In these notes we study integrable structure of conformal field theory by means of Liouville reflection operator/Maulik-Okounkov $R$-matrix. We discuss the relation between $RLL$ and current realization of the affine Yangian of $\mathfrak{gl}(1)$. We construct the family of commuting transfer matrices related to the Intermediate Long Wave hierarchy and derive Bethe ansatz equations for their spectra discovered by Nekrasov and Okounkov and independently by one of the authors. Our derivation mostly follows the one by Feigin, Jimbo, Miwa and Mukhin, but is adapted to the conformal case.
We discuss the relation between the recently derived bound state S-matrices for the AdS5 x S5 superstring and Yangian symmetry. We will study the relation between this Yangian symmetry and the Bethe ansatz. In particular we can use it to derive the Bethe equations for bound states.
We study the analytic Bethe ansatz in solvable vertex models associated with the Yangian $Y(X_r)$ or its quantum affine analogue $U_q(X^{(1)}_r)$ for $X_r = B_r, C_r$ and $D_r$. Eigenvalue formulas are proposed for the transfer matrices related to all the fundamental representations of $Y(X_r)$. Under the Bethe ansatz equation, we explicitly prove that they are pole-free, a crucial property in the ansatz. Conjectures are also given on higher representation cases by applying the $T$-system, the transfer matrix functional relations proposed recently. The eigenvalues are neatly described in terms…
Integrability is believed to underlie the AdS3/CFT2 correspondence with sixteen supercharges. We elucidate the role of massless modes within this integrable framework. Firstly, we find the dressing factors that enter the massless and mixed-mass worldsheet S matrix. Secondly, we derive a set of all-loop Bethe Equations for the closed strings, determine their symmetries and weak-coupling limit. Thirdly, we investigate the underlying Yangian symmetry in the massless sector and show that it fits into the general framework of Yangian integrability. In addition, we compare our S matrix in the near-r…
In these notes we study integrable structures of conformal field theory with $\textrm{BCD}$ symmetry. We realise these integrable structures as affine Yangian $\mathfrak{gl}(1)$ "spin chains" with boundaries. We provide three solutions of Sklyanin $\textrm{KRKR}$ equation compatible with affine Yangian $R$-matrix and derive Bethe ansatz equations for the spectrum.
We study Bethe vectors of integrable models based on the super-Yangian $Y(\mathfrak{gl}(m|n))$. Starting from the super-trace formula, we exhibit recursion relations for these vectors in the case of $Y(\mathfrak{gl}(2|1))$ and $Y(\mathfrak{gl}(1|2))$. These recursion relations allow to get explicit expressions for the Bethe vectors. Using an antimorphism of the super-Yangian $Y(\mathfrak{gl}(m|n))$, we also construct a super-trace formula for dual Bethe vectors, and, for $Y(\mathfrak{gl}(2|1))$ and $Y(\mathfrak{gl}(1|2))$ super-Yangians, show recursion relations for them. Again, the latter all…
We present a nested algebraic Bethe ansatz for a one dimensional open spin chain whose boundary quantum spaces are irreducible $\mathfrak{so}_{2n}$- or $\mathfrak{sp}_{2n}$-representations and the monodromy matrix satisfies the defining relations of the Olshanskii twisted Yangian $Y^\pm(\mathfrak{gl}_{2n})$. We use a generalization of the Bethe ansatz introduced by De Vega and Karowski which allows us to relate the spectral problem of a $\mathfrak{so}_{2n}$- or $\mathfrak{sp}_{2n}$-symmetric open spin chain to that of a $\mathfrak{gl}_{n}$-symmetric periodic spin chain. We explicitly derive th…
The labelling of states of irreducible representations of GL(3) in an O(3) basis is well known to require the addition of a single O(3)-invariant operator, to the standard diagonalisable set of Casimir operators in the subgroup chain GL(3) - O(3) - O(2). Moreover, this `missing label' operator must be a function of the two independent cubic and quartic invariants which can be constructed in terms of the angular momentum vector and the quadrupole tensor. It is pointed out that there is a unique (in a well-defined sense) combination of these which belongs to the O(3) invariant Bethe subalgebra o…
We reformulate the nested coordinate Bethe ansatz in terms of coproducts of Yangian symmetry generators. This allows us to derive the nested Bethe equations for the bound state string S-matrices. We find that they coincide with the Bethe equations obtained from a fusion procedure. The bound state number dependence in the Bethe equations appears through the parameters x^{\pm} and the dressing phase only.
