By studying an explicit form of the Eichler--Shimura map for ${\rm GL}_3$, we describe a precise relation between critical values of the complete $L$-function for the Rankin--Selberg convolution ${\rm GL}_3 \times {\rm GL}_2$ and the cohomological cup product of certain rational cohomology classes which are uniquely determined up to rational scalar multiples from the cuspidal automorphic representations under consideration. This refines rationality results on critical values due to Raghuram et al.
We compute the Archimedean doubling zeta integrals which appear in the interpolation formulas for the p-adic L-functions of Siegel modular forms, and verify that they agree with the modified Archimedean Euler factors for p-adic interpolation conjectured by Coates--Perrin-Riou.
In this article we introduce a new type of local zeta functions and study some connections with pseudodifferential operators in the framework of non-Archimedean fields. The new local zeta functions are defined by integrating complex powers of norms of polynomials multiplied by infinitely pseudo-differentiable functions. In characteristic zero, the new local zeta functions admit meromorphic continuations to the whole complex plane, but they are not rational functions. The real parts of the possible poles have a description similar to the poles of Archimedean zeta functions. But they can be irra…
In this article, we give explicit formulas of archimedean Whittaker functions on $GL(3)$ and $GL(2)$. Moreover, we apply those to the calculation of archimedean zeta integrals for $GL(3)\times GL(2)$, and show that the zeta integral for appropriate Whittaker functions is equal to the associated $L$-factors.
In this paper, we evaluate archimedean zeta integrals for automorphic $L$-functions on $GL_n \times GL_{n-1+\ell}$ and on $ SO_{2n+1} \times GL_{n+\ell}$, for $\ell=-1$, $0$, and $1$. In each of these cases, the zeta integrals in question may be expressed as Mellin transforms of products of class one Whittaker functions. Here, we obtain explicit expressions for these Mellin transforms in terms of Gamma functions and Barnes integrals.
In this article, we study local zeta functions over non-Archimedean locals fields of arbitrary characteristic attached to rational functions and characters $χ$ of the units of the ring of integers $\mathcal{O}_{K}$, by using an approach based on the multivariate $π$-adic stationary phase formula and Newton polyhedra. When the rational function is non-degenerate with respect to its Newton polyhedron, we give an explicit formula for the local zeta function and a list of the possible poles in terms of the normal vectors of the supporting hyperplanes of the Newton polyhedron attached to the ration…
A Riemmanian foliated dynamical system of 3-dimension $(\mathrm{RFDS}^{3})$ is a closed Riemannian 3-manifold with additional structures: foliation, dynamical system. In the context of arithmetic topology, it is a geometric/analytic analogue of an arithmetic scheme with a conjectural dynamical system suggested by C. Deninger. In this paper, we show leafwise cohomological expression of dynamical zeta function on a Riemannian foliated dynamical system.
The standard $L$-functions of $\mathrm{GL}_{2n}$ expressed in terms of the Friedberg-Jacquet global zeta integrals have better structure for arithmetic applications, due to the relation of the linear periods with the modular symbols. The most technical obstacles towards such arithmetic applications are (1) non-vanishing of modular symbols at infinity and (2) the existance or construction of uniform cohomological test vectors. Problem (1) is also called the non-vanishing hypothesis at infinity, which was proved by Binyong Sun, by establishing the existence of certain cohomological test vectors.…
We introduce an integral version of the Eisenstein cocycle. As applications we prove a conjecture of Gross regarding the "order of vanishing" of Stickelberger elements relative to an abelian tower of fields and give a cohomological construction of the conjectural Gross--Stark units.
Let F be a local non-archimedean field. We prove a formula relating orbital integrals in GL(n,F) (for the unit Hecke function) and the generating series counting ideals of a certain ring. Using this formula, we give an explicit estimate for such orbital integrals. We also derive an analogous formula for global fields, proving analytic properties of the Dedekind zeta function for orders in global fields.
