Let $G$ be a reductive complex Lie group acting holomorphically on $X=\mathbb{C}^n$. The (holomorphic) Linearization Problem asks if there is a holomorphic change of coordinates on $\mathbb{C}^n$ such that the $G$-action becomes linear. Equivalently, is there a $G$-equivariant biholomorphism $Φ\colon X\to V$ where $V$ is a $G$-module? There is an intrinsic stratification of the categorical quotient $X /\!/G$, called the Luna stratification, where the strata are labeled by isomorphism classes of representations of reductive subgroups of $G$. Suppose that there is a $Φ$ as above. Then $Φ$ induces a biholomorphism $ϕ\colon X/\!/G\to V/\!/G$ which is stratified, i.e., the stratum of $ X/\!/G$ with a given label is sent isomorphically to the stratum of $V/\!/G$ with the same label.
The counterexamples to the Linearization Problem construct an action of $G$ such that $X/\!/G$ is not stratified biholomorphic to any $V/\!/G$. Our main theorem shows that, for a reductive group $G$ with $G^0=\mathbb{C}^*$, the existence of a stratified biholomorphism of $X/\!/G$ to some $V/\!/G$ is not only necessary but also sufficient for linearization. In fact, we do not have to assume that $X$ is biholomorphic to $\mathbb{C}^n$, only that $X$ is a Stein manifold.
Let f_1,...,f_N be commuting germs of holomorphic diffeomorphisms in C fixing the origin with irrational rationally independent rotation numbers alpha_1,...,alpha_N. We adapt Yoccoz' renormalization of germs to this setting to show that a Brjuno-type condition on simultaneous Diophantine approximability of the rotation numbers is sufficient for simultaneous linearizability of f_1,...,f_N. This generalizes a result of Moser's. In the absence of periodic orbits we show that a weaker arithmetic condition analogous to that of Perez-Marco's for the case of a single germ is sufficent for linearizabi…
We describe all possibilities of existence of non-elementary proper holomorphic maps between non-hyperbolic Reinhardt domains in $\mathbb C^2$ and the corresponding pairs of domains.
We estimate the number of unipotent elements needed to factor a null-homotopic holomorphic map from a finite dimensional reduced Stein spaces $X$ into $\text{SL}_2(\mathbb{C})$.
In this paper we characterize compact Hankel operators with conjugate holomorphic symbols on the Bergman space of bounded convex Reinhardt domains in $\mathbb{C}^2$. We also characterize compactness of Hankel operators with conjugate holomorphic symbols on smooth bounded pseudoconvex complete Reinhardt domains in $\mathbb{C}^2$.
Normality criterion for a family of holomorphic curves that partially share wandering hyperplanes with their derivatives, and holomorphic functions lifted to curves in $P^2(\mathbb{C})$
The loop space $L\mathbb{P}^n$ of the complex projective space $\mathbb{P}^n$ consisting of all $C^k$ or Sobolev $W^{k, \, p}$ maps $S^1 \to \mathbb{P}^n$ is an infinite dimensional complex manifold. We identify a class of holomorphic self-maps of $L\mathbb{P}^n$, including all automorphisms.
The following result is proved: Let $D$ and $D'$ be bounded domains in $\mathbb C^n$, $\partial D$ is smooth, real-analytic, simply connected, and $\partial D'$ is connected, smooth, real-algebraic. Then there exists a proper holomorphic correspondence $f:D\to D'$ if and only if $\partial D$ and $\partial D'$ a locally CR-equivalent. This leads to a characterization of the equivalence relationship between bounded domains in $\mathbb C^n$ modulo proper holomorphic correspondences in terms of CR-equivalence of their boundaries.
Let $X$ be an open Riemann surface. We prove an Oka property on the approximation and interpolation of continuous maps $X \to (\mathbb{C}^*)^2$ by proper holomorphic embeddings, provided that we permit a smooth deformation of the complex structure on $X$ outside a certain set. This generalises and strengthens a recent result of Alarcon and Lopez. We also give a Forstneric-Wold theorem for proper holomorphic embeddings (with respect to the given complex structure) of certain open Riemann surfaces into $(\mathbb{C}^*)^2$.
