Braneworld scenarios appear in dynamical string tension theories, where string tension is positive between two surfaces separated by a short distance and at the two surfaces themselves the string tensions become infinite, therefore producing an effective confinement of the strings and therefore of all matter and gravity to the space between these to surfaces. The specific model studied is in the context of the modified measure formulation the string where tension appear as an additional dynamical degree of freedom and these tensions are not universal, but rather each string generates its own tension, which can have a different value for each string. We consider a new background field that can couple to these strings, the tension scalar is capable then of changing locally along the world sheet and then the value of the tension of the string object changes accordingly along the world sheet. Sting tension appears dynamically and each string tension has a characteristic constant of integration that appears as a consequence of the dynamical tension generation . When many types of strings probing the same region of space are considered this tension scalar is constrained by the requirement of quantum conformal invariance. For the case of two types of strings probing the same region of space with different dynamically generated tensions (characterized by different constants of integration) , there are two different metrics, associated to the different strings, that have to satisfy vacuum Einsteins equations and the consistency of these two Einsteins equations determine that the tension field behaves. The two metrics are flat space in Minkowshi space and flat space after a special conformal transformation, then the strings are confined inside a light like Segment or alternatively as expanding Braneworlds where the strings are confined between two expanding bubbles.
We study the four-dimensional gravitational fluctuation on anisotropic brane tension embedded in braneworlds with vanishing bulk cosmological constant. In this setup, warp factors have two types (A and B) and we point out that the two types correspond to positive and negative tension brane, respectively. We show that volcano potential in the model of type A has singularity and the usual Newton's law is reproduced by the existence of normalizable zero mode. While, in the case of type B, the effective Planck scale is infinite so that there is no normalizable zero mode.
We apply the Gauss-Codacci formalism to brane worlds scenario within the framework of Brans-Dicke gravity. The compactification is taken from six to five dimensions in order to formalize brane-world models with hybrid compactification in scalar-tensor theories.
We obtain, via the Gauss-Codazzi formalism, the expression of the effective Einstein-Brans-Dicke projected equations in a non-$\mathbb{Z}_{2}$ symmetric braneworld scenario which presents hybrid compactification. It is shown that the functional form of such equations resembles the one in the Einstein's case, except by the fact that they bring extra informations in the context of exotic compactifications.
We discuss various realizations of the four dimensional braneworld inflation in warped geometries of string theory. In all models the inflaton field is represented by a Dp probe brane scalar specifying its position in the warped throat of the compactification manifold. We study existing inflationary throat local geometries, and construct a new example. The inflationary brane is either a D3- or a D5-brane of type IIB string theory. In the latter case the inflationary brane is wrapping a two-cycle of the compactification manifold. We discuss some phenomenological aspects of the model where slow-…
We consider a generalized Randall Sundrum (RS) brane world scenario with a cosmological constant $Ω$ induced on the visible brane. We show that for $Ω<0$, resolution of the hierarchy problem requires an upper bound on the magnitude of $Ω$. The corresponding tension on the visible brane can be positive or negative. On the other hand, there is no such bound for $Ω>0$. However, in this case, the resolution of the hierarchy problem along with the tuning of the value of the cosmological constant to its observed value closed to $+10^{-124}$ (in Planck units) naturally lead to the tuning of the modul…
Our main objective is to study how braneworld models of higher codimension differ from the 5D case and traditional Kaluza-Klein compactifications. We first derive the classical dynamics describing the physical fluctuations in a wide class of models incorporating gravity, non-Abelian gauge fields, the dilaton and two-form potential, as well as 3-brane sources. Next, we use these results to study braneworld compactifications in 6D supergravity, focusing on the bosonic fields in the minimal model; composed of the supergravity-tensor multiplet and the U(1) gauge multiplet whose flux supports the c…
We describe a concise general scheme for constructing solutions of Einstein-Maxwell-Kalb-Ramond gravity-matter system in bulk space-time interacting self-consistently with one or more (widely separated) codimension-one electrically charged lightlike branes. The lightlike brane dynamics is explicitly given by manifestly reparametrization invariant world-volume actions. We present several explicit classes of solutions with different physical interpretation as wormhole-like space-times with one, two or more "throats", singularity-free black holes, brane worlds and space-times undergoing a sequenc…
It has recently been argued that codimension-two braneworlds offer a promising line of attack on the cosmological constant problem, since in such models the Hubble rate is not directly related to the brane tension. We point out challenges to building more general models where the brane content is not restricted to pure tension. In order to address these challenges, we construct a thick brane model which we linearize around a well known static solution. We show that the model's cosmology does reduce to standard FRW behaviour, but find no hint of a self-tuning mechanism which might help solve th…
We revisit D-term inflation with the bounds of the cosmic string tension from gravitational wave observations and consider the possible deviation of the spectral index compared with the $Λ$CDM model in light of prerecombination resolutions of the Hubble tension. D-term inflation requires very small coupling constants under these constraints. We show that natural coupling constants ($g=λ=0.1$) can be achieved in the case of D-term inflation on the brane.
