In this work, we study non-equilibrium dynamics in Floquet conformal field theories (CFTs) in 1+1D, in which the driving Hamiltonian involves the energy-momentum density spatially modulated by an arbitrary smooth function. This generalizes earlier work which was restricted to the sine-square deformed type of Floquet Hamiltonians, operating within a $\mathfrak{sl}_2$ sub-algebra. Here we show remarkably that the problem remains soluble in this generalized case which involves the full Virasoro algebra, based on a geometrical approach. It is found that the phase diagram is determined by the stroboscopic trajectories of operator evolution. The presence/absence of spatial fixed points in the operator evolution indicates that the driven CFT is in a heating/non-heating phase, in which the entanglement entropy grows/oscillates in time. Additionally, the heating regime is further subdivided into a multitude of phases, with different entanglement patterns and spatial distribution of energy-momentum density, which are characterized by the number of spatial fixed points. Phase transitions between these different heating phases can be achieved simply by changing the duration of application of the driving Hamiltonian. We demonstrate the general features with concrete CFT examples and compare the results to lattice calculations and find remarkable agreement.
Classification of the non-equilibrium quantum many-body dynamics is a challenging problem in condensed matter physics and statistical mechanics. In this work, we study the basic question that whether a (1+1) dimensional conformal field theory (CFT) is stable or not under a periodic driving with $N$ non-commuting Hamiltonians. Previous works showed that a Floquet (or periodically driven) CFT driven by certain $SL_2$ deformed Hamiltonians exhibit both non-heating (stable) and heating (unstable) phases. In this work, we show that the phase diagram depends on the types of driving Hamiltonians. In …
We propose a general method of cooling -- periodic driving generated by spatially deformed Hamiltonians -- and study it in general one-dimensional quantum critical systems described by a conformal field theory. Our protocol is able to efficiently cool a finite-temperature Gibbs (mixed) state down to zero temperature at prescribed sub-regions exponentially rapidly in Floquet time cycles. At the same time, entropy and energy are transferred and localized to the complementary regions that shrink with time. We derive these conclusions through an exact analytic solution of the full time evolution o…
Conformal field theories (CFT) play an important role in quantum field theories as they allow for exact studies that are hard to access without the conformal symmetries in place. A remarkable recent development is the application of conformal field theory to periodically driven systems, the so-called Floquet-driven CFTs. A number of recent works have found that there are classes of periodically driven (1+1)-dimensional CFTs that can be analytically solved, and that show both heating and non-heating phases, as well as unusual properties in terms of information scrambling. Hitherto, most results…
Given a $generic$ two-dimensional conformal field theory (CFT), we propose an analytically solvable setup to study the Floquet dynamics of the CFT, i.e., the dynamics of a CFT subject to a periodic driving. A complete phase diagram in the parameter space can be analytically obtained within our setup. We find two phases: the heating phase and the non-heating phase. In the heating phase, the entanglement entropy keeps growing linearly in time, indicating that the system keeps absorbing energy; in the non-heating phase, the entanglement entropy oscillates periodically in time, i.e., the system is…
Conformal quantum mechanics has been proposed to be the CFT$_1$ dual to AdS$_2$. The $N$-point correlation function that satisfy conformal constraints have been constructed from a non-conformal vacuum and the insertion of a non-primary operator. The main goal of this paper is to find an interpretation of this oddness. For this purpouse, we study possible gravitational dual models and propose a two-dimensional dilaton gravity with a massless fermion for the description of conformal quantum mechanics. We find a universal correspondence between states in the conformal quantum mechanics model and …
Virasoro irregular conformal block is presented as the expectation value of Jack-polynomials of the beta-deformed Penner-type matrix model and is compared with the inner product of Gaiotto states with arbitrary rank. It is confirmed that there are non-trivial modifications of the Gaiotto states due to the normalization of the states. The relation between the two is explicitly checked for rank 2 irregular conformal block.