Let $\mathbb{B}^2$ denote the open unit ball in $\mathbb{C}^2$, and let $p\in \mathbb{C}^2\setminus\overline{\mathbb{B}^2}$. We prove that if $f$ is an analytic function on the sphere $\partial\mathbb{B}^2$ that extends holomorphically in each variable separately and along each complex line through $p$, then $f$ is the trace of a holomorphic function in the ball.
We prove here the Wolff-Denjoy-type theorem for a very large class of pseudoconvex domains in $\mathbb C^n$ that may contain many classes of pseudoconvex domains of finite type and infinite type.
If $V$ is an analytic set in a pseudoconvex domain $Ω$, we show there is always a pseudoconvex domain $G \subseteq Ω$ that contains $V$ and has the property that every bounded holomorphic function on $V$ extends to a bounded holomorphic function on $G$ with the same norm. We find such a $G$ for some particular analytic sets. When $Ω$ is an operhedron we show there is a norm on holomorphic functions on $V$ that can always be preserved by extensions to $Ω$.
We determine topological and algebraic conditions for a germ of holomorphic foliation $\mathcal F(X)$ induced by a generic vector field $X$ on $(\mathbb{C}^{3},0)$ to have a holomorphic first integral, i.e., a germ of holomorphic map $F \colon(\mathbb{C}^{3},0)\longrightarrow(\mathbb{C}^{2},0)$ such that the leaves of $\mathcal F(X)$ are contained in the level curves of $F$.
We prove various representations and density results for Hardy spaces of holomorphic functions for two classes of bounded domains in $\mathbb C^n$, whose boundaries satisfy minimal regularity conditions (namely the classes $C^2$ and $C^{1,1}$ respectively) together with naturally occurring notions of convexity.
We prove that given an open Riemann surface $N,$ there exists an open domain $M\subset N$ homeomorphic to $N$ which properly holomorphically embeds in $\mathbb{C}^2.$ Furthermore, $M$ can be chosen with hyperbolic conformal type. In particular, any open orientable surface admits a complex structure properly holomorphically embedding into $\mathbb{C}^2.$
We give a new proof of Faran's and Lebl's results by means of a new CR-geometric approach and classify all holomorphic mappings from the sphere in $\mathbb C^2$ to Levi-nondegenerate hyperquadrics in $\mathbb C^3$. We use the tools developed by Lamel, which allow us to isolate and study the most interesting class of holomorphic mappings. This family of so-called nondegenerate and transversal maps we denote by $\mathcal F$. For $\mathcal F$ we introduce a subclass $\mathcal N$ of maps which are normalized with respect to the group $\mathcal G$ of automorphisms fixing a given point. With the tec…
Based on the results in [Rei14a] we deduce some topological results concerning holomorphic mappings of Levi-nondegenerate hyperquadrics under biholomorphic equivalence. We study the class $\mathcal F$ of so-called nondegenerate and transversal holomorphic mappings sending locally the sphere in $\mathbb C^2$ to a Levi-nondegenerate hyperquadric in $\mathbb C^3$, which contains the most interesting mappings. We show that from a topological point of view there is a major difference when the target is the sphere or the hyperquadric with signature $(2,1)$. In the first case $\mathcal F$ modulo the …
We present a rigidity property of holomorphic generators on the open unit ball $\mathbb{B}$ of a Hilbert space $H$. Namely, if $f\in\Hol (\mathbb{B},H)$ is the generator of a one-parameter continuous semigroup ${F_t}_{t\geq 0}$ on $\mathbb{B}$ such that for some boundary point $τ\in \partial\mathbb{B}$, the admissible limit $K$-$\lim\limits_{z\toτ}\frac{f(x)}{\|x-τ\|^{3}}=0$, then $f$ vanishes identically on $\mathbb{B}$.
