The gravitino problem is investigated in the framework of Extended Gravity cosmologies. In particular, we consider $f(R)$ gravity, the most natural extension of the Hilbert-Einstein action, and $f(\cal T)$ gravity, the extension of teleparallel equivalent gravity. Since in these theories the expansion laws of the Universe are modified, as compared to the standard $Λ$CDM cosmology, it follows that also the thermal history of particles gets modified. We show that $f(R)$ models allow to avoid the late abundance of gravitinos. In particular, we found that for an appropriate choice of the parameters characterizing the $f(R)$ model, the gravitino abundance turns out to be independent of the reheating temperature. A similar behavior is achieved also in the context of $f(\cal T)$ gravity. In this perspective, we can conclude that geometric corrections to standard General Relativity (and to Teleparallel Equivalent of General Relativity) can improve shortcomings both in cosmology and in unified theories beyond the Standard Model of particles.
We show that bouncing open or flat Friedmann-Robertson-Walker cosmologies are inconsistent with worldsheet string theory to first approximation. Specifically, the Virasoro constraint translates to the null energy condition in spacetime at leading order in the alpha-prime expansion. Thus one must go beyond minimally-coupled Einstein gravity in order to find bounce solutions.
Adopting Noether point symmetries, we classify and integrate dynamical systems coming from Horndeski cosmologies. The method is particularly effective both to select the form of Horndeski models and to derive exact cosmological solutions. Starting from the Lagrangians selected by the Noether symmetries, it is possible to derive several modified theories of gravity like $f(R)$ gravity, Brans-Dicke gravity, string inspired gravity and so on. In any case, exact solutions are found out.
We discuss the production and evolution of cosmological gravitons showing how the cosmological background affects their dynamics. Besides, the detection of cosmological gravitons could constitute an extremely important signature to discriminate among different cosmological models. Here we consider the cases of scalar-tensor gravity and $f(R)$ gravity where it is demonstrated the amplification of graviton amplitude changes if compared with General Relativity. Possible observational constraints are discussed.
We discuss a mechanism that induces a time-dependent vacuum energy on cosmological scales. It is based on the instability induced renormalization triggered by the low energy quantum fluctuations in a Universe with a positive cosmological constant. We employ the dynamical systems approach to study the qualitative behavior of Friedmann-Robertson-Walker cosmologies where the cosmological constant is dynamically evolving according with this nonperturbative scaling at low energies. It will be shown that it is possible to realize a "two regimes" dark energy phases, where an unstable early phase of p…
We investigate the realization of two bouncing paradigms, namely of the superbounce and the loop quantum cosmological ekpyrosis, in the framework of various modified gravities. In particular, we focus on the $F(R)$, $F(G)$ and $F(T)$ gravities, and we reconstruct their specific subclasses which lead to such universe evolutions. These subclasses constitute from power laws, polynomials, or hypergeometric ansatzes, which can be approximated by power laws. The qualitative similarity of different effective gravities which realize the above two bouncing cosmologies, indicates to some universality ly…
Dynamical system methods are used in the study of the stability of spatially flat homogeneous cosmologies within a large class of generalized modified gravity models in the presence of a relativistic matter-radiation fluid. The present approach can be considered as the generalization of previous works in which only $F(R)$ cases were considered. Models described by an arbitrary function of all possible geometric invariants are investigated and general equations giving all critical points are derived.