String tension fundamentally determines the properties of strings; yet its value is often assigned arbitrarily, creating a fine-tuning problem. We describe a mechanism for dynamically generating string tension in a flat or almost flat spacetime, using the modified measures formalism, which in turn naturally generates a new type of stringy brane-world scenario. Such a scenario allows strings to achieve near infinite tension confining the strings to two very close expanding surfaces, but the infinite tensions also threatens to distort the near-flat embedding spacetime through large back reaction…
After incorporating the f(R) gravity into the general braneworld sum rules scope, it is shown that some particular class of warped five dimensional nonlinear braneworld models, which may be interesting for the hierarchy problem solution, still require a negative tension brane. For other classes of warp factors (suitable and not suitable for approaching the hierarchy problem) it is not necessary any negative brane tension in the compactification scheme. In this vein, it is argued that in the bulk f(R) gravity context, some types of warp factors may be useful for approaching the hierarchy proble…
Braneworld models with variable tension are investigated, and the corrections on the black string horizon along the extra dimension are provided. Such corrections are encrypted in additional terms involving the covariant derivatives of the variable tension on the brane, providing profound consequences concerning the black string horizon variation along the extra dimension, near the brane. The black string horizon behavior is shown to be drastically modified by the terms corrected by the brane variable tension. In particular, a model motivated by the phenomenological interesting case regarding …
We show that the Gauss-Bonnet correction to Einstein gravity induces a gravitational tachyon mode, namely an unstable spin 2 fluctuation, in the Randall-Sundrum I model. We demonstrate that this instability is generically related to the presence of a negative tension brane in the set-up, with or without $Z_2$-symmetry across it. Indeed it is shown that the tachyon mode is a bound state localised on any negative tension brane of co-dimension one, embedded in anti-de Sitter background. We discuss the possible resolution of this instability by the inclusion of induced gravity terms on the branes …
We study compactifications of the $N=2$ 6D tensionless string on various complex two-folds down to two-dimensions. In the IR limit they become non-trivial conformal field theories in 2D. Using results of Vafa and Witten on the partition functions of twisted Super-Yang-Mills theories, we can study the resulting CFT. We also discuss the contribution of instantons made by wrapping strings on 2-cycles of the complex two-fold.
Conical brane singularities in six-dimensional flux compactification models can be resolved by introducing cylindrical codimension-one branes with regular caps instead of 3-branes (a la Kaluza-Klein braneworlds with fluxes). In this paper, we consider such a regularized braneworld with axial symmetry in six-dimensional Einstein-Maxwell theory. We derive a low energy effective theory on the regularized brane by employing the gradient expansion approach, and show that standard four-dimensional Einstein gravity is recovered at low energies. Our effective equations extend to the nonlinear gravity …
Braneworld models with variable brane tension $λ$ introduce a new degree of freedom that allows for evolving gravitational and cosmological constants, the latter being a natural candidate for dark energy. We consider a thermodynamic interpretation of the varying brane tension models, by showing that the field equations with variable $λ$ can be interpreted as describing matter creation in a cosmological framework. The particle creation rate is determined by the variation rate of the brane tension, as well as by the brane-bulk energy-matter transfer rate. We investigate the effect of a variable …
Motivated by possible extensions of the braneworld models with two branes, we investigate some consequences of a variable brane tension using the well established results on consistency conditions. By a slight modification of the usual stress-tensor used in order to derive the braneworld sum rules, we find out some important constraints obeyed by time dependent brane tensions. In particular it is shown that the tensions of two Randall-Sundrum like branes obeying, at the same time, an Eotvos law, aggravate the fine tuning problem. Also, it is shown that if the hidden brane tension obeys an Eotv…
Regular black strings solutions associated to a dynamical Friedmann-Robertson-Walker braneworld are obtained as a particular case of a regular bulk metric, in the context of a variable brane tension. By analyzing the 5D Kretschmann invariants, we show that the variable brane tension is capable to remove bulk singularities, along some eras of the evolution of the Universe. In particular, the black string time-dependent profile in the bulk is analyzed in the context of the McVittie metric on an Eötvös fluid braneworld, wherein the fluid dynamical brane tension depends on the brane temperature. T…
Inflationary cosmology is developed in the second Randall-Sundrum braneworld scenario, where the accelerated expansion arises through potentials that are too steep to drive inflation in conventional cosmology. A relationship between the scalar and tensor perturbation spectra is derived that is independent of both the inflaton potential and the brane tension. It is found that a single field with an inverse power law potential can act as both the inflaton and the quintessence field for suitable values of the brane tension.
