Recently, for the first time, the BESIII Collaboration reported the strange hidden charm tetraquark states $Z_{cs}(3985)^-$ in the $K^+$ recoil-mass spectrum near the $D_{s}^{-}D^{*0}/ D_{s}^{*-}D^{0}$ mass thresholds in the processes of $e^{+}e^{-}\to K^{+}(D_{s}^{-}D^{*0}+D_{s}^{*-}D^{0})$ at $\sqrt{s}=4.681$ GeV. The significance was estimated to be 5.3 $σ$. We show that the newly observed $Z_{cs}(3985)^-$ state is the $U$-spin partner of $Z_c(3900)^{-}$ as a resonance within coupled-channel calculation in the $\text{SU(3)}_F$ symmetry and heavy quark spin symmetry (HQSS). In the $\text{SU(3)}_F$ symmetry, we introduce the $G_{U/V}$ parity to construct the flavor wave functions of the $Z_{cs}$ states. In a unified framework, we consider the $J/ψπ(K)$, $\bar{D}_{(s)}{D}^*/\bar{D}_{(s)}^*{D}$ coupled-channel effect with the contact interaction. With the masses and widths of $Z_c(3900)$ and $Z_c(4020)$, we determine all the unknown coupling constants. We obtain mass and width of $Z_{cs}(3985)$ in good agreement with the experimental results, which strongly supports the $Z_{cs}$ states as the $U/V$-spin partner states of the charged $Z_c(3900)$. We also calculate the ratio of the partial decay widths of $Z_{cs}(3985)$, which implies that the $\bar{D}_sD^*/\bar{D}^*_s D$ decay modes are dominant. We also predict the $Z_{cs}^\prime$ states with a mass around $4130$ MeV and width around $30$ MeV, which are the $U/V$-spin partner states of the charged $Z_c(4020)$ and HQSS partner states of the $Z_{cs}(3985)$. In the hidden bottom sector, we predict the strange tetraquark states $Z_{bs}$ and $Z_{bs}^\prime$ with a mass around 10700 MeV and 10750 MeV, which are the $U/V$-spin partner states of $Z_{b}(10610)^{\pm}$ and $Z_b(10650)^{\pm}$, respectively.
The spectrum of heavy-hadron molecules is constrained by heavy-quark symmetry in its different manifestations. Heavy-quark spin symmetry for instance connects the properties of the ground and excited states of heavy hadrons, while heavy-antiquark-diquark symmetry connects the properties of heavy antimesons ($\bar{D}$, $\bar{D}^*$) and doubly heavy baryons ($Ξ_{cc}$, $Ξ_{cc}^*$). A prediction of these symmetries is that if the $P_c(4450)$ is indeed a $\bar{D}^* Σ_c$ bound state, then there should be a series of $\bar{D}^* Σ_c^*$, $Ξ_{cc} Σ_c$, $Ξ_{cc}^* Σ_c$, $Ξ_{cc} Σ_c^*$ and $Ξ_{cc}^* Σ_c^*$…
Heavy-quark symmetry as applied to heavy hadron systems implies that their interactions are independent of their heavy-quark spin (heavy-quark spin symmetry) and heavy flavour contents (heavy flavour symmetry). In the molecular hypothesis the $X(3872)$ resonance is a $1^{++}$ $D^*\bar{D}$ bound state. If this is the case, the application of heavy-quark symmetry to a molecular $X(3872)$ suggests the existence of a series of partner states, the most obvious of which is a possible $2^{++}$ $D^*\bar{D}^*$ bound state for which the two-body potential is identical to that of the $1^{++}$ $D^*\bar{D}…
The spectrum of the doubly heavy baryons is estimated with respect to the new observation from the LHCb collaboration [Aaij:2017ueg] by using the chiral partner structure and heavy quark spin-flavor symmetry. The effects of heavy quark flavor symmetry breaking and light quark flavor symmetry are considered. The mass splitting of doubly heavy baryons with the same spin but opposite parity arises from the generalized Goldberger-Treiman relation. The intermultiplet one-pion transition and intramultiplet radiative transitions are also be estimated.