The quantum theory of the Liouville model with imaginary field is considered using the quantum inverse scattering method. An integrable structure with nontrivial spectral parameter dependence is developed for lattice Liouville theory by scaling the $L$-matrix of lattice sine-Gordon theory. This $L$-matrix yields Bethe Ansatz equations for Liouville theory, by the methods of the algebraic Bethe Ansatz. Using the string picture of exited Bethe states, the lattice Liouville Bethe equations are mapped to the corresponding equations for the spin 1/2 XXZ chain. The well developed theory of finite si…
We consider the sl(N) twisted Yangian quantum spin chain. In particular, we study the bulk and boundary scattering of the model via the solution of the Bethe ansatz equations in the thermodynamic limit. Local defects are also implemented in the model and the associated transmission amplitudes are derived through the relevant Bethe ansatz equations.
In this paper we derive the universal R-matrix for the Yangian Y(u(2|2)), which is an abstract algebraic object leading to rational solutions of the Yang-Baxter equation on representations. We find that on the fundamental representation the universal R-matrix reduces to the standard rational R-matrix R = R_0(1 + P/u), where the scalar prefactor is surprisingly simple compared to prefactors one finds e.g. for sl(n) R-matrices. This leads precisely to the S-matrix giving the Bethe Ansatz of one-loop N = 4 Super Yang-Mills theory and two-loop N = 6 Chern-Simons theory.
We propose that Baxter's Z-invariant six-vertex model at the rational gl(2) point on a planar but in general not rectangular lattice provides a way to study Yangian invariants. These are identified with eigenfunctions of certain monodromies of an auxiliary inhomogeneous spin chain. As a consequence they are special solutions to the eigenvalue problem of the associated transfer matrix. Excitingly, this allows to construct them using Bethe ansatz techniques. Conceptually, our construction generalizes to general (super) Lie algebras and general representations. Here we present the explicit form o…
Using considerations based on the thermodynamical Bethe ansatz as well representation theory of twisted Yangians we derive an exact expression for the overlaps between the Bethe eigenstates of the $SO(6)$ spin chain and matrix product states built from matrices whose commutators generate an irreducible representation of $\mathfrak{so}(5)$. The latter play the role of boundary states in a domain wall version of ${\cal N}=4$ SYM theory which has non-vanishing, $SO(5)$ symmetric vacuum expectation values on one side of a co-dimension one wall. This theory, which constitutes a defect CFT, is known…
This paper is devoted to study of integrable structures in superconformal field theory and more general coset CFT's related to the affine Yangian $\textrm{Y}\big(\widehat{\mathfrak{gl}}(2)\big)$. We derive the relation between the RLL and current realizations and prove Bethe anzatz equations for the spectrum of Integrals of Motion.
The representations of the degenerate affine Hecke algebra in which the analogues of the Dunkl operators are given by finite-difference operators are introduced. The non-selfadjoint lattice analogues of the spin Calogero-Sutherland hamiltonians are analysed by Bethe-Ansatz. The $ sl(m)$-Yangian representations arising from the finite-difference representations of the degenerate affine Hecke algebra are shown to be related to the Yangian representation of the 1-d Hubbard Model.
We study the bulk and boundary scattering of the sl(N) twisted Yangian spin chain via the solution of the Bethe ansatz equations in the thermodynamic limit. Explicit expressions for the scattering amplitudes are obtained and the factorization of the bulk scattering is shown. The issue of defects in twisted Yangians is also briefly discussed.
We present a classification of diagonal, antidiagonal and mixed reflection matrices related to Yangian and super-Yangian R matrices associated to the infinite series so(m), sp(n) and osp(m|n). We formulate the analytical Bethe Ansatz resolution for the so(m) and sp(n) open spin chains with boundary conditions described by the diagonal solutions.