We propose $q$-deformation of the Gamayun-Iorgov-Lisovyy formula for Painlevé $τ$ function. Namely we propose formula for $τ$ function for $q$-difference Painlevé equation corresponding to $A_7^{(1)}{}'$ surface (and $A_1^{(1)}$ symmetry) in Sakai's classification. In this formula $τ$ function equals the series of $q$-Virasoro Whittaker conformal blocks (equivalently Nekrasov partition functions for pure $SU(2)$ 5d theory).
We describe the generators of kappa-conformal transformations, leaving invariant the kappa-deformed d'Alembert equation. In such a way one obtains the conformal extension of the off-shell spin zero realization of kappa-deformed Poincare algebra. Finally the algebraic structure of kappa-deformed conformal algebra is discussed.

We construct a q-deformed version of the conformal quantum mechanics model of de Alfaro, Fubini and Furlan for which the deformation parameter is complex and the unitary time evolution of the system is preserved. We also study differential calculus on the q-deformed quantum phase space associated with such system.
In this paper we consider the energy and momentum transport in (1+1)-dimension conformal field theories (CFTs) that are deformed by an irrelevant operator $T\bar{T}$, using the integrability based generalized hydrodynamics, and holography. The two complementary methods allow us to study the energy and momentum transport after the in-homogeneous quench, derive the exact non-equilibrium steady states (NESS) and calculate the Drude weights and the diffusion constants. Our analysis reveals that all of these quantities satisfy universal formulae regardless of the underlying CFT, thereby generalizin…
The dynamical symmetries of $1+1$-dimensional Matrix Partial Differential Equations with a Calogero potential (with/without the presence of an extra oscillatorial De Alfaro-Fubini-Furlan, DFF, damping term) are investigated. The first-order invariant differential operators induce several invariant algebras and superalgebras. Besides the $sl(2)\oplus u(1)$ invariance of the Calogero Conformal Mechanics, an $osp(2|2)$ invariant superalgebra, realized by first-order and second-order differential operators, is obtained. The invariant algebras with an infinite tower of generators are given by the u…
The generic non-extremal Kerr-Newman black holes are holographically dual to hidden conformal field theories in two different pictures. The two pictures can be merged together to the CFT duals in general picture that are generated by $SL(2,\mathbb{Z})$ modular group. We find some extensions of the conformal symmetry generators that yield an extended local family of $SL(2,\mathbb{R})_L \times SL(2,\mathbb{R})_R$ hidden conformal symmetries for the Kerr-Newman black holes parameterized by one deformation parameter. The family of deformed hidden conformal symmetry for Kerr-Newman black holes also…
We consider the out-of-equilibrium transport in $T\bar{T}$-deformed (1+1)-dimension conformal field theories (CFTs). The theories admit two disparate approaches, integrability and holography, which we make full use of in order to compute the transport quantities, such as the the exact non-equilibrium steady state currents. We find perfect agreements between the results obtained from these two methods, which serve as the first checks of the $T\bar{T}$-deformed holographic correspondence from the dynamical standpoint. It turns out that integrability also allows us to compute the momentum diffusi…
We discuss conformal symmetry on the two dimensional noncommutative plane equipped with Moyal product in the twist deformed context. We show that the consistent use of the twist procedure leads to results which are free from ambiguities. This lends support to the importance of the use of twist symmetries in noncommutative geometry.
We examine some of the standard features of primary fields in the framework of a $q$-deformed conformal field theory. By introducing a $q$-OPE between the energy momentum tensor and a primary field, we derive the $q$-analog of the conformal Ward identities for correlation functions of primary fields. We also obtain solutions to these identities for the two-point function.
We explicitly compute the local invariants (heat kernel coefficients) of a conformally deformed non-commutative $d$-torus using multiple operator integrals. We derive a recursive formula that easily produces an explicit expression for the local invariants of any order $k$ and in any dimension $d$. Our recursive formula can conveniently produce all formulas related to the modular operator, which before were obtained in incremental steps for $d\in\{2,4\}$ and $k\in\{0,2,4\}$. We exemplify this by writing down some known ($k=2$, $d=2$) and some novel ($k=2$, $d\geq 3$) formulas in the modular ope…
A q-analogue of four dimensional conformally invariant field theory based on the quantum algebra U_{q}(so(4,2)) is proposed. The two- and three-point correlation functions are calculated. The construction is elaborated in order to fit the Hopf algebra structure.