In the framework of massive gravity with a de Sitter reference metric, we study homogeneous and isotropic solutions with positive spatial curvature. Remarkably, we find that bounces can occur when cosmological matter satisfies the strong energy condition, in contrast to what happens in classical general relativity. This is due to the presence in the Friedmann equations of additional terms, which depend on the scale factor and its derivatives and can be interpreted as an effective fluid. We present a detailed study of the system using a phase space analysis. After having identified the fixed po…
By the application of the generalized Israel junction conditions we derive cosmological equations for the fourth-order $f(R)$ brane gravity and study their cosmological solutions. We show that there exists a non-static solution which describes a four-dimensional de-Sitter $(dS_4)$ brane embedded in a five-dimensional anti-de-Sitter $(AdS_5)$ bulk for a vanishing Weyl tensor contribution. On the other hand, for the case of a non-vanishing Weyl tensor contribution, there exists a static brane only. We claim that in order to get some more general non-static $f(R)$ brane configurations, one needs …
Cyclic universes with bouncing solutions are candidates for solving the big bang initial singularity problem. Here we seek bouncing solutions in a modified Gauss-Bonnet gravity theory, of the type $R+f(G)$, where $R$ is the Ricci scalar, $G$ is the Gauss-Bonnet term, and $f$ some function of it. In finding such a bouncing solution we resort to a technique that reduces the order of the differential equations of the $R+f(G)$ theory to second order equations. As general relativity is a theory whose equations are of second order, this order reduction technique enables one to find solutions which a…
We study the background cosmology of two extensions of dRGT massive gravity. The first is variable mass massive gravity, where the fixed graviton mass of dRGT is replaced by the expectation value of a scalar field. We ask whether self-inflation can be driven by the self-accelerated branch of this theory, and we find that, while such solutions can exist for a short period, they cannot be sustained for a cosmologically useful time. Furthermore, we demonstrate that there generally exist future curvature singularities of the "big brake" form in cosmological solutions to these theories. The second …
The present thesis is focused on the study of FLRW cosmology in modified gravities and with scalar fields. The mystery of dark energy has made that the last decade, many efforts in theoretical physics have been focused on the explanation of the current acceleration of the Universe expansion. On the other hand, an early accelerated epoch, known as inflation, is also required in the standard cosmological model in order to fit the observational data. Here, we study the possibility to explain both effects under the same mechanism, by means of scalar fields or modified gravity. In this sense, F(R) …
We show how the large-scale cosmological dynamics can be obtained from the hydrodynamics of isotropic group field theory condensate states in the Gross-Pitaevskii approximation. The correct Friedmann equations are recovered in the semi-classical limit for some choices of the parameters in the action for the group field theory, and quantum gravity corrections arise in the high-curvature regime causing a bounce which generically resolves the big-bang and big-crunch singularities.
We examine the potential strong coupling problem at early times in a bouncing cosmological model with "strong gravity in the past" (Jordan frame), which is conformally related to inflation (Einstein frame). From naive dimensional analysis in the Jordan frame one would conclude that the quantum strong coupling energy scale can be lower than the classical energy scale. However, from the Einstein frame prospective this should not be the case. We illustrate this point by calculation in the Jordan frame which shows cancellations of the dangerous contributions in the tree level amplitude.
This study uses very simple symmetry and consistency considerations to put constraints on possible Friedmann equations for modified gravity models in curved spaces. As an example, it is applied to loop quantum cosmology.
We propose a new swampland conjecture stating that the limit of vanishing gravitino mass corresponds to the massless limit of an infinite tower of states and to the consequent breakdown of the effective field theory. We test our proposal in large classes of models coming from compactification of string theory to four dimensions, where we identify the Kaluza-Klein nature of the tower of states becoming light. We point out a general relation between the gravitino mass and abelian gauge coupling in models with extended supersymmetry, which can survive also in examples with minimal supersymmetry. …
We present a method for generating exact diagonal $G_2$-cosmological solutions in dilaton gravity coupled to a radiation perfect fluid and with a cosmological potential of a special type. The method is based on the symmetry group of the system of $G_2$-field equations. Several new classes of explicit exact inhomogeneous perfect fluid scalar-tensor cosmologies are presented.
We give the equations governing the shear evolution in Bianchi spacetimes for general f(R)-theories of gravity. We consider the case of R^n-gravity and perform a detailed analysis of the dynamics in Bianchi I cosmologies which exhibit local rotational symmetry. We find exact solutions and study their behaviour and stability in terms of the values of the parameter n. In particular, we found a set of cosmic histories in which the universe is initially isotropic, then develops shear anisotropies which approaches a constant value.