In this article we have discovered a close relationship between the (algebraic) Bethe Ansatz equations of the spin $s$ XXZ model of a finite size and the $q$-Sturm-Liouville problem. We have demonstrated that solutions of the Bethe Ansatz equations give rise to the polynomial solutions of a second order $q$-difference equation in terms of Askey-Wilson operator. The more general form of Bethe Ansatz equations and the mathematical problems relevant to the physics of XXZ model are discussed. Furthermore, the similar correspondence between Bethe Ansatz equations of XXX model and the Sturm-Liouvill…
We develop a new approach to Baxter Q-operators by relating them to the theory of Yangians, which are the simplest examples for quantum groups. Here we open up a new chapter in this theory and study certain degenerate solutions of the Yang-Baxter equation connected with harmonic oscillator algebras. These infinite-state solutions of the Yang-Baxter equation serve as elementary, "partonic" building blocks for other solutions via the standard fusion procedure. As a first example of the method we consider sl(n) compact spin chains and derive the full hierarchy of operatorial functional equations …
Inspired by the integrable structures appearing in weakly coupled planar N=4 super Yang-Mills theory, we study Q-operators and Yangian invariants of rational integrable spin chains. We review the quantum inverse scattering method along with the Yang-Baxter equation which is the key relation in this systematic approach to study integrable models. Our main interest concerns rational integrable spin chains and lattice models. We recall the relation among them and how they can be solved using Bethe ansatz methods incorporating so-called Q-functions. In order to remind the reader how the Yangian em…
We study SU(3)-invariant integrable models solvable by nested algebraic Bethe ansatz. Different formulas are given for the Bethe vectors and the actions of the generators of the Yangian Y(sl(3)) on Bethe vectors are considered. These actions are relevant for the calculation of correlation functions and form factors of local operators of the underlying quantum models.
A strongly correlated electron system with controlled hopping, in the line of the recently proposed generalized Hubbard models as candidates for high T_c-superconductors, is considered. The model along with a whole class of such systems are shown to be completely integrable with explicit quantum R-matrices and the Lax operators. Inspite of novelties in the Bethe ansatz solution, the final results do not deviate much from those of the standard Hubbard model. However, the symmetry of the model is changed to a recently discovered twisted Yangian symmetry.
We study integrable deformations of sine-Liouville conformal field theory. Every integrable perturbation of this model is related to the series of quantum integrals of motion (hierarchy). We construct the factorized scattering matrices for different integrable perturbed conformal field theories. The perturbation theory, Bethe ansatz technique, renormalization group and methods of perturbed conformal field theory are applied to show that all integrable deformations of sine-Liouville model possess non-trivial duality properties.
We formulate the Bethe Ansatz equations for the open super spin chain based on the super Yangian of osp(M|2n) and with diagonal boundary conditions. We then study the bulk and boundary scattering of the osp(1|2n) open spin chain.
We study the partition function of the six-vertex model in the rational limit on arbitrary Baxter lattices with reflecting boundary. Every such lattice is interpreted as an invariant of the twisted Yangian. This identification allows us to relate the partition function of the vertex model to the Bethe wave function of an open spin chain. We obtain the partition function in terms of creation operators on a reference state from the algebraic Bethe ansatz and as a sum of permutations and reflections from the coordinate Bethe ansatz.
We present a nested algebraic Bethe ansatz for one-dimensional open so(2n)- and sp(2n)-symmetric spin chains with diagonal boundary conditions and described by the extended twisted Yangian. We use a generalization of the Bethe ansatz introduced by De Vega and Karowski which allows us to relate the spectral problem of a so(2n)- or sp(2n)-symmetric open spin chain to that of a gl(n)-symmetric open spin chain. We explicitly derive the structure of Bethe vectors and the nested Bethe equations.
Two implicit periodic structures in the solution of sinh-Gordon thermodynamic Bethe ansatz equation are considered. The analytic structure of the solution as a function of complex $θ$ is studied to some extent both analytically and numerically. The results make a hint how the CFT integrable structures can be relevant in the sinh-Gordon and staircase models. More motivations are figured out for subsequent studies of the massless sinh-Gordon (i.e. Liouville) TBA equation.
The ground state energy of the sinh-Gordon model defined on the strip is studied using the boundary thermodynamic Bethe ansatz equation. Its ultraviolet (small width of the strip) behavior is compared with the one obtained from the boundary Liouville reflection amplitude. The results are in perfect agreement in the allowable range of the parameters and provide convincing support for both approaches. We also describe how the ultraviolet limit of the effective central charge can exceed one in the parameter range when the Liouville zero mode forms a bound state.