We claim that if by a choice of the couplings the theory can be made conformally invariant (vanishing of the beta functions) it is automatically finite and vice versa. This is demonstrated by explicit example in supersymmetric gauge theory. The formalism is then applied to the beta deformed ${\cal N}=4$ SYM theory and it is shown that the requirement of conformal invariance = finiteness can be achieved for any complex parameter of deformations.
We propose a symmetry of $T\bar T$ deformed 2D CFT, which preserves the trace relation. The deformed conformal killing equation is obtained. Once we consider the background metric runs with the deformation parameter $μ$, the deformation contributes an additional term in conformal killing equation, which plays the role of renormalization group flow of metric. The conformal symmetry coincides with the fixed point. On the gravity side, this deformed conformal killing equation can be described by a new boundary condition of AdS$_3$. In addition, based on the deformed conformal killing equation, we…
We find generators of the conformal symmetry for the class of Kerr-Newman-NUT-AdS black holes from the deformed scalar probe equation. We find two classes of solutions for the generators (also known as conformal J and Q pictures). The two classes of deformed generators are the extension of similar generators for the regular conformal symmetry. Moreover, we find that the two pictures can be generalized and extended into a general picture. In each picture, the generators produce an extended local family of SL(2,R)_L \times SL(2,R)_R hidden conformal symmetries for the Kerr-Newman-NUT-AdS black h…
We study the properties {of a conformal field theory} (CFT) driven periodically with a continuous protocol characterized by a frequency $ω_D$. Such a drive, in contrast to its discrete counterparts (such as square pulses or periodic kicks), does not admit exact analytical solution for the evolution operator $U$. In this work, we develop a Floquet perturbation theory which provides an analytic, albeit perturbative, result for $U$ that matches exact numerics in the large drive amplitude limit. We find that the drive yields the well-known heating (hyperbolic) and non-heating (elliptic) phases sep…
We present a new geometric approach to Floquet many-body systems described by inhomogeneous conformal field theory in 1+1 dimensions. It is based on an exact correspondence with dynamical systems on the circle that we establish and use to prove existence of (non)heating phases characterized by the (absence) presence of fixed or higher-periodic points of coordinate transformations encoding the time evolution: Heating corresponds to energy and excitations concentrating exponentially fast at unstable such points while nonheating to pseudoperiodic motion. We show that the heating rate (serving as …
I report on work on a Lagrangian formulation for the simplest 1+1 dimensional integrable hierarchies. This formulation makes the relationship between conformal field theories and (quantized) 1+1 dimensional integrable hierarchies very clear.
This paper is presented on the occasion of 60-th birthday of Jose Adolfo de Azcarraga who in his very rich scientific curriculum vitae has also a chapter devoted to studies of quantum-deformed symmetries, in particular deformations of relativistic and Galilean space-time symmetries [1-4]. In this paper we provide new steps toward describing the $κ$-deformed D=4 conformal group transformations. We consider the quantization of D=4 conformal group with dimensionful deformation parameter $κ$. Firstly we discuss the noncommutativity following from the Lie-Poisson structure described by the light-co…
We investigate quantum deformation of conformal algebras by constructing the quantum space for $sl_q(4,C)$. The differential calculus on the quantum space and the action of the quantum generators are studied. We derive deformed $su(4)$ and $su(2,2)$ algebras from the deformed $sl(4)$ algebra using the quantum 4-spinor and its conjugate spinor. The 6-vector in $so_q(4,2)$ is constructed as a tensor product of two sets of 4-spinors. The reality condition for the 6-vector and that for the generators are found. The q-deformed Poincar{é} algebra is extracted as a closed subalgebra.
We study the conformal invariance of non-planar beta-deformed N=4 SYM theory using the coupling constant reduction (CCR) formalism. We show that up to order g^10, differently from the planar case, we can remove the scheme dependence in the definition of the theory without reducing to the real beta case. We also compute the gauge beta function up to four loops and see that the generalized finiteness theorems proposed in [hep-th: 0705.1483] still hold.
