In terms of the creative microscoping method recently introduced by Guo and Zudilin and the Chinese remainder theorem for coprime polynomials, we establish a $q$-supercongruence with two parameters modulo $[n]Φ_n(q)^3$. Here $[n]=(1-q^n)/(1-q)$ and $Φ_n(q)$ is the $n$-th cyclotomic polynomial in $q$. In particular, we confirm a recent conjecture of Guo and give a complete $q$-analogue of Long's supercongruence. The latter is also a generalization of a recent $q$-supercongruence obtained by Guo and Schlosser.
By applying Chinese remainder theorem for coprime polynomials and the "creative microscoping" method recently introduced by the author and Zudilin, we establish parametric generalizations of three $q$-supercongruences modulo the fourth power of a cyclotomic polynomial. The original $q$-supercongruences then follow from these parametric generalizations by taking the limits as the parameter tends to $1$ (l'Hôpital's rule is utilized here). In particular, we prove a complete $q$-analogue of the (J.2) supercongruence of Van Hamme and a complete $q$-analogue of a "divergent" Ramanujan-type supercon…
Let $p>3$ be a prime, and let $m$ be an integer with $p\nmid m$. In the paper we prove some supercongruences concerning $$\align &\sum_{k=0}^{p-1}\frac{\binom{2k}k\binom{3k}k}{54^k},\ \sum_{k=0}^{p-1}\frac{\binom{2k}k\binom{4k}{2k}}{128^k},\ \sum_{k=0}^{p-1}\frac{\binom{3k}k\binom{6k}{3k}}{432^k}, &\sum_{k=0}^{p-1}\frac{\binom{2k}k^2\binom{3k}{k}}{m^k}, \sum_{k=0}^{p-1}\frac{\binom{2k}k^2\binom{4k}{2k}}{m^k},\ \sum_{k=0}^{p-1}\f{\binom{2k}k\binom{3k}{k}\binom{6k}{3k}}{m^k}\mod {p^2}.\endalign$$ Thus we solve some conjectures of Zhi-Wei Sun and the author.
Using the $q$-Wilf--Zeilberger method and a $q$-analogue of a "divergent" Ramanujan-type supercongruence, we give several $q$-supercongruences modulo the fourth power of a cyclotomic polynomial. One of them is a $q$-analogue of a supercongruence recently proved by Wang: for any prime $p>3$, $$ \sum_{k=0}^{p-1} (3k-1)\frac{(\frac{1}{2})_k (-\frac{1}{2})_k^2 }{k!^3}4^k\equiv p-2p^3 \pmod{p^4}, $$ where $(a)_k=a(a+1)\cdots (a+k-1)$ is the Pochhammer symbol.
Let $p$ be an odd prime, and let $a$ be a rational $p$-adic integer with $a\not\equiv 0\pmod p$. In this paper, using WZ method we establish the congruences for $\sum_{k=0}^{p-1} \binom ak^2(-1)^k(1-\frac 2ak)$ modulo $p^2$ and $\sum_{k=0}^{p-1} \binom ak^r(1-\frac 2ak)^s$ modulo $p^4$, where $r\in\{3,4\}$ and $s\in\{1,3\}$.
In 1997, van Hamme conjectured 13 Ramanujan-type supercongruences labeled (A.2)--(M.2). Using some combinatorial identities discovered by Sigma, we extend (A.2) and (H.2) to supercongruences modulo $p^4$ for primes $p\equiv 3\pmod{4}$, which appear to be new.
We establish some supercongruences for the truncated ${}_2F_1$ and ${}_3F_2$ hypergeometric series involving the $p$-adic Gamma functions. Some of these results extend the four Rodriguez-Villegas supercongruences on the truncated ${}_3F_2$ hypergeometric series. The corresponding conjectural supercongruences modulo $p^3$ are also proposed for further research.
In terms of the $q$-Saalschütz identity and the Chinese remainder theorem for coprime polynomials, we establish some $q$-supercongruences modulo the third power of a cyclotomic polynomial. In particular, we give a $q$-analogue of a formula due to Long and Ramakrishna [Adv. Math. 290 (2016), 773--808].
