We analyze the $B$ anomalies associated with the $B\to D^{(*)}τν$ decays in the unparticle model. The fraction of the branching ratios $R(D^{(*)})$ and other parameters related to the polarization are fitted to the experimental data by minimizing $χ^2$. The best-fit values are $R(D)_{\rm best}=0.371$ and $R(D^*)_{\rm best}=0.266$ which are still larger than the standard model predictions. We find that our results safely render the branching ratio ${\rm Br}(B_c\toτν)$ below $10\%$.
We calculate triangle anomalies for fermions with non-canonical scaling dimensions. The most well known example of such fermions (aka unfermions) occurs in Seiberg duality where the matching of anomalies (including mesinos with scaling dimensions between 3/2 and 5/2) is a crucial test of duality. By weakly gauging the non-local action for an unfermion, we calculate the one-loop three-current amplitude. Despite the fact that there are more graphs with more complicated propagators and vertices, we find that the calculation can be completed in a way that nearly parallels the usual case. We show t…
We predict the contribution of scalar unparticle to the branching ratios of the lepton flavor conserving Z -> l^+ l^- decays and we study the discrepancy between the experimental and the QED corrected standard model branching ratios. We observe that these decays are sensitive to the unparticle scaling dimension d_u for its small values, especially for heavy lepton flavor output.
We predict the branching ratios of the lepton flavor violating Higgs decays H^0\rightarrow e^{\pm} μ^{\pm}, H^0\rightarrow e^{\pm} τ^{\pm} and H^0\rightarrow μ^{\pm} τ^{\pm} with the assumption that lepton flavor violation is due to the unparticle mediation. Here, we consider an effective interaction which breaks the conformal invariance after the electroweak symmetry breaking and causes that unparticle becomes massive. The new interaction results in a modification of the mediating unparticle propagator and brings additional contribution to the branching ratios of the lepton flavor violating d…
Rare (t -> c g g) decay can only appear at loop level in the Standard Model (SM), and naturally they are strongly suppressed. These flavor changing decays induced by the mediation of spin-0 and spin-2 unparticles, can appear at tree level in unparticle physics. In this work the virtual effects of unparticle physics in the flavor-changing (t -> c g g) decay is studied. Using the SM result for the branching ratio of the (t -> c g g) decay, the parameter space of d_U and Lambda_U, where the branching ratio of this decay exceeds the one predicted by the SM, is obtained. Measurement of the branchin…
We study the contribution of the tensor unparticle mediation to the branching ratios of the radiative lepton flavor violating decays and predict a restriction region for free parameters of the scenario by using experimental upper limits. We observe that the branching ratios of the radiative lepton flavor violating decays are sensitive to the fundamental mass scales of the scenario and to the scale dimension of antisymmetric tensor unparticle. We obtain a more restricted set for the free parameters in the case of the μ\rightarrow e γdecay
We predict the branching ratios of the lepton flavor violating Higgs decays H^0->e^{\pm} μ^{\pm}, H^0-> e^{\pm} τ^{\pm} and H^0->μ^{\pm} τ^{\pm} in the case that the lepton flavor violation is carried by the scalar unparticle mediation. We observe that their branching ratios are strongly sensitive to the unparticle scaling dimension and they can reach to the values of the order of $10^{-4}$, for the heavy lepton flavor case and for the small values of the scaling dimension.
We predict the branching ratios of the lepton flavor violating Z boson decays Z\to e^{\pm} μ^{\pm}, Z\to e^{\pm} τ^{\pm} and Z\to μ^{\pm} τ^{\pm} in the case that the lepton flavor violation is carried by the scalar unparticle mediation. We observe that their BRs are strongly sensitive to the unparticle scaling dimension and the branching ratios can reach to the values of the order of 10^{-8}, for the heavy lepton flavor case, for the small values of the scaling dimension.
We predict the branching ratios of the lepton flavor violating radion decays r -> e^{\pm} μ^{\pm}, r -> e^{\pm} τ^{\pm} and r ->μ^{\pm} τ^{\pm} in the framework of the Randall-Sundrum scenario that the lepton flavor violation is carried by the scalar unparticle mediation. We observe that their BRs are strongly sensitive to the unparticle scaling dimension and, for its small values, the branching ratios can reach to the values of the order of 10^{-8}, for the heavy lepton flavor case.
