Numerical and observational evidence suggests that massive white dwarfs dominate the innermost regions of core-collapsed globular clusters by both number and total mass. Using NGC 6397 as a test case, we constrain the features of white dwarf populations in core-collapsed clusters, both at present day and throughout their lifetimes. The dynamics of these white dwarf subsystems have a number of astrophysical implications. We demonstrate that the collapse of globular cluster cores is ultimately halted by the dynamical burning of white dwarf binaries. We predict core-collapsed clusters in the local universe yield a white dwarf merger rate of $\mathcal{O}(10\rm{)\,Gpc}^{-3}\,\rm{yr}^{-1}$, roughly $0.1-1\%$ of the observed Type Ia supernova rate. We show that prior to merger, inspiraling white dwarf binaries will be observable as gravitational wave sources at milli- and decihertz frequencies. Over $90\%$ of these mergers have a total mass greater than the Chandrasekhar limit. If the merger/collision remnants are not destroyed completely in an explosive transient, we argue the remnants may be observed in core-collapsed clusters as either young neutron stars/pulsars/magnetars (in the event of accretion-induced collapse) or as young massive white dwarfs offset from the standard white dwarf cooling sequence. Finally, we show collisions between white dwarfs and main sequence stars, which may be detectable as bright transients, occur at a rate of $\mathcal{O}(100\rm{)\,Gpc}^{-3}\,\rm{yr}^{-1}$ in the local universe. We find that these collisions lead to depletion of blue straggler stars and main sequence star binaries in the centers of core-collapsed clusters.
We study the dynamical evolution of globular clusters using our Hénon-type Monte Carlo code for stellar dynamics including all relevant physics such as two-body relaxation, single and binary stellar evolution, Galactic tidal stripping, and strong interactions such as physical collisions and binary mediated scattering. We compute a large database of several hundred models starting from broad ranges of initial conditions guided by observations of young and massive star clusters. We show that these initial conditions very naturally lead to present day clusters with properties including the centra…
Dynamical evolution drives globular clusters toward core collapse, which strongly shapes their internal properties. Diagnostics of core collapse have so far been based on photometry only, namely on the study of the concentration of the density profiles. Here we present a new method to robustly identify core-collapsed clusters based on the study of their stellar kinematics. We introduce the \textit{kinematic concentration} parameter, $c_k$, the ratio between the global and local degree of energy equipartition reached by a cluster, and show through extensive direct $N$-body simulations that clus…
We have searched for optical identifications for 79 Chandra X-ray sources that lie within the half-mass radius of the nearby, core-collapsed globular cluster NGC 6397, using deep Hubble Space Telescope Advanced Camera for Surveys Wide Field Channel imaging in H-alpha, R, and B. Photometry of these images allows us to classify candidate counterparts based on color-magnitude diagram location. In addition to recovering nine previously detected cataclysmic variables (CVs), we have identified six additional faint CV candidates, a total of 42 active binaries (ABs), two millisecond pulsars (MSPs), on…
We employ Gaia DR2 proper motions for 151 Milky Way globular clusters from Vasiliev (2019) in tandem with distances and line-of-sight velocities to derive their kinematical properties. To assign clusters to the Milky Way thick disk, bulge, and halo we follow the approach of Posti et al. (2018) who distinguished among different Galactic stellar components using stars's orbits. In particular, we use the ratio $L_{z}/e$, the $Z$ projection of the angular momentum to the eccentricity, as population tracer, which we complement with chemical abundances extracted from the literature and Monte-Carlo s…
A catalog of Galactic globular clusters has been compiled and used to analyze relations between the chemical and kinematic parameters of the clusters. The catalog contains positions, distances, luminosities, metallicites, and horizontal-branch morphology indices for 157~globular clusters, as well as space velocities for 72~globular clusters. For 69~globular clusters, these data are suppleented with the relative abundances of 28~chemical elements produced in various nuclear-synthesis processes, taken from 101~papers published between 1986 and 2018. The tendency for redder horizontal branches in…
In this paper, we discuss how globular clusters (GCs) structural and observational properties can be used to infer the presence of a black hole system (BHS) inhabiting their inner regions. We propose a novel way to identify the BHS size, defined as the GC radius containing a mass contributed equally from stars and stellar BHs. Using this definition, similar to the well-known concept of "influence radius", we found a "fundamental plane" connecting the BHS typical density with the GC central surface density profile, total luminosity and observational half-mass radius. Our approach allows us to d…
