In this work we study the flavor changing neutral current(FCNC) decays of the top quark, $t\to cγ$ and $t\to c g$. The Standard Model, predictions for the branching ratios of these decays are about $\sim 5\times 10^{-14}$, and $\sim 1\times 10^{-12}$, respectively. The recent study presented by the ATLAS Collaboration gives a sensitivity on these branching ratios about $\sim 10^{-5}$ at $%95$ C.L. The parameter space of $λ$, $Λ$, and $d$ where the branching ratios of $t\to cγ$ and $t\to c g$ decays exceed these predictions is obtained.
The decay width of the rare decay Z \to ν\barνγγis strictly constrained from the LEP data. Tensor unparticles provide a tree-level contribution to this rare decay. We have calculated the tensor unparticle contribution to the rare decay Z\to ν\barνγγ. The current experimental limit have been used to constrain unparticle couplings ν\barνZ {U}^{μν} and γγ{U}^{μν}.
We put constraints on unparticle physics, specifically on the scale $Λ_\U$ and the scale dimension $d_\U$ of unparticle operators, using (i) measurements of atomic parity violation as well as (ii) branching ratio and CP asymmetry measurements in some rare non-leptonic B decay channels.
Rare (t -> c g g) decay can only appear at loop level in the Standard Model (SM), and naturally they are strongly suppressed. These flavor changing decays induced by the mediation of spin-0 and spin-2 unparticles, can appear at tree level in unparticle physics. In this work the virtual effects of unparticle physics in the flavor-changing (t -> c g g) decay is studied. Using the SM result for the branching ratio of the (t -> c g g) decay, the parameter space of d_U and Lambda_U, where the branching ratio of this decay exceeds the one predicted by the SM, is obtained. Measurement of the branchin…
We investigate the effect of unparticles in the pure annihilation type decays $B^- \to D_s^-ϕ$ and $ D_s^- K^{*0}$. Since these decays have only annihilation contributions their branching ratios are expected to be very small in the standard model and the direct CP asymmetry parameters to be zero. We find that due to the unparticle effect these branching ratios can be significantly enhanced from their standard model values. Furthermore, sizable nonzero direct CP violation could also be possible in these channels due to the presence of intrinsic CP conserving phase in the unparticle propagator.
We investigate the rare radiative decays of extra gauge neutral bosons. In particular, we established the theoretical predictions for the production of unparticle in decays of $Z^{\prime}$ - bosons. The implementation of our prediction in the analysis at the LHC experiments should be straightforward and lead to more precise determination or limits of unparticle couplings and/or $Z^{\prime}$ couplings and masses.
We study the production of the vector $U$ -unparticle stuff and a single photon in decays of a dilaton. The signals of an unparticle can be detected through the missing energy and momentum distribution carried away by $U$ once it was produced in radiative decay of a dilaton The continuous energy spectrum of the emitted photons encoding the recoil unparticle can be measured in precision studies of rare decays of the dilaton or Higgs-boson after their discoveres.
We study the single production of top quarks in $e^+e^-, ep$ and $pp$ collisions in the context of unparticle physics through the Flavor Violating (FV) unparticle vertices and compute the total cross sections for single top production as functions of scale dimension $d_{\U}$. We find that among all, LHC is the most promising facility to probe the unparticle physics via single top quark production processes.
We investigate the effects of scalar and vector unparticles on top quark spin correlations via the process $e^{+}e^{-}\to t \bar{t}$. In addition to the Standard Model diagrams, there is a new contribution to top-antitop quark production process mediated by unparticle in the s-channel. It is shown that scalar and vector unparticle contribution leads to a considerable deviation of the top spin correlations from the Standard Model one.
We investigate the single top quark production with the exchange of unparticles through high energy photon-photon collision $γγ\to t \bar c$. The effects of unparticles on the scattering cross sections for different polarization configurations, and for various values of the scaling dimension $d, 1<d<2$ are analysed. It is shown that the $(+-)$ polarisation configuration is more preferable searching for unparticle physics signatures.
