Fring and al in their paper entitled "Strings from position-dependent noncommutativity" have introduced a new set of noncommutative space commutation relations in two space dimensions. It had been shown that any fundamental objects introduced in this space-space non-commutativity are string-like. Taking this result into account, we generalize the seminal work of Fring and al to the case that there is also a maximal length from position-dependent noncommutativity and minimal momentum arising from generalized versions of Heisenberg's uncertainty relations. The existence of maximal length is related to the presence of an extra, first order term in particle's length that provides the basic difference of our analysis with theirs. This maximal length breaks up the well known singularity problem of space time. We establish different representations of this noncommutative space and finally we study some basic and interesting quantum mechanical systems in these new variables.
A minimum length scale of the order of Planck length is a feature of many models of quantum gravity that seek to unify quantum mechanics and gravitation. Recently, Perivolaropoulos in his seminal work [Phys. Rev.D 95, 103523 (2017)] predicted the simultaneous existence of minimal and maximal length measurements of quantum gravity. More recently, we have shown that both measurable lengths can be obtained from position-dependent noncommutativity [J. Phys. A: Math.Theor. 53, 115303 (2020)]. In this paper, we present an alternative derivation of these lengths from non-Hermitian position-dependent …
The model of the position-dependent noncommutativety in quantum mechanics is proposed. We start with a given commutation relations between the operators of coordinates [x^{i},x^{j}]=ω^{ij}(x), and construct the complete algebra of commutation relations, including the operators of momenta. The constructed algebra is a deformation of a standard Heisenberg algebra and obey the Jacobi identity. The key point of our construction is a proposed first-order Lagrangian, which after quantization reproduces the desired commutation relations. Also we study the possibility to localize the noncommutativety.
We introduce a new set of noncommutative space-time commutation relations in two space dimensions. The space-space commutation relations are deformations of the standard flat noncommutative space-time relations taken here to have position dependent structure constants. Some of the new variables are non-Hermitian in the most natural choice. We construct their Hermitian counterparts by means of a Dyson map, which also serves to introduce a new metric operator. We propose PTlike symmetries, i.e.antilinear involutory maps, respected by these deformations. We compute minimal lengths and momenta ari…
The representations of position and momentum operators of a planar phase space having both position and momentum noncommutativity are obtained. Using these representations the dynamics of a particle in a gravitational quantum well is studied to calculate the upper bounds of the noncommutative parameters.
We study the time dependent transitions of quantum forced harmonic oscillator (QFHO) in noncommutative $\mathds{R}^{1,1}$ perturbatively to linear order in the noncommutativity $θ$. We show that the Poisson distribution gets modified, and that the vacuum state evolves into a "squeezed" state rather than a coherent state. The time evolutions of uncertainties in position and momentum in vacuum are also studied and imply interesting consequences for modeling nonlinear phenomena in quantum optics.
The possibility of testing spatial noncommutativity by current experiments on normal quantum scales is investigated. For the case of both position-position and momentum-momentum noncommuting spectra of ions in crossed electric and magnetic fields are studied in the formalism of noncommutative quantum mechanics. In a limit of the kinetic energy approaching its lowest eigenvalue this system possesses non-trivial dynamics. Signals of spatial noncommutativity in the angular momentum are revealed. They are within limits of the measurable accuracy of current experiments. An experimental test of the …
When dealing with the classical limit of two quantum mechanical oscillators on a noncommutative configuration space, the limits corresponding to the removal of configuration-space noncommutativity and position-momentum noncommutativity do not commute. We address this behaviour from the point of view of the phase-space localisation properties of the Wigner functions of coherent states under the two limits.