We study the \cal{N}=1 SU(N) SYM theory which is a marginal deformation of the \cal{N}=4 theory, with a complex deformation parameter β. We consider the large N limit and study perturbatively the conformal invariance condition. We find that finiteness requires reality of the deformation parameter β.
Generators of the super-Poincaré algebra in the non-(anti)commutative superspace are represented using appropriate higher-derivative operators defined in this quantum superspace. Also discussed are the analogous representations of the conformal and superconformal symmetry generators in the deformed spaces. This construction is obtained by generalizing the recent work of Wess et al on the Poincaré generators in the $θ$-deformed Minkowski space, or by using the substitution rules we derived on the basis of the phase-space structures of non-(anti)commutative-space variables. Even with the nonzero…

Within the standard quantum mechanics a q-deformation of the simplest N=2 supersymmetry algebra is suggested. Resulting physical systems do not have conserved charges and degeneracies in the spectra. Instead, superpartner Hamiltonians are q-isospectral, i.e. the spectrum of one can be obtained from another by the q^2-factor scaling. A special class of the self-similar potentials is shown to obey the dynamical conformal symmetry algebra su_q(1,1). These potentials exhibit exponential spectra and corresponding raising and lowering operators satisfy the q-deformed harmonic oscillator algebra of B…
We compute the Hagedorn temperature of $μT \bar T + \varepsilon_+ J \bar T + \varepsilon_-T \bar J$ deformed CFT using the universal kernel formula for the thermal partition function. We find a closed analytic expression for the free energy and the Hagedorn temperature as a function of $μ$, $\varepsilon_+$, and $\varepsilon_-$ for the case of a compact scalar boson by taking the large volume limit. We also compute the Hagedorn temperature for the single trace deformed $AdS_3 \times S^1 \times T^3 \times S^3$ using holographic methods. We identify black hole configurations whose thermodynamics …
We consider a full Leigh-Strassler deformation of the ${\cal N}=4$ SYM theory and look for conditions under which the theory would be conformally invariant and finite. Applying the algorithm of perturbative adjustments of the couplings we construct a family of theories which are conformal up to 3 loops in the non-planar case and up to 4 loops in the planar one. We found particular solutions in the planar case when the conformal condition seems to be exhausted in the one loop order. Some of them happen to be unitary equivalent to the real beta-deformed ${\cal N}=4$ SYM theory, while others are …
We study the energy and entanglement dynamics of $(1+1)$D conformal field theories (CFTs) under a Floquet drive with the sine-square deformed (SSD) Hamiltonian. Previous work has shown this model supports both a non-heating and a heating phase. Here we analytically establish several robust and `super-universal' features of the heating phase which rely on conformal invariance but not on the details of the CFT involved. First, we show the energy density is concentrated in two peaks in real space, a chiral and anti-chiral peak, which leads to an exponential growth in the total energy. The peak lo…
Unitary principal series representations of the conformal group appear in the dS/CFT correspondence. These are infinite dimensional irreducible representations, without highest weights. In earlier work of Guijosa and the author it was shown for the case of two-dimensional de Sitter, there was a natural q-deformation of the conformal group, with q a root of unity, where the unitary principal series representations become finite-dimensional cyclic unitary representations. Formulating a version of the dS/CFT correspondence using these representations can lead to a description with a finite-dimens…
We study the general solution of the Yang-Baxter equation with deformed $sl(2)$ symmetry. The universal R operator acting on tensor products of arbitrary representations is obtained in spectral decomposition and in integral forms. The results for eigenvalues, eigenfunctions and integral kernel appear as deformations of the ones in the rational case. They provide a basis for the construction of integrable quantum systems generalizing the XXZ spin models to the case of arbitrary not necessarily finite-dimensional representations on the sites.