The unparticle effects on $t\bar t$ production at the future photon collider are investigated. Distributions of $t\bar t$ invariant mass and that for transverse momentum of top quark with respect to Standard Model and unparticle production are predicted. An odd valley with scalar unparticle contribution appears for some values of $d_{\U}$, which is due to the big cancellation between the contribution from SM and that from unparticle. This character may be used to study the properties of scalar unparticle. Our investigations also show that scalar unparticle may play a significant role in $t \ba…
We study effects of the scale invariant hidden sector, unparticle, proposed by Georgi, on top spin correlation at the Large Hadron Collider. Assuming no flavor changing interaction between the unparticles and the Standard Model particles, there arises the top-antitop quark pair production process through virtual unparticle exchanges in the s-channel in addition to the Standard Model processes. In particular, we consider contributions of scalar and vector unparticles and find that these make sizable deviations of the top spin correlation from the Standard Model one.
We investigate the potential of $γγ$ collisions to probe scalar unparticle couplings via top-antitop quark pair production. We find 95% confidence level limits on the unparticle couplings with an integrated luminosity of $500 fb^{-1}$ and $\sqrt{s}=1$ TeV energy. We investigate the effect of top quark spin polarization on the unparticle couplings. It is shown that spin polarization of the top quark leads to a significant improvement in the sensitivity limits.
We study the effects of unparticle physics in the pair productions of top quarks at the LHC and ILC. By considering vector, tensor and scalar unparticle operators, as appropriate, we compute the total cross sections for pair production processes depending on scale dimension $d_{\U}$. We find that the existence of unparticles would lead to measurable enhancements on the SM predictions at the LHC. In the case of ILC this may become two orders of magnitude larger than that of SM, for smaller values of $d_\U$, a very striking signal for unparticles.
The existence of an exactly scale invariant sector possessing a non-trivial infrared fixed point at a higher energy scale and its possible communication with the Standard Model particles through a heavy messenger sector has been shown to lead to curious unparticle effects. We demonstrate that top physics at the Tevatron can already constrain such theories. We also consider possible improvements at the LHC and delineate some striking signatures.
We study and analyze the recent observations of the top pair production $σ(p\bar p\to t \bar t)$ at TeVatron through flavor conserving and flavor violating channels ${\it via}$ vector and tensor unparticles. The unparticle sector is considered with the possibility of being a color singlet or octet. The modified unparticle propagator is used to investigate the contribution of these unparticles to the observed $A_{FB}^{t\bar t}$ (forward backward asymmetry in top pair production) and the spin correlation at TeVatron. We have also studied the impact of the flavor violating couplings of unparticle…
The updated CDF measurement of the forward-backward asymmetry (FBA) in the top quark production p{bar p} -> t{bar t} at Tevatron (with the CMS energy 1.96 TeV) shows a deviation of 2*sigma from the value predicted by the Standard QCD Model. We present calculation of this quantity in the scenario where colored unparticle physics contributes to the s-channel of the process, and obtain the regions in the plane of the unparticle parameters lambda and dU which give the values of the FBA and of the total t{bar t} production cross section compatible with the present measurements.
Among different measured observables of top-antitop quark pairs at hadron colliders, the forward-backward asymmetry ($A_{\text{FB}}$) measured by the CDF and D0 collaborations has inconsistency with the Standard Model prediction. The measured forward-backward asymmetry grows with $t\bar{t}$ invariant mass. Several new physics models have been proposed to explain this deviation. We consider the consistency of the parameter space of vector unparticle (in Flavor-Conserving scenario) with the existing $t\bar{t}$ production measurements. In particular, we look at the total cross sections at the LHC…
We investigate the effect of unparticles in the pure $ b \to d $ penguin processes $ B^0 \to K^0 \bar K^0$ and $B^{+,0} \to ϕπ^{+,0} $. Since these processes receive dominant contributions due to the {\it top} quark in the loop, direct and mixing-induced CP asymmetry parameters in these processes are expected to be vanishingly small in the standard model. We find that due to the unparticle effect sizable nonzero CP violation could be possible in these channels.
