We investigate the prospect of detecting the Dark Matter (DM) candidate in the three-loop radiative neutrino mass generation model extended with large electroweak multiplets of the Standard Model (SM) gauge group, at the future imaging atmospheric Cherenkov telescope known as the Cherenkov Telescope Array (CTA). We find that the addition of such large electroweak multiplets leads to a sizable Sommerfeld enhanced annihilation of the DM with $O(\text{TeV})$ mass, into the SM gauge bosons which results in continuum and line-like spectra of very high energy (VHE) gamma-rays, and therefore becomes observable for the CTA. We determine the viable models by setting the upper limit on the $SU(2)_{L}$ isospin of the multiplets from the partial-wave unitarity constraints and the appearance of low-scale Landau pole in the gauge coupling. Afterwards, by considering the continuum VHE gamma-rays produced from the DM annihilation at the Galactic center, we probe the parameter space of the model using the sensitivity reach of the CTA.
We present a detailed study of the annihilation signals of the inert dark matter doublet model in its high mass regime. Concretely, we study the prospects to observe gamma-ray signals of the model in current and projected Cherenkov telescopes taking into account the Sommerfeld effect and including the contribution to the spectrum from gamma-ray lines as well as from internal bremsstrahlung. We show that present observations of the galactic center by the H.E.S.S. instrument are able to exclude regions of the parameter space that give the correct dark matter relic abundance. In particular, model…
Recent observations by PAMELA, Fermi-LAT, and AMS-02 have conclusively indicated a rise in the cosmic-ray positron fraction above 10 GeV, a feature which is impossible to mimic under the paradigm of secondary positron production with self-consistent Galactic cosmic-ray propagation models. A leading explanation for the rising positron fraction is an additional source of electron-positron pairs, for example one or more mature, energetic, and relatively nearby pulsars. We point out that any one of two well-known nearby pulsars, Geminga and Monogem, can satisfactorily provide enough positrons to r…
Within the classical emission model, where the emission region is placed within the broad line region (BLR), flat spectrum radio quasars (FSRQs) were believed not to emit photons with energies above few tens of GeV because of the absorption with the optical-UV photons from the BLR. However, photons with observed energies up to about $300 \, \rm GeV$ have been detected for few FSRQs, whose most iconic example is PKS 1441+25 at redshift $z = 0.94$. The most conservative explanation for these observations is that the emission occurs at distances comparable to the size of the dusty torus. In this …
In this article, we claim that axion-like particles (ALPs) with MeV masses can be produced with semi-relativistic velocities in core-collapse supernovae (SNe), generating a diffuse galactic flux. We show that these ALPs can be detected in neutrino water Cherenkov detectors via $a \, p \rightarrow p \, γ$ interactions. Using Super-Kamiokande data, we derive new constraints on the ALP parameter space, excluding a region spanning one order of magnitude in the ALP-proton coupling above cooling bounds for ALP masses in the range of $1-70$~MeV and ALP-proton couplings between $\sim 2\times10^{-5}-2\…
Astrophysical observations provide strong evidence that more than 80% of all matter in the Universe is in the form of dark matter (DM). Two leading candidates of particles beyond the Standard Model that could constitute all or a fraction of the DM content are the so-called Weakly Interacting Massive Particles (WIMPs) and Axion-Like Particles (ALPs). The upcoming Cherenkov Telescope Array, which will observe gamma rays between 20 GeV and 300 TeV with unprecedented sensitivity, will have unique capabilities to search for these DM candidates. A particularly promising target for WIMP searches is t…
We present the Sommerfeld enhanced Dark Matter (DM) annihilation into gamma ray for a class of three-loop radiative neutrino mass models with large electroweak multiplets where the DM mass is in O(TeV) range. We show that in this model, the DM annihilation rate becomes more prominent for larger multiplets and it is already within the reach of currently operating Imaging Atmospheric Cherenkov telescopes (IACTs), High Energy Stereoscopic System (H.E.S.S.). Furthermore, Cherenkov Telescope Array (CTA), which will begin operating in 2030, will improve this sensitivity by a factor of $\mathcal{O}{(…
The evidence for dark matter particles, $χ$, is compelling based on Galactic to cosmological scale observations. Thus far, the promising weakly interacting massive particle scenario have eluded detection, motivating alternative models of dark matter. We consider scenarios involving superheavy dark matter (SHDM) that potentially can decay or annihilate to neutrinos and antineutrinos. In the mass range $m_χ=10^7-10^{15}\,{\rm GeV}$, we evaluate the sensitivities of future observatories POEMMA and GRAND for indirect dark matter detection via the measurement of neutrino-induced extensive air showe…
The recent CLEO results on on radiative $b$-quark decays are used to derive constraints on anomalous $WWγ$ couplings. These constraints are compared with expectations from $p\bar p\rightarrow e^\pm p\llap/_Tγ+X$ at the Tevatron. The usefulness of exclusive radiative $B$ meson decay channels in probing the $WWγ$ vertex is largely limited by present theoretical uncertainties in the calculation of hadronic matrix elements.