An announcement of some results of a longer paper where the supersymmetric vacua of two dimensional N=2 susy gauge theories with matter are shown to be in one-to-one correspondence with the eigenstates of integrable spin chain Hamiltonians. The Heisenberg spin chain is mapped to the two dimensional U(N) theory with fundamental hypermultiplets, the XXZ spin chain is mapped to the analogous three dimensional super-Yang-Mills theory compactified on a circle, the XYZ spin chain and eight-vertex model are related to the four dimensional theory compactified on a torus. The correspondence extends to …
We consider quantum integrable models associated with $\mathfrak{so}_3$ algebra. We describe Bethe vectors of these models in terms of the current generators of the $\mathcal{D}Y(\mathfrak{so}_3)$ algebra. To implement this approach we use isomorphism between $R$-matrix and Drinfeld current realizations of the Yangians and their doubles for classical types $B$, $C$, and $D$ series algebras. Using these results we derive the actions of the monodromy matrix elements on off-shell Bethe vectors. We show that these action formulas lead to recursions for off-shell Bethe vectors and Bethe equations f…
We study an integrable deformation of the super-Liouville theory which generates a RG flows to the critical Ising model as the IR fixed point. This model turns out to be a supersymmetric sinh-Gordon model with spontaneously broken N=1 supersymmetry. The resulting massless Goldstino is the only stable on-shell particle which controls the IR behaviours. We propose the exact $S$-matrix of the Goldstino and compare associated thermodynamic Bethe ansatz equations with the quantization conditions derived from the reflection amplitudes of the the super-Liouville theory to provide nonperturbative chec…
We present an ``algebraic treatment'' of the analytical Bethe ansatz for open spin chains with soliton non preserving (SNP) boundary conditions. For this purpose, we introduce abstract monodromy and transfer matrices which provide an algebraic framework for the analytical Bethe ansatz. It allows us to deal with a generic gl(N) open SNP spin chain possessing on each site an arbitrary representation. As a result, we obtain the Bethe equations in their full generality. The classification of finite dimensional irreducible representations for the twisted Yangians are directly linked to the calculat…
We introduce a new concept of quasi-Yang-Baxter algebras. The quantum quasi-Yang-Baxter algebras being simple but non-trivial deformations of ordinary algebras of monodromy matrices realize a new type of quantum dynamical symmetries and find an unexpected and remarkable applications in quantum inverse scattering method (QISM). We show that applying to quasi-Yang-Baxter algebras the standard procedure of QISM one obtains new wide classes of quantum models which, being integrable (i.e. having enough number of commuting integrals of motion) are only quasi-exactly solvable (i.e. admit an algebraic…
We study representation theory of Drinfel'd twists, in terms of what we call F matrices, associated to finite dimensional irreducible modules of quantum affine algebras, and which factorize the corresponding (unitary) R matrices. We construct explicitly such factorizing F matrices for irreducible tensor products of the fundamental representations of the quantum affine algebra sl2 and its associated Yangian. We then apply these constructions to the XXX and XXZ quantum spins chains of finite length in the framework of the Algebraic Bethe Ansatz.
The maximally supersymmetric Yang-Mills theory in four-dimensional Minkowski space is an exceptional model of mathematical physics. Even more so in the planar limit, where the theory is believed to be integrable. In particular, the tree-level scattering amplitudes were shown to be invariant under the Yangian of the superconformal algebra psu(2,2|4). This infinite-dimensional symmetry is a hallmark of integrability. In this dissertation we explore connections between these amplitudes and integrable models. Our aim is to lay foundations for an efficient integrability-based computation of amplitu…
In this paper we apply the nested algebraic Bethe ansatz to compute the eigenvalues and the Bethe equations of the transfer matrix of the new integrable Lindbladian found in [1]. We show that it can be written as an integrable spin chain consisting of two interacting XXZ spin chains. We numerically compute the Liouville gap and its dependence on the parameters in the system such as scaling with the system length and interaction strength.