We construct the propagator for a free fermionic unparticle field from basic considerations of scale and Lorentz invariance. The propagator is fixed up to a normalization factor which is required to recover the result of a free massless fermion field in the canonical limit of the scaling dimension. Two new features appear compared to the bosonic case. The propagator contains both γand non-γterms, and there is a relative phase of π/2 between the two in the time-like regime for arbitrary scaling dimension. This should result in additional interference effects on top of the one known in the boson…
Hidden valleys, hidden sectors with multi-particle dynamics and a mass gap, can produce striking and unusual final states at the LHC. Unparticle models, hidden-sectors with conformal dynamics and no (or a very small) mass gap, can result in unusual kinematic features that indirectly reflect the conformal dynamics. When sufficiently large mass gaps are added to unparticle models, they become hidden valley models. Predictions using unparticle propagators alone overlook the most striking signals, which are typically of hidden-valley type. Inclusive signatures often cannot be predicted from unpart…
With rapid growth of the database of the BES III and the proposed super flavor factory, measurement on the rare $ψ(2S)$ decays may be feasible, especially the weak decays into baryon final states. In this work we study the decay rate of $ψ(2S)$ to $Λ_c+\overline{Σ^+}$ in the SM and physics beyond the SM (here we use the unparticle model as an example). The QPC model is employed to describe the creation of a pair of $q\bar q$ from vacuum. We find that the rate of $ψ(2S)\rightarrow Λ_c+\overline{Σ^+}$ is at order of $10^{-10}$ in the SM, whereas the contribution of the unparticle is too small to…
It is well recognized that looking for new physics at lower energy colliders is a tendency which is complementary to high energy machines such as LHC. Based on large database of BESIII, we may have a unique opportunity to do a good job. In this paper we calculate the branching ratios of semi-leptonic processes $D^+_s \to K^+ e^-e^+$, $D^+_s \to K^+ e^-μ^+$ and leptonic processes $D^0 \to e^-e^+$, $D^0 \to e^-μ^+$ in the frames of $U(1)'$ model, 2HDM and unparticle separately. It is found that both the $U(1)'$ and 2HDM may influence the semi-leptonic decay rates, but only the $U(1)'$ offers sub…
We compute the top quark decay rate in the Unhiggs model. In this model, the longitudinally polarized W's are unparticles, owing to their Goldstone boson nature, while the transversely polarized W's are not. Thus the fraction of decays with a longitudinal W emitted is different than in the Standard Model. Comparing this calculation to CDF data, we are able to rule out some of the Unhiggs model parameter space. We also use the expected increased accuracy of top decay measurements at the LHC to anticipate further constraints on the Unhiggs.
Theoretical predictions for the top quark rare decays are reviewed within and beyond the standard model. Expectations at the CERN Large Hadron Collider are discussed.
We consider the rare top quark decays in the framework of topcolor-assisted technicolor (TC2) model. We find that the contributions of top-pions and top-Higgs predicted by the TC2 model can enhance the SM branching ratios by as much as 6-9 orders of magnitude. i.e., in the most case, the orders of magnitude of branching ratios are $Br(t\to c g)\sim 10^{-5}$, $Br(t\to c Z)\sim 10^{-5}$, $Br(t\to c γ)\sim 10^{-7}$. With the reasonable values of the parameters in TC2 model, such rare top quark decays may be testable in the future experiments. So, rare top quark decays provide us a unique way to t…
We study a new method for detecting non-universal gauge bosons $Z'$ via considering their effects on rare top decays. We calculate the contributions of the non-universal gauge bosons $Z'$ predicted by topcolor-assisted technicolor (TC2) models and flavor-universal TC2 models on the rare top decays $t\longrightarrow cV(V=g,γ,Z)$ and $t\longrightarrow cl_{i}l_{j}(l_{i}, l_{j}=τ, μ$, or $e)$. We show that the branching ratios of these processes can be significantly enhanced. Over a sizable region of the parameter space, we have $Br(t\longrightarrow cg)\sim10^{-5}$ and $Br(t\longrightarrow cττ)\si…
We explore the impact of topflavour model to $B-\bar{B}$ mixings and rare decays of $B$ mesons. By the flavour-changing neutral current interactions of this model, the $B-\bar{B}$ mixing amplitudes are substantially affected while it is hard to investigate the effects on rare decays. Violation of the unitarity of the CKM matrix is also discussed. We find that the bound on $|V_{td}|$ can be stronger in this model by combining the experimental bound of the $B-\bar{B}$ mixing and the bound from violated unitarity.