Motivated by a pilot experiment conducted by F.Vannucci et al. during a solar eclipse, we work out the geometry governing the radiative decays of solar neutrinos. Surprisingly, although a smaller proportion of the photons can be detected, the case of strongly non-degenerate neutrinos brings better limits in terms of the fundamental couplings. We advocate satellite-based experiments to improve the sensitivity.
Two important features of TeV-scale radiative seesaw models, in which tiny neutrino masses are generated at the quantum level, are an extended scalar (Higgs) sector and the Majorana nature. We study phenomenological aspects of these models at the ILC. It is found that the Majorana nature of the models can be tested directly via the electron-positron and electron-electron collision experiments.
Several current projects aim at building a large water-Cherenkov detector, with a fiducial volume about 20 times larger than in the current Super-Kamiokande experiment. These projects include the Underground nucleon decay and Neutrino Observatory (UNO) in the Henderson Mine (Colorado), the Hyper-Kamiokande (HK) detector in the Tochibora Mine (Japan), and the MEgaton class PHYSics (MEMPHYS) detector in the Frejus site (Europe). We study the physics potential of a reference next-generation detector (0.4 Mton of fiducial mass) in providing information on supernova neutrino flavor transitions with…
When new CP-violating interactions are dominated by flavor changing neutral particle exchanges, that may occur in many extensions of the standard model. We examine a type 3 two Higgs doublet model and find that direct CP asymmetries can be as large as about 25% . Time-dependent and time-integrated mixing-induced CP asymmetries up to 85 and 40 %, respectively, are possible without conflict with other constraints. It mainly requirs an enhanced chromo-magnetic dipole $b\to sg$ decay to be close to the present experimental bound.
Trilepton event represents one of the probes of the new physics at high energy colliders. In this talk, we consider the search for processes with final states $\ell_α^{\pm }\ell_β^{\pm}\ell_γ^{\mp}$ + $\slashed{E}_{T}$ where $α$, $β$, $γ$= $e,μ,τ$, via the production of singlet charged scalar $S^{\pm}$ which arise in a class of radiative neutrino mass models. We discuss the opposite sign same flavor leptons signal, as well as the background free channel in view to get a significant excess at $\sqrt{s}$= 8 TeV and $\sqrt{s}$ = 14 TeV at the hadron collider LHC.
We consider the radiative transition $ϕ\to f_0 γ$, which is a sensitive probe of the nature of the $f_0(980)$ particle. Using the QCD sum-rule technique, we estimate the branching ratio of such decay mode to be: ${\cal B}(ϕ\to f_0 γ)=(2.7 \pm 1.1) ~ 10^{-4}$, in fair agreement with present experimental data. As for the structure of the $f_0$, the result suggests a sizeable $s {\bar s}$ component; however, this result does not exclude the possibility of further components and allows a more complex structure than indicated by the naive quark model.
A general feature of TeV-scale radiative seesaw models, in which tiny neutrino masses are generated via loop corrections, is an extended scalar (Higgs) sector. Another feature is the Majorana nature; e.g., introducing right-handed neutrinos with TeV-scale Majorana masses under the discrete symmetry, or otherwise introducing some lepton number violating interactions in the scalar sector. We study phenomenological aspects of these models at collider experiments. We find that, while properties of the extended Higgs sector of these models can be explored to some extent, the Majorana nature of the …
We propose to use atmospheric neutrinos as a powerful probe of new physics beyond the Standard Model via neutrino trident production. The final state with double muon tracks simultaneously produced from the same vertex is a distinctive signal at large Cherenkov detectors. We calculate the expected event numbers of trident production in the Standard Model. To illustrate the potential of this process to probe new physics we obtain the sensitivity on new vector/scalar bosons with coupling to muon and tau neutrinos.