The spectrum and dominant strong decay properties of the doubly heavy baryons are revisited by using a chiral effective model with chiral partner structure. By regarding the doubly heavy baryons in the ground states and light angular momentum $j_l = 1/2$ sector of the first orbitally excited states as chiral partners to each other, we estimate the mass splitting of the chiral partners which arises from the spontaneous breaking of chiral symmetry to be about $430$ MeV for baryons including an unflavored light quark and about $350$ MeV for that including a strange quark. We point out that, simil…
We explore the consequences of heavy quark spin symmetry for the charmed meson-antimeson system in a contact-range (or pionless) effective field theory. As a trivial consequence, we theorize the existence of a heavy quark spin symmetry partner of the X(3872), with $J^{PC}=2^{++}$, which we call X(4012) in reference to its predicted mass. If we additionally assume that the X(3915) is a $0^{++}$ heavy spin symmetry partner of the X(3872), we end up predicting a total of six $D^{(*)}\bar{D}^{(*)}$ molecular states. We also discuss the error induced by higher order effects such as finite heavy qua…
In this letter, we propose interpolating currents for the X(3872) resonance, and show that, in the Heavy Quark limit of QCD, the X(3872) state should have degenerate partners, independent of its internal structure. Magnitudes of possible I=0 and I=1 components of the X(3872) are also discussed.
We explore the mass splitting of the heavy-light mesons with chiral partner structure in nuclear matter. In our calculation, we employed the heavy hadron chiral perturbation theory with chiral partner structure and the nuclear matter is constructed by putting skyrmions from the standard Skyrme model onto the face-centered cubic crystal and regarding the skyrmion matter as nuclear matter. We find that, although the masses of the heavy-light mesons with chiral partner structure are splitted in the matter-free space and skyrmion phase, they are degenerated in the half-skyrmion phase in which the …
The chiral partner structure of heavy baryons is studied using the bound state approach by binding the heavy-light mesons to nucleon as soliton in an effective Lagrangian for the pseudoscalar and vector mesons based on the hidden local symmetry. In the heavy-light meson sector, we regard the $H$-doublet and $G$-doublet as chiral partners and couple them to light meson with minimal derivative. We find that the chiral partner of $Λ_c(1/2^+,2286)$ is the $Λ_c(1/2^-,3/2^-)$ heavy quark doublet with the mass of about 3.1\,GeV but not ($Λ_c(1/2^-,2595)$, $Λ_c(3/2^-,2625)$) which might be interpreted…
Searches for new fermionic states heavier than the top quark are being pursued by the CMS & ATLAS collaborations, pushing the mass bounds towards the TeV scale. Although a chiral fourth generation of quarks is now excluded by the LHC results, models going beyond the Standard Model predict the existence of heavy vector-like top partners as potential smoking gun signatures. Relying on a model-independent parametrisation, we present the first results of a dedicated software called XQCAT (eXtra Quark Combined Analysis Tool), which recasts publicly available experimental data from direct and Supers…
The discovery of three pentaquark peaks -- the $P_c(4312)$, $P_c(4440)$ and $P_c(4457)$ -- by the LHCb collaboration has a series of interesting consequences for hadron spectroscopy. If these hidden-charm objects are indeed hadronic molecules, as suspected, they will be constrained by heavy-flavor and SU(3)-flavor symmetries. The combination of these two symmetries will imply the existence of a series of five-flavor pentaquarks with quark content $\bar{b} c s d u$ and $b \bar{c} s d u$, that is, pentaquarks that contain each of the five quark flavors that hadronize. In addition, from SU(3)-fla…
We revisit the formation of pion-mediated heavy-light exotic molecules with both charm and bottom and their chiral partners under the general strictures of both heavy-quark and chiral symmetry. The chiral exotic partners with good parity formed using the $(0^+, 1^+)$ multiplet are about twice more bound than their primary exotic partners formed using the $(0^-,1^-)$ multiplet. The chiral couplings across the multiplets $(0^\pm, 1^\pm)$ cause the chiral exotic partners to unbind, and the primary exotic molecules to be about twice more bound, for $J\leq 1$. Our multi-channel coupling results sho…
The coannihilation mechanism is a well-motivated alternative to the simple thermal freeze-out mechanism, where the dark matter relic density can be obtained through the coannihilation with a partner particle of similar mass with dark matter. When the partner particle is neutral, the inelastic nature of dark matter can help it to escape the direct detection limits. In this work, we focus on the coannihilation scenario in which the annihilation cross section is dominated by the partner-partner pair annihilation. We pay special interest on the parameter space where the coannihilation partner is l…