We investigate the stability of the extra dimensions in a warped, codimension two braneworld that is based upon an Einstein-Maxwell-dilaton theory with a non-vanishing scalar field potential. The braneworld solution has two 3-branes, which are located at the positions of the conical singularities. For this type of brane solution the relative positions of the branes (the shape modulus) is determined via the tension-deficit relations, if the brane tensions are fixed. However, the volume of the extra dimensions (the volume modulus) is not fixed in the context of the classical theory, implying we …
We reinvestigate the thermodynamics of black objects (holes and strings) in four-dimensional braneworld models that are originally constructed by Emparan, Horowitz and Myers based on the anti-de Sitter (AdS) C-metric. After proving the uniqueness of slicing the AdS C-metric, we derive thermodynamic quantities of the black objects by means of the Euclidean formulation and find that we have no necessity of requiring any regularization to calculate their classical action. We show that there exist the Bekenstein-Hawking law and the thermodynamic first law. The thermodynamic mass of the localized b…
A covariantly constant dynamical two-form is exploited on a $D_3$-brane to obtain its gravity dual action, governing an $S^3$ deformed $AdS_5$ black hole, in a type IIB string theory on $S^1\times K3$. We invoke the Kaluza-Klein compactification to work out the open/closed string duality. Interestingly, the Reissner-Nordstrom black hole is obtained on the "non-Reimannian" braneworld.
The quantum creation probability and entropy of a 2-codimensional braneworld are calculated in the framework of no-boundary universe. The entropy can take an arbitrarily large value as the brane tensions increase, in violation of the conjectured "N-bound" in quantum gravity, even for a 4-dimensional ordinary universe.
We study linearized gravity in a six-dimensional Einstein-Maxwell model of warped braneworlds, where the extra dimensions are compactified by a magnetic flux. It is difficult to construct a strict codimension two braneworld with matter sources other than pure tension. To overcome this problem we replace the codimension two defect by an extended brane, with one spatial dimension compactified on a Kaluza-Klein circle. Our background is composed of a warped, axisymmetric bulk and one or two branes. We find that weak gravity sourced by arbitrary matter on the brane(s) is described by a four-dimens…
We present a general setup for junctions of semi-infinite 4-branes in $AdS_6$ with the Gauss-Bonnet term. The 3-brane tension at the junction of 4-branes can be nonzero. Using the brane junctions as the origin of the $Z_N$ discrete rotation symmetry, we identify 3-brane tensions at three fixed points of the orbifold $T^2/Z_3$ in terms of the 4-brane tensions. As a result, the three 3-brane tensions can be simultaneously positive, which enables us to explain the mass hierarchy by taking one of two branes apart from the hidden brane as the visible brane, and hence does not introduce a severe cos…
We study the problem of a four-dimensional brane lying in the five-dimensional degenerate Schwarzschild-de Sitter (Nariai) black hole, in five-dimensional $F(R)$-gravity. We show that there cannot exist the brane in the Nariai bulk space except the case that the brane tension vanishes. We demonstrate that the five-dimensional Nariai bulk is unstable in a large region of the parameter space. In particular, the Nariai bulk can have classical (anti-)evaporation instabilities. The bulk instability back-reacts on the four-dimensional brane, in case that the brane tension vanishes, and the unstable …
We constructed a six-dimensional version of the standing wave model with an anisotropic 4-brane generated by a phantom-like scalar field. The model represents a braneworld where the compact (on-brane) dimension is assumed to be sufficiently small in order to describe our universe (hybrid compactification). The proposed geometry of the brane and its transverse manifold is non-static, unlike the majority of braneworld models presented in the literature. Furthermore, we have shown that the zero-mode scalar field is localized around the brane. While in the string-like defect the scalar field is lo…
On the way towards quantum gravity and the unification of interaction, several ideas have been rejected and avenues avoided because they were perceived as physically unviable. But in the literature there are works in which it was found the contrary, namely that those rejected topics make sense after all. Such topics, reviewed in this article, are negative energies occurring in higher derivative theories and ultrahyperbolic spaces, ordering ambiguity of operators in curved spaces, the vast landscape of possible compactifications of extra dimensions in string theory, and quantization of a 3-bran…
In this paper, we use the Karch-Randall braneworld to study theories of quantum gravity in two dimensional (nearly) anti-de Sitter space (AdS$_2$). We focus on effective gravitational theories in the setup with two Karch-Randall branes embedded in an asymptotically AdS$_3$ bulk forming a wedge. We find the appearance of two-dimensional Einstein-Hilbert gravity (or the Lorenzian version of Marolf-Maxfield theory) when the branes are rigid but the emergence of a class of dilaton gravity models parameterized by the tensions of the two branes when brane fluctuations are accounted for. A special ca…