Classical and quantum mechanics for an extended Heisenberg algebra with canonical commutation relations for position and momentum coordinates are considered. In this approach additional noncommutativity is removed from the algebra by linear transformation of phase space coordinates and transmitted to the Hamiltonian (Lagrangian). This transformation does not change the quadratic form of Hamiltonian (Lagrangian) and Feynman's path integral maintains its well-known exact expression for quadratic systems. The compact matrix formalism is presented and can be easily employed in particular cases. So…
We propose a new relativistic Lorentz-invariant spin-noncommutative algebra. Using the Weyl ordering of noncommutative position operators, we build an analogue of the Moyal-Groenewald product for the proposed algebra. The Lagrange function of an electromagnetic field in the space with spin noncommutativity is constructed. In such a space electromagnetic field becomes non-abelian. A gauge transformation law of this field is also obtained. Exact nonlinear field equations of noncommutative electromagnetic field are derived from the least action principle. Within the perturbative approach we consi…
We consider a two-point spatial lattice approximation to an open string moving in a flat background with B field. It gives a constrained dipole system under the influence of a vector potential. Solving and quantizing this system recover all the essential features of a noncommutative space. In particular, open string interactions induce a canonical product structure on the Hilbert space of the dipole system. It coincides with the usual star product, even though the position operators can be thought of as mutually commuting. Modification of gauge transformations in this noncommutative space also…
We consider Feynman's path integral approach to quantum mechanics with a noncommutativity in position and momentum sectors of the phase space. We show that a quantum-mechanical system with this kind of noncommutativity is equivalent to the another one with usual commutative coordinates and momenta. We found connection between quadratic classical Hamiltonians, as well as Lagrangians, in their commutative and noncommutative regimes. The general procedure to compute Feynman's path integral on this noncommutative phase space with quadratic Lagrangians (Hamiltonians) is presented. Using this approa…
We look in Euclidean $R^4$ for associative star products realizing the commutation relation $[x^μ,x^ν]=iΘ^{μν}(x)$, where the noncommutativity parameters $Θ^{μν}$ depend on the position coordinates $x$. We do this by adopting Rieffel's deformation theory (originally formulated for constant $Θ$ and which includes the Moyal product as a particular case) and find that, for a topology $R^2 \times R^2$, there is only one class of such products which are associative. It corresponds to a noncommutativity matrix whose canonical form has components $Θ^{12}=-Θ^{21}=0$ and $Θ^{34}=-Θ^{43}= θ(x^1,x^2)$, w…
We consider a system of two particles in noncommutative space which is rotationally invariant. It is shown that the coordinates of the center-of-mass position and the coordinates of relative motion satisfy noncommutative algebra with corresponding effective tensors of noncommutativity. The hydrogen atom is studied as a two-particle system. We find the corrections to the energy levels of the hydrogen atom up to the second order over the parameter of noncommutativity.
A planar phase space having both position and momentum noncommutativity is defined in a more inclusive setting than that considered elsewhere. The dynamics of a particle in a gravitational quantum well in this space is studied. The use of the WKB approximation and the virial theorem enable analytic discussions on the effect of noncommutativity. Consistent results are obtained following either commutative space or noncommutative space descriptions. Comparison with recent experimental data with cold neutrons at Grenoble imposes an upper bound on the noncommutative parameter. Also, our results ar…
We have considered the effects of space and momentum noncommutativity separately on the zitterbewegung (ZBW) phenomenon. In the space noncommutativity scenario, it has been expressed that, due to the conservation of momentum, the Fourier decomposition of the expectation value of position does~not change. However, the noncommutative (NC) space corrections to the magnetic dipole moment of electron, that was traditionally perceived to come into play only in the first-order of perturbation theory, appear in the leading-order calculations with the similar structure and numerically the same order, b…
Minimal and maximal uncertainties of position measurements are widely considered possible hallmarks of low-energy quantum as well as classical gravity. While General Relativity describes interactions in terms of spatial curvature, its quantum analogue may also extend to the realm of curved momentum space as suggested, e. g. in the context of Relative Locality in Deformed Special Relativity. Drawing on earlier work, we show in an entirely Born reciprocal, i. e. position and momentum space covariant, way that the quadratic Generalized Extended Uncertainty principle can alternatively be described…