If heavy partners of the Standard Model matter fields are discovered at the LHC it will be imperative to determine their spin in order to uncover the underlying theory. In decay chains, both the spin and the mass hierarchy of all particles involved can influence the resulting angular correlations. We present the necessary conditions for decays involving the matter partners to exhibit angular correlations. In particular we find that when the masses are not degenerate, a heavy fermionic sector always displays angular correlations in cascade decays. When the masses are closely degenerate the size…
X(3872) presents many surprises after its discovery more than ten years ago. Understanding its properties is crucial to understand the spectrum of possible exotic mesons. In this work, X(3872) meson and its heavy quark spin symmetry (HQSS) partners (including the mesons in the bottom sector) are studied within the QCD Sum Rules approach using a current motivated by the molecular picture of X(3872). We predict four heavy partners to X(3872) and bottomonium with the masses and J^PC quantum numbers. Obtained results are in good agreement with the previous studies and available experimental data w…
Models beyond the Standard Model have been proposed to simultaneously solve the problems of naturalness and neutrino mass, in which heavy Majorana neutrinos and vector-like top partners are usually predicted. A new decay channel of the top partner mediated by the heavy Majorana neutrino can thus appear: $T\to b\,W^{+}\to b\,\ell^{+}\ell^{+}q\bar{q'}$. We study in this paper the observability of this decay process through single production of the top partner at the 14 TeV LHC: $pp\to T/\bar{T}$+jets$\to b/\bar{b}+μ^{\pm}μ^{\pm}$+jets. $2σ$ exclusion bounds on the top partner mass and mixing par…
In this work, we have used an Effective Field Theory (EFT) framework based on Heavy Quark Spin (HQSS), Heavy Flavour (HFS) and Heavy Antiquark-Diquark symmetries (HADS). Using a standard lagrangian for the heavy meson-heavy antimeson system, we fit the counter-terms of the model to predict some promising experimental data that can be interpreted as heavy meson-heavy antimeson molecules, that is, the X(3872) and the $Z_{b}(10610)/Z'_{b}(10650)$. Next, and, taking advantage of HADS, we use the same lagrangian to explore the consequences for heavy meson-doubly heavy baryon molecules, which can al…
The charmoniumlike state $Y(4260)$ is described as predominantly a $D_1 \bar{D}$ molecule in a coupled-channel quark model [Phys.\,Rev.\,D\,\textbf{96},\,114022\,(2017)]. The heavy quark spin symmetry (HQSS) thus implies the possible emergence of its heavy quark spin partners with molecular configuration as $D_1 \bar{D}^*$ and $D_2^* \bar{D}^*$ below these charmed mesons' thresholds. We analyze the probabilities of various intermediate charmed meson loops for $J^{PC}=1^{--}$ exotic state $Y(4360)$ and find that the channel $D_1 \bar{D}^*$ couples more strongly around its mass regime, and the c…
In this work, an Effective Field Theory (EFT) incorporating light SU(3)-flavour and heavy quark spin symmetry is used to describe charmed meson-antimeson bound states. At Lowest Order (LO), this means that only contact range interactions among the heavy meson and antimeson fields are involved. Besides, the isospin violating decays of the X(3872) will be used to constrain the interaction between the $D$ and a $\bar{D}^*$ mesons in the isovector channel. Finally, assuming that the X(3915) and Y(4140) resonances are $D^*\bar{D}^*$ and $D_s^*\bar{D}_s^*$ molecular states, we can determine the four…
If the Higgs boson $H(125)$ is a composite due to new strong interactions at high energy, it has spin-one partners, $ρ_H$ and $a_H$, analogous to the $ρ$ and $a_1$ mesons of QCD. These bosons are heavy, their mass determined by the strong interaction scale. The strongly interacting particles light enough for $ρ_H$ and $a_H$ to decay to are the longitudinal weak bosons $V_L = W_L,\, Z_L$ and the Higgs boson $H$. These decay signatures are consistent with resonant diboson excesses recently reported near 2 TeV by ATLAS and CMS. We calculate $σ\times BR(ρ_H \to VV) =$ few fb and $σ\times BR(a_H \t…
We consider the phenomenology at the Large Hadron Collider of new heavy vector-like quarks which couple mainly to the third generation quarks via Yukawa interactions, with special emphasis on non-standard doublet representations which are less constrained from present data. We also discuss in detail the flavour limits at tree level and loop level and implications of a generalised CKM mixing matrix to these cases.
