We are interested in cell properties of translations in affine Weyl groups. We find out some translations in the second lowest two-sided cell of an affine Weyl group and use the translations to formulate a refinement of Jianyi Shi's conjecture on the number of left cells in the second lowest two-sided cell. We verify the refinement for an affine Weyl group of type $\tilde A_{n-1}$ and type $\tilde G_2$.
We compute the based rings of two-sided cells corresponding to the unipotent classes in $Sp_6(\mathbb C)$ with Jordan blocks (33), (411), (222) respectively. The results for the first two two-sided cells also verify Lusztig's conjecture on the structure of the based rings of two-sided cells of an affine Weyl group. The result for the last two-sided cell partially suggests a modification of Lusztig's conjecture on the structure of the based rings of two-sided cells of an affine Weyl group.
We compute the based rings of two-sided cells corresponding to the unipotent class in $Sp_6(\mathbb C)$ with Jordan blocks (2211). The results also verify Lusztig's conjecture on the structure of the based rings of the two-sided cells of an affine Weyl group.
For type $\tilde B_3$ we show that Lusztig's conjecture on the structure of the based ring of two-sided cell corresponding to the unipotent class in $Sp_6(\mathbb C)$ with 3 equal Jordan blocks needs modified.
Bremke and Xi determined the lowest two-sided cell for affine Weyl groups with unequal parameters and showed that it consists of at most |W_{0}| left cells where W_{0} is the associated finite Weyl group. We prove that this bound is exact. Previously, this was known in the equal parameter case and when the parameters were coming from a graph automorphism. Our argument uniformly works for any choice of parameters.
We show that Lusztig's homomorphism from an affine Hecke algebra to the direct summand of its asymptotic Hecke algebra corresponding to the lowest two-sided cell is related to the homomorphism constructed by Chriss and Ginzburg using equivariant K-theory by a matrix over the representation ring of the associated algebraic group.
In this paper, we give precise description for the lowest lowest two-sided cell c_{0} and the left cells in it for a weighted Coxeter group of rank 3. Then we show conjectures P1-P15 and \widetilde{P} hold for c_{0} and do some calculation for the based ring of c_{0}.
Let $\mathbf{c}_0$ be the lowest generalized two-sided cell of an extended affine Weyl group W. We determine the structure of the based ring of $\mathbf{c}_0$. For this we show that certain conjectures of Lusztig on generalized cells (called P1-P15) hold for $\mathbf{c}_0$. As an application, we use the structure of the based ring to study certain simple modules of Hecke algebras of $ W $ with unequal parameters, namely those attached to $\mathbf{c}_0$. Also we give a set of prime ideals $\mathfrak{p}$ of the center $\mathcal{Z}$ of the generic affine Hecke algebra $\mathcal{H}$ such that the …
In this paper we show that the lowest two-sided ideal of an affine Hecke algebra is affine cellular for all choices of parameters. We explicitely describe the cellular basis and we show that the basis elements have a nice decomposition when expressed in the Kazhdan-Lusztig basis. In type $A$ we provide a combinatorial description of this decomposition in term of number of paths.
We compute two-sided cells of Weyl groups of type $B$ for the "asymptotic" choice of parameters. We also obtain some partial results concerning Kazhdan-Lusztig conjectures in this particular case.
Using truncated convolution of perverse sheaves on a flag variety Lusztig associated a monoidal category to a two sided cell in the Weyl group. We identify this category in the case which was not decided previously.