A space $G(M, \varPhi)$ of infinitely differentiable functions in ${\mathbb R}^n$ constructed with a help of a family $\varPhi=\{φ_m\}_{m=1}^{\infty}$ of real-valued functions $φ_m \in~C({\mathbb R}^n)$ and a logarithmically convex sequence $M$ of positive numbers is considered in the article. In view of conditions on $M$ each function of $G(M, \varPhi)$ can be extended to an entire function in ${\mathbb C}^n$. Imposed conditions on $M$ and $\varPhi$ allow to describe the space of such extensions.
In this paper we prove that every open Riemann surface properly embeds in the Special Linear group $SL_2(\mathbb{C})$ as a holomorphic Legendrian curve, where $SL_2(\mathbb{C})$ is endowed with its standard contact structure. As a consequence, we derive the existence of proper, weakly complete, flat fronts in the real hyperbolic space $\mathbb{H}^3$ with arbitrary complex structure.
It is shown that if a proper holomorphic map $f: \mathbb C^n \to \mathbb C^N$, $1<n\le N$, sends a pseudoconvex real analytic hypersurface of finite type into another such hypersurface, then any $n-1$ dimensional component of the critical locus of $f$ intersects both sides of $M$. We apply this result to the problem of boundary regularity of proper holomorphic mappings between bounded domains in $\mathbb C^n$.
Combining the definition of Schwarzian derivative for conformal mappings between Riemannian manifolds given by Osgood and Stowe with that for parametrized curves in Euclidean space given by Ahlfors, we establish injectivity criteria for holomorphic curves $ϕ:\mathbb{D}\to\mathbb{C}^n$. The result can be considered a generalization of a classical condition for univalence of Nehari.
We extend a well-known result, about the unit ball, by H. Alexander to a class of balanced domains in $\mathbb{C}^n, \ n > 1$. Specifically: we prove that any proper holomorphic self-map of a certain type of balanced, finite-type domain in $\mathbb{C}^n, \ n > 1$, is an automorphism. The main novelty of our proof is the use of a recent result of Opshtein on the behaviour of the iterates of holomorphic self-maps of a certain class of domains. We use Opshtein's theorem, together with the tools made available by finiteness of type, to deduce that the aforementioned map is unbranched. The monodrom…
Cartan-Thullen theorem is a basic one in the theory of analytic functions of several complex variables. It states that for any open set $U$ of ${\mathbb C}^k$, the following conditions are equivalent: (a) $U$ is a domain of existence, (b) $U$ is a domain of holomorphy and (c) $U$ is holomorphically convex. On the other hand, when $f \, (\, =(f_1,f_2,\cdots,f_n)\, )$ is a $\mathbb C^n$-valued function on an open set $U$ of $\mathbb C^{k_1}\times\mathbb C^{k_2}\times\cdots\times\mathbb C^{k_n}$, $f$ is said to be $\mathbb C^n$-analytic, if $f$ is complex analytic and for any $i$ and $j$, $i\not=…
We obtain a Runge approximation theorem for holomorphic Legendrian curves and immersions in the complex projective $3$-space $\mathbb{CP}^3$, both from open and compact Riemann surfaces, and we prove that the space of Legendrian immersions from an open Riemann surface into $\mathbb{CP}^3$ is path connected. We also show that holomorphic Legendrian immersions from Riemann surfaces of finite genus and at most countably many ends, none of which are point ends, satisfy the Calabi-Yau property. Coupled with the Runge approximation theorem, we infer that every open Riemann surface embeds into $\math…
We show that any function $f:\mathbb{H}^n\to\mathbb{H}$ with $f(z+c)=f(z)+c$, $z\in\mathbb{H}^n$, for some $c>0$ has a property that any limit function of a family $\{\frac{f(tz)}{t}\}_{t>0}$ when $t\to\infty$ is linear.
As outlined below, this paper is devoted to a Carleson-type-measure-based study of the holomorphic Campanato $2$-space on the open unit ball $\mathbb B_n$ of $\mathbb C^n$, comprising all Hardy $2$-functions whose oscillations in non-isotropic metric balls on the compact unit sphere $\mathbb S_n$ are proportional to some power of the radius other than the dimension $n\ge 1$.