We study the implications of the heavy-quark spin symmetry for the possible spin partners of the exotic states $Z_b(10610)$ and $Z_b(10650)$ in the spectrum of bottomonium. We formulate and solve numerically the coupled-channel equations for the $Z_b$ states that allow for a dynamical generation of these states as hadronic molecules. The force includes short-range contact terms and the one-pion exchange potential, both treated fully nonperturbatively. The strength of the potential at leading order is fixed completely by the pole positions of the $Z_b$ states such that the mass and the most pro…
We revisit the consequences of the heavy-quark spin symmetry for the possible spin partners of the $X(3872)$. We confirm that, if the $X(3872)$ were a $D\bar{D}^*$ molecular state with the quantum numbers $J^{PC}=1^{++}$, then in the strict heavy-quark limit there should exist three more hadronic molecules degenerate with the $X(3872)$, with the quantum numbers $0^{++}$, $1^{+-}$, and $2^{++}$ in line with previous results reported in the literature. We demonstrate that this result is robust with respect to the inclusion of the one-pion exchange interaction between the $D$ mesons. However, thi…
New vectorlike quarks are predicted in many new physics scenarios beyond the Standard Model~(SM) and could potentially be discovered at the LHC. Based on a simplified model including a singlet vectorlike top partner with charge $2/3$, we investigate the process $pp \to TT$ via a $t$-channel induced by the couplings between the top partner with the first-generation SM quarks. We calculate the production cross section and further study the observability of the heavy top partner in the channel $T\to Wq$ at the high-luminosity LHC (HL-LHC) using final states with same-sign dileptons (electrons or …
The observation of the two states $P_c(4380)$ and $P_c(4445)$ [Phys.Rev.Lett. 115 (2015) 072001] solids the existence of the pentaquark state in Nature. In this work, we study the spectrum of the pentaquark states including one or two heavy quarks based on the bound state approach by binding the heavy-light mesons to the nucleon as a soliton in an effective Lagrangian approach. By regarding the $H$ doublet and $G$ doublet as chiral partners to each other and coupling them to light mesons with a minimal derivative, the chiral partner structure of the pentaquark states is calculated. We find tha…
We study the phenomenology of vector resonances in the context of natural composite Higgs models. A mild hierarchy between the fermionic partners and the vector resonances can be expected in these models based on the following arguments. Both direct and indirect (electroweak and flavor precision) constraints on fermionic partners are milder than the ones on spin one resonances. Also the naturalness pressure coming from the top partners is stronger than that induced by the gauge partners. This observation implies that the search strategy for vector resonances at the LHC needs to be modified. In…
We study electroweak symmetry breaking in minimal composite Higgs models $SU(4)/Sp(4)$ with purely fermionic UV completions based on a confining Hypercolor gauge group and find that the extra Higgs potential from the underlying preon mass can destruct the correlation between the mass of Higgs and composite partners. Thus the composite partners can be very heavy for successful electroweak symmetry breaking without enhancing the separation between the new physical scale and Higgs VEV. So this kind of model can be easily realized by ordinary strong dynamics theories without artificial assumptions…
We construct an effective hadronic model including single heavy baryons (SHBs) belonging to the $(\mathbf{3},\mathbf{3})$ representation under $\mbox{SU}(3)_L \times \mbox{SU}(3)_R$ symmetry, respecting the chiral symmetry and heavy-qaurk spin-flavor symmetry. When the chiral symmetry is spontaneously broken, the SHBs are divided into the baryons with negative parity of $\bar{\mathbf 3}$ representation under $\mbox{SU}(3)$ flavor symmetry which is the chiral partners to the ones with positive parity of ${\mathbf 6}$ representation. We determine the model parameters from the available experimen…