We consider domain walls embedded in curved backgrounds as an approximation for braneworld scenarios. We give a large class of new exact solutions, exhausting the possibilities for describing one and two walls for the cases where the curvature of both the bulk and the wall is locally constant. In the case of two walls, we find solutions where each wall has positive tension. An interesting property of these solutions is that the curvature of the walls can be much smaller than the tension, leading to a significant cancellation of the effective cosmological constant, which however is still much l…
We consider a supersymmetric hybrid inflation in the framework of the Randall-Sundrum type II Braneworld model. We drive an analytical expression for the scalar potential and find that the F-term dominates hybrid inflation process. We show that for some value of Brane tension we can eliminate the fine tuning problem related to coupling constant k of the potential: We also calculate all known spectrum inflation parameters and show that observational bounds from WMAP5, BAO and SN observations are satisfied.
In these notes we review aspects of semi-realistic particle physics from the point of view of type II orientifold compactifications. We discuss the appearance of gauge theories on spacetime filling D-branes which wrap non-trivial cycles in the Calabi-Yau. Chiral matter can appear at their intersections, with a natural interpretation of family replication given by the topological intersection number. We discuss global consistency, including tadpole cancellation and the generalized Green-Schwarz mechanism, and also the importance of related global $U(1)$ symmetries for superpotential couplings. …
We propose a cosmological braneworld scenario in which two branes collide and emerge as reborn branes whose tensions have signs opposite to the original tensions of the respective branes. In this scenario, gravity on each of the branes is described by a scalar-tensor-type theory in which the radion plays the role of the gravitational scalar, and the branes are assumed to be inflating. However, the whole dynamics is different from those of the usual inflation, due to the non-trivial dynamics of the radion field. Transforming the conformal frame to the Einstein frame, this born-again scenario re…
In this work we deal with the spacetime shaped by a straight cosmic string, emerging from local gauge theories, in the braneworld gravity context. We search for physical consequences of string features due to the modified gravitational scenario encoded in the projected gravitational equations. It is shown that cosmic strings in braneworld gravity may present significant differences when compared to the general relativity predictions since its linear density is modified and the deficit angle produced by the cosmic string is attenuated. Furthermore, the existence of cosmic strings in that scenar…
We present a comprehensive study of the cosmological solutions of 6D braneworld models with azimuthal symmetry in the extra dimensions, moduli stabilization by flux or a bulk scalar field, and which contain at least one 3-brane that could be identified with our world. We emphasize an unusual property of these models: their expansion rate depends on the 3-brane tension either not at all, or in a nonstandard way, at odds with the naive expected dimensional reduction of these systems to 4D general relativity at low energies. Unlike other braneworld attempts to find a self-tuning solution to the c…
We investigate the dynamical stability of warped, axially symmetric compactifications in anomaly free 6D gauged supergravity. The solutions have conical defects, which we source by 3-branes placed on orbifold fixed points, and a smooth limit to the classic sphere-monopole compactification. Like for the sphere, the extra fields that are generically required by anomaly freedom are especially relevant for stability. With positive tension branes only, there is a strict stability criterion (identical to the sphere case) on the charges present under the monopole background. Thus brane world models w…
We solve for the cosmological perturbations in a five-dimensional background consisting of two separating or colliding boundary branes, as an expansion in the collision speed V divided by the speed of light c. Our solution permits a detailed check of the validity of four-dimensional effective theory in the vicinity of the event corresponding to the big crunch/big bang singularity. We show that the four-dimensional description fails at the first nontrivial order in (V/c)^2. At this order, there is nontrivial mixing of the two relevant four-dimensional perturbation modes (the growing and decayin…
We consider a six-dimensional braneworld model and we study the cosmological evolution of a (4+1) brane-universe. Introducing matter on the brane we show that the scale factor of the physical three-dimensional brane-universe is related to the scale factor of the fourth dimension on the brane, and the suppression of the extra dimension compared to the three dimensions requires the presence of dark energy.