In this paper we compute the scaling functions of the effective central charges for various quantum integrable models in a deep ultraviolet region $R\to 0$ using two independent methods. One is based on the ``reflection amplitudes'' of the (super-)Liouville field theory where the scaling functions are given by the conjugate momentum to the zero-modes. The conjugate momentum is quantized for the sinh-Gordon, the Bullough-Dodd, and the super sinh-Gordon models where the quantization conditions depend on the size $R$ of the system and the reflection amplitudes. The other method is to solve the st…
We introduce a series of articles reviewing various aspects of integrable models relevant to the AdS/CFT correspondence. Topics covered in these reviews are: classical integrability, Yangian symmetry, factorized scattering, the Bethe ansatz, the thermodynamic Bethe ansatz, and integrable structures in (conformal) quantum field theory. In the present article we highlight how these concepts have found application in AdS/CFT, and provide a brief overview of the material contained in this series.
We discuss an interrelation between quantum integrable models and classical soliton equations with discretized time. It appeared that spectral characteristics of quantum integrable systems may be obtained from entirely classical set up. Namely, the eigenvalues of the quantum transfer matrix and the scattering $S$-matrix itself are identified with a certain $τ$-functions of the discrete Liouville equation. The Bethe ansatz equations are obtained as dynamics of zeros. For comparison we also present the Bethe ansatz equations for elliptic solutions of the classical discrete Sine-Gordon equation. …
We consider the N-site U_{q}(gl(N)) integrable spin chain with periodic and open diagonal soliton-preserving boundary conditions. By employing analytical Bethe ansatz techniques we are able to determine the spectrum and the corresponding Bethe ansatz equations for the general case, where each site of the spin chain is associated to any representation of U_{q}(gl(N)). In the case of open spin chain, we study finite dimensional representations of the quantum reflection algebra, and prove in full generality that the pseudo-vacuum is a highest weight of the monodromy matrix. For these two types of…
We propose a way to separate variables in a rational integrable $\mathfrak{gl}(n)$ spin chain with an arbitrary finite-dimensional irreducible representation at each site and with generic twisted periodic boundary conditions. Firstly, we construct a basis that diagonalises a higher-rank version of the Sklyanin B-operator; the construction is based on recursive usage of an embedding of a $\mathfrak{gl}(k)$ spin chain into a $\mathfrak{gl}(k+1)$ spin chain which is induced from a Yangian homomorphism and controlled by dual diagonals of Gelfand-Tsetlin patterns. Then, we show that the same basis …
Three decades ago, Inozemtsev found an isotropic long-range spin chain with elliptic pair potential that interpolates between the Heisenberg and Haldane-Shastry (HS) spin chains while admitting an exact solution throughout, based on a connection with the elliptic quantum Calogero-Sutherland model. Though Inozemtsev's spin chain is widely believed to be quantum integrable, the underlying algebraic reason for its exact solvability is not yet well understood. As a step in this direction we refine Inozemtsev's `extended coordinate Bethe ansatz' and clarify various aspects of the model's exact spec…
The reflection operators are the simplest examples of the non-local integrals of motion, which appear in many interesting problems in integrable CFT. For the so-called Fateev, quantum AKNS, paperclip and KdV integrable structures, they are built from the (chiral) reflection S-matrices for the Liouville and cigar CFTs. Here we give the full spectrum of the reflection operators associated with these integrable structures. We also obtained a relation between the reflection S-matrices of the cigar and Liouville CFTs. The results of this work are applicable for the description of the scaling behavi…
R-matrix is explicitly constructed for simplest representations of the Ding-Iohara-Miki algebra. The calculation is straightforward and significantly simpler than the one through the universal R-matrix used for a similar calculation in the Yangian case by A.~Smirnov but less general. We investigate the interplay between the R-matrix structure and the structure of DIM algebra intertwiners, i.e.\ of refined topological vertices and show that the R-matrix is diagonalized by the action of the spectral duality belonging to the SL(2,Z) group of DIM algebra automorphisms. We also construct the T-oper…
The first part of this work consists of a study of the ODE/IM correspondence for simply-laced affine Toda field theories. It is a first step towards a full generalisation of the results of Lukyanov and Zamolodchikov on $\hat{\mathfrak a}_1$ to a general affine Lie-Kač-Moody algebra $\hat{\mathfrak g}$. In order to achieve our goal, we investigate the structure of evaluation representations of $\hat{\mathfrak g}$ and show how their tensor products are related by what we call projected isomorphisms. These isomorphisms are used to construct a set of quadratic functional relations, called $ψ$-syst…