We propose a deflected anomaly mediation scenario from SUSY QCD which can lead to both positive and negative deflection parameters (there is a smooth transition between these two deflection parameter regions by adjusting certain couplings). Such a scenario can naturally give a SUSY spectrum in which all the colored sparticles are heavy while the sleptons are light. As a result, the discrepancy between the Brookheaven $g_μ-2$ experiment and LHC data can be reconciled in this scenario. We also find that the parameter space for explaining the $g_μ-2$ anomaly at $1σ$ level can be fully covered by …
We present discovery limits for heavy quarks in the Bestest Little Higgs model via pair production at the LHC running at $\sqrt{s} = 7 \mathrm{TeV}$. We study pair produced heavy top-like quarks decaying to $b\bar{b}W^+W^-$ and $t\bar{t}ZZ$ final states and singly produced heavy top-like quarks via t-channel $W$ exchange. These results are compared to currently available limits on heavy top-like quark cross sections from CMS (with 1.14 fb$^{-1}$ integrated luminosity) for two scenarios of Yukawa couplings. We find that the CMS data limits the mass of the lightest top partner to larger than 413…
Both unitary chiral theories and lattice QCD simulations show that the $DK$ interaction is attractive and can form a bound state, namely, $D^*_{s0}(2317)$. Assuming the validity of the heavy antiquark-diquark symmetry (HADS), the $Ξ_{cc}\bar{K}$ interaction is the same as the $DK$ interaction, which implies the existence of a $Ξ_{cc}\bar{K}$ bound state with a binding energy of $49-64$ MeV. In this work, we study whether a $Ξ_{cc}Ξ_{cc}\bar{K}$ three-body system binds. The $Ξ_{cc}Ξ_{cc}$ interaction is described by exchanging $π$, $σ$, $ρ$, and $ω$ mesons, with the corresponding couplings rela…
The observation of $Z_{cs}(3985)$ by BESIII in the $D_s^{*-}D^0$ and $D_s^{-}D^{*0}$ channel adds important dynamic information for a coherent understanding of both $Z_c(3900)$ and $Z_c(4020)$, as well as their strange partners $Z_{cs}(3985)$ and $Z_{cs}(4120)$, on the basis of heavy quark spin symmetry. With an overall short-ranged contact potential in SU(3) flavor symmetry we show that the pole structures can be extracted from the experimental data. Meanwhile, we show the key role played by the $S$-wave open thresholds in $e^+e^-$ annihilations which are correlated with the production of the…
We point out that the study of the density dependences of the masses of heavy-light mesons give some clues to the chiral symmetry structure in nuclear matter. We include the omega meson effect as well as the sigma meson effect at mean field level on the density dependence of the masses of heavy-light mesons with chiral partner structure. It is found that the omega meson affects the masses of the heavy-light mesons and their antiparticles in the opposite way, while it affects the masses of chiral partners in the same way. This is because the omega meson is sensitive to the baryon number of the …
The properties of the $X(3872)$ and its spin partner, the $X(4014)$, are studied both in vacuum and at finite temperature. Using an effective hadron theory based on the hidden-gauge Lagrangian, the $X(3872)$ is dynamically generated from the $s$-wave rescattering of a pair of pseudoscalar and vector charm mesons. By incorporating the thermal spectral functions of open charm mesons, the calculation is extended to finite temperature. Similarly, the properties of the $X(4014)$ are obtained out of the scattering of charm vector mesons. By applying heavy-quark flavor symmetry, the properties of the…
We review the model-independent description of the couplings of the top quark to the Higgs and gauge bosons in theories beyond the Standard Model. Then we examine these couplings in the case of arbitrary heavy vector-like quarks mixing with the third family. We also discuss the couplings of these top partners, and comment on implications for LHC searches.
