forms, braid group actions, integral forms, Levi subalgebras (of real rank one), and integra…
In this paper, we construct the Lusztig symmetries for quantum Borcherds-Bozec algebra $U_q(\mathscr g)$ and its weight module $M\in \mathcal O$, on which the generators with real indices of $U_q(\mathscr g)$ act nilpotently. We show that these symmetries satisfy the defining relations of the braid group, associated to the Weyl group $W$ of $U_q(\mathscr g)$, which gives a braid group action.
We identify natural symmetries of each rigid higher braided category. Specifically, we construct a functorial action by the continuous group $Ω\mathsf{O}(n)$ on each $\mathcal{E}_{n-1}$-monoidal $(g,d)$-category $\mathcal{R}$ in which each object is dualizable (for $n\geq 2$, $d \geq 0$, $d \leq g \leq \infty$). This action determines a canonical action by the continuous group $Ω\mathbb{R}\mathbb{P}^{n-1}$ on the moduli space of objects of each such $\mathcal{R}$. In cases where the parameters $n$, $d$, and $g$ are small, we compare these continuous symmetries to known symmetries, which manife…
Racah matrices of quantum algebras are of great interest at present time. These matrices have a relation with $\mathcal{R}$-matrices, which are much simpler than the Racah matrices themselves. This relation is known as the eigenvalue conjecture. In this paper we study symmetries of Racah matrices which follow from the eigenvalue conjecture for multistrand braids.
We give a classification of Wada-type representations of the braid groups, and solutions of a variant of the set-theoretical Yang-Baxter equation adapted to the free-product group structure. As a consequence, we prove Wada's conjecture: There are only seven types of Wada-type representations up to certain symmetries.
This paper is the first of a pair that aims to classify a large number of the type $II$ quantum subgroups of the categories $\mathcal{C}(\mathfrak{sl}_{r+1},k)$. In this work we classify the braided auto-equivalences of the categories of local modules for all known type $I$ quantum subgroups of $\mathcal{C}(\mathfrak{sl}_{r+1},k)$. We find that the symmetries are all non-exceptional except for four cases (up to level-rank duality). These exceptional cases are the orbifolds $\mathcal{C}( \mathfrak{sl}_{2},16)_{\operatorname{Rep}(\mathbb{Z}_2)}$, $\mathcal{C}( \mathfrak{sl}_{3},9)_{\operatorname…
A finite bosonic or fermionic symmetry can be described uniquely by a symmetric fusion category $\mathcal{E}$. In this work, we propose that 2+1D topological/SPT orders with a fixed finite symmetry $\mathcal{E}$ are classified, up to $E_8$ quantum Hall states, by the unitary modular tensor categories $\mathcal{C}$ over $\mathcal{E}$ and the modular extensions of each $\mathcal{C}$. In the case $\mathcal{C}=\mathcal{E}$, we prove that the set $\mathcal{M}_{ext}(\mathcal{E})$ of all modular extensions of $\mathcal{E}$ has a natural structure of a finite abelian group. We also prove that the set …
Suppose $D$ is a finite dimensional C*-algebra carrying a continuous action $\overlineΠ$ of the circle group $\mathbb{T}$. We study the quantum symmetry group of $D$, taking $\overlineΠ$ into account. We show that they are braided compact quantum groups $\mathbb{G}$ over $\mathbb{T}$. Here, the R-matrix, $\mathbb{Z}\times\mathbb{Z}\ni (m,n)\to ζ^{-m\cdot n}\in\mathbb{T}$ for a fixed $ζ\in \mathbb{T}$, governs the braided structure. In particular, if $\overlineΠ$ is trivial, $ζ=1$ or $D$ is commutative, then $\mathbb{G}$ coincides with Wang's quantum group of automorphisms of $D$. Moreover, we …
We introduce analogs of creation and annihilation operators, related to involutive and Hecke symmetries R, and perform bosonic and fermionic realization of the modified Reflection Equation algebras in terms of the so-called Quantum Doubles of Fock type. Also, we introduce Quantum Doubles of Fock type, associated with Birman-Murakami-Wenzl symmetries coming from orthogonal or simplectic Quantum Groups and exhibit the algebras obtained by means of the corresponding bosonization (fermionization). Besides, we apply this scheme to current braidings arising from Hecke symmetries R via the Baxterizat…
We show that representations of the loop braid group arise from Aharonov-Bohm like effects in finite 2-group (3+1)-dimensional topological higher gauge theory. For this we introduce a minimal categorification of biracks, which we call W-bikoids (welded bikoids). Our main example of W-bikoids arises from finite 2-groups, realised as crossed modules of groups. Given a W-bikoid, and hence a groupoid of symmetries, we construct a family of unitary representations of the loop braid group derived from representations of the groupoid algebra. We thus give a candidate for higher Bais' flux metamorphos…
Weak C* Hopf algebras can act as global symmetries in low-dimensional quantum field theories, when braid group statistics prevents group symmetries. Possibilities to construct field algebras with weak C* Hopf symmetry from a given theory of local observables are discussed.
Symmetries of three-dimensional topological field theories are naturally defined in terms of invertible topological surface defects. Symmetry groups are thus Brauer-Picard groups. We present a gauge theoretic realization of all symmetries of abelian Dijkgraaf-Witten theories. The symmetry group for a Dijkgraaf-Witten theory with gauge group a finite abelian group $A$, and with vanishing 3-cocycle, is generated by group automorphisms of $A$, by automorphisms of the trivial Chern-Simons 2-gerbe on the stack of $A$-bundles, and by partial e-m dualities. We show that transmission functors naturall…
We construct an action of the braid group B_N on the twisted quantized enveloping algebra U'_q(o_N) where the elements of B_N act as automorphisms. In the classical limit q -> 1 we recover the action of B_N on the polynomial functions on the space of upper triangular matrices with ones on the diagonal. The action preserves the Poisson bracket on the space of polynomials which was introduced by Nelson and Regge in their study of quantum gravity and re-discovered in the mathematical literature. Furthermore, we construct a Poisson bracket on the space of polynomials associated with another twiste…
We apply the mechanism of factorization homology to construct and compute category-valued two-dimensional topological field theories associated to braided tensor categories, generalizing the $(0,1,2)$-dimensional part of Crane-Yetter-Kauffman 4D TFTs associated to modular categories. Starting from modules for the Drinfeld-Jimbo quantum group $U_q(\mathfrak g)$ we obtain in this way an aspect of topologically twisted 4-dimensional ${\mathcal N}=4$ super Yang-Mills theory, the setting introduced by Kapustin-Witten for the geometric Langlands program. For punctured surfaces, in particular, we pro…
We observe that all classical Hamiltonian systems coming from the invariant polynomials on a reductive Lie algebra g can be integrated in a universal way. This is a consequence of Ngô's action of the group scheme J of regular centralizers in G on all centralizers: the Hamiltonian flows associated to invariant polynomials integrate to an action of J as commutative symplectic groupoid. We quantize the Ngô action, providing a universal integration for all quantum Hamiltonian systems coming from the center Z=Z(Ug) of the enveloping algebra. Namely we extend Kostant's Whittaker description of Z to …