We study isotropic and anisotropic (Bianchi I) cosmologies in Palatini $f(R)$ and $f(R,R_{μν}R^{μν})$ theories of gravity and consider the existence of non-singular bouncing solutions in the early universe. We find that all $f(R)$ models with isotropic bouncing solutions develop shear singularities in the anisotropic case. On the contrary, the simple quadratic model $R+a R^2/R_P+R_{μν}R^{μν}/R_P$ exhibits regular bouncing solutions in both isotropic and anisotropic cases for a wide range of equations of state, including dust (for $a<0$) and radiation (for arbitrary $a$). It thus represents a p…
We study the cosmological effects of adding terms of higher-order in the usual energy-momentum tensor to the matter lagrangian of general relativity. This is in contrast to most studies of higher-order gravity which focus on generalising the Einstein-Hilbert curvature contribution to the lagrangian. The resulting cosmological theories include many particular theories, like bulk viscous cosmologies, loop quantum gravity, K-essence, and brane-world cosmologies. We find a range of exact solutions for isotropic universes, discuss their behaviours with reference to the early and late-time evolution…
We propose a new reconstruction method for scalar--tensor gravity based on the use of conformal transformations. The new method allows the derivation of a set of interesting exact cosmological solutions in brans Dicke gravity as well as other extensions of General Relativity.
Within the theory of the ghost-free bigravity, we present the most general cosmological solution for which the physical metric is homogeneous and isotropic, while the second metric is inhomogeneous. The solution includes a matter source and exists for any values of the theory parameters. The physical metric describes a universe with the late time acceleration due to the effective cosmological term mimicked by the graviton mass. When perturbed, this universe should rest approximately homogeneous and isotropic in space regions small compared to the graviton Compton length. In the limit where the…
Assuming that time exists, a new, effective formulation of gravity is introduced, which lies in between the Wheeler-DeWitt approach and ordinary QFT. Remarkably, the Penrose-Hawking singularity of usual Friedman-Robertson-Walker cosmologies is naturally avoided there. The theory is made explicit via specific examples, and compared with loop quantum cosmology. It is argued that it is the regularization of the classical Hamiltonian performed in this last theory what avoid the singularity, rather than quantum effects as in our case.
A flat FLRW cosmological model with perfect fluid comprising of variable Chaplygin gas has been studied in context of f(R; T) gravity with particle creation. The considered scale factors describe the accelerated expansion of universe due to the effective negative pressure produced during evolution of universe. The role of particle creation pressure on the cosmological parameters have been discussed in detail. By considering well accepted values of free parameters, the late time expansion of the universe with energy conditions have also been studied. The state-finder diagnostic for the consider…
In this paper, we investigate a class of perfect-fluid "anti-Newtonian" cosmological models in the context of f(R) gravity. In particular, we study the integrability conditions of such gravity models using covariant consistency analysis formalisms. We show that, unlike the results in General Relativity, anti-Newtonian cosmologies are not silent models and that they can exist subject to the solution of an integrability condition equation we derive. We also present the set of evolution equations governing the linear perturbations of matter, expansion and Ricci scalar for this class of models.
