A classical twisting lemma says that given a finitely generated torsion module $M$ over the Iwasawa algebra $\mathbb{Z}_p[[Γ]]$ with $Γ\cong \mathbb{Z}_p, \ \exists$ a continuous character $θ: Γ\rightarrow \mathbb{Z}_p^\times$ such that, the $ Γ^{n}$-Euler characteristic of the twist $M(θ)$ is finite for every $n$. This twisting lemma has been generalized for the Iwasawa algebra of a general compact $p$-adic Lie group $G$. In this article, we consider a further generalization of the twisting lemma to $\mathcal{T}[[G]]$ modules, where $G$ is a compact $p$-adic Lie group and $\mathcal{T}$ is a finite extension of $\mathbb{Z}_p[[X]]$. Such modules naturally occur in Hida theory. We also indicate arithmetic application by considering the twisted Euler Characteristic of the big Selmer (respectively fine Selmer) group of a $Λ$-adic form over a $p$-adic Lie extension.
The problem of backward dynamics over the ring of p-adic integers is studied. It is shown that Inverse Limit Theory provides the right framework. Backward iterations of a polynomial with p-adic integer coefficients are constructed by solving congruences modulo powers of p, which inturn are solved by Hensel's lifting lemma.
This article gives a new proof of the fundamental lemma of the "weakly admissible implies admissible" theorem of Colmez-Fontaine that describes the semi-stable p-adic representations. To this end, we introduce the category of spectral Banach spaces, which are p-adic Banach spaces with a C_p-algebra of analytic functions, and the subcategory of effective Banach-Colmez spaces. The fundamental lemma states the surjectivity of certain analytic maps and describes their kernel. It is proven by an explicit count of solutions of the equations defining these maps. It is equivalent to the existence of f…
We prove the arithmetic fundamental lemma conjecture over a general $p$-adic field with odd residue cardinality $q\geq \dim V$. Our strategy is similar to the one used by the second author during his proof of the AFL over $\mathbb{Q}_p$ (arXiv:1909.02697), but only requires the modularity of divisor generating series on the Shimura variety (as opposed to its integral model). The resulting increase in flexibility allows us to work over an arbitrary base field. To carry out the strategy, we also generalize results of Howard (arXiv:1303.0545) on CM-cycle intersection and of Ehlen--Sankaran (arXiv…
In this work we study $p$-adic continuous functions in several variables taking values on $\mathbb{Z}_p$. We describe the orthonormal van der Put base of these functions and study various Lipschitz conditions in several variables, generalizing previous work of Anashin. In particular, we introduce a new class of $p$-adic Lipschitz functions and study some of their properties. We also prove a Hensel's lifting lemma for this new class of functions, generalizing previous results of Yurova and Khrennikov.
Let C be a smooth projective curve defined over a number field and let C' be a twist of C. In this article we relate the l-adic representations attached to the l-adic Tate modules of the Jacobians of C and C' through an Artin representation. This representation induces global relations between the local factors of the respective Hasse-Weil L-functions. We make these relations explicit in a particularly illustrating situation. For every Qbar-isomorphism class of genus 2 curves defined over Q with automorphism group isomorphic to D_8 or D_{12}, except for a finite number, we choose a representat…
We give the p-adic and F_q((t)) analogue of the real van der Corput Lemma, where the real condition of sufficient smoothness for the phase is replaced by the condition that the phase is a convergent power series. This van der Corput style result allows us, in analogy to the real situation, to study singular Fourier transforms on suitably curved (analytic) manifolds and opens the way for further applications. As one such further application we give the restriction theorem for Fourier transforms of L^p functions to suitably curved analytic manifolds over non-archimedean local fields, similar to …
It is well known that, for any finitely generated torsion module M over the Iwasawa algebra Z_p [[Γ ]], where Γ is isomorphic to Z_p, there exists a continuous p-adic character ρ of Γ such that, for every open subgroup U of Γ, the group of U-coinvariants M(ρ)_U is finite; here M( ρ) denotes the twist of M by ρ. This twisting lemma was already applied to study various arithmetic properties of Selmer groups and Galois cohomologies over a cyclotomic tower by Greenberg and Perrin-Riou. We prove a non commutative generalization of this twisting lemma replacing torsion modules over Z_p [[ Γ ]] by ce…
Building on recent work of Ardakov and Wadsley, we prove Schur's lemma for absolutely irreducible admissible p-adic Banach space (respectively locally analytic) representations of p-adic Lie groups. We also prove finiteness results for the endomorphism algebra of an irreducible admissible representation.
The central topic is this question: is a given $k$-étale algebra $\prod_lE_l/k$ the specialization of a given $k$-cover $f:X\rightarrow B$ at some point $t_0\in B(k)$? Our main tool is a {\it twisting lemma} that reduces the problem to finding $k$-rational points on a certain $k$-variety. Previous forms of this twisting lemma are generalized and unified. New applications are given: a Grunwald form of Hilbert's irreducibility theorem over number fields, a non-Galois variant of the Tchebotarev theorem for function fields over finite fields, some general specialization properties of covers over P…

We will discuss $\infty$-categorical perverse $p$-adic differential equations over stacks. On one hand, we are going to study some $p$-adic analogous results of the Drinfeld's original lemma about the étale fundamental groups in the étale setting, in the context of $F$-isocrystals closely after Kedlaya and Kedlaya-Xu. We expect similar things could also be considered for diamonds after Scholze, in the context of Kedlaya-Liu's work namely the derived category of pseudocoherent Frobenius sheaves, which will induce some categorical form of Drinfeld's lemma for diamonds motivated by work of Carter…
Motivated by questions about $\mathbb{C}_p$-valued Fourier transform on the locally compact group $(\mathbb{Q}_p^d,+)$, we study invariant norms on the $p$-adic Schrödinger representation of the Heisenberg group. Our main result is a minimality and rigidity property for norms in a family of invariant norms parameterized by a Grassmannian. This family is the orbit of the sup norm under the action of the symplectic group, acting via intertwining operators. We also prove general fundamental properties of quotients of the universal unitary completion of cyclic algebraic representations. Combined w…
We prove that the canonical dimension of a coadmissible representation of a semisimple $p$-adic Lie group in a $p$-adic Banach space is either zero or at least half the dimension of a non-zero coadjoint orbit. To do this we establish analogues for $p$-adically completed enveloping algebras of Bernstein's inequality for modules over Weyl algebras, the Beilinson-Bernstein localisation theorem and Quillen's Lemma about the endomorphism ring of a simple module over an enveloping algebra.