Using modern published data on velocities and spectroscopic definitions of chemical elements in stellar objects of the Galaxy, we investigated the relationship of chemical composition with the kinematics of different populations. The paper shows that the old stellar populations of the Galaxy, belonging (by the kinematic criterion) to the thick disk subsystem---globular clusters, field variables of the type RR Lyrae (lyrids), as well as close F--G dwarfs and field giants, have different chemical composition. In particular, the dwarfs and giants of the field are on average more metallic than the…
We have searched for optical identifications for 39 Chandra X-ray sources that lie within the 1.9 arcmin half-mass radius of the nearby (d = 4.0 kpc), core-collapsed globular cluster, NGC 6752, using deep Hubble Space Telescope ACS/WFC imaging in B435, R625, and H alpha. Photometry of these images allows us to classify candidate counterparts based primarily on color-magnitude and color-color diagram location. The color-color diagram is particularly useful for quantifying the H alpha line equivalent width. In addition to recovering 11 previously detected optical counterparts, we propose 20 new …
This is the third paper of a series of our works on the self-similar orbit-averaged Fokker-Planck (OAFP) equation. The first paper provided an accurate spectral solution of the equation for isotropic pre-collapse star clusters and the second detailed the physical feature of the model. Based on the works, the present work applies the solution to the observed structural profiles of Galactic globular clusters. For fitting to the profiles, the most fundamental (quasi-)stationary model, the King model, and the variants have shown successful results while they can not apply to core-collapsing and co…
We have been investigating populations of cataclysmic variables (CVs) in a set of more than 300 globular cluster (GC) models evolved with the MOCCA code. One of the main questions we have intended to answer is whether most CVs in GCs are dynamically formed or not. Contrary to what has been argued for a long time, we found that dynamical destruction of primordial CV progenitors is much stronger in GCs than dynamical formation of CVs. In particular, we found that, on average, the detectable CV population is predominantly composed of CVs formed via a typical common envelope phase (> 70 per cent).…
A comprehensive statistical analysis of the relationship between the chemical and spatially kinematic parameters of the globular clusters of the Galaxy has been performed. The data of the author's compilation catalog contain astrophysical parameters for 157 clusters and the relative abundances of α-elements for 69 clusters. For 121 clusters, the data are supplemented by spatially kinematic parameters taken from the literature. The phenomenon of reddening of horizontal branches of low-metal accreted globular clusters is discussed. We consider the contradiction between the criteria for clusters …
We used a combination of high-resolution optical images acquired with the Hubble Space Telescope and near-IR wide-field data to investigate the stellar density profile and the population of blue straggler star (BSS) in the Galactic globular cluster NGC6256, with the aim of probing its current stage of internal dynamical evolution. We found that the inner stellar density profile significantly deviates from a King model while is well reproduced by a steep cusp with a power-law slope alpha=-0.89, thus implying that the cluster is currently in the post core-collapse (PCC) phase. This is also confi…
The discovery of multiple stellar populations in globular clusters raises fundamental questions concerning the formation and dynamical history of these systems. In a previous study aimed at exploring the formation of second-generation (SG) stars from the ejecta of first-generation (FG) AGB stars, and the subsequent dynamical evolution of the cluster, we showed that SG stars are expected to form in a dense subsystem concentrated in the inner regions of the FG cluster. In this paper we explore the implications of the structural properties of multiple-population clusters, and in particular the pr…
As ancient, gravitationally bound stellar populations, globular clusters are abundant, vibrant laboratories characterized by high frequencies of dynamical interactions coupled to complex stellar evolution. Using surface brightness and velocity dispersion profiles from the literature, we fit $59$ Milky Way globular clusters to dynamical models from the \texttt{CMC Cluster Catalog}. Without doing any interpolation, and without any directed effort to fit any particular cluster, $26$ globular clusters are well-matched by at least one of our models. We discuss in particular the core-collapsed clust…
The prospects for using the present-day data on metallicity of globular clusters (GCs) of the Galaxy to put constraints on the distance to the Galactic center, $R_0$, are considered. We have found that the GCs of the metal-rich and metal-poor subsystems separately form a bar-like structure in metallicity maps whose parameters are very close to those for the Galactic bar. The results indicate the existence of a bar component within both the metal-rich and metal-poor subsystems of GCs. The bar GCs could have formed within the already existing Galactic bar or could have later been locked in reson…