As is known, in modified cosmological theories of gravity many of the cosmologies which could not be generated by standard Einstein gravity, can be consistently described by $F(R)$ theories. Using known reconstruction techniques, we investigate which $F(R)$ theories can lead to a Hubble parameter describing two types of cosmological bounces, the superbounce model, related to supergravity and non-supersymmetric models of contracting ekpyrosis and also the Loop Quantum Cosmology modified ekpyrotic model. Since our method is an approximate method, we investigate the problem at large and small cur…
The field equations of Brans-Dicke gravity coupled to a mass-varying vector field are derived. Anisotropic cosmological solutions with a locally rotationally symmetric Bianchi type I metric and time-dependent scalar and electric vector fields are studied. A particular class of exact solutions for which all the variable parameters have a power-law time dependence is given. The universe expands with a constant expansion anisotropy within this class of solutions. We show that the accelerating expansion is driven by the scalar field and the electric vector field can be interpreted as an anisotropi…
We study evolution of a flat Friedmann-Robertson Walker universe filled with a bulk viscous cosmological fluid in a higher derivative theory of gravity in the presence of time varying gravitational and cosmological constant. Cosmological models admitting both power-law and exponential expansions are explored here in the presence of imperfect fluid described by full Israel and Stewart theory. We note some new and interesting cosmological solutions relevant for model building including present accelerating phase. In the case of power law, it is found that gravitational constant increases as the …
We consider the case of $R^n$-gravity and perform a detailed analysis of the dynamics in Bianchi I cosmologies which exhibit {\it local rotational symmetry} (LRS). We find exact solutions and study their behaviour and stability in terms of the values of the parameter $n$. In particular, we found a set of cosmic histories in which the universe is initially isotropic, then develops shear anisotropies which approaches a constant value.
We investigate the integrability conditions of a class of shear-free perfect-fluid cosmological models within the framework of anisotropic fluid sources, applying our results to f(R) dark energy models. Generalising earlier general relativistic results for time-like geodesics, we extend the potential and acceleration terms of the quasi-Newtonian formulation of integrable dust cosmological models about a linearized Friedmann-Lemaitre-Robertson-Walker background and derive the equations that describe their dynamical evolutions. We show that in general, models with an anisotropic fluid source are…
Non-local gravity cosmologies are considered under the standard of Noether Symmetry Approach. In particular, we focus on non-local theories whose gravitational actions depend on curvature and Gauss-Bonnet scalar invariants. Specific functional forms of the related point-like Lagrangians are selected by Noether symmetries and we solve the corresponding field equations finding out exact cosmological solutions.
We study the correspondence between two theoretical frameworks for describing dark energy, $f(R)$ gravity and higher-dimensional Space-Time-Matter (STM) or induced-matter theory. We show that the Hubble expansion parameter in $f(R)$ gravity can be associated with a combination of metric functions in STM theory, and consider a specific example whose properties are consistent with late-time acceleration.
The most remarkable and interesting feature of brane world scenario is the use of bulk's curvature to localize gravity on the brane, albeit with fine tuning of the brane and bulk parameters. For FRW expanding universe on the brane, it is a moving hypersurface in Schwarzschild anti de Sitter bulk spacetime. We show that zero mass gravitons have bound state on the brane for suitable values of brane and bulk parameters. There occur various cases giving rise to different cosmological models, in particular we discuss a model with positive cosmological constant on the brane.