The Standard Model is a successful theory but lack of a mechanism for neutrino mass generation as well as a solution to the naturalness problem. In the models that are proposed to simultaneously solve the two problems, heavy Majorana neutrinos and top partners are usually predicted that can lead to a new decay mode of the top partner mediated by the heavy Majorana neutrinos: $T\to b\,W^{+}\to b\,\ell^{+}\ell^{+}q\bar{q'}$. In this paper, we will study the observability of such a new signature via the pair production process of top partner $pp \to T\bar{T} \to 2b+ \ell^\pm \ell^\pm+4j$ in a mod…
The $X_0(2900)$ observed by the LHCb Collaboration recently in the $D^-K^+$ invariant mass of the $B^+\to D^+D^-K^+$ process is the first exotic candidate with four different flavors, which opens a new era for the hadron community. Under the assumption that the $X_0(2900)$ is a $I(J^P)=0(0^+)$ $\bar{D}^*K^*$ hadronic molecule, we extract the whole heavy-quark symmetry multiplet formed by the $\left(\bar{D},\bar{D}^*\right)$ doublet and the $K^*$ meson. For the bound state case, there would be two additional $I(J^P)=0(1^+)$ hadronic molecules associated with the $\bar{D}K^*$ and $\bar{D}^*K^*$ …
We study the phenomenology of new heavy vector-like fermions that couple to the third generation quarks via Yukawa interactions, covering all the allowed representations under the standard model gauge groups. We first review tree and loop level bounds on these states. We then discuss tree level decays and loop-induced decays to photon or gluon plus top. The main decays at tree level are to W b and/or Z and Higgs plus top via the new Yukawa couplings. The radiative loop decays turn out to be quite close to the naive estimate: in all cases, in the allowed perturbative parameter space, the branch…
The discovery of a charged strange hidden-charm state $Z_{cs}$(3985) implies another higher $Z^*_{cs}$ state coupling to $\bar{D}_s^{*-}D^{*0} + c.c$ under the heavy quark spin symmetry. In this paper we discuss a possible hunt for it with data taken at existing facilities. We point out a hint for $Z^*_{cs}$ in the data of $\bar{B}_s^0 \to J/ψK^- K^+$ at LHCb, though weak, in line with the production mechanism of pentaquark $P_c$. We also study the triangular singularity which would possibly enhance the production of $Z^*_{cs}$ in electron-positron collision. Surprisingly, the production rate …
We propose a new search strategy for heavy top partners at the early stages of the LHC run-II, based on lepton-jet final states. Our results show that final states containing a boosted massive jet and a hard lepton, in addition to a top quark and possibly a forward jet, offer a new window to both detecting and measuring top partners of mass $\sim 2$ TeV. Our resulting signal significance is comparable or superior to the same sign di-lepton channels for top partner masses heavier than roughly 1 TeV. Unlike the di-lepton channel, the selection criteria we propose are sensitive both to $5/3$ and …
We assess how different ATLAS and CMS searches for supersymmetry in the $t\bar t + E_T^{\rm miss}$ final state at Run 1 of the LHC constrain scenarios with a fermionic top partner and a dark matter candidate. We find that the efficiencies of these searches in all-hadronic, 1-lepton and 2-lepton channels are quite similar for scalar and fermionic top partners. Therefore, in general, efficiency maps for stop-neutralino simplified models can also be applied to fermionic top-partner models, provided the narrow width approximation holds in the latter. Owing to the much higher production cross-secti…