We investigate a new method to probe the helicity of the photon emitted in the b -> s gamma transition. The method relies on the observation of interference effects between two resonance contributions, B -> K*(K gamma) gamma and B -> eta_c(gamma gamma) K or B -> chi_c0(gamma gamma) K to the same final state K gamma gamma. Decays of the type B -> K_res(K gamma) gamma dominate the B -> K gamma gamma yield throughout most of the phase space, and may be accessible at current B meson facilities already.
In this work we prob a class of neutrino mass models at both Large Hadron Collider (LHC) energies 8 TeV and 14 TeV. The focus will be on the new introduced interaction terms between a singlet charged scalar, $S^{\pm}$, and leptons leading to different final states $pp\rightarrow\ell_α^{\pm}\ell_β^{\mp}$ +$\slashed E$ with $\ell_α\ell_β=ee,eμ,μμ$ that implies lepton flavor violation (LFV). An accurate cut on the $M_{T2}$ eventvariable is found to be crucial for an effective suppression of the large Standard Model background. The obtained results can be translated into a possible detectability o…
In this work, we investigate the possibility of probing a class of neutrino mass models at the LHC proton-proton collisions with 8 and 14 TeV energies. The existence of lepton flavor violating interactions for a singlet charged scalar, $S^{\pm}$, that couples to the leptons could induce many processes such as $pp\rightarrow\ell_α^{\pm}\ell_β^{\mp}+\slashed E $. Using the processes with $\ell_α\ell_β=ee,eμ,μμ$, we found that an inclusive cut on the $M_{T2}$ event variable is vital in our analysis and leads to an effective suppression of the large Standard Model background. Our results show poss…
We propose a new possibility of using the coherently enhanced neutrino pair emission to probe light-mediator interactions between electron and neutrinos. With typical momentum transfer at the atomic $\mathcal O(1$\,eV) scale, this process is extremely sensitive for the mediator mass range $\mathcal O(10^{-3} \sim 10^4$) eV. The sensitivity on the product of couplings with electron ($g^e$ or $y^e$) and neutrinos ($g^ν$ or $y^ν$) can touch down to $|y^e y^ν| < 10^{-9} \sim 10^{-19}$ for a scalar mediator and $|g^e g^ν| < 10^{-15} \sim 10^{-26}$ for a vector one, with orders of improvement from t…
Neutrinos in the Standard Model (SM) are considered to be massless which is in contradiction with the evidence from the neutrino oscillation data. These experiments established that at least two SM neutrinos have non-zero masses and that individual lepton numbers are violated. This is strong evidence of new physics beyond the SM that should be responsible for generating non zero mass for the neutrinos. In this work, we study the collider phenomenology of an extension of the SM where neutrinos are generated radiatively at three-loop. We show that the production of same-sign dilepton at lepton c…
There exist tree-level generalizations of the Type-I and Type-III seesaw mechanisms that realize neutrino mass via low-energy effective operators with d>5. However, these generalizations also give radiative masses that can dominate the seesaw masses in regions of parameter space --- i.e. they are not purely seesaw models, nor are they purely radiative models, but instead they are something in between. A recent work detailed the remaining minimal models of this type. Here we study the remaining model with d=9 and investigate the collider phenomenology of the exotic quadruplet fermions it predic…
In this work, we probe a class of neutrino mass models through the lepton flavor violating interactions of a singlet charged scalar, $S^{\pm}$ at the LHC proton-proton collisions with 8 TeV and 14 TeV energies. This scalar couples to the leptons and induces many processes such as $pp\rightarrow\ell^{\pm}\ell^{\pm}\ell^{\mp}+\slashed{E}_{T}$. In our analysis we discuss the opposite sign same flavor leptons signal, as well as the background free channel with the tau contribution which can enhance the signal/background ratio for center of mass energies $\sqrt{s}$= 8 TeV and $\sqrt{s}$ = 14 TeV.