Motivated by the search for flavor-changing neutral current (FCNC) top quark decays at the LHC, we calculate rare Higgs three body decay $H\rightarrow Wbc$ induced by top-Higgs FCNC coupling in the littlest Higgs model with T-parity(LHT). We find that the branching ratios of $H\rightarrow Wbc$ in the LHT model can reach $\mathcal O(10^{-7})$ in the allowed parameter space.
In the framework of topcolor-assisted technicolor(TC2) models, we calculate the contributions of flavor changing scalar couplings involved the neutral top-pion $π_{t}^{0}$ and top-Higgs $h_{t}^{0}$ to the branching ratio $B_{r}(t\longrightarrow cg)$. We find that the value of $B_{r}(t\longrightarrow cg)$ can reach $ 1\times10^{-3}$ with reasonable values of the parameters in TC2 models, which may be testable in the future experiments.
Top physics provides a fertile ground for new-physics searches. At present, most top observables appear to be in good agreement with the respective Standard Model predictions. However, in the case of decay modes that are suppressed in the Standard Model, new-physics contributions of comparable magnitude may exist and yet go unnoticed because their impact on the total decay width is small. Hence it is interesting to probe rare top decays. This analysis focuses on the decay $t \to b \bar b c$. Useful observables are identified and prospects for measuring new-physics parameters are examined.
Measurements at B factories have provided important constraints on new physics in several rare processes involving the B meson. New Physics, if present in the b quark sector may also affect the top sector. In an effective Lagrangian approach, we write down operators where effects in the bottom and the top sector are related. Assuming the couplings of the operators to be of the same size as the weak coupling g of the Standard Model and taking into account constraints on new physics from the bottom sector as well as top branching ratios, we make predictions for the rare top decays t -> cV where …
The study of the top quark's properties is an important part of the LHC programme. In earlier work, we have studied the rare decay $t \to b \bar b c$, using effective operators to capture the effects of physics beyond the Standard Model. However top decay is primarily sensitive to new physics in the sub-TeV energy regime. If this new physics resides at a higher energy scale, then one needs to turn to single-top production. In this paper, we use the $s$-channel and $t$-channel single-top production measurements to constrain the new physics parameter space associated with such contact interactio…
In the framework of topcolor-assisted technicolor (TC2) theory, we calculate the contributions of the scalars(the neutral top-pion $π_{t}^{0}$ and the top-Higgs $h_{t}^{0}$) to the flavor-changing rare top decays $t\to c V V$(V= W, g, $γ$ or Z). Our results show that $h_{t}^{0}$ can enhance the standard model $B_{r}^{SM}(t\longrightarrow cWW)$ by several orders of magnitude for most of the parameter space. The peak of the branching ratio resonance emerges when the top-Higgs mass is between $2m_{W}$ and $m_{t}$. The branching ratio $ B_{r}(t\to c W W)$ can reach $ 10^{-3}$ in the narrow range.
The two Higgs doublet model for the top (T2HDM) is a 2HDM in which the top quark receives a special status, which endows it with a naturally large mass, and also gives rise to unique FC charged and neutral scalar interactions. We calculate the BR of the t->ch and h->tc rare decays in the T2HDM, at 1-loop and tree level. We find that the FC scalar interactions play a significant role in these decays. We find that the BR of these decays at 1-loop level in the T2HDM can be significantly enhanced over the 2HDM-I,II, reaching up to ~10^-4, and that the BR(t->ch) in the T2HDM can be detected at the …
We examine the decays $t\rightarrow cγ$ and $c Z^0$ in the Standard Model with an extra scalar doublet and no discrete symmetry preventing tree-level flavour changing neutral currents. The Yukawa couplings of the new scalars are assumed to be proportional to fermion masses, evading bounds on FCNC's from the light quark sector. These rare top decays may be visible at the SSC.