We examine the effects of an unparticle $\mathcal{U}$ as a possible source of missing energy in the p-wave decays of $B$ meson. The dependence of the differential branching ratio on the $K_{0}^{\ast}(K_{1}) -$% meson's energy is discussed in the presence of scalar and vector unparticle operators and significant deviation from the standard model value is found after addition of these operators. Finally, we have shown the dependence of branching ratio for the above said decays on the parameters of the unparticle stuff like the effective couplings, cutoff scale $Λ_{% \mathcal{U}}$ and the scale d…
We investigate the effect of unparticles in the pure annihilation type decays $B^- \to D_s^-ϕ$ and $ D_s^- K^{*0}$. Since these decays have only annihilation contributions their branching ratios are expected to be very small in the standard model and the direct CP asymmetry parameters to be zero. We find that due to the unparticle effect these branching ratios can be significantly enhanced from their standard model values. Furthermore, sizable nonzero direct CP violation could also be possible in these channels due to the presence of intrinsic CP conserving phase in the unparticle propagator.
We analyze the branching ratio and spectrum for the decay mode $K^+ \toπ^++{\not}E$(missing energy) in the unparticle model, where an unparticle can also serve as the missing energy. A vector unparticle can even mediate the $K^+ \to π^+ +ν\barν$, resulting complicated interference with the Standard Model.
In this work we study the flavor changing neutral current(FCNC) decays of the top quark, $t\to cγ$ and $t\to c g$. The Standard Model, predictions for the branching ratios of these decays are about $\sim 5\times 10^{-14}$, and $\sim 1\times 10^{-12}$, respectively. The recent study presented by the ATLAS Collaboration gives a sensitivity on these branching ratios about $\sim 10^{-5}$ at $%95$ C.L. The parameter space of $λ$, $Λ$, and $d$ where the branching ratios of $t\to cγ$ and $t\to c g$ decays exceed these predictions is obtained.
Unparticle contributions to the recently measured decay mode $B_s\toμ^+μ^-$ are analyzed. We consider only the scalar unparticles because vector unparticles are expected to provide negligible contributions. Assuming that the relevant coupling constants are real, we present allowed regions of coupling constants and the scaling dimension of the scalar unparticle. While the measured value of the branching ratio is very close to the standard model predictions, one cannot exclude the possible contributions from unparticles.
We study unparticle physics effects in (Lambda_b -> Lambda + missing energy) decay with polarized $Λ_b$ and $Λ$ baryons. The sensitivity of the branching ratio of this decay and polarizations of (Lambda_b) and (Lambda) baryons on the scale dimension d_U and effective cut-off parameter (Lambda_U) are discussed.
The decay of the standard model Higgs boson into a single photon and a vector unparticle through a one-loop process is studied. For an intermediate mass Higgs boson, this single photon plus unparticle mode can have a branching ratio comparable with the two-photon discovery mode. The emitted photon has a continuous energy spectrum encoding the nature of the recoil unparticle. It can be measured in precision studies of the Higgs boson after its discovery.
Recently H. Georgi has introduced an unparticle $\unpart$ in order to describe the low energy physics of a nontrivial scale invariant sector of an effective theory. In this work we have explored the phenomenology of an unparticle using the lepton flavour violating decay $μ^{-}\to e^{-} e^{+} e^{-}$, and found that the branching ratio of this decay is strongly dependent on the scaling dimension.
In the present work we study the effects of an unparticle $\unpart$ as the possible source of missing energy in the decay $B \to K (K^*) + {\rm missing energy}$. We find that the dependence of the differential branching ratio on the $K$($K^*$)-meson's energy in the presence of the vector unparticle operators is very distinctive from that of the SM. Moreover, in using the existing upper bound on $B \to K (K^*) + {\rm missing energy}$ decays, we have been able to put more stringent constraints on the parameters of unparticle stuff.