Gluon bremsstrahlung induced by multiple parton scattering in a finite dense medium has a unique angular distribution with respect to the initial parton direction. A dead-cone structure with an opening angle $θ^2_0 \approx 2(1-z)/(zLE)$ for gluons with fractional energy $z$ arises from the Landau-Pomeranchuck-Migdal (LPM) interference. In a medium where the gluon's dielectric constant is $ε>1$, the LPM interference pattern is shown to become Cherenkov-like with an increased opening angle determined by the dielectric constant $\cos^2θ_c=z+(1-z)/ε$. For a large dielectric constant $ε\gg 1+2/z^2L…
In this work, we have adopted the spin rearrangement scheme in the heavy quark limit and extensively investigated three classes of the radiative decays: $\mathfrak{M}\to (b\bar{b})+γ$, $(b\bar{b})\to \mathfrak{M}+γ$, $ \mathfrak{M} \to \mathfrak{M}^\prime+γ$, corresponding to the electromagnetic transitions between one molecular state and bottomonium, one bottomonium and molecular state, and two molecular states respectively. We also extend the same formalism to study the radiative decays of the molecular states with hidden charm. We have derived some model independent ratios when the initial …
We calculate the Cherenkov process nu -> nu+photon in the presence of a homogeneous magnetic field. The neutrinos are taken to be massless with only standard-model couplings. The magnetic field fulfills the dual purpose of inducing an effective neutrino-photon vertex and of modifying the photon dispersion relation such that the Cherenkov condition is fulfilled. Our effect is closely related to photon splitting that occurs in magnetic fields and that may be astrophysically important in the strong magnetic fields of pulsars. It is also closely related to magnetic-field enhanced radiative decays …
The decay of dark matter particles which are coupled predominantly to charged leptons has been proposed as a possible origin of excess high-energy positrons and electrons observed by cosmic-ray telescopes PAMELA and Fermi LAT. Even though the dark matter itself is electrically neutral, the tree-level decay of dark matter into charged lepton pairs will generically induce radiative two-body decays of dark matter at the quantum level. Using an effective theory of leptophilic dark matter decay, we calculate the rates of radiative two-body decays for scalar and fermionic dark matter particles. Due …
Indirect detection opens a unique window for probing thermal dark matter (DM): the same annihilation process that determined the relic abundance in the early Universe drives the present day astrophysical signal. While TeV-scale particles weakly coupled to the Standard Model face undoubted challenges from decades of null searches, the scenario remains compelling, and simple realizations such as Higgsino DM remain largely unexplored. The fate of such scenarios could be determined by gamma-ray observations of the centre of the Milky Way with Imaging Atmospheric Cherenkov Telescopes (IACTs). We co…
We point out that solar neutrino oscillations with large mixing angle as evidenced in current solar neutrino data have a strong impact on strategies for diagnosing collapse-driven supernova (SN) through neutrino observations. Such oscillations induce a significant deformation of the energy spectra of neutrinos, thereby allowing us to obtain otherwise inaccessible features of SN neutrino spectra. We demonstrate that one can determine temperatures and luminosities of non-electron flavor neutrinos by observing bar{nu}_{e} from galactic SN in massive water Cherenkov detectors by the charged curren…
We present a generalization of a model where the right-handed up-type quarks serve as messengers for neutrino mass generation and as a portal for dark matter. Within this framework the Standard Model is extended with a single Majorana neutrino, a coloured electroweak-singlet scalar and a coloured electroweak-triplet scalar. We calculate the relic abundance of dark matter and show that we can match the latest experimental results. Furthermore, the implications from the scattering between nuclei and the dark matter candidate are studied and we implement the latest experimental constraints arisin…
Detecting supernova $ν_e$ is essential for testing supernova and neutrino physics, but the yields are small and the backgrounds from other channels large, e.g., $\sim 10^2$ and $\sim 10^4$ events, respectively, in Super-Kamiokande. We develop a new way to isolate supernova $ν_e$, using gadolinium-loaded water Cherenkov detectors. The forward-peaked nature of $ν_e + e^- \rightarrow ν_e + e^-$ allows an angular cut that contains the majority of events. Even in a narrow cone, near-isotropic inverse beta events, $\barν_e + p \rightarrow e^+ + n$, are a large background. With neutron detection by r…