Clozel and Labesse proved the base change fundamental lemma for spherical Hecke algebras attached to an unramified group over a p-adic field. This paper proves an analogous fundamental lemma for centers of parahoric Hecke algebras attached to the same class of groups. This provides an ingredient needed for the author's program to study Shimura varieties with parahoric level structure at p.
We consider the parabolically induced representations of the symmetric space $SO_4\backslash G_2$ over a p-adic field using the geometric lemma when the inducing parabolic is $P_β$. Using an explicit description of the embedding of $G_2$ in $GL_8$, we characterize precisely the induced representations which are $(SO_4, χ)$-distinguished, given a certain type of involutions is chosen.
(Dieudonné and) Dwork's lemma gives a necessary and sufficient condition for an exponential of a formal power series $S(z)$ with coefficients in $Q_p$ to have coefficients in $Z_p$. We establish theorems on the $p$-adic valuation of the coefficients of the exponential of $S(z)$, assuming weaker conditions on the coefficients of $S(z)$ than in Dwork's lemma. As applications, we provide several results concerning lower bounds on the $p$-adic valuation of the number of permutation representations of finitely generated groups. In particular, we give fairly tight lower bounds in the case of an arbi…
Motivated by the study of periods of automorphic forms and relative trace formulae, we develop the theory of descent necessary to study orbital integrals arising in the fundamental lemma for a general class of symmetric spaces over a $p$-adic field $F$. More precisely, we prove that a connected symmetric space over $F$ enjoys a notion of topological Jordan decomposition, which may be of independent interest, and establish a relative version of a lemma of Kazhdan that played a crucial role in the proof of the Langlands-Shelstad fundamental lemma. As our main application, we use these results to…
In this article we give a new proof of Ngô's Geometric Stabilisation Theorem, which implies the Fundamental Lemma. This is a statement which relates the cohomology of Hitchin fibres for a quasi-split reductive group scheme $G$ to the cohomology of Hitchin fibres for the endoscopy groups $H_κ$. Our proof avoids the Decomposition and Support Theorem, instead the argument is based on results for $p$-adic integration on coarse moduli spaces of Deligne-Mumford stacks. Along the way we establish a description of the inertia stack of the (anisotropic) moduli stack of $G$-Higgs bundles in terms of end…
This article introduces a new kind of number systems on $p$-adic integers which is inspired by the well-known $3n+1$ conjecture of Lothar Collatz. A $p$-adic system is a piecewise function on $\mathbb{Z}_p$ which has branches for all residue classes modulo $p$ and whose dynamics can be used to define digit expansions of $p$-adic integers which respect congruency modulo powers of $p$ and admit a distinctive "block structure". $p$-adic systems generalize several notions related to $p$-adic integers such as permutation polynomials and put them under a common framework, allowing for results and te…
Let $p$ be a prime, let $K$ be a finite extension of $\mathbb{Q}_p$, and let $n$ be a positive integer. We construct equivalences of categories between continuous $p$-adic representations of the $n$-fold product of the absolute Galois group $G_K$ and $(φ, Γ)$-modules over one of several rings of $n$-variable power series. The case $n=1$ recovers the original construction of Fontaine and the subsequent refinement by Cherbonnier--Colmez; for general $n$, the case $K = \mathbb{Q}_p$ had been previously treated by the third author. To handle general $K$ uniformly, we use a form of Drinfeld's lemma…
This article gives a proof of the Langlands-Shelstad fundamental lemma for the spherical Hecke algebra for every unramified p-adic reductive group G in large positive characteristic. The proof is based on the transfer principle for constructible motivic integration. To carry this out, we introduce a general family of partition functions attached to the complex L-group of the unramified p-adic group G. Our partition functions specialize to Kostant's q-partition function for complex connected groups and also specialize to the Langlands L-function of a spherical representation. These partition fu…
Let $G$ be an unramified group over a $p$-adic field. This article introduces a base change homomorphism for Bernstein centers of depth-zero principal series blocks for $G$ and proves the corresponding base change fundamental lemma. This result is used in the approach to Shimura varieties with $Γ_1(p)$-level structure initiated by M. Rapoport and the author in [HR2].
In this paper we prove the fundamental lemma for Deligne-Lusztig functions. Namely, for every Deligne-Lusztig function $ϕ$ on a $p$-adic group $G$ we write down an explicit linear combination $ϕ^H$ of Deligne-Lusztig functions on an endoscopic group $H$ such that $ϕ$ and $ϕ^H$ have ``matching orbital integrals''. In particular, we prove a conjecture of Kottwitz. More precisely, we do it under some mild restriction on $p$.