New physics can manifest itself by an appreciable increase of the decay rate of top quarks in rare flavour-changing final states. Exploiting the large top quark production rate at the LHC, we bound four-fermion operators contributing to non-resonant $t\rightarrow \ell^+\ell^- j$ using different signal regions of the latest LHC searches for $t\rightarrow Zj$. We also provide prospects for the high-luminosity LHC to test these as well as four-fermion operators contributing to $t\rightarrow b\overline{b}j$, based on improved analysis strategies of existing searches. We single out all weakly-coupl…
The recently observed mass difference of the $D^0-\overline{D^0}$ mixing is used to predict the branching ratios of the rare top quark decays $t\to uγ$ and $t\to ug$ in a model independent way using the effective Lagrangian approach. It is found that $Br(t\to uγ)<4\times 10^{-4}$ and $Br(t\to ug)<2\times 10^{-3}$, which still may be within reach of the LHC collider.
We calculate the contributions to the rare decays $B \to X_{s,d} ν\bar ν$ and $B_{s,d} \to l^+l^-$ from one-loop $Z^0$-penguin diagrams in the framework of Topcolor-assisted Technicolor Model. Within the parameter space, we find that: (a) the new contribution from technipions is less than 2% of the standard model prediction; (b) the top-pions can provide a factor of 10 to 30 enhancement to the ratios in question; (c) the topcolor-assisted technicolor model is consistent with the current experimental data.
J/psi production in top quark rare decays is investigated under the framework of NRQCD factorization formalism. Various production channels are studied, and we find that the contributions from the color-singlet quark fragmentation and the color-octet gluon fragmentation are both over 3 orders larger than that from the leading order color-singlet process. The numerical results show that the branching ratio B(t -> c + J/psi + X) is about 10^{-14} in the SM, and 10^{-10} in the MSSM.
A brief overview of the recent measurements of the branching ratio of the rare $K_L^0 \to μ^+ μ^-$ decay in the context of their agreement with the Standard Model (SM) is given. It is shown that KEK result well correlates with the SM and B-physics, whereas the BNL results are in conflict with the SM with the heavy top quark.
We study a version of Two Higgs Doublet Models with non-standard flavor violation in the up quark sector. We find branching ratios for the rare top decays $t\to hc$ and $t\to hu$ that are within reach of current and future colliders, while other flavor constraints from rare $B$ decays and neutral $D$ meson mixing, as well as constraints from Higgs signal strength measurements remain under control. The most prominent collider signature of the considered setup is $pp \to t H \to tt \bar c$, providing continued motivation to search for same-sign tops at the LHC as well as a simple framework to in…
We study the rare top decays $t\to c l_{i} l_{j}(l=τ,μ,or e)$ in the framework of topcolor-assisted technicolor($TC2$) models. We find that the neutral top-pion $π_{t}^{0}$ can produce significant contributions to these processes via the flavor changing couplings $π_{t}^{0} \bar{t} c$ and $π_{t}^{0} l_{i} l_{j}$. For the $π_{t}^{0}$ mass $m_{π_{t}}=150 GeV$ and the parameter $ε=0.08$, the branching ratio $Br$(t$\to c ττ)$ can reach $7.1\times10^{-7}$. Taking into account the constraints of the present experimental limit of the process $μ\to e γ$ on the free parameters of $TC2$ models, we find …
We perform a complete and detailed analysis of the flavor changing neutral current rare top quark decays t-> cl+l- and t->c nu_i bar nu_i at one-loop level in the Standard Model, Two Higgs Doublet Models (I and II) and in MSSM. The branching ratios are very small in all models, O(10^-14), except for the case of the unconstrained MSSM, where they can reach O(10^-6) for e+e- and nu_i bar nu_i, and O(10^-5) for tau+ tau-. This branching ratio is comparable to the ones for t-> c V, cH. We also study the production rates of single top and the forward-backward asymmetry in e+e- -> t cbar and comment…
We calculate the one-loop flavor changing neutral current top quark decay t -> cgg in the Standard Model. We demonstrate that the rate for t -> cgg exceeds the rate for a single gluon emission t -> cg by about two orders of magnitude, while the rate for t -> cq barq (q=u) is slightly smaller than for t -> cg.