We present the detailed derivation of the recently announced most general cosmological solution with homogeneous and isotropic metric in the ghost-free massive gravity theory. We use the standard parametrization of the theory in terms of the matrix square root, and then show how the same results are recovered within the tetrad formulation. The solution obtained includes the matter source, it exists for generic values of the theory parameters, and it describes a universe that can be spatially open, closed, or flat, and that shows the late time acceleration due to the effective cosmological term…
We develop a semiclassical approximation scheme for the constraint equations of supersymmetric canonical quantum gravity. This is achieved by a Born-Oppenheimer type of expansion, in analogy to the case of the usual Wheeler-DeWitt equation. The formalism is only consistent if the states at each order depend on the gravitino field. We recover at consecutive orders the Hamilton-Jacobi equation, the functional Schrodinger equation, and quantum gravitational correction terms to this Schrodinger equation. In particular, the following consequences are found: (i) the Hamilton-Jacobi equation and ther…
We study flat space cosmologies in two dimensions by taking the flat space limit of the Achucarro-Ortiz model. We unravel a phase transition between hot flat space and flat space cosmologies, and derive a new dilaton-dependent counterterm required for the consistency of the Euclidean partition function. Our results generalize to asymptotically mass-dominated 2-dimensional dilaton gravity models, whose thermodynamical properties we discuss. The novel case of asymptotic mass-domination is neither covered by the comprehensive discussion of hep-th/0703230 nor by the more recent generalization to d…
Models of gravity with variable G and Lambda have acquired greater relevance after the recent evidence in favour of the Einstein theory being nonperturbatively renormalizable in the Weinberg sense. The present paper applies the Arnowitt-Deser-Misner (ADM) formalism to such a class of gravitational models. Are modified action functional is then built which reduces to the Einstein-Hilbert action when G is constant, and leads to a power-law growth of the scale factor for pure gravity and for a massless Phi**4 theory in a Universe with Robertson-Walker symmetry, in agreement with the recently deve…
We study accelerating cosmological solutions of a general class of non-linear gravities which depend on Gauss-Bonnet and other higher derivative invariants. To achieve this goal a local formulation with auxiliary scalars for arbitrary higher-derivative non-local gravity is developed. It is demonstrated that non-local Gauss-Bonnet gravity can be reduced, in the local formulation, to a model of string-inspired scalar-Gauss-Bonnet gravity. A natural unification, in the theory here developed, of the early-time inflation epoch with a late-time acceleration stage can also be realized.
We present a survey of the known cosmological and black hole solutions in ghost-free bigravity and massive gravity theories. These can be divided into three classes. First, there are solutions with proportional metrics, which are the same as in General Relativity with a cosmological term, which can be positive, negative or zero. Secondly, for spherically symmetric systems, there are solutions with non-bidiagonal metrics. The g-metric fulfills Einstein equations with a positive cosmological term and a matter source, while the f-metric is anti-de Sitter. The third class contains solutions with b…
The stability of two different bounce scenarios from F(R,G) modified gravity at later times is studied, namely a hyperbolic cosine bounce model and a matter-dominated one. After describing the main characteristics of F(R,G) modified gravity, the two different bounce scenarios stemming from this theory are reconstructed and their stability at late stages is discussed. The stability of the hyperbolic cosine model is proven, while the concrete matter-bounce model here chosen does not seem to accomplish the necessary conditions to be stable at later times.
In this paper we study the dynamics of {\it orthogonal spatially homogeneous} Bianchi cosmologies in $R^n$-gravity. We construct a compact state space by dividing the state space into different sectors. We perform a detailed analysis of the cosmological behaviour in terms of the parameter $n$, determining all the equilibrium points, their stability and corresponding cosmological evolution. In particular, the appropriately compactified state space allows us to investigate static and bouncing solutions. We find no Einstein static solutions, but there do exist cosmologies with bounce behaviours. …
In this paper, we explore classes of irrotational-fluid cosmological models in the context of f(R)-gravity in an attempt to put some theoretical and mathematical restrictions on the form of the f(R) gravitational Lagrangian. In particular, we investigate the consistency of linearised dust models for shear-free cases as well as in the limiting cases when either the gravito-magnetic or gravito-elecric components of the Weyl tensor vanish. We also discuss the existence and consistency of classes of non-expanding irrotational spacetimes in f(R)-gravity.
If the accelerated expansion of the universe is due to a modification of general relativity at late times, it is likely that the growth of structure on large scales would also display deviations from the standard cosmology. We investigate the statistics of the distribution of galaxy cluster-sized halos as a probe of gravity. We analyze the output of several matched N-body simulations with the same initial conditions and expansion histories but using both DGP and f (R) gravity with various parameters. From each simulation we extract the cluster mass function, power spectrum, and mean pairwise v…
We consider the field equations for a flat FRW cosmological model, in a generic $f(R)$ gravity model and cast them into a, completely normalized-dimensionless, system of O.D.Es for the scale factor and the function $f(R)$, with respect to the scalar curvature $R$. It is shown that under reasonable assumptions one can produce simple analytical and numerical solutions describing bouncing cosmological models where in addition there are late-time accelerating. Possibility of extending these results is briefly discussed.