The so-called homogeneous Yang-Baxter (YB) deformations can be considered a non-abelian generalization of T-duality--shift--T-duality (TsT) transformations. TsT transformations are known to preserve conformal symmetry to all orders in $α'$. Here we argue that (unimodular) YB deformations of a bosonic string also preserve conformal symmetry, at least to two-loop order. We do this by showing that, starting from a background with no NSNS-flux, the deformed background solves the $α'$-corrected supergravity equations to second order in the deformation parameter. At the same time we determine the re…
The $J\bar T$ deformation, built from the components of the stress tensor and of a $U(1)$ current, is a universal irrelevant deformation of two-dimensional CFTs that preserves the left-moving conformal symmetry, while breaking locality on the right-moving side. Operators in the $J\bar T$-deformed CFT are naturally labeled by the left-moving position and right-moving momentum and transform in representations of the one-dimensional extended conformal group. We derive an all-orders formula for the spectrum of conformal dimensions and charges of the deformed CFT, which we cross-check at leading or…
We propose and investigate the thermodynamic Bethe ansatz equations for the minimal $W_p^N$ models~(associated with the $A_{N-1}$ Lie algebra) perturbed by the least~($Z_N$ invariant) primary field $Φ_N$. Our results reproduce the expected ultraviolet and infrared regimes. In particular for the positive sign of the perturbation our equations describe the behaviour of the ground state flowing from the $W_p^N$ model to the next $W_{p-1}^N$ fixed point.
We study five dimensional AGT correspondence by means of the q-deformed beta-ensemble technique. We provide a special basis of states in the q-deformed CFT Hilbert space consisting of generalized Macdonald polynomials, derive the loop equations for the beta-ensemble and obtain the factorization formulas for the corresponding matrix elements. We prove the spectral duality for Nekrasov functions and discuss its meaning for conformal blocks. We also clarify the relation between topological strings and q-Liouville vertex operators.
We show that $T \bar T, J \bar T$ and $J T_a$ - deformed classical CFTs possess an infinite set of symmetries that take the form of a field-dependent generalization of two-dimensional conformal transformations. If, in addition, the seed CFTs possess an affine $U(1)$ symmetry, we show that it also survives in the deformed theories, again in a field-dependent form. These symmetries can be understood as the infinitely-extended conformal and $U(1)$ symmetries of the underlying two-dimensional CFT, seen through the prism of the "dynamical coordinates" that characterise each of these deformations. W…
We discuss in the planar approximation the effect of double-trace deformations on CFT's. We show that this large class of models posses a conformal window describing a non-trivial flow between two fixed points of the renormalization group, and reveal the presence of a resonance which we associate to the remnant of a dilaton pole. As the conformal window shrinks to zero measure the theory undergoes a conformal phase transition separating a symmetric from a nonsymmetric phase. The recently conjectured strongly coupled branch of non-supersymmetric, non-abelian gauge theories with a large number o…
We show that the gamma_i-deformation, which was proposed as candidate gauge theory for a non-supersymmetric three-parameter deformation of the AdS/CFT correspondence, is not conformally invariant due to a running double-trace coupling - not even in the 't Hooft limit. Moreover, this non-conformality cannot be cured when we extend the theory by adding at tree-level arbitrary multi-trace couplings that obey certain minimal consistency requirements. Our findings suggest a possible connection between this breakdown of conformal invariance and a puzzling divergence recently encountered in the integ…
We consider mass-deformed conformal gauge theories (mCGT) and investigate the scaling behaviour of hadronic observables as a function of the fermion mass. Applying renormalization group arguments directly to matrix elements, we find m_H ~ m^{1/(1+gamma*)} and F ~ m^{η_F(gamma*)} for the decay constants, thereby generalizing our results from a previous paper to the entire spectrum. We derive the scaling law m_H m^{1/(1+gamma*)} using the Hellmann-Feynman theorem, and thus provide a derivation which does not rely on renormalization group arguments. Using the new results we reiterate, on the phen…
We use the exact expression for the S parameter in the perturbative region of the conformal window to establish its dependence on the explicit introduction of fermion masses. We demonstrate that the relative ordering with which one sends to zero either the fermion mass or the external momentum leads to drastically different limiting values of S. Our results apply to any fermion matter representation and can be used as benchmark for the determination of certain relevant properties of the conformal window of any generic vector like gauge theory with fermionic matter. We finally suggest the exist…
We perform conformal perturbation theory by marginal operators to first order. A suitable renormalization method is needed that makes the conformal invariance of the deformed correlation functions manifest. Combining the embedding space formalism with the dimensional regularization, we explicitly check that the deformed and renormalized two and three point functions are conformally invariant.
