Hilbert space fusion frames are a natural extension of Hilbert space frames, extending the notion from a set of vectors in a Hilbert space to a set of subspaces of a Hilbert space with analogous notions of overcompleteness and boundedness. As tight frames are a very important topic within standard frame theory, tight fusion frames are similarly important; however, only trivial examples of tight fusion frames are hitherto known. In this paper, we apply ideas from Gabor analysis to demonstrate a non-trivial construction of tight fusion frames. We then use this construction to further show their …

This paper demonstrates that random, independently chosen equi-dimensional subspaces with a unitarily invariant distribution in a real Hilbert space provide nearly tight, nearly equiangular fusion frames. The angle between a pair of subspaces is measured in terms of the Hilbert-Schmidt inner product of the corresponding orthogonal projections. If the subspaces are selected at random, then a measure concentration argument shows that these inner products concentrate near an average value. Overwhelming success probability for near tightness and equiangularity is guaranteed if the dimension of the…

Naimark complements for Hilbert space Parseval frames are one of the most fundamental and useful results in the field of frame theory. We will show that actually all Hilbert space frames have Naimark complements which possess all the usual properties for Naimark complements with one notable exception. So these complements can be used for equiangular frames, RIP property, fusion frames etc. Along the way, we will correct a mistake in a recent fusion frame paper where chordal distances for Naimark complements are computed incorrectly.

A Hilbert space frame on $R^n$ is {\it scalable} if we can scale the vectors to make them a tight frame. There are known classifications of scalable frames. There are two basic questions here which have never been answered in any $R^n$: Given a frame in $R^n$, how do we scale the vectors to minimize the condition number of the frame? I.e. How do we scale the frame to make it as tight as possible? If we are only allowed to use scaling numbers from the interval $[1-ε,1+ε]$, how do we scale the frame to minimize the condition number? We will answer these two questions in $R^2$ to begin the proces…
For finding the numerical solution of operator equations in many applications a decomposition in subspaces is needed. In this article we introduce the notion of $J$-fusion frame for a Krein space $\mathbb{K}$. We relate this new concept with fusion frames for Hilbert spaces and also with $J$-frames for Krein spaces. We also approximate $J$-fusion frame bounds of a $J$-fusion frame by the upper and lower bounds of the synthesis operator. Finally we address the problem of characterizing those bounded linear operators in $\mathbb{K}$ for which the image of $J$-fusion frame is also a $J$-fusion frame.

Recently, fusion frames and frames for operators were considered as generalizations of frames in Hilbert spaces. In this paper, we generalize some of the known results in frame theory to fusion frames related to a linear bounded operator K which we call K-fusion frames. We further give some characterizations of atomic systems with subspace sequences.