Let K/k be an Abelian extension of number fields, S be a set of places of k, and p be an odd prime number. We continue an earlier investigation of the author into the values at zero of the S-imprimitive partial zeta functions of K/k. An earlier result provides, under the assumption that the p-power roots of unity in K are cohomologically trivial, a criterion for the values to have larger than expected p-valuation. The present paper provides such a criterion for a special class of degree 2p extensions for which the p-power roots of unity are not cohomologically trivial. For such extensions, new…
Archimedean cohomology provides a cohomological interpretation for the calculation of the local L-factors at archimedean places as zeta regularized determinant of a log of Frobenius. In this paper we investigate further the properties of the Lefschetz and log of monodromy operators on this cohomology. We use the Connes-Kreimer formalism of renormalization to obtain a fuchsian connection whose residue is the log of the monodromy. We also present a dictionary of analogies between the geometry of a tubular neighborhood of the ``fiber at arithmetic infinity'' of an arithmetic variety and the compl…
While the existence of a unique Kähler-Einstein metric on a canonically polarized manifold X was established by Aubin and Yau already in the 70s there are only a few explicit formulas available. In previous work a probabilistic construction of the Kähler-Einstein metric was introduced - involving canonical random point processes on X - which yields canonical approximations of the Kähler-Einstein metric, expressed as explicit period integrals over a large number of products of X. Here it is shown that the conjectural extension to the case when X is a Fano variety suggests a zero-free property o…
We formulate an analogue of the archimedean motivic action conjecture of Prasanna--Venkatesh for irregular cohomological automorphic forms on Shimura varieties, which appear on multiple degrees of coherent cohomology of Shimura varieties. Such multiple appearances are due to many infinity types in a single $L$-packet with equal minimal $K$-types. Accordingly, we formulate the conjecture comparing periods of forms of different automorphic representations. We provide evidences for the conjecture by showing its compatibility with existing conjectures on periods of automorphic forms. The conjectur…

Using work of Antieau and Bhatt-Morrow-Scholze, we define a filtration on topological Hochschild homology and its variants $TP$ and $TC^-$ of quasi-lci rings with bounded torsion, which recovers the BMS-filtration after $p$-adic completion. Then we compute the graded pieces of this filtration in terms of Hodge completed derived de Rham cohomology relative to the base ring $\mathbb{Z}$. We denote the cofiber of the canonical map from $\mathrm{gr}^{n}TC^-(-)$ to $\mathrm{gr}^{n}TP(-)$ by $LΩ^{<n}_{-/\mathbb{S}}[2n]$. Let $\mathcal{X}$ be a regular connected scheme of dimension $d$ proper over $\…
We explicitly construct cusp forms on the orthogonal group of signature $(1,8n+1)$ for an arbitrary natural number $n$ as liftings from Maass cusp forms of level one. In our previous works, the fundamental tool to show the automorphy of the lifting was the converse theorem by Maass. In this paper, we use the Fourier expansion of the theta lifts by Borcherds instead. We also study cuspidal representations generated by such cusp forms and show that they are irreducible and that all of their non-archimedean local components are non-tempered while the archimedean component is tempered, if the Maas…
The aim of this contribution is to bring together the areas of $p$-adic analysis and nonstandard analysis. We develop a nonstandard measure theory with values in a complete non-Archimedean valued field $K$, e.g. the $p-$adic numbers $\mathbb{Q}_p$. The corresponding theory for real-valued measures is well known by the work of P. A. Loeb, R. M. Anderson and others. We first review some of the standard facts on non-Archimedean measures and briefly sketch the prerequisites from nonstandard analysis. Then internal measures on rings and algebras with values in a nonstandard field ${^*K}$ are introd…
The algebraicity of critical values of triple product $L$-functions in the balanced case was proved by Garrett and Harris, under the assumption that the critical points are on the right and away from center of the critical strip. The missing right-half critical points correspond to certain holomorphic Eisenstein series outside the range of absolute convergence. The remaining difficulties are construction of these holomorphic Eisenstein series and verification of the non-vanishing of the corresponding non-archimedean local zeta integrals. In this paper, we address these problems and complement …
The purpose of this partly expository paper is to give an introduction to modular forms on $G_2$. We do this by focusing on two aspects of $G_2$ modular forms. First, we discuss the Fourier expansion of modular forms, following work of Gan-Gross-Savin and the author. Then, following Gurevich-Segal and Segal, we discuss a Rankin-Selberg integral yielding the standard $L$-function of modular forms on $G_2$. As a corollary of the analysis of this Rankin-Selberg integral, one obtains a Dirichlet series for the standard $L$-function of $G_2$ modular forms; this involves the arithmetic invariant the…
Let $π$ and $τ$ be a smooth generic representation of ${\rm SO}_5$ and ${\rm GL}_2$ respectively over a non-archimedean local field. Assume that $π$ is irreducible and $τ$ is irreducible or induced of Langlands' type. We show that the $L$- and $ε$-factors attached to $π\timesτ$ defined by the Rankin-Selberg integrals and the associated Weil-Deligne representation coincide. Similar compatibility results are also obtained for the local factors defined by the Novodvorsky's local zeta integrals attached to generic representations of ${\rm GSp}_4\times{\rm GL}_2$.
We prove explicit rationality-results for Asai- $L$-functions, $L^S(s,Π',{\rm As}^\pm)$, and Rankin-Selberg $L$-functions, $L^S(s,Π\timesΠ')$, over arbitrary CM-fields $F$, relating critical values to explicit powers of $(2πi)$. Besides determining the contribution of archimedean zeta-integrals to our formulas as concrete powers of $(2πi)$, it is one of the advantages of our approach, that it applies to very general non-cuspidal isobaric automorphic representations $Π'$ of ${\rm GL}_n(\mathbb A_F)$. As an application, this enables us to establish a certain algebraic version of the Gan--Gross--…
We study a single-valued integration pairing between differential forms and dual differential forms which subsumes some classical constructions in mathematics and physics. It can be interpreted as a $p$-adic period pairing at the infinite prime. The single-valued integration pairing is defined by transporting the action of complex conjugation from singular to de Rham cohomology via the comparison isomorphism. We show how quite general families of period integrals admit canonical single-valued versions and prove some general formulas for them. This implies an elementary 'double copy' formula ex…