To a Coxeter system $(W,S)$ (with $S$ finite) and a weight function $L : W \to \NM$ is associated a partition of $W$ into Kazhdan-Lusztig (left, right or two-sided) $L$-cells. Let $S^\circ = \{s \in S | L(s)=0\}$, $S^+=\{s \in S | L(s) > 0\}$ and let $C$ be a Kazhdan-Lusztig (left, right or two-sided) $L$-cell. According to the semicontinuity conjecture of the first author, there should exist a positive natural number $m$ such that, for any weight function $L' : W \to \NM$ such that $L(s^+)=L'(s^+) > m L'(s^\circ)$ for all $s^+ \in S^+$ and $s^\circ \in S^\circ$, $C$ is a union of Kazhdan-Lusz…
This paper studies the Kazhdan-Lusztig coefficients $μ(u,w)$ of the Kazhdan-Lusztig polynomials $P_{u,w}$ for the lowest cell ${c_{0}}$ of an affine Weyl group of type $\widetilde{G_{2}}$ and gives an estimation $μ(u,w)\leqslant 3$ for $u,w\in c_{0}$.
Let G be a connected reductive group. We define a map from the set of unipotent classes in G to the set of conjugacy classes in the Weyl group (assuming that the characteristic is not bad). This map is a one sided inverse of a map in the opposite direction constructed in an earlier paper.
We classify the simple modules for the rational Cherednik algebra that are irreducible when restricted to W, in the case when W is a finite Weyl group. The classification turns out to be closely related to the cuspidal two-sided cells in the sense of Lusztig. We compute the Dirac cohomology of these modules and use the tools of Dirac theory to find nontrivial relations between the cuspidal Calogero-Moser cells and the cuspidal two-sided cells.
Distinguished involutions in the affine Weyl groups, defined by G. Lusztig, play an essential role in the Kazhdan-Lusztig combinatorics of these groups. A distinguished involution is called canonical if it is the shortest element in its double coset with respect to the finite Weyl group. Each two-sided cell in the affine Weyl group contains precisely one canonical distinguished involution. In this note we calculate the canonical distinguished involutions in the affine Weyl groups of rank <8. We also prove some partial results relating canonical distinguished involutions and Dynkin's diagrams o…
Let W~ be an affine Weyl group, and let C be a left, right, or two-sided Kazhdan--Lusztig cell in W~. Let Reduced (C) be the set of all reduced expressions of elements of C, regarded as a formal language in the sense of the theory of computation. We show that Reduced (C) is a regular language. Hence the reduced expressions of the elements in any Kazhdan--Lusztig cell can be enumerated by a finite state automaton.
Let G be a connected reductive group over an algebraically closed field of characteristic p. In an earlier paper we defined a surjective map Φ_p from the set \underline{W} of conjugacy classes in the Weyl group W to the set of unipotent classes in G. Here we prove three results about Φ_p. First we show that Φ_p has a canonical one sided inverse. Next we show that Φ_0 =rΦ_p for a unique map r. Finally we construct a natural surjective map from \underline{W} to the set of special representations of W which is the composition of Φ_0 with another natural map; we show that this map depends only on …
An affine Hecke algebras can be realized as an equivariant K-group of the corresponding Steinberg variety. This gives rise naturally to some two-sided ideals of the affine Hecke algebra by means of the closures of nilpotent orbits of the corresponding Lie algebra. In this paper we will show that the two-sided ideals are in fact the two-sided ideals of the affine Hecke algebra defined through two-sided cells of the corresponding affine Weyl group after the two-sided ideals are tensored by rational numbers field. This proves a weak form of a conjecture of Ginzburg proposed in 1987.
The Demazure product gives a natural monoid structure on any Coxeter group. Such structure occurs naturally in many different areas in Lie Theory. This paper studies the Demazure product of an extended affine Weyl group $\tilde W$. The main discovery is a close connection between the Demazure product of an extended affine Weyl group and the quantum Bruhat graph of the finite Weyl group. As applications, we obtain explicit formulas on the generic Newton points and the Demazure products of elements in the lowest two-sided cell/shrunken Weyl chambers of $\tilde W$, and obtain an explicit formula …
We define a map from the unipotent representations of a split semisimple group over a finite field to (essentially) the set of pairs of left cells representations of the Weyl group in the same two-sided cell. We use this map to parametrize the unipotent representations.