We study a higher order conformally coupled scalar tensor theory endowed with a covariant geometric constraint relating the scalar curvature with the Gauss-Bonnet scalar. It is a particular Horndeski theory including a canonical kinetic term but without shift or parity symmetry for the scalar. The theory also stems from a Kaluza-Klein reduction of a well defined higher dimensional metric theory. Properties of an asymptotically flat spherically symmetric black hole are analyzed, and new slowly rotating and radiating extensions are found. Through disformal transformations of the static configura…
We study perturbative amplitudes in a large class of theories obtained by marginal deformations of the N=4 supersymmetric Yang-Mills. We find that planar amplitudes in the deformed theories are closely related to planar amplitudes in the original N=4 SYM. For some classes of deformations the amplitudes essentially coincide with the N=4 amplitudes to all orders in planar perturbation theory. For more general classes of marginal deformations, the equivalence holds at up to four loops, and at five loops it is likely to break down. This implies that the iterative structure of planar MHV amplitudes…
We propose a renormalization group scaling function which is constructed from q-deformed fermionic versions of Virasoro characters. By comparison with alternative methods, which take their starting point in the massive theories, we demonstrate that these new functions contain qualitatively the same information. We show that these functions allow for RG-flows not only amongst members of a particular series of conformal field theories, but also between different series such as N=0,1,2 supersymmetric conformal field theories. We provide a detailed analysis of how Weyl characters may be utilized i…
A quantum critical system described at low energy by a conformal field theory (CFT) and subjected to a time-periodic boundary drive displays multiple dynamical regimes depending on the drive frequency. We compute the behavior of quantities including the entanglement entropy and Loschmidt echo, confirming analytic predictions from field theory by exact numerics on the transverse field Ising model, and demonstrate universality by adding non-integrable perturbations. The dynamics naturally separate into three regimes: a slow-driving limit, which has an interpretation as multiple quantum quenches …
We describe the classical $o(3,2)$ $r$-matrices as generating the quantum deformations of either D=3 conformal algebra with mass-like deformation parameters or D=4 $AdS$ algebra with dimensionless deformation parameters. We describe the quantization of classical $o(3,2)$ $r$-matrices via Drinfeld twist method which locates the deformation in the coalgebra sector. Further we obtain the quantum $o(3,2)$ algebra in a convenient Hopf algebra form by considering suitable deformation maps from classical to deformed $o(3,2)$ algebra basis. It appears that if we pass from $κ$-deformed D =3 conformal a…
We study the quantization of Hitchin systems in terms of beta-deformations of generalized matrix models related to conformal blocks of Liouville theory on punctured Riemann surfaces. We show that in a suitable limit, corresponding to the Nekrasov-Shatashvili one, the loop equations of the matrix model reproduce the Hamiltonians of the quantum Hitchin system on the sphere and the torus with marked points. The eigenvalues of these Hamiltonians are shown to be the epsilon1-deformation of the chiral observables of the corresponding N=2 four dimensional gauge theory. Moreover, we find the exact wav…
We study the Klein four-group $(K_4)$ symmetry of the time-dependent Schrödinger equation for the conformal mechanics model of de Alfaro-Fubini-Furlan (AFF) with confining harmonic potential and coupling constant $g=ν(ν+1)\geq -1/4$. We show that it undergoes a complete or partial (at half-integer $ν$) breaking on eigenstates of the system, and is the automorphism of the $\mathfrak{osp}(2,2)$ superconformal symmetry in super-extensions of the model by inducing a transformation between the exact and spontaneously broken phases of $\mathcal{N}=2$ Poincaré supersymmetry. We exploit the $K_4$ symm…