Let $M$\/ be a subharmonic function with Riesz measure $μ_M$ on the unit disk $\mathbb D$ in the complex plane $\mathbb C$. Let $f$ be a nonzero holomorphic function on $\mathbb D$ such that $f$ vanishes on ${\sf Z}\subset \mathbb D$, and satisfies $|f| \leq \exp M$ on $\mathbb D$. Then restrictions on the growth of $μ_M$ near the boundary of $D$ imply certain restrictions on the distribution of $\sf Z$. We give a quantitative study of this phenomenon in terms of special non-radial test functions constructed using $ρ$-trigonometrically convex functions.
In this paper, we give a general boundary Schwarz lemma for holomorphic mappings between unit balls in any dimensions. It is proved that if the mapping $f\in C^{1+α}$ at $z_0\in \partial \mathbb B^n$ with $f(z_0)=w_0\in \partial \mathbb B^N$ for any $n,N\geq 1$, then the Jacobian matrix $J_f(z_0)$ maps the tangent space $T_{z_0}(\partial \mathbb B^n)$ to $T_{w_0}(\partial \mathbb B^N)$, and the holomorphic tangent space $T^{(1,0)}_{z_0}(\partial \mathbb B^n)$ to $T^{(1,0)}_{w_0}(\partial \mathbb B^N)$ as well.
We provide a necessary condition for the existence of a 3-point holomorphic interpolant $F:\mathbb{D}\longrightarrowΩ_n$, $n\geq 2$. Our condition is inequivalent to the necessary conditions hitherto known for this problem. The condition generically involves a single inequality and is reminiscent of the Schwarz lemma. We combine some of the ideas and techniques used in our result on the $\mathcal{O}(\mathbb{D},Ω_n)$-interpolation problem to establish a Schwarz lemma -- which may be of independent interest -- for holomorphic correspondences from $\mathbb{D}$ to a general planar domain $Ω\Subset…
In this paper we construct for every integer $n>1$ a complex manifold of dimension $n$ which is exhausted by an increasing sequence of biholomorphic images of $\mathbb C^n$ (i.e., a long $\mathbb C^n$), but it does not admit any nonconstant holomorphic or plurisubharmonic functions. Furthermore, we introduce new biholomorphic invariants of a complex manifold $X$, the stable core and the strongly stable core, that are based on the long term behavior of hulls of compact sets with respect to an exhaustion of $X$. We show that every compact polynomially convex set $B\subset \mathbb C^n$ which is t…
Let $M$ be a connected open Riemann surface. We prove that the space $\mathscr L(M,\mathbb C^{2n+1})$ of all holomorphic Legendrian immersions of $M$ into $\mathbb C^{2n+1}$, $n\geq 1$, endowed with the standard holomorphic contact structure, is weakly homotopy equivalent to the space $\mathscr C(M,\mathbb S^{4n-1})$ of continuous maps from $M$ to the sphere $\mathbb S^{4n-1}$. If $M$ has finite topological type, then these spaces are homotopy equivalent. We determine the homotopy groups of $\mathscr L(M,\mathbb C^{2n+1})$ in terms of the homotopy groups of $\mathbb S^{4n-1}$. It follows that …
This note addresses monotonic growths and logarithmic convexities of the weighted ($(1-t^2)^αdt^2$, $-\infty<α<\infty$, $0<t<1$) integral means $\mathsf{A}_{α,β}(f,\cdot)$ and $\mathsf{L}_{α,β}(f,\cdot)$ of the mixed area $(πr^2)^{-β}A(f,r)$ and the mixed length $(2πr)^{-β}L(f,r)$ ($0\leβ\le 1$ and $0<r<1$) of $f(r\mathbb D)$ and $\partial f(r\mathbb D)$ under a holomorphic map $f$ from the unit disk $\mathbb D$ into the finite complex plane $\mathbb C$.