In two-dimensional noncommutive space for the case of both position - position and momentum - momentum noncommuting, the consistent deformed bosonic algebra at the non-perturbation level described by the deformed annihilation and creation operators is investigated. A general relation between noncommutative parameters is fixed from the consistency of the deformed Heisenberg - Weyl algebra with the deformed bosonic algebra. A Fock space is found, in which all calculations can be similarly developed as if in commutative space and all effects of spatial noncommutativity are simply represented by p…
Small corrections to the uncertainty relations, with effects in the ultraviolet and/or infrared, have been discussed in the context of string theory and quantum gravity. Such corrections lead to small but finite minimal uncertainties in position and/or momentum measurements. It has been shown that these effects could indeed provide natural cutoffs in quantum field theory. The corresponding underlying quantum theoretical framework includes small `noncommutative geometric' corrections to the canonical commutation relations. In order to study the full implications on the concept of locality it is…
Perivolaropoulos has recently proposed a position-deformed Heisenberg algebra which includes a maximal length [Phys.Rev.95, 103523 (2017)]. He has shown that this length scale naturally emerges in the context of cosmological particle's horizon or cosmic topology. Following this work, we propose a new deformed algebra and derive the maximal length uncertainty and its corresponding minimal momentum uncertainty from the generalized uncertainty principle. We also construct the corresponding Fourier transform and its inverse representations. Finally, we propose n-dimensional representation of this …
We construct the states of maximal localization taking into account a modification of the commutation relation between position and momentum operators to all orders of the minimum length parameter. To first order, the algebra we use reproduces the one proposed by Kempft, Mangano and Mann. It is emphasized that a minimal length acts as a natural regulator for the theory, thus eliminating the otherwise ever appearing infinities. So, we use our results to calculate the first correction to the Casimir Effect due to the minimal length. We also discuss some of the physical consequences of the existe…
We present a novel generalization of the Heisenberg uncertainty principle which introduces the existence of a maximal observable momentum and at the same time does not entail a minimal indeterminacy in position. The above result is an exact generalized uncertainty principle (GUP), valid at all energy scales. For small values of the deformation parameter $β$, our ansatz is consistent with the usual expression for GUP borrowed from string theory, doubly special relativity and other quantum gravity candidates that provide $β$ with a negative sign. As a preliminary analysis, we study the implicati…
We analyze the emergence of a minimal length for a large class of generalized commutation relations, preserving commutation of the position operators and translation invariance as well as rotation invariance (in dimension higher than one). We show that the construction of the maximally localized states based on squeezed states generally fails. Rather, one must resort to a constrained variational principle.
We consider a Generalized Uncertainty Principle (GUP) framework which predicts a maximal uncertainty in momentum and minimal uncertainties both in position and momentum. We apply supersymmetric quantum mechanics method and the shape invariance condition to obtain the exact harmonic oscillator eigenvalues in this GUP context. We find the supersymmetric partner Hamiltonians and show that the harmonic oscillator belongs to a hierarchy of Hamiltonians with a shift in momentum representation and different masses and frequencies. We also study the effect of a uniform electric field on the harmonic o…
More recently, we have proposed a set of noncommutative space that describes the quantum gravity at the Planck scale [J. Phys. A: Math. Theor. 53, 115303 (2020)]. The interesting significant result we found is that, the generalized uncertainty principle induces a maximal measurable length of quantum gravity. This measurement revealed strong quantum gravitational effects at this scale and predicted a detection of gravity particles with low energies. In the present paper, to make evidence this prediction, we study in this space, the dynamics of a particle with position-dependent mass (PDM) trapp…
A great number of theoretical results are known about log Gromov-Witten invariants, but few calculations are worked out. In this paper we restrict to surfaces and to genus 0 stable log maps of maximal tangency. We ask how various natural components of the moduli space contribute to the log Gromov-Witten invariants. The first such calculation by Gross-Pandharipande-Siebert deals with multiple covers over rigid curves in the log Calabi-Yau setting. As a natural continuation, in this paper we compute the contributions of non-rigid irreducible curves in the log Calabi-Yau setting and that of the u…