We present photometry for the globular cluster NGC 6642 using the F606W and F814W filters with the ACS/WFC third generation camera on board of Hubble Space Telescope. The Colour Magnitude Diagram shows sources reaching ~ 6 mags below the turn-off in m_F606W. A theoretical isochrone fitting was performed and evolutionary parameters were obtained, such as the metallicity [Fe/H] = -1.80 +/- 0.2 and age log(Age) = 10.14 +/- 0.05. We confirm that NGC 6642 is located in the Galactic bulge, with a distance to the Sun d_{\odot} = 8.05 +/- 0.66 ~ kpc$ and the reddening E(B-V) = 0.46 +/- 0.02. These val…
We analyse Gaia EDR3 and re-calibrated HST proper motion data from the core-collapsed and non core-collapsed globular clusters NGC 6397 and NGC 3201, respectively, with the Bayesian mass-orbit modelling code MAMPOSSt-PM. We use Bayesian evidence and realistic mock data sets constructed with AGAMA to select between different mass models. In both clusters, the velocities are consistent with isotropy within the extent of our data. We robustly detect a dark central mass (DCM) of roughly 1000 solar masses in both clusters. Our MAMPOSSt-PM fits strongly prefer an extended DCM in NGC 6397, while only…
Globular clusters (GCs) in the Milky Way exhibit a well-observed bimodal distribution in core radii separating the so-called "core-collapsed" and "non-core-collapsed" clusters. Here, we use our Hénon-type Monte Carlo code, CMC, to explore initial cluster parameters that map into this bimodality. Remarkably, we find that by varying the initial size of clusters (specified in our initial conditions in terms of the initial virial radius, $r_v$) within a relatively narrow range consistent with the measured radii of young star clusters in the local universe ($r_v \approx 0.5-5$ pc), our models repro…
We investigate here populations of cataclysmic variables (CVs) in a set of 288 globular cluster (GC) models evolved with the MOCCA code. This is by far the largest sample of GC models ever analysed with respect to CVs. Contrary to what has been argued for a long time, we found that dynamical destruction of primordial CV progenitors is much stronger in GCs than dynamical formation of CVs, and that dynamically formed CVs and CVs formed under no/weak influence of dynamics have similar white dwarf mass distributions. In addition, we found that, on average, the detectable CV population is predomina…
There have been increasing theoretical speculations and observational indications that certain globular clusters (GCs) could contain a sizeable population of stellar mass black holes (BHs). In this paper, we shortlist at least 29 Galactic GCs that could be hosting a subsystem of BHs (BHS). In a companion paper, we analysed results from a wide array of GC models (simulated with the MOCCA code for cluster simulations) that retained few tens to several hundreds of BHs at 12 Gyr and showed that the properties of the BHS in those GCs correlate with the GC's observable properties. Building on those …
The global properties of all known Galactic globular clusters are examined. The relationship between the luminosities and the metallicities of Galactic globular clusters is found to be complex. Among luminous clusters there is a correlation in the sense that the oldest clusters are slightly more metal deficient than are younger clusters. However, no such clear-cut relationship is found among the faintest globular clusters. The central concentration index C of globular clusters is seen to be independent of metallicity. The dependence of the half-light radii of globular clusters on their Galacto…
We present 22 new (+3 confirmed) cataclysmic variables (CVs) in the non core-collapsed globular cluster 47 Tucanae (47 Tuc). The total number of CVs in the cluster is now 43, the largest sample in any globular cluster so far. For the identifications we used near-ultraviolet (NUV) and optical images from the Hubble Space Telescope, in combination with X-ray results from the Chandra X-ray Observatory. This allowed us to build the deepest NUV CV luminosity function of the cluster to date. We found that the CVs in 47 Tuc are more concentrated towards the cluster center than the main sequence turno…
Machine learning is a powerful technique, becoming increasingly popular in astrophysics. In this paper, we apply machine learning to more than a thousand globular cluster (GC) models simulated as part of the 'MOCCA-Survey Database I' project in order to correlate present-day observable properties with the presence of a subsystem of stellar mass black holes (BHs). The machine learning model is then applied to available observed parameters for Galactic GCs to identify which of them that are most likely to be hosting a sizeable number of BHs and reveal insights into what properties lead to the fo…
We present orbits and their properties for 152 globular clusters of the Milky Way galaxy obtained using average Gaia DR2 proper motions and other astrometric data from the list of Vasiliev (2019). For orbit integrating we have used the axisymmetric model of the Galactic potential based on the Navarro-Frenk-White dark halo, and modified by Bajkova and Bobylev (2016) using circular velocities of Galactic objects in wide region of Galactocentric distances (up to 200 kpc) from Bhattacharjee et.al. (2014) catalog. Based on the analysis of the obtained orbits, we have modified the composition of the…