We study the radiative lepton flavor violating l_i -> l_j γγdecays in the case that the lepton flavor violation is induced by the scalar unparticle mediation. We restrict the scaling dimension d_u and the scalar unparticle-photon-photon coupling by using the experimental upper limit of the branching ratio of the decay μ-> e γγ. Furthermore, we predict the BRs of the other radiative decays by using the restrictions we get. We observe that the measurements of upper limits of BRs of these decays ensure considerable information for testing the possible signals coming from unparticle physics
We examine the possible unparticle effects on $R(D^{(*)})$ associated with $B\to D^{(*)}τν$ decays by minimum-$χ^2$ fitting. Recent measurements from Belle and LHCb are included in this analysis. While it is true that the new experimental results of $R(D^{(*)})$ get closer to the standard model predictions, there are still rooms for new physics and unparticles are also one possibility. Our best-fit values are $R(D)=0.456$ and $R(D^*)=0.270$, which are still far from the standard model values by more than ($R(D)$) or almost ($R(D^*)$) $2σ$. We also find that the unparticle effects are quite saf…
We make an evaluation of the lepton flavor violating (LFV) decays $τ\to \ell (V^0, P^0)$, where $\ell=e$ or $μ$ and $V^0(P^0)$ is a neutral vector (pseudo-scalar) meson, in the context of unparticle physics. The constraints are investigated systematically on the related coupling parameters from all the available experimental data, and the parameter values are specified appropriately. The results show that whereas over the whole parameter space allowed by experiments all the $τ\to \ell P^0$ modes have a branching ratio too small to be measurable experimentally, in a large subspace as observed a…
We investigate the implication of unparticle physics on the B_{u,d}\to (π, K) πdecays under the constraints of the B_{d,s}-\bar B_{d,s} mixing. We found that not only the unparticle parameters that belong to the flavor changing neutral current (FCNC) processes but also scaling dimension d_{\UP} could be constrained by the B_{d,s}-\bar B_{d,s} mixing phenomenology. Employing the minimum χ^2 analysis to the B_{u,d}\to (π, K) πdecays with the constraints of B_{d,s} mixing, we find that the puzzle of large branching ratio for B_{d}\to π^0 π^0 and the discrepancy between the standard model estimati…
Coupling the scale invariant unparticle sector to flavour physics and assuming that it remains scale invariant we investigate its consequences in heavy flavour physics. A drastic feature of unparticle physics is an unusual phase leading to novel CP violating phenomena. We consider the CP asymmetry in the leptonic decay B^+ -> tau^+ nu and the hadronic decay B_d -> D^+D^-, taking into account constraints of branching ratios and time dependent CP asymmetries. Generic plots are shown and it turns out that there exist parameters for which the CP violation is maximal. A prediction of a large CP asy…
The branching ratios for the neutral and charged B decay channels to $η' K$ and $ηK^*$ are well above the Standard Model expectations. Moreover, the mixing-induced CP asymmetry in $B \to ϕK_S$ is incompatible to that found in $B\to J/ψK_S$. We investigate whether a flavour-specific tree-level $b\to s \bar{s} s$ operator coming from R-parity violating supersymmetry can resolve both these discrepancies, without jeopardizing those results which are in agreement with the Standard Model. We found that it is possible to have a parameter space satisfying all these requirements, including that of a lo…
With rapid growth of the database of the BES III and the proposed super flavor factory, measurement on the rare $ψ(2S)$ decays may be feasible, especially the weak decays into baryon final states. In this work we study the decay rate of $ψ(2S)$ to $Λ_c+\overline{Σ^+}$ in the SM and physics beyond the SM (here we use the unparticle model as an example). The QPC model is employed to describe the creation of a pair of $q\bar q$ from vacuum. We find that the rate of $ψ(2S)\rightarrow Λ_c+\overline{Σ^+}$ is at order of $10^{-10}$ in the SM, whereas the contribution of the unparticle is too small to…