Let $Σ= \mathbb B^n/Γ$ be a complex hyperbolic space with discrete subgroup $Γ$ of the automorphism group of the unit ball $\mathbb B^n$ and $Ω$ be a quotient of $\mathbb B^n \times\mathbb B^n$ under the diagonal action of $Γ$ which is a holomorphic $\mathbb B^n$-fiber bundle over $Σ$. The goal of this article is to investigate the relation between symmetric differentials of $Σ$ and the weighted $L^2$ holomorphic functions of $Ω$. If there exists a holomorphic function on $Ω$ and it vanishes up to $k$-th order on the maximal compact complex variety in $Ω$, then there exists a symmetric differe…
Let $f$ be a nonzero holomorphic function in the unit ball $\mathbb B$ of the $n$-dimensional complex Euclidean space $\mathbb C^n$ such that the function $f$ vanishes on the set ${\sf Z}\subset \mathbb B$ and satisfies the constraint $|f|\leq \exp M$ on $\mathbb B$, where $M\not\equiv \pm \infty$ is $δ$-subharmonic function on $\mathbb B$ with Riesz charge $μ_M$. We give a scale of integral uniform constraints from above on the distribution of the set ${\sf Z}$ via the charge $ν_M$ in terms of $(2n-2)$-Hausdorff measure of the set $\sf Z$, as well as test convex radial functions and $ρ$-subsp…
In this paper, we study the gap rigidity phenomenon for proper holomorphic maps between balls of different dimension. We show that any $F\in prop_3({\mathbb{B}}^n, {\mathbb{B}} ^N)$, with $3n<N\leq 4n-7$ and $n\geq 7$, is equivalent to a map of the form $(G,0)$ with $G\in Rat ({\mathbb{B}}^n,{\mathbb{B}}^{3n})$. The main ingredients for the proof of our main theorem are the normal form obtained by Huang-Ji-Xu and a lemma of the first author.
We prove that the image of a finely holomorphic map on a fine domain in $\mathbb{C}$ is pluripolar subset of $\mathbb{C}^{n}$. We also discuss the relationship between pluripolar hulls and finely holomorphic function.
This paper re-develops the Nevanlinna theory for meromorphic functions on $\mathbb C$ in the viewpoint of holomorphic forms. According to our observation, Nevanlinna's functions can be formulated by a holomorphic form. Applying this thought to Riemann surfaces, one then extends the definition of Nevanlinna's functions using a holomorphic form $\mathscr S$. With the new settings, an analogue of Nevanlinna theory on \emph{weak $\mathscr S$-exhausted Riemann surfaces} is obtained, which is viewed as a generalization of the classical Nevanlinna theory on $\mathbb C$ and $\mathbb D.$
Given $N$ a non generic smooth CR submanifold of $\C^L$, $N=\{(\n,h(\n))\}$ where $\n$ is generic in $\C^{L-n}$ and $h$ is a CR map from $\n$ into $\C^n$. We prove, using only elementary tools, that if $h$ is decomposable at $p'\in \n$ then any decomposable CR distribution on $N$ at $p=(p',h(p'))$ extends holomorphically to a complex transversal wedge. This gives an elementary proof of the well known equivalent for totally real non generic submanifolds, i.e if $N$ is a smooth totally real submanifold of $\C^L$ any continuous function on $N$ admits a holomorphic extension to a complex transvers…
In 1955, Lehto showed that, for every measurable function $ψ$ on the unit circle $\mathbb T,$ there is function $f$ holomorphic in the unit disc $\mathbb D,$ having $ψ$ as radial limit a.e. on $\mathbb T.$ We consider an analogous boundary value problem, where the unit disc is replaced by a Stein domain on a complex manifold and radial approach to a boundary point $p$ is replaced by (asymptotically) total approach to $p.$
In this paper we survey some recent contributions by the authors to the theory of null holomorphic curves in the complex Euclidean space $\mathbb C^3$, as well as their applications to null holomorphic curves in the special linear group $SL_2(\mathbb C)$, minimal surfaces in the Euclidean space $\mathbb R^3$, and constant mean curvature one surfaces (Bryant surfaces) in the hyperbolic 3-space $\mathbb H^3$. The paper is an expanded version of the lecture given by the second named author at the Abel Symposium in Trondheim, Norway, in July 2013.