We analyze the rare and flavor changing decay of the top quark into a charm quark and a gauge boson in the littlest Higgs model with T-parity (LHT). We calculate the one-loop level contributions from the T-parity odd mirror quarks and gauge bosons. We find that the decay $t\to c V, (V=g,γ,Z)$ in the LHT model can be significantly enhanced relative to those in the Standard Model. Our numerical results show that the top quark FCNC decay can be as large as $Br(t\to cg)\sim 10^{-2}$, $Br(t\to cZ)\sim 10^{-5}$ and $Br(t\to cγ)\sim 10^{-7}$ in the favorite parameter space in the LHT model.
Within the Standard Model the Higgs couplings to fermions and gauge bosons, as function of the particle mass, are predicted to lay on a single line. However, new patterns appear in multi-Higgs models that employ the Froggart-Nielsen mechanism, where the diagonal couplings could lay on different lines and flavor-violating Higgs couplings could appear too. These aspects are studied for a specific model with 3+1 Higgs doublets and a singlet FN field. Constraints on the model are derived from the Higgs search at LHC, and some remarks are presented on their implications for the rare top and Higgs d…
We examine the rare decays $B_s\to l^+l^-$ and $B\to Kl^+l^-$ in the framework of the topcolor-assisted technicolor ($TC2$) model. The contributions of the new particles predicted by this model to these rare decay processes are evaluated. We find that the values of their branching ratios are larger than the standard model predictions by one order of magnitude in wide range of the parameter space. The longitudinal polarization asymmetry of leptons in $B_s \to l^+l^-$ can approach $\ord(10^{-2})$. The forward-backward asymmetry of leptons in $B \to Kl^+l^-$ is not large enough to be measured in …
Flavor changing neutral currents (FCNC) decays t to H + c, t to Z + c, and H to t + bar{c} are discussed in the context of Alternative Left-Right symmetric Models (ALRM) with extra isosinglet heavy fermions where FCNC decays may take place at tree-level and are only suppressed by the mixing between ordinary top and charm quarks, which is poorly constraint by current experimental values. The non-manifest case is also briefly discussed.
The rare top decay t-> c l+l-, which involves flavor violation, is studied as a possible probe of new physics. This decay is analyzed with the simplest Standard Model extensions with additional gauge symmetry formalism. The considered extension is the Left-Right Symmetric Model, including a new neutral gauge boson Z' that allows to obtain the decay at tree level through Flavor Changing Neutral Currents (FCNC) couplings. The neutral gauge boson couplings are considered diagonal but family non-universal in order to induce these FCNC. We find the $BR(t-> c l+l-)~10^{-13} for a range 1 TeV < M_{Z'…
In the so called two Higgs doublet model for the top-quark (T2HDM), first suggested by Das and Kao, the top quark receives a special status, which endows it with a naturally large mass, and also potentially gives rise to large flavor changing neutral currents (FCNC) only in the up-quark sector. In this paper we calculate the branching ratio (BR) for the rare decays t->ch and h->tc (h is a neutral Higgs) in the T2HDM, at tree level and at 1-loop when it exceeds the tree-level. We compare our results to predictions from other versions of 2HDM's and find that the scalar FCNC in the T2HDM can play…
The decay t -> c V (V=γ, Z, g) process in the mirror twin Higgs models with the colorless top partners are studied in this paper. We found that the branching ratios of these decays can in some parameter spaces alter the standard model expectations greatly and may be detectable according to the currently precision electroweak measurements. Thus, the constraints on the model parameters may be obtained from the branching fraction of the decay processes, which may serve as a robust detection to this new physics model.