We discuss the implications of $b \to s \ell^+\ell^-$ measurements and their deviations with respect to the Standard Model predictions in a model-independent framework. We highlight in particular the impact of the recent updated measurements including the updated $B_s \to ϕμ^+μ^-$ branching ratios and angular observables, the recent CMS measurement of the branching ratio of $B_s\toμ^+ μ^-$, and the LHCb measured lepton flavour universality violating ratios $R_{K_S^0}$ and $R_{K^{*+}}$. In addition, we check the compatibility of the new physics effect for the theoretically clean observables wit…
Recently the $B$ factories BaBar and Belle as well as the LHCb experiment have reported several anomalies in the semileptonic $B$ meson decays such as $R_{K}$ and $R_{D^{(*)}}$ etc. We investigate these deviations by considering the vector leptoquarks relevant for both $b \to s l^+ l^-$ and $b \to c l \bar ν_l$ transitions. The leptoquark parameter space is constrained by using the experimentally measured branching ratios of $B_s \to l^+ l^-$, $\bar B \to X_s l^+ l^- (ν\bar ν)$ and $B_u^+ \to l^+ ν_l$ processes. Using the constrained leptoquark couplings, we compute the branching ratios, forwa…
Motivated by the recent measurement of the lepton flavour nonuniversality ratio $R_{K^*}$ by the LHCb Collaboration, we study the implications of vector leptoquarks on the observed anomalies associated with the $\bar B \to \bar K^* l^+ l^-$ decay processes. The leptoquark couplings are constrained from the measured branching ratios of $B_s \to l^+ l^-$, $K_L \to l^+ l^-$ and $B_s \to μ^\mp e^\pm$ processes. Using these constrained couplings, we estimate the branching ratios, forward-backward and lepton polarization asymmetries and also the form factor independent optimized observables ($P_{i}^…
Recent measurements of certain B decays indicate deviations from Standard Model (SM) predictions. We show that Supersymmetric effects can increase the Branching Ratios (BRs) of both $B\to D τ ν_τ$ and $B\to D^\ast τ ν_τ$ with respect to the SM rates, thereby approaching their newest experimentally measured values.
It is well recognized that looking for new physics at lower energy colliders is a tendency which is complementary to high energy machines such as LHC. Based on large database of BESIII, we may have a unique opportunity to do a good job. In this paper we calculate the branching ratios of semi-leptonic processes $D^+_s \to K^+ e^-e^+$, $D^+_s \to K^+ e^-μ^+$ and leptonic processes $D^0 \to e^-e^+$, $D^0 \to e^-μ^+$ in the frames of $U(1)'$ model, 2HDM and unparticle separately. It is found that both the $U(1)'$ and 2HDM may influence the semi-leptonic decay rates, but only the $U(1)'$ offers sub…
We study the impact of vector leptoquarks on the recent anomalies in semileptonic $B$ meson decays such as $R_K$ and $R_{D^{(*)}}$ etc. We constrain the leptoquark couplings by using the existing data on the branching ratios of $B_s \to l^+ l^-$ and $\bar{B} \to X_s l^+ l^-$ processes, where $l=e,μ,τ$. We estimate the branching ratios of $\bar B \to D^{(*)} l \bar ν_l$ processes using the constrained leptoquark parameter space. We also investigate the possibility of simultaneous explanation of $R_{D^{(*)}}$, $R_K$ anomalies in this model.
The experimental predictions of $R_D$, $R_{D^*}$, $R_{J/ψ}$, $P_τ^{D^*}$ and $F_L^{D^*}$ in $B$ decays mediated via $b\,\to\, c\, l\,ν$ quark level transition deviate significantly from the standard model expectations. The current world average of the ratio of branching ratios $R_D$ and $R_{D^*}$ in $B\,\to\, D^{(*)}\, l\,ν$ ($l\in e,τ$) show $1.4σ$ and $2.5σ$ deviation from the SM expectations. Similarly, the $τ$ polarization fraction $P_τ^{D^*}$ and the longitudinal polarization fraction of the $D^*$ meson $F_L^{D^*}$ in $B\,\to\, D^*\,τ\,ν$ are found to deviate from the standard model expec…
It is suggested that the Higgs boson may have a branching ratio into the $c \bar{c}$ mode suppressed by several orders of magnitude compared with conventional predictions and in addition some small but detectable flavour-violating modes such as $b \bar{s}$ and $τ\barμ$. The suggestion is based on a scheme proposed and tested earlier for explaining the mixing pattern and mass hierarchy of fermions in terms of a rotating mass matrix. If confirmed, the effects would cast new light on the geometric origin of fermion generations and of the Higgs field itself.