For the description of the Universe expansion, compatible with observational data, a model of modified gravity - Lovelock gravity with dilaton - is investigated. D-dimensional space with 3- and (D-4)-dimensional maximally symmetric subspaces is considered. Space without matter and space with perfect fluid are under test. In various forms of the theory under way (third order without dilaton and second order - Einstein-Gauss-Bonnet gravity - with dilaton and without it) stationary, power-law, exponential and exponent-of-exponent form cosmological solutions are obtained. Last two forms include so…
We analyze the Extended Quasi-Dilaton Massive Gravity model around a Friedmann-Lemaître-Robertson-Walker cosmological background. We present a careful stability analysis of asymptotic fixed points. We find that the traditional fixed point cannot be approached dynamically, except from a perfectly fine-tuned initial condition involving both the quasi-dilaton and the Hubble parameter. A less-well examined fixed-point solution, where the time derivative of the 0-th Stückelberg field vanishes $\dotϕ^0=0$, encounters no such difficulty, and the fixed point is an attractor in some finite region of in…
We investigate the limits of applicability of the quasi-static approximation in cosmologies featuring general models of dark energy or modified gravity. We show that, at best, the quasi-static approximation breaks down outside of the sound horizon of the dark-energy, rather than the cosmological horizon as is frequently assumed. When the sound speed of dark energy is significantly below that of light, the quasi-static limit is only valid in a limited range of observable scales and this must be taken into account when computing effects on observations in such models. As an order of magnitude es…
We investigate homogeneous and isotropic cosmological models in scalar-tensor theories of gravity where two scalar fields are nonminimally coupled to the geometry. Exact solutions are found, by Noether symmetries, depending on the form of couplings and self-interaction potentials. An interesting feature is that we deal with the Brans-Dicke field and the inflaton on the same ground since both are nonminimally coupled and not distinguished {\it a priori} as in earlier models. This fact allows to improve dynamics to get successful extended inflationary scenarios. Double inflationary solutions are…
We discuss non-minimally coupled cosmologies involving different geometric invariants. Specifically, actions containing a non-minimally coupled scalar field to gravity described, in turn, by curvature, torsion and Gauss--Bonnet scalars are considered. We show that couplings, potentials and kinetic terms are determined by the existence of Noether symmetries which, moreover, allows to reduce and solve dynamics. The main finding of the paper is that different non-minimally coupled theories, presenting the same Noether symmetries, are dynamically equivalent. In other words, Noether symmetries are …
Models with a scalar field coupled to the Gauss-Bonnet Lagrangian appear naturally from Kaluza-Klein compactifications of pure higher-dimensional gravity. We study linear, cosmological perturbations in the limits of weak coupling and slow-roll, and derive simple expressions for the main observable sub-horizon quantities: the anisotropic stress factor, the time-dependent gravitational constant, and the matter perturbation growth factor. Using present observational data, and assuming slow-roll for the dark energy field, we find that the fraction of energy density associated with the coupled Gaus…
The observed accelerated expansion of the Universe may be explained by dark energy or the breakdown of general relativity (GR) on cosmological scales. When the latter case, a modified gravity scenario, is considered, it is often assumed that the background evolution is the same as the $Λ$CDM model but the density perturbation evolves differently. In this paper, we investigate more general classes of modified gravity, where both the background and perturbation evolutions are deviated from those in the $Λ$CDM model. We introduce two phase diagrams, $α{\rm-}fσ_8$ and $H{\rm-}fσ_8$ diagrams; $H$ i…
We present a class of theories of two dimensional gravity which admits homogeneous and isotropic solutions that are nonsingular and asymptotically approach a FRW matter dominated universe at late times. These models are generalizations of two dimensional dilaton gravity and both vacuum solutions and those including conformally coupled matter are investigated. In each case our construction leads to an inflationary stage driven by the gravitational sector. Our work comprises a simple example of the `Nonsingular Universe' constructions of ref. [1].