Let \H_r be the generic type A Hecke algebra defined over \ZZ[u, u^{-1}]. The Kazhdan-Lusztig bases \{C_w\}_{w \in §_r} and \{C'_w\}_{w \in §_r} of \H_r give rise to two different bases of the Specht module M_λ, λ\vdash r, of \H_r. These bases are not equivalent and we show that the transition matrix S(λ) between the two is the identity at u = 0 and u = \infty. To prove this, we first prove a similar property for the transition matrices \tilde{T}, \tilde{T}' between the Kazhdan-Lusztig bases and their projected counterparts \{\tilde{C}_w\}_{w \in §_r}, \{\tilde{C}'_w\}_{w \in §_r}, where \tild…
We prove a conjecture by Lusztig, which describes the tensor categories of perverse sheaves on affine flag manifolds, with tensor structure provided by truncated convolution, in terms of the Langlands dual group. We also give a geometric (categorical) description of Lusztig's bijection between two-sided cells in an affine Weyl group, and unipotent conjugacy classes in the Langlands dual group. The main tool is the sheaf-theoretic construction of the center of the affine Hecke algebra due to Gaitsgory (based on ideas of Beilinson and Kottwitz), see math.AG/9912074.
Let G be a semisimple algebraic group over an algebraically closed field of characteristic p>0, and let g be its Lie algebra. The crucial Lie algebra representations to understand are those associated with the reduced enveloping algebra U_chi(g) for a nilpotent chi in g*. We conjecture that there is a natural assignment of simple modules in a regular block to left cells in the affine Weyl group (for the dual root system) lying in the two-sided cell which corresponds to the orbit of chi in Lusztig's bijection. This should respect the action of the component group of C_G(chi) and fit naturally i…
We consider an involution on the affine Weyl group of type $A$ induced from the nontrivial automorphism on the (finite) Dynkin diagram. We prove that the number of left cells fixed by this involution in each two-sided cell is given by a certain Green polynomial of type $A$ evaluated at -1.
Following Lusztig, we consider a Coxeter group $W$ together with a weight function. Geck showed that the Kazhdan-Lusztig cells of $W$ are compatible with parabolic subgroups. In this paper, we generalize this argument to some subsets of $W$ which may not be parabolic subgroups. We obtain two applications: we show that under specific technical conditions on the parameters, the cells of a certain finite parabolic subgroup of $W$ are cells in the whole group, and we decompose the affine Weyl group $\tilde{G}_{2}$ into left and two-sided cells for a whole class of weight functions.
The lowest two-sided cell of the extended affine Weyl group $W_e$ is the set $\{w \in W_e: w = x \cdot w_0 \cdot z, \text{for some} x,z \in W_e\}$, denoted $W_{(ν)}$. We prove that for any $w \in W_{(ν)}$, the canonical basis element $\C_w$ can be expressed as $\frac{1}{[n]!} χ_λ({\y}) \C_{v_1 w_0} \C_{w_0 v_2}$, where $χ_λ({\y})$ is the character of the irreducible representation of highest weight $λ$ in the Bernstein generators, and $v_1$ and $v_2^{-1}$ are what we call primitive elements. Primitive elements are naturally in bijection with elements of the finite Weyl group $W_f \subseteq W_e…
In his theory of unipotent characters of finite groups of Lie type, Lusztig constructed modular categories from two-sided cells in Weyl groups. Broué,Malle and Michel have extended parts of Lusztig's theory to complex reflection groups. This includes generalizations of the corresponding fusion algebras, although the presence of negative structure constants prevents them from arising from modular categories. We give here the first construction of braided pivotal monoidal categories associated with non-real reflection groups (later reinterpreted by Lacabanne as super modular categories). They ar…
We show that the convolution algebra $K^G(\mathcal{B} \times \mathcal{B})$ is isomorphic to the Based ring of the lowest two-sided cell of the extended affine Weyl group associated to $G$, where $G$ is a connected reductive algebraic group over the field $\mathbb{C}$ of complex numbers and $\mathcal{B}$ is the flag variety of $G$.