The optical colors of globular clusters (GCs) in most large early-type galaxies are bimodal. Blue and red GCs show a sharp difference in the radial profile of their surface number density in the sense that red GCs are more centrally concentrated than blue GCs. An instant interpretation is that there exist two distinct GC subsystems having different radial distributions. This view, however, was challenged by a scenario in which, due to the nonlinear nature of the GC metallicity-to-color transformation for old ($\gtrsim$10 Gyr) GCs, a broad unimodal metallicity spread can exhibit a bimodal color…
We analyze line-of-sight velocity and proper motion data of stars in the Galactic globular cluster M15 using a new method to fit dynamical models to discrete kinematic data. Our fitting method maximizes the likelihood for individual stars and, as such, does not suffer the same loss of spatial and velocity information incurred when spatially binning data or measuring velocity moments. In this paper, we show that the radial variation in M15 of the mass-to-light ratio is consistent with previous estimates and theoretical predictions, which verifies our method. Our best-fitting axisymmetric Jeans …
In order to investigate the origin of multiple stellar populations in the halo and bulge of the Milky Way, we have constructed chemical evolution models for the low-mass proto-Galactic subsystems such as globular clusters (GCs). Unlike previous studies, we assume that supernova blast waves undergo blowout without expelling the pre-enriched gas, while relatively slow winds of massive stars (WMS), together with the winds and ejecta from low and intermediate mass asymptotic-giant-branch stars (AGBs), are all locally retained in these less massive systems. We find that the observed Na-O anti-corre…
We explore a scenario where metal poor globular clusters (GCs) form at the centres of their own dark matter halos in the early universe before reionization. This hypothesis leads to predictions about the abundance, distribution and kinematics of GCs today that we explore using cosmological N-body simulations and analytical modelling. We find that selecting the massive tail of collapsed objects at $z\gtrsim 9$ as GC formation sites leads to four main predictions: i) a highly clustered population of GCs around galaxies today, ii) a natural scaling between number of GCs and halo virial mass that …
We analyze proper motions from the Hubble Space Telescope (HST) and the second Gaia data release along with line-of-sight velocities from the MUSE spectrograph to detect imprints of an intermediate-mass black hole (IMBH) in the center of the nearby, core-collapsed, globular cluster NGC 6397. For this, we use the new MAMPOSSt-PM Bayesian mass-modeling code, along with updated estimates of the surface density profile of NGC 6397. We consider different priors on velocity anisotropy and on the size of the central mass, and we also separate the stars into components of different mean mass to allow …
Introducing the DRAGON simulation project, we present direct $N$-body simulations of four massive globular clusters (GCs) with $10^6$ stars and 5$\%$ primordial binaries at a high level of accuracy and realism. The GC evolution is computed with NBODY6++GPU and follows the dynamical and stellar evolution of individual stars and binaries, kicks of neutron stars and black holes, and the effect of a tidal field. We investigate the evolution of the luminous (stellar) and dark (faint stars and stellar remnants) GC components and create mock observations of the simulations (i.e. photometry, color-mag…
We report results on the kinematics of Milky Way (MW) globular clusters (GCs) based on updated space velocities for nearly the entire GC population. We found that a 3D space with the semi-major axis, the eccentricity and the inclination of the orbit with respect to the MW plane as its axes is helpful in order to dig into the formation of the GC system. We find that GCs formed in-situ show a clear correlation between their eccentricities and their orbital inclination in the sense that clusters with large eccentricities also have large inclinations. These GCs also show a correlation between thei…
We investigate the formation of metal-poor globular clusters (GCs) at the center of two dark matter halos with $M_{\rm halo} \sim4\times10^7 M_\odot$ at $z>10$ using cosmological radiation-hydrodynamics simulations. We find that very compact ($\lesssim$ 1 pc) and massive ($\sim6\times10^5 M_\odot$) clusters form rapidly when pristine gas collapses isothermally with the aid of efficient Ly$α$ emission during the transition from molecular-cooling halos to atomic-cooling halos. Because the local free-fall time of dense star-forming gas is very short ($\ll 1\,{\rm Myr}$), a large fraction of the c…