Deviations from the standard model predictions have been reported in various observables concerned with the lepton flavor universality. At present, the deviation of the measured values of $R_D$ and $R_{D^{\ast}}$ from the standard model expectation is exceeded by $2.3σ$ and $3.4σ$, respectively. Very recently LHCb has measured the ratio of branching ratio $R_{J/Ψ} = \mathcal B(B_c \to J/Ψτν)/\mathcal B(B_c \to J/Ψ\,l\,ν)$, where $l \in (e,\,μ)$, to be $0.71\pm0.17\pm 0.18$ which is at more than $2σ$ away from the standard model prediction. We investigate the anomalies in $R_D$, $R_{D^{\ast}}$,…
We investigate the $B$ anomalies in the framework of the nonminimal universal extra dimension models. Newly measured polarization parameters in $B\to D^{(*)}τν$, $P_τ(D^{(*)})$ and $F_L(D^*)$ as well as the ratios $R(D^{(*)})$ are considered altogether. The Kaluza-Klein modes of the $W$-boson and charged scalar contributes as the new physics effects. We find that the model parameters fit the global data very well with the minimum $χ^2/{\rm d.o.f.}$ near unity, rendering $B_c\toτν$ branching ratios to be a few percents. The best-fit values of $R(D)$ and $R(D^*)$ are still far from ($\gtrsim 2σ$…
Our Vcb extraction is based on recent Belle results, with unfolded kinematical dependence. We use two different parameterizations of the form factors, the CLN and BGL parameterizations. We discuss how the known discrepancy between the inclusive and exclusive determinations of Vcb depends on an underestimate of the uncertainty with parameterizations that use heavy quark expansion. We investigate the results of the semileptonic B decay with heavy leptons (tau) compared to the decays into light leptons. Experimental ratio of the two branching ratios is systematically larger than the Standard Mode…
In the framework of R-parity violating (\rpv) supersymmetry, we try to find a consistent explanation for both recently measured CP asymmetry in B^0 --> phi K_S decay and the large branching ratio of B^{+/-} --> eta' K^{+/-} decay, which are inconsistent with the Standard Model (SM) prediction. We also investigate other charmless hadronic B --> PP and B --> VP decay modes whose experimental data favor the SM: for instance, recently measured CP asymmetries in B^0 --> eta^{prime} K_S and B^0 --> J / Psi K_S. We find that all the observed data can be accommodated for certain values of \rpv couplin…
We investigate how far a new physics scenario affecting primarily the third generation fermions can ameliorate the tension between B-decay observables and Standard Model expectations. Adopting a model-independent approach, we find that among the three observables that show signs of such a tension, viz. the branching fractions for $B^+\toτν$, $B_d\to D(D^\ast)τν$, and the like-sign dimuon anomaly in neutral B decays, the first two can be explained adequately, while there is only a marginal improvement for the third. As a spin-off, it is shown that one can also accommodate a change in the branch…
We study some rare decays of $B$ meson involving the quark level transition $b \to q l^+l^- (q=d,s)$ in the scalar leptoquark model. We constrain the leptoquark parameter space using the recently measured branching ratios of $B_{s,d} \to μ^+ μ^-$ processes. Using such parameters, we obtain the branching ratios, direct CP violation parameters and isospin asymmetries in $B \to K μ^+ μ^-$ and $B \to πμ^+ μ^-$ processes. We also obtain the branching ratios for some lepton flavour violating decays $B \to l_i^+ l_j^-$. We find that the various anomalies associated with the isospin asymmetries of $B …
We scrutinize the recently further strengthened hints for new physics in semileptonic $B$-meson decays, focusing on the 'clean' ratios of branching fractions $R_K$ and $R_{K^\ast}$ and examining to which pattern of new effects they point to. We explore in particular the hardly considered, yet fully viable, option of new physics in the right-handed electron sector and demonstrate how a recently proposed framework of leptons in composite Higgs setups naturally solves both the $R_K$ and $R_{K^\ast}$ anomalies via a peculiar structure of new physics effects, predicted by minimality of the model an…
We identify two Cabibbo suppressed $D^+$ decay modes with anomalously high branching ratios which are not simply explained by any model. All standard model diagrams that can contribute to these decays are related by symmetries to diagrams for other decays that do not show any such enhancement. If these high branching ratios are confirmed by more precise experiments, they may require new physics to explain them. Anomalies in $D_s$ decays and tests for possible violation of G-parity are discussed.