In the littlest Higgs model with T-parity (LHT), the mirror quarks have flavor structures and will contribute to the top quark flavor changing neutral current. In this work, we perform an extensive investigation of the top quark rare three-body decays $t\to cVV (V=γ,Z,g)$ and $t\to cf\bar{f} (f=b,τ,μ,e)$ at one-loop level. Our results show that the branching ratios of $t\to cgg$ and $t\to cb\bar{b}$ could reach $\mathcal {O}(10^{-3})$ in the favorite parameter space of the littlest Higgs model with T-parity, which implies that these decays may be detectable at the LHC or ILC, while for the oth…
We investigate extremely rare top quark decays at a future proton-proton collider with centre-of-mass energy of 100 TeV. We focus on two decay modes: radiative decay with a $Z$ boson, $t \rightarrow b WZ$, and flavour-changing neutral decay with a Higgs boson, $t \rightarrow h c$, the former being kinematically suppressed with a branching ratio of $\mathcal{O}(10^{-6})$, and the latter highly loop-suppresed, with a branching ratio of $\mathcal{O}(10^{-15})$. We find that $t \rightarrow b WZ$ will be very challenging to observe in top quark pair production, even within well-motivated beyond-the…
The large value of the top quark mass implies that the rare top decays $t \rightarrow b W^+ Z, s W^+ Z$ and $d W^+ Z$, and $t \rightarrow c W^+ W^-$ and $u W^+ W^-$, are kinematically allowed decays so long as $m_t \ge m_W + m_Z + m_{d_i} \approx 171.5 GeV + m_{d_i}$ or $m_t \ge 2m_W + m_{u,c} \approx 160.6 GeV + m_{u,c}$, respectively. The partial decay widths for these decay modes are calculated in the standard model. The partial widths depend sensitively on the precise value of the top quark mass. The branching ratio for $t\rightarrow b W^+ Z$ is as much as $2 \times 10^{-5}$ for $m_t = 200…
The rare radiative flavour changing top decays $t\to cγ$ and $t\to cg$ (and the even rarer $t\to uγ$ and $t\to ug$) have been processes of interest for decades as they offer a key probe for studying top quark properties. However an explicit analytical study of the branching ratios and $CP$ asymmetries resulting from these loop level processes has thus far evaded attention. In this work, we provide the formulation for the $CP$ asymmetry resulting from the total kinetic contribution of the loop integrals and their imaginary parts, as well as an updated numerical computation of the predicted Stan…
We calculate the new contributions to the rare decays $K^+ \to π^+ ν\bar ν$, $K_L \to π^0 ν\bar ν$ and $K_L \to μ^+ μ^-$ from new $Z^0$-penguin and box diagrams induced by the unit-charged scalars $(\tildeπ^\pm, \tilde{H}^\pm, π_1^\pm, π_8^\pm)$ appeared in the Topcolor-assisted technicolor (TC2) models. We find that: (a) the unit-charged top-pion $\tildeπ^\pm$ and b-pion $\tilde{H}^\pm$ can provide large contributions to the rare K-decays if they are relatively light; (b) the size of mixing elements $D_{L,R}^{ij}$ ($i \neq j$) is strongly constrained by the data of $B^0$ meson mixing: $|a_R^{…
{Two supersymmetric decays of the top quark, $\thb$ and $\tstopneu$, are discussed within the framework of the Minimal Supersymmetric Standard Model with radiatively induced breaking of $SU(2)\times U(1)$. The present possibility of detecting these decays, given the available bounds on supersymmetric parameters, is compared with the situation a Next $e^+e^-$ Linear Collider would face if supersymmetric particles were still undiscovered after LEP~II. The indirect implications for $\thb$ and $\tstopneu$ of a possible detection of the bottom quark decay $\bsgamma$ at the Standard Model level are …
Rare kaon processes appear to be particularly suitable to study the extensions of the standard model, especially if the possibility for eventual direct evidence becomes unlikely. In this review, we discuss processes that are important as a test of either the standard model or supergravity. Moreover, some of these are important even for both the standard model and for supergravity. Particular attention is paid to the reduction of uncertainties in the calculation, especially the ones coming from the confinement effects. Recent approaches, such as chiral perturbation theory, the large $N_c$-expan…