We investigate the $B+L$ violation process by performing three-dimensional lattice simulations in an electroweak theory with first-order phase transition and the electroweak sphaleron decay. The simulation results indicate that the Chern-Simons number changes along with the helical magnetic field production when the sphaleron decay occurs. Our study suggests that, for the electroweak phase transition with nucleation rate being smaller than $\sim \mathcal{O}(10)$, the helical magnetic field with the fractional magnetic helicity $ε_M\leq 0.2$ can be probed by Cherenkov Telescope Array through th…
We study vector portal dark matter models where the mediator couples only to leptons. In spite of the lack of tree-level couplings to colored states, radiative effects generate interactions with quark fields that could give rise to a signal in current and future experiments. We identify such experimental signatures: scattering of nuclei in dark matter direct detection; resonant production of lepton-antilepton pairs at the Large Hadron Collider; and hadronic final states in dark matter indirect searches. Furthermore, radiative effects also generate an irreducible mass mixing between the vector …
In the presence of transition magnetic moments between active and sterile neutrinos, the search for a Primakoff upscattering process at coherent elastic neutrino-nucleus scattering (CE$ν$NS) experiments can provide stringent constraints on the neutrino magnetic moment. We show that a radiative upscattering process with an emitted photon in the final state can induce a novel coincidence signal at CE$ν$NS experiments that can also probe neutrino transition magnetic moments beyond existing limits. Furthermore, the differential distributions for such a radiative mode can also potentially be sensit…
We study a possibility to measure the anomalous magnetic moment of vector leptoquarks in reactions with single leptoquark production associated with hard photon emission in ep collisions. For this purpose we propose to use the radiative amplitude zero effect. We find that an exact radiative zero in the angular distribution of the emitted photon is present only for pure Yang-Mills coupling of photons to leptoquarks. As a result the cross section is sensitive to the anomalous magnetic moment kappa of the leptoquark. This effect offers a possibility to measure kappa with rather high accuracy. For…
We analyze the possibility of probing non-standard neutrino interactions (NSI, for short) through the detection of neutrinos produced in a future galactic supernova (SN).We consider the effect of NSI on the neutrino propagation through the SN envelope within a three-neutrino framework, paying special attention to the inclusion of NSI-induced resonant conversions, which may take place in the most deleptonised inner layers. We study the possibility of detecting NSI effects in a Megaton water Cherenkov detector, either through modulation effects in the $\barν_e$ spectrum due to (i) the passage of…
Flat spectrum radio quasar (FSRQ) is the most luminous blazar at the GeV energies. In this paper, we probe the photon-axion-like particle (ALP) oscillation effect on the latest very-high-energy (VHE) $γ$-ray observations of the FSRQ 4C+21.35 (PKS 1222+216). The $γ$-ray spectra are measured by the collaborations Major Atmospheric Gamma Imaging Cherenkov Telescopes (MAGIC), Very Energetic Radiation Imaging Telescope Array System (VERITAS), and Fermi Large Area Telescope (Fermi-LAT), which cover two activity VHE flares of 4C+21.35 in 2010 and 2014. We show the spectral energy distributions (SEDs)…
We give a generic method to select a realistic $μ$-term generation mechanism based on the radiative electroweak symmetry breaking scenario and study which type is hopeful within the framework of string theory. We discuss effects of the moduli F-term condensation and D-term contribution to soft scalar masses.
Recent measurements of the Higgs-muon coupling are directly probing muon mass generation for the first time. We classify minimal models with a one-loop radiative mass mechanism and show that benchmark models are consistent with current experimental results. We find that these models are best probed by measurements of $(g-2)_μ$, even when taking into account the precision of Higgs measurements expected at future colliders. The current $(g-2)_μ$ anomaly, if confirmed, could therefore be a first hint that the muon mass has a radiative origin.