At Moriond 2019, Belle collaboration announced their new measurements on $R_D$ and $R_{D^*}$ which are in agreement with their Standard Model (SM) predictions within $1.2σ$. After inclusion of these measurements, the discrepancy between the world averages and the SM predictions of $R_D$-$R_{D^*}$ comes down from $4.1σ$ to $3.1σ$. Here we do a global fit by taking all measurements in $b\rightarrow cτ\barν$ transition. We find that there are seven allowed new physics solutions, each with different Lorentz structure. Further we show that it is possible to distinguish between them by means of the …
Rare $K \to πν\bar ν$ decays, being dominated by short distance contributions within the Standard Model (SM), open a window for New Physics (NP) searches at low energies. The $ K \to πν\barν$ branching ratios are expected to be measured with $ \sim 10\% $ accuracies by NA62/CERN and KOTO/JPARC. The theoretical uncertainties of branching ratios within the SM are well under control. In the $ B $ sector, it is tentative to explain the $ B $-meson anomalies $ R_{D^{(\ast)}} $ and/or $ R_{K^{(\ast)}} $ by effects of physics beyond the SM. Although NP seems to be present in the third fermion generat…
The flavor changing decays of heavy bottom quarks to the corresponding lighter quarks ($u$, $c$ and $s$) in various $B$-meson decays via charged current and neutral current semileptonic transitions have emerged as promising candidates to explore the physics beyond the standard model. Experimentally the lepton flavor universality violation in $b \to (c,u)\,l\,ν$ and $b \to s\,l^+ l^-$ transitions have been reported to a higher precision. The measurements of the lepton flavor violating ratios such as $R_{D^{(*)}}$, $R_{J/Ψ}$ and $R_{K^{(*)}}$ are observed to deviate from the standard model expec…
We study $B_c \to (D,\,D^{\ast})\,l\,ν$ semileptonic decays mediated via $b \to u\,l\,ν$ charged current interactions using the $B_c \to (D,\,D^{\ast})$ transition form factors obtained in the covariant light front quark model. We give predictions on the branching ratios, ratio of branching ratios, and various asymmetries pertaining to these decay modes within the standard model. These results can be tested in the ongoing or in the future experiments and can provide complimentary information regarding the observed anomalies in $B \to (D,\,D^{\ast})τν$ and $B_c \to J/Ψτν$ decays.
Deviation from the standard model prediction is observed in many semileptonic $B$ decays mediated via $b \to c$ charged current interactions. In particular, current experimental measurements of the ratio of branching ratio $R_D$ and $R_{D^{\ast}}$ in $B \rightarrow D^{(*)}l ν$ decays disagree with standard model expectations at the level of about $4.1σ$. Moreover, recent measurement of the ratio of branching ratio $R_{J/Ψ}$ by LHCb, where $R_{J/Ψ} = \mathcal B(B_c \to J/Ψ\,τν)/\mathcal B(B_c \to J/Ψ\,μν)$, is more than $2σ$ away from the standard model prediction. In this context, we consider …

Motivated by the anomalies present in $b \to u$ and $b \to c$ semileptonic decays, we study the corresponding $B_s \to (K,K^*) τν$ and $B \to πτν$ decays within an effective field theory formalism. Our analysis is based on a strict model dependent assumption, i.e., we assume that $b \to u$ and $b \to c$ transition decays exhibit similar new physics pattern. We give prediction of various observables such as the branching fraction, ratio of branching ratio, lepton side forward-backward asymmetry, longitudinal polarization fraction of the charged lepton and convexity parameter in the standard mod…

We explore scenarios where the $R(D^{(*)})$ anomalies arise from semitauonic decays to a right-handed sterile neutrino. We perform an EFT study of all five simplified models capable of generating at tree-level the lowest dimension electroweak operators that give rise to this decay. We analyze their compatibility with current $R(D^{(*)})$ data and other relevant hadronic branching ratios, and show that one simplified model is excluded by this analysis. The remainder are compatible with collider constraints on the mediator semileptonic branching ratios, provided the mediator mass is of order TeV…
At present, there are outstanding discrepancies between standard model predictions and measurements of the muon's $g-2$ and several $B$-meson properties. We resolve these anomalies by considering a two-Higgs-doublet model extended to include leptoquarks and a dark Higgs boson $S$. The leptoquarks modify $B$-meson decays and also induce an $S γγ$ coupling, which contributes to the muon's $g-2$ through a Barr-Zee diagram. We show that, for TeV-scale leptoquarks and dark Higgs boson masses $m_{S} \sim 10-200~\text{MeV}$, a consistent resolution to all of the anomalies exists. The model predicts i…