The string $α^\prime$-correction to the usual Einstein action comprises a Gauss-Bonnet integrand multiplied by non-trivial functions of the modulus field $χ$ and/or the dilaton field $ϕ$. We discuss how the presence of such terms in the four dimensional effective action can explain several novel phenomena, such as a four-dimensional flat Friedmann-Robertson-Walker universe undergoing a cosmic inflation at the early epoch, as well as a cosmic acceleration at late times. The model predicts, during inflation, spectra of both density perturbations and gravitational waves that may fall well within …
In this work, we study FRW cosmologies in the context of gravity rainbow. We discuss the general conditions for having a nonsingular FRW cosmology in gravity rainbow. We propose that gravity rainbow functions can be fixed using two known modified dispersion relation (MDR), which have been proposed in literature. The first MDR was introduced by Amelino-Camelia, et el. in [9] and the second was introduced by Magueijo and Smolin in [24]. Studying these FRW-like cosmologies, after fixing the gravity rainbow functions, leads to nonsingular solutions which can be expressed in exact forms.
We review the accelerating (mainly, dark energy) cosmologies in modified gravity. Special attention is paid to cosmologies leading to finite-time future singularities in $F(R)$, $F(G)$ and $\mathcal{F}(R,G)$ modified gravities. The removal of the finite-time future singularities via addition of $R^2$-term which simultaneously unifies the early-time inflation with late-time acceleration is also briefly mentioned. Accelerating cosmology including the scenario unifying inflation with dark energy is considered in $F(R)$ gravity with Lagrange multipliers. In addition, we examine domain wall solutio…
Testing a subset of viable cosmological models beyond General Relativity (GR), with implications for cosmic acceleration and the Dark Energy associated with it, is within the reach of Rubin Observatory Legacy Survey of Space and Time (LSST) and a part of its endeavor. Deviations from GR-w(z)CDM models can manifest in the growth rate of structure and lensing, as well as in screening effects on non-linear scales. We explore the constraining power of small-scale deviations predicted by the f(R) Hu-Sawicki Modified Gravity (MG) candidate, by emulating this model with COLA (COmoving Lagrangian Acce…
We construct metric perturbations of two families of isotropic expanding universes describing gravitational waves propagating through these universes. The waves are non--planar and owe their wave front expansion solely to the expansion of the universes. The presence of this radiation leads to a small perturbation of the perfect fluid matter content of the universes by the appearance of an anisotropic stress. We then construct exact models of gravity waves in these universes. In this case the matter content of the models consists of the perfect fluid matter supplemented by anisotropic stress an…
Rip cosmological models have been investigated in the framework of $f(T,\mathcal{T})$ theory of gravity, where $T$ denotes the torsion and $\mathcal{T}$ is the trace of the energy-momentum tensor. These phantom cosmological models revealed that at initial epoch a EoS parameter $ω<-1$ and tends asymptotically at late phase to $-1$ $(ω\rightarrow -1)$. On the other hand, Wormhole Solutions and Big Trip have been subject of an investigation. The wormhole throat radius $R(t)$ and the conditions to be satisfied so that produces the Big Trip phenomenon have been discussed.
A novel analytical method for f(R) modified theories without matter in Friedmann-Lemaitre-Robertson-Walker spacetimes is introduced. The equation of motion for the scale factor in terms of cosmic time is reduced to the equation for the evolution of the Ricci scalar R with the Hubble parameter H. The solution of equation of motion for actions of the form of power law in Ricci scalar R, is presented with a detailed elaboration of the action quadratic in R. The reverse use of the introduced method is exemplified in finding functional forms f(R) which lead to specified scale factor functions. The …