In this work, we propose a new class of smooth thick string-like braneworld in six dimensions. The brane exhibits a varying brane-tension and an $AdS$ asymptotic behavior. The brane-core geometry is parametrized by the Bulk cosmological constant, the brane width and by a geometrical deformation parameter. The source satisfies the dominant energy condition for the undeformed solution and has an exotic asymptotic regime for the deformed solution. This scenario provides a normalized massless Kaluza-Klein mode for the scalar, gravitational and gauge sectors. The near-brane geometry allows massive …
We systematically analyse weak coupling limits for 2-form tensor fields in the presence of gravity. Such limits are significant for testing various versions of the Weak Gravity and Swampland Distance Conjectures, and more broadly, the phenomenon of emergence. The weak coupling limits for 2-forms correspond to certain infinite-distance limits in the moduli space of string compactifications, where asymptotically tensionless, solitonic strings arise. These strings are identified as weakly coupled fundamental strings in a dual frame, which makes the idea of emergence manifest. Concretely we first …
Building on earlier work on football shaped extra dimensions, we construct a compact codimension two braneworld with precisely one brane. The two extra dimensions topologically represent a 2-torus which is stabilized by a bulk cosmological constant and magnetic flux. The torus has positive constant curvature almost everywhere, except for a single conical singularity at the location of the brane. In contradistinction to the football shaped case, there is no fine-tuning required for the brane tension. We also present some plausibility arguments why the model should not suffer from serious stabil…
We show the dynamical stability of a six-dimensional braneworld solution with warped flux compactification recently found by the authors. We consider linear perturbations around this background spacetime, assuming the axisymmetry in the extra dimensions. The perturbations are expanded by scalar-, vector- and tensor-type harmonics of the four-dimensional Minkoswki spacetime and we analyze each type separately. It is found that there is no unstable mode in each sector and that there are zero modes only in the tensor sector, corresponding to the four-dimensional gravitons. We also obtain the firs…
Utilising the master equation with source for perturbations of the Schwarzschild-Tangherlini solution, we construct perturbative solutions representing a black hole accelerated by a string in higher dimensions. We show that such solutions can be uniquely determined by a single function representing the local tension of the string, under natural asymptotic and regularity conditions. We further study whether we can construct a localised braneworld black hole solution from such a solution by cutting off a region containing the string by a hypersurface and putting a vacuum brane on the boundary. W…
We investigate braneworld cosmology based on the D-brane initiated in our previous paper. The brane is described by a Born-Infeld action and the gauge field is contained. The higher order corrections of an inverse string tension will be addressed. The results obtained by the truncated argument are altered by the higher order corrections. The equation of state of the gauge field on the brane is radiation-like in low energy scales and almost dust-like fluid in high energy scales. Our model is, however, limited below a critical finite value of the energy density. For the description of full histo…
In a variant of the Randall-Sundrum braneworld model which has a charged black hole in an anti-de Sitter bulk, the 4D speed of gravity depends upon one's location in the bulk, and in general differs from the speed of light on a given 3-brane. We apply phenomenological constraints on the difference in the speeds of light and gravity to models which use the warping to solve the hierarchy problem. In particular, consideration of the gravi-Cerenkov radiation of Kaluza-Klein gravitons by ultra-high energy cosmic rays leads to a stringent limit on the fractional difference between the graviton and p…
It has been suggested that codimension-two braneworlds might naturally explain the vanishing of the 4D effective cosmological constant, due to the automatic relation between the deficit angle and the brane tension. To investigate whether this cancellation happens dynamically, and within the context of a realistic cosmology, we study a codimension-two braneworld with spherical extra dimensions compactified by magnetic flux. Assuming Einstein gravity, we show that when the brane contains matter with an arbitrary equation of state, the 4D metric components are not regular at the brane, unless the…