A recent LHCb measurement of the ratio $R_{K^*}$ of $B\to K^*μ\barμ$ to $B\to K^*e\bar e$ branching fractions has produced results in mild tension with the standard model (SM). This adds to the known anomalies also induced by the $b\to s\ell\bar\ell$ transitions, resulting in a confidence level now as high as 4$σ$. We analyze whether the parameter space preferred by all the $b\to s\ell\bar\ell$ anomalies is compatible with a heavy $Z'$ boson assumed to have nonuniversal couplings to SM fermions dictated by the principle of minimal flavor violation (MFV). We deal with the MFV couplings of the $…
Neutrino oscillations are solidly established, with a hint of CP violation just emerging. Similarly, there are hints of lepton universality violation in $b \to s$ transitions at the level of $2.6 σ$. By assuming that the unitary transformation between weak and mass charged leptons equals the leptonic mixing matrix measured in neutrino oscillation experiments, we predict several lepton flavor violating (LFV) B meson decays. We are led to the tantalizing possibility that some LFV branching ratios for B decays correlate with the leptonic CP phase $δ$ characterizing neutrino oscillations. Moreover…
There are indications of a possible breakdown of the standard model, suggesting that $τ$ lepton interactions violate flavor universality. BABAR, Belle and LHCb report high ratios of $B\to D^{(*)}τν$. There are long-standing excesses in $B\toτν$ and $W\toτν$ decays, and a deficit in inclusive $τ$ to strange decays. We investigate whether two Higgs doublet models with the most general allowed couplings to quarks, and a large coupling to $τ$ leptons, can explain these anomalies while respecting other flavor constraints and technical naturalness. Fits to $B\to D^{(*)}τν$ data require couplings of …
We investigate the phenomenology of light GeV-scale fermionic dark matter in $U(1)_{L_μ- L_τ}$ gauge extension of the Standard Model. Heavy neutral fermions alongside with a $S_1(\overline{3}$,$1$,$1/3$) scalar leptoquark and an inert scalar doublet are added to address the flavor anomalies and light neutrino mass respectively. The light gauge boson associated with $U(1)_{L_μ-L_τ}$ gauge group mediates dark to visible sector and helps to obtain the correct relic density. Aided with a colored scalar, we constrain the new model parameters by using the branching ratios of various $b \to sll$ and …
Some of the recent measurements in the neutral current sector $b\rightarrow s l^+l^-$ ($l=e$ or $μ$) as well as in the charged current sector $b \rightarrow c τ\barν$ show significant deviations from their Standard Model predictions. It has been shown that two different new physics solutions, in the form of vector and/or axial vector, can explain all the anomalies in $b\rightarrow s l^+l^-$ sector. We show that the muon longitudinal polarization asymmetry in $B^*_s\rightarrow μ^+\,μ^-$ decay is a good discriminant between the two solutions if it can be measured to a precision of $\sim 10\%$, p…
Motivated by the anomalies present in $b \to s\,l^+\,l^-$ neutral current decays, we study the corresponding $B_c \to (D_s,\,D^{\ast}_s)μ^+μ^-$ decays within the standard model and beyond. We use a model independent effective theory formalism in the presence of vector and axial vector new physics operators and study the implications of the latest global fit to the $b \to s\,l^+\,l^-$ data on various observables for the $B_c \to (D_s,\,D^{\ast}_s)μ^+μ^-$ decays. We give predictions on several observables such as the differential branching ratio, ratio of branching ratios, forward backward asymm…
Recent measurements of $b$-hadron decays show a pattern of consistent tensions with the respective Standard Model (SM) predictions. These tensions appear both in the sector of rare flavour-changing neutral currents and in tree-level semileptonic $b$-hadron decays. Flavour-changing neutral-current decays are loop-suppressed in the SM and are thus very susceptible to contributions from new heavy particles and/or new interactions beyond the SM. In rare semileptonic decays tensions are observed in measurements of branching fractions and angular observables, as well as in lepton flavour universalit…