We consider the $X(3872)$ resonance as a $J^{PC}=1^{++}$ $D\bar D^*$ hadronic molecule. According to heavy quark spin symmetry, there will exist a partner with quantum numbers $2^{++}$, $X_{2}$, which would be a $D^*\bar D^*$ loosely bound state. The $X_{2}$ is expected to decay dominantly into $D\bar D$, $D\bar D^*$ and $\bar D D^*$ in $d$-wave. In this work, we calculate the decay widths of the $X_{2}$ resonance into the above channels, as well as those of its bottom partner, $X_{b2}$, the mass of which comes from assuming heavy flavor symmetry for the contact terms. We find partial widths o…
We discuss the consequences of the chiral doubling scenario for baryons built of heavy and light quarks. In particular, we use the soliton description for baryons, demonstrating why each heavy-light baryon should be accompanied by the opposite parity partner. Our argumentation holds both for ordinary baryons and for exotic heavy pentaquarks which are required by the symmetries of QCD to appear in parity doublets, seperated by the mass shift of the chiral origin. Interpreting the recently observed by BaBaR, CLEO and Belle charmed mesons with assignment $(0^+,1^+)$ as the chiral partners of know…
In this paper we study the discovery potential of the LHC run II for heavy vector-like top quarks in the decay channel to a top and a $Z$ boson. Despite the usually smaller branching ratio compared to charged-current decays, this channel is rather clean and allows for a complete mass reconstruction of the heavy top. The latter is achieved in the leptonic decay channel of the $Z$ boson and in the fully hadronic top channel using boosted jet and jet substructure techniques. To be as model-independent as possible, a simplified model approach with only two free parameters has been applied. The res…
The discovery of the $X(3872)$ meant the revival of the heavy meson spectroscopy beyond naive $q\bar q$ structures. Once that the $SU(3)$ scheme, which was very useful in the dawn of the quark models, does not work for these states, one has to use new symmetries, like Heavy Quark Spin Symmetry (HQSS) and Heavy Flavor Symmetry (HFS), to look for new states. However, at the energy regions where these new states appear, new factors are involved and it is not straightforward to relate the predictions of the symmetries with the data. In this work, we present a critical analysis of this problem and …
We study the effects of heavy Majorana neutrinos on the Higgs sector of the MSSM via radiative corrections. We work within the SUSY context where the MSSM particle content is enlarged with right handed neutrinos and their corresponding SUSY partners, the sneutrinos, and where compatibility with neutrino data is required. We compute the one-loop corrections to the mass of the lightest MSSM CP-even neutral Higgs boson from Majorana neutrinos and their SUSY partners and assume a seesaw mechanism of type I for neutrino mass generation. A negative and sizeable Higgs mass correction of up to -5 GeV …
In a composite model of leptons and quarks, composite particles with heavy Majorana particles appear provided that the V-rishon is regarded as a Majorana particle. In this paper, the decay mode of such "Majorana partners" is isestigated. It is shown that the life time of Majorana partners are fairly long. Our model suggests that a new mechanism of proton decay is possible, where the X and Y bosons in GUTs are not necessary.