Recent spectroscopy on the globular cluster (GC) system of M31 with unprecedented precision witnessed a clear bimodality in absorption-line index distributions of old GCs. Such division of extragalactic GCs, so far asserted mainly by photometric color bimodality, has been viewed as the presence of merely two distinct metallicity subgroups within individual galaxies and forms a critical backbone of various galaxy formation theories. Given that spectroscopy is a more detailed probe into stellar population than photometry, the discovery of index bimodality may point to the very existence of dual …
This study constitutes part of a larger effort aimed at better characterizing the Galactic globular clusters (GGCs) located towards the inner Milky Way bulge and disk. Here, we focus on internal kinematics of nine GGCs, obtained from space-based imaging over time baselines of $>$9 years. We exploit multiple avenues to assess the dynamical state of the target GGCs, constructing radial profiles of projected stellar density, proper motion dispersion, and anisotropy. We posit that two-thirds (6/9) of our target GGCs are in an advanced dynamical state, and are close to (or have recently undergone) …
The high stellar densities in the cores of globular clusters cause significant stellar interactions. These stellar interactions can produce close binary mass-transferring systems involving compact objects and their progeny, such as X-ray binaries and radio millisecond pulsars. Comparing the numbers of these systems and interaction rates in different clusters drives our understanding of how cluster parameters affect the production of close binaries. In this paper we estimate stellar encounter rates (Gamma) for 124 Galactic globular clusters based on observational data as opposed to the methods …

By means of grid-based, 3D hydrodynamical simulations we study the formation of second generation (SG) stars in a young globular cluster (GC) of mass 10^7 Msun, the possible progenitor of an old GC with a present mass ~(1-5) * 10^6 Msun. The cluster accretes external gas as its first generation (FG) asymptotic giant branch (AGB) stars release their ejecta and SG stars form. We consider two models characterised by different densities of the external gas. In both cases, we find that a very compact SG subsystem with central density >10^5M sun/pc^3 forms in the innermost regions of the cluster. Th…
Spectroscopic and photometric observations show that many globular clusters host multiple stellar populations, challenging the common paradigm that globular clusters are "simple stellar populations" composed of stars of uniform age and chemical composition. The chemical abundances of second-generation (SG) stars constrain the sources of gas out of which these stars must have formed, indicating that the gas must contain matter processed through the high-temperature CNO cycle. First-generation massive Asymptotic Giant Branch (AGB) stars have been proposed as the source of this gas. In a previous…
Recent observational evidence, numerical simulations and theoretical arguments seem to indicate that stellar mass black holes (BH) persist in stellar systems such as globular star clusters for much longer than previously thought. Previously, theory implied that the BH would segregate into a compact system with short dynamical time scales, and that the BH would escape long before the present. But stellar systems can exist in a state of balanced evolution, where the energy generated in the core is regulated by the process of two-body relaxation in the bulk of the system. If the system has a cent…
In order to investigate the origin of multiple stellar populations found in globular clusters (GCs) in the halo and bulge of the Milky Way, we have constructed chemical evolution models for their putative low-mass progenitors. In light of recent theoretical developments, we assume that supernova blast waves undergo blowout without expelling the pre-enriched ambient gas, while relatively slow winds of massive stars, together with the winds and ejecta from low to high mass asymptotic-giant-branch stars, are all locally retained in these less massive systems. Interestingly, we find that the obser…
As self-gravitating systems, dense star clusters exhibit a natural diffusion of energy from their innermost to outermost regions, which leads to a slow and steady contraction of the core until it ultimately collapses under gravity. However, in spite of the natural tendency toward so-called "core collapse," the globular clusters (GCs) in the Milky Way exhibit a well-observed bimodal distribution in core radii separating the core-collapsed and non-core-collapsed clusters. This suggests an internal energy source is at work, delaying the onset of core collapse in many clusters. Primordial binary s…

We report on results of fully consistent N-body simulations of globular cluster models with N = 100 000 members containing neutron stars and black holes. Using the improved `algorithmic regularization' method of Hellstrom and Mikkola for compact subsystems, the new code NBODY7 enables for the first time general relativistic coalescence to be achieved for post-Newtonian terms and realistic parameters. Following an early stage of mass segregation, a few black holes form a small dense core which usually leads to the formation of one dominant binary. The subsequent evolution by dynamical shrinkage…