We show how 21 cm cosmology can test relic neutrino radiative decays into sterile neutrinos. Using recent EDGES results, we derive constraints on the lifetime of the decaying neutrinos. If the EDGES anomaly will be confirmed, then there are two solutions, one for much longer and one for much shorter lifetimes than the age of the universe, showing how relic neutrino radiative decays can explain the anomaly in a simple way. We also show how to combine EDGES results with those from radio background observations, showing that potentially the ARCADE 2 excess can be also reproduced together with the…
The discrimination of the two possible options for the neutrino mass ordering (normal or inverted) is a major goal for current and future neutrino oscillation experiments. Such goal might be reached by observing high-statistics energy-angle spectra of events induced by atmospheric neutrinos and antineutrinos propagating in the Earth matter. Large volume water-Cherenkov detectors envisaged to this purpose include the so-called KM3NeT-ORCA project (in seawater) and the IceCube-PINGU project (in ice). Building upon a previous work focused on PINGU, we study in detail the effects of various system…
We perform a systematic study of the production of a third-generation fermion-pair, $μ^+μ^-\to f\bar{f}$ for $f=τ^-,b$, and t in the minimal supersymmetric standard model (MSSM) with explicit CP violation, which is induced radiatively by soft trilinear interactions related to squarks of the third generation. We classify all the observables for probing the CP property of the Higgs bosons constructed by the initial muon beam polarization along with the unpolarized final fermions and with the final-fermion polarization configuration of equal helicity, respectively. The observables allow for compl…
We study the detection prospects of relatively light charged scalars in radiative Majorana neutrino mass models, such as the Zee model and its variants using scalar leptoquarks, at current and future neutrino telescopes. In particular, we show that these scalar mediators can give rise to Glashow-like resonance features in the ultra-high energy neutrino (UHE) event spectrum at the IceCube neutrino observatory and its high-energy upgrade IceCube-Gen2. The same scalars can also give rise to observable non-standard neutrino interactions (NSI), and we show that the UHE neutrinos provide a complemen…
Very recently, the LHCb Collaboration reported the doubly charmed tetraquark state $T_{cc}^+$ below the $D^{*+}D^0$ threshold about $273$ keV. As a very near-threshold state, its long-distance structure is very important. In the molecular scheme, we relate the coupling constants of $T_{cc}^+$ with $D^{*0}D^+$ and $D^{*+}D^0$ to its binding energy and mixing angle of two components with a coupled-channel effective field theory. With the coupling constants, we investigate the kinetically allowed strong decays $T_{cc}^+\to D^0D^0π^+$, $T_{cc}^+\to D^+D^0π^0$ and radiative decays $D^+D^0 γ$. Our r…
We summarize the status of calculations of the electroweak radiative corrections to W and Z boson production via the Drell-Yan mechanism at hadron colliders. To fully exploit the precision physics potential of the high-luminosity environment of the Fermilab Tevatron pbar p (Run II) and the CERN LHC pp colliders, it is crucial that the theoretical predictions are well under control. The envisioned precision physics program includes a precise measurement of the W boson mass and width, and the (leptonic) weak mixing angle, as well as probing the Standard Model (SM) of electroweak interactions at …
The quantum theory of the ``spin light'' (electromagnetic radiation emitted by a massive neutrino propagating in dense matter due to the weak interaction of a neutrino with background fermions) is developed. In contrast to the Cherenkov radiation, this effect does not disappear even if the medium refractive index is assumed to be equal to unity. The formulas for the transition rate and the total radiation power are obtained. It is found out that radiation of photons is possible only when the sign of the particle helicity is opposite to that of the effective potential describing the interaction…
Being able to safely distinguish astrophysical from potential dark matter (DM) annihilation signals is of utmost importance for indirect DM searches. To this end, one has to rely on distinctive -- and unique -- spectral signatures to look for. Internal bremsstrahlung (IB), unavoidable in the presence of charged annihilation products, provides such a signature. In fact, as it generically dominates the gamma-ray spectrum expected from DM annihilations, at high energies, it may well turn out to be more important for indirect DM searches than the traditionally looked-for line signals. As illustrat…

Precision measurements of the Higgs couplings are, for the first time, directly probing the mechanism of fermion mass generation. The purpose of this work is to determine to what extent these measurements can distinguish between the tree-level mechanism of the Standard Model and the theoretically motivated alternative of radiative mass generation. Focusing on the third-family, we classify the minimal one-loop models and find that they fall into two general classes. By exploring several benchmark models in detail, we demonstrate that a radiative origin for the tau-lepton and bottom-quark masses…
Extended Higgs sectors have been studied extensively in context of dark matter phenomenology in tandem with other aspects. In this study, we compute radiative corrections to the dark matter-Higgs portal coupling, which is in fact a common feature of all scalar dark matter models irrespective of the hypercharge of the multiplet from which the dark matter candidate emerges. We select the popular inert doublet model (IDM) as a prototype in order to demonstrate the impact of the next-to-leading order corrections, thereby probing the plausibility of extending the allowed parameter space through qua…
We investigate the possibility to probe lepton number violating (LNV) operators in the rare kaon decay $K\toπνν$. Performing the analysis in the Standard Model effective field theory with only light active Majorana neutrinos, we determine the current limits on the corresponding LNV physics scale from the past E949 experiment at BNL as well as the currently operating experiments NA62 at CERN and KOTO at J-PARC. We focus on the specific signature of scalar currents in $K\toπνν$ arising from the LNV nature of the operators and study the effect on the experimental sensitivity, stressing the need f…