We study $D$ and $D_s$ mesons at finite temperature using an effective field theory based on chiral and heavy-quark spin-flavor symmetries within the imaginary-time formalism. Interactions with the light degrees of freedom are unitarized via a Bethe-Salpeter approach, and the $D$ and $D_s$ self-energies are calculated self-consistently. We generate dynamically the $D^*_0(2300)$ and $D_s(2317)$ states, and study their possible identification as the chiral partners of the $D$ and $D_s$ ground states, respectively. We show the evolution of their masses and decay widths as functions of temperature…

Since the discovery of the $X(3872)$ the study of heavy meson molecules has been the subject of many investigations. On the experimental side different experiments have looked for its spin partners and the bottom analogs. On the theoretical side different approaches have been used to understand this state. Some of them are EFT that impose HQSS and so they make predictions for the partners of the $X(3872)$, suggesting the existence of a $J^{PC}=2^{++}$ partner in the charm sector or $J^{PC}=1^{++}$ or $2^{++}$ analogs in the bottom. In our work, in order to understand the $X(3872)$, we use a Ch…
We discuss a potential new probe of supersymmetric physics. In particular, we discuss the possibility of measuring hard supersymmetry violation which occurs at one loop through "super-oblique" corrections to the gauge and gaugino propagators. In models with heavy scalar partners, or with many gauge-charged particles which participate in supersymmetry breaking, these effects can be substantial due to logarithmic and multiplicity factor enhancements.
The $D^{(\ast)}Ξ_{cc}^{(\ast)}$ system and $\barΞ_{cc}^{(\ast)}Ξ_{cc}^{(\ast)}$ system can be related to the $D^{(\ast)}\bar{D}^{(\ast)}$ system via heavy anti-quark di-quark symmetry (HADS). In this work, we employ a contact-range effective field theory to systematically investigate the likely existence of molecules in these systems in terms of the hypothesis that X(3872) is a $1^{++}$~$D\bar{D}^{\ast}$ bound state in the isospin symmetry limit, with some of the unknown low energy constants estimated using the light-meson saturation approximation. In the meson-meson system, a $J^{PC}=2^{++}$~…
We discuss the properties and LHC phenomenology of a potentially discoverable heavy scalar boson ($s$) that arises in the context of the renormalizable coloron model; the model also contains a light scalar, $h$, identifiable with the 125 GeV state discovered by the LHC. These two scalar mass eigenstates are admixtures of a weak doublet gauge eigenstate and a weak singlet gauge eigenstate. A previous study set exclusion limits on the heavy $s$ scalar, using the stability of the scalar potential, unitarity, electroweak precision tests, LHC searches for the 125 GeV Higgs; it also briefly discusse…
We investigate the properties of new scalar X_B, X_D and axial-vector X_B*, X_D* mesons, which are recently predicted, in the covariant meson-classification scheme, to exist as the partners of ground-state pseudoscalar B, D and vector B*, D* mesons, respectively, realizing a linear representation of chiral symmetry for the light quark component in heavy-light-quark meson system. The mass splittings between the respective chiral partners are shown to be equal, and the decay widths of one pion emission of X_B, X_D, X_B* and X_D* become to have a common value, due to chiral and heavy quark symmet…
In composite Higgs models light fermionic top partners often play an important role in obtaining a 126 GeV Higgs mass. The presence of these top partners implies that coloured vector mesons, or massive gluon partners, most likely exist. Since the coupling between the top partners and gluon partners can be large there are then sizeable two-loop contributions to the composite Higgs mass. We compute the radiative correction to the Higgs mass from a gluon partner in the minimal composite Higgs model and show that the Higgs mass is in fact reduced. This allows the top partner masses to be increased…
We derive the chiral effective Lagrangian for excited heavy-light mesons from QCD under proper approximations. We focus on the chiral partners with $j_l^P=\frac{3}{2}^+$ and $j_l^P=\frac{3}{2}^-$ which amounts to ($1^+,2^+$) and ($1^-,2^-$) states respectively. The low energy constants including the masses of the chiral partners are calculated. The calculated spectrum for the excited mesons are found roughly consistent with experimental data. In addition, our results indicate that quantum numbers of $B_J(5970)$ can be identified with $1^-$ or $2^-$.
A model is presented in which O(10 TeV) stop masses, typically required by the Higgs boson mass in supersymmetric models, do not originate from soft supersymmetry breaking terms that would drive the Higgs mass squared parameter to large negative values but rather from the mixing with vectorlike partners. Their contribution to the Higgs mass squared parameter is reduced to threshold corrections and, thus, it is one loop suppressed compared to usual scenarios. New fermion and scalar partners of the top quark with O(10 TeV) masses are predicted.