We study general properties of holomorphic isometric embeddings of complex unit balls $\mathbb B^n$ into bounded symmetric domains of rank $\ge 2$. In the first part, we study holomorphic isometries from $(\mathbb B^n,kg_{\mathbb B^n})$ to $(Ω,g_Ω)$ with non-minimal isometric constants $k$ for any irreducible bounded symmetric domain $Ω$ of rank $\ge 2$, where $g_D$ denotes the canonical Kähler-Einstein metric on any irreducible bounded symmetric domain $D$ normalized so that minimal disks of $D$ are of constant Gaussian curvature $-2$. In particular, results concerning the upper bound of the …
Given a domain of holomorphy $D$ in $\mathbb{C}^N$, $N\geq 2$, we show that the set of holomorphic functions in $D$ whose cluster sets along any finite length paths to the boundary of $D$ is maximal, is residual, densely lineable and spaceable in the space $\mathcal{O}(D)$ of holomorphic functions in $D$. Besides, if $D$ is a strictly pseudoconvex domain in $\mathbb{C}^N$, and if a suitable family of smooth curves $γ(x,r)$, $x\in bD$, $r\in [0,1)$, ending at a point of $bD$ is given, then we exhibit a spaceable, densely lineable and residual subset of $\mathcal{O}(D)$, every element $f$ of whi…
Let $D$ be a nonempty domain in $\mathbb C^n$. We give a scale of necessary conditions for the distribution of the zero set of holomorphic function $f$ on domain $D\subset {\mathbb C}^n$ under a restriction on its growth $|f|\leq \exp M$, where $M\not\equiv -\infty$ is a subharmonic function. If $n=1$, $D\neq \mathbb C$ is simply connected, and $M$ is continuous, then this conditions are sufficient.
Let $Ω\Subset\mathbb{C}^{n}$ be a domain with smooth boundary, $k\in\mathbb{N}$. It is shown that the integral of a holomorphic function in $L^1(Ω)$ may be represented as the integral of this function against a smooth function vanishing to order $k-1$ on $bΩ$. An application for a smoothing property of the Bergman projection for conjugate holomorphic functions is given.
The Fock-Bargmann-Hartogs domain $D_{n,m}(μ)$ ($μ>0$) in $\mathbb{C}^{n+m}$ is defined by the inequality $\|w\|^2<e^{-μ\|z\|^2},$ where $(z,w)\in \mathbb{C}^n\times \mathbb{C}^m$, which is an unbounded non-hyperbolic domain in $\mathbb{C}^{n+m}$. Recently, Tu-Wang obtained the rigidity result that proper holomorphic self-mappings of $D_{n,m}(μ)$ are automorphisms for $m\geq 2$, and found a counter-example to show that the rigidity result isn't true for $D_{n,1}(μ)$. In this article, we obtain a classification of proper holomorphic mappings between $D_{n,1}(μ)$ and $D_{N,1}(μ)$ with $N<2n$.
In this paper, we establish Lipschitz conditions for the norm of holomorphic mappings between the unit ball $\mathbb{B}^n$ in $\mathbb{C}^n$ and $X,$ a complex normed space. This extends the work of Djordjević and Pavlović.
We construct holomorphically varying families of Fatou-Bieberbach domains with given centres in the complement of any compact polynomially convex subset $K$ of $\mathbb C^n$ for $n>1$. This provides a simple proof of the recent result of Yuta Kusakabe to the effect that the complement $\mathbb C^n\setminus K$ of any polynomially convex subset $K$ of $\mathbb C^n$ is an Oka manifold. The analogous result is obtained with $\mathbb C^n$ replaced by any Stein manifold with the density property.