We present an improved data-reduction technique to obtain high-precision proper motions (PMs) of globular clusters using Hubble Space Telescope data. The new reduction is superior to the one presented in the first paper of this series for the faintest sources in very crowded fields. We choose the globular cluster NGC 362 as a benchmark to test our new procedures. We measure PMs of 117 450 sources in the field, showing that we are able to obtain a PM precision better than 10 $μ$as yr$^{-1}$ for bright stars. We make use of this new PM catalog of NGC 362 to study the cluster's internal kinematic…
In this work, we investigate the black hole (BH) population of globular clusters (GCs) in Milky Way- (MW) and Andromeda- (M31) like galaxies. We combine the population synthesis code MASinGa and the MOCCA-Survey Database I to infer the properties of GCs harbouring a BH subsystem (BHS), an IMBH, or neither of those. We find that the typical number of GCs with a BHS, an IMBH, or none become comparable in the galactic outskirts, whilst the inner galactic regions are dominated by GCs without a significant dark component. Our models suggest that GCs harbouring a BHS are slightly heavier and with la…
Color distributions of globular clusters (GCs) in most massive galaxies are bimodal. Assuming linear color-to-metallicity conversions, bimodality is viewed as the presence of merely two GC subsystems with distinct metallicities, which serves as a critical backbone of various galaxy formation theories. Recent studies, however, revealed that the color-metallicity relations (CMRs) often used to derive GC metallicities (e.g., CMRs of g-z, V-I and C-T1) are in fact inflected. Such inflection can create bimodal color distributions if the underlying GC metallicity spread is simply broad as expected f…
We explore the relation between the total globular cluster population in a galaxy (N_GC) and the the mass of its central black hole (M_BH). Using a sample of 33 galaxies, twice as large as the original sample discussed by Burkert & Tremaine (2010), we find that N_GC for elliptical and spiral galaxies increases in almost precisely direct proportion to M_BH. The S0-type galaxies by contrast do not follow a clear trend, showing large scatter in M_BH at a given N_GC. After accounting for observational measurement uncertainty, we find that the mean relation defined by the E and S galaxies must also…
There is increasing evidence that globular clusters retain sizeable black hole populations at present day. This is supported by dynamical simulations of cluster evolution, which have unveiled the spatial distribution and mass spectrum of black holes in clusters across cosmic age. However, black hole populations of young, high metallicity clusters remain unconstrained. Black holes hosted by these clusters mass segregate early in their evolutionary history, forming central subsystems of hundreds to thousands of black holes. We argue that after supernova feedback has subsided ($\gtrsim 50\,{\rm M…
By means of 3D hydrodynamic simulations, we explore the effects of rotation in the formation of second-generation (SG) stars in globular clusters (GC). Our simulations follow the SG formation in a first-generation (FG) internally rotating GC; SG stars form out of FG asymptotic giant branch (AGB) ejecta and external pristine gas accreted by the system. We have explored two different initial rotational velocity profiles for the FG cluster and two different inclinations of the rotational axis with respect to the direction of motion of the external infalling gas, whose density has also been varied…
(Abridged) Proxies for the stellar collision rates in globular clusters are often used. We present comparisons between these proxies and the full integrated collision rate for King models. Gamma, defined to be rho_0^3/2 r_c^2$, where $ρ_0$ is the central cluster density, and r_c is the core radius, is an accurate representation of the collision rate from the King model to within about 25% for all but the least concentrated clusters. Gamma_h, defined to be rho_h^3/2 r_h^2, where rho_h is the average density within the half-light radius, and $r_h$ is the half-light radius, is only marginally bet…
Using X-ray sources as sensitive probes of stellar dynamical interactions in globular clusters (GCs), we study the mass segregation and binary burning processes in $ω$ Cen. We show that the mass segregation of X-ray sources is quenched in $ω$ Cen, while the X-ray source abundance of $ω$ Cen is much smaller than other GCs, and the binary hardness ratio (defined as $L_{\rm X}/(L_{\rm K}f_{b})$, with $f_{b}$ the binary fraction, $L_{\rm X}$ and $L_{\rm K}$ the cumulative X-ray and K band luminosity of GCs, respectively) of $ω$ Cen is located far below the $L_{\rm X}/(L_{\rm K}f_{b})-σ_{c}$ correl…

In this paper we explore the interplay between intermediate-mass black holes (IMBHs) and their nursing globular clusters (GCs), taking advantage of over 2000 Monte Carlo GC models. We find that the average density of IMBHs sphere of influence can be uniquely connected to the host GCs luminosity and half-light radius via a fundamental plane. We propose a statistical approach to systematically identify potential Galactic GCs harbouring either an IMBH or a massive subsystem comprised of stellar BHs. Our models show that the IMBH is often bound to a stellar companion or a stellar BH, which can lea…