We apply the bulk holographic dark energy in general 5D two-brane models. We extract the Friedmann equation on the physical brane and we show that in the general moving-brane case the effective 4D holographic dark energy behaves as a quintom for a large parameter-space area of a simple solution subclass. We find that $w_Λ$ was larger than -1 in the past while its present value is $w_{Λ_0}\approx-1.05$, and the phantom bound $w_Λ=-1$ was crossed at $z_{p}\approx0.41$, a result in agreement with observations. Such a behavior arises naturally, without the inclusion of special fields or potential …
We derive a solution of the gravitational equations which leads to a braneworld scenario in six dimensions using a global cosmic string solution in a low energy effective string theory framework. The final spacetime is composed by one warped brane with $\mathbb{R}^{(3,1)}\times S^{1}$ topology and a power law warp factor, and one noncompact extra dimension transverse to the brane. By looking at the current experimental bounds, we find a range of parameters in which, if the on-brane dimension has an acceptable size, it does not solve the hierarchy problem. In another example this problem is smo…
A braneworld model for neutrino Dark Energy (DE) is presented. We consider a five dimensional two-branes set up with a bulk scalar field motivated by supergravity. Its low-energy effective theory is derived with a moduli space approximation (MSA). The position of the two branes are parametrized by two scalar degrees of freedom (moduli). After detuning the brane tensions a classical potential for the moduli is generated. This potential is unstable for dS branes and we suggest to consider as a stabilizing contribution the Casimir energy of bulk fields. In particular we add a massive spinor (neut…
We construct the nonlocal braneworld action in the two-brane Randall-Sundrum model in a holographic setup alternative to Kaluza-Klein description: the action is written as a functional of the two metric and radion fields on the branes. This action effectively describes the dynamics of the gravitational field both on the branes and in the bulk in terms of the brane geometries directly accessible for observations. Its nonlocal form factors incorporate the cumulative effect of the bulk Kaluza-Klein modes. We also consider the reduced version of this action obtained by integrating out the fields o…
Static solutions with a bulk dilaton are derived in the context of six dimensional warped compactification. In the string frame, exponentially decreasing warp factors are identified with critical points of the low energy $β$-functions truncated at a given order in the string tension corrections. The stability of the critical points is discussed in the case of the first string tension correction. The singularity properties of the obtained solutions are analyzed and illustrative numerical examples are provided.
In this work we study a Horava-like five-dimensional model in the context of braneworld theory. To begin with, the equations of motion of such model are obtained and, within the realm of warped geometry, we show that the model is consistent if and only if $λ$ takes its relativistic value 1. Furthermore, since the first derivative of the warp factor is discontinuous over the branes, we show that the elimination of problematic terms involving the square of the warp factor second order derivatives are eliminated by imposing detailed balance condition in the bulk. Afterwards, the Israel's junction…
We consider solutions of six dimensional Einstein equations with two compact dimensions. It is shown that one can introduce 3-branes in this background in such a way that the effective four dimensional cosmological constant is completely independent of the brane tensions. These tensions are completely arbitrary, without requiring any fine tuning. We must, however, fine tune bulk parameters in order to obtain a sufficiently small value for the observable cosmological constant. We comment in the effective four dimensional description of this effect at energies below the compactification scale.
We compute the D0-brane tension in string field theory by representing it as a tachyon lump of the D1-brane compactified on a circle of radius $R$. To this aim, we calculate the lump solution in level truncation up to level L=8. The normalized D0-brane tension is independent on $R$. The compactification radius is therefore chosen in order to cancel the subleading correction $1/L^2$. We show that an optimal radius $R^*$ indeed exists and that at $R^*$ the theoretical prediction for the tension is reproduced at the level of $10^{-5}$. As a byproduct of our calculation we also discuss the determi…
We proposed a six dimensional string-like braneworld built from a warped product between a 3-brane and the Hamilton cigar soliton space, the string-cigar braneworld. This transverse manifold is a well-known steady solution of the Ricci flow equation that describes the evolution of a manifold. The resulting bulk is an interior and exterior metric for a thick string. This is a physical and feasible scenario since the source satisfies the dominant energy condition. It is possible to realize the geometric flow as a result of variations of the matter content of the brane, actually, as its tensions.…