Using Watson's terminating $_8ϕ_7$ transformation formula, we prove a family of $q$-congruences modulo the square of a cyclotomic polynomial, which were originally conjectured by the author and Zudilin [J. Math. Anal. Appl. 475 (2019), 1636--646]. As an application, we deduce two supercongruences modulo $p^4$ ($p$ is an odd prime) and their $q$-analogues. This also partially confirms a special case of Swisher's (H.3) conjecture.
The purpose of this note is to obtain some congruences modulo a power of a prime $p$ involving the truncated hypergeometric series $$\sum_{k=1}^{p-1} {(x)_k(1-x)_k\over (1)_k^2}\cdot{1\over k^a}$$ for $a=1$ and $a=2$. In the last section, the special case $x=1/2$ is considered.
Let $Φ_n(q)$ be the $n$-th cyclotomic polynomial in $q$. Recently, the author and Zudilin provide a creative microscoping method to prove some $q$-supercongruences mainly modulo $Φ_n(q)^3$ by introducing an additional parameter $a$. In this paper, we use this creative microscoping method to confirm some conjectures on $q$-supercongruences modulo $Φ_n(q)^2$. We also give some parameter-generalizations of known $q$-supercongruences. For instance, we present further generalizations of a $q$-analogue of a famous supercongruence of Rodriguez-Villegas: $$ \sum_{k=0}^{p-1}\frac{{2k\choose k}^2}{16^k}…
In terms of the creative microscoping method recently introduced by Guo and Zudilin [Adv. Math. 346 (2019), 329--358], we find a $q$-supercongruence with four parameters modulo $Φ_n(q)(1-aq^n)(a-q^n)$, where $Φ_n(q)$ denotes the $n$-th cyclotomic polynomial in $q$. Then we empoly it and the Chinese remainder theorem for coprime polynomials to derive a $q$-supercongruence with two parameters modulo $[n]Φ_n(q)^3$, where $[n]=(1-q^n)/(1-q)$ is the $q$-integer.
We prove congruence relations modulo cyclotomic polynomials for multisums of $q$-factorial ratios, therefore generalizing many well-known $p$-Lucas congruences. Such congruences connect various classical generating series to their $q$-analogs. Using this, we prove a propagation phenomenon: when these generating series are algebraically independent, this is also the case for their $q$-analogs.
Given a prime number $p$, the study of divisibility properties of a sequence $c(n)$ has two contending approaches: $p$-adic valuations and superconcongruences. The former searches for the highest power of $p$ dividing $c(n)$, for each $n$; while the latter (essentially) focuses on the maximal powers $r$ and $t$ such that $c(p^rn)$ is congruent to $c(p^{r-1}n)$ modulo $p^t$. This is called supercongruence. In this paper, we prove a conjecture on supercongruences for sequences that have come to be known as the Almkvist-Zudilin numbers. Some other (naturally) related family of sequences will be c…
We prove a supercongruence modulo $p^3$ between the $p$th Fourier coefficient of a weight 6 modular form and a truncated ${}_6F_5$-hypergeometric series. Novel ingredients in the proof are the comparison of two rational approximations to $ζ(3)$ to produce non-trivial harmonic sum identities and the reduction of the resulting congruences between harmonic sums via a congruence between the Apéry numbers and another Apéry-like sequence.
In the recent article arXiv:1606.03351, Apagodu and Zeilberger discuss some applications of an algorithm for finding and proving congruence identities (modulo primes) of indefinite sums of many combinatorial sequence. At the end they propose some supercongruences as conjectures. Here we prove one of them and we leave some remarks for the others.
In this paper we deduce some new supercongruences modulo powers of a prime $p>3$. Let $d\in\{0,1,\ldots,(p-1)/2\}$. We show that $$\sum_{k=0}^{(p-1)/2}\frac{\binom{2k}k\binom{2k}{k+d}}{8^k}\equiv 0\ (\mbox{mod}\ p)\ \ \ \mbox{if}\ d\equiv \frac{p+1}2\ (\mbox{mod}\ 2),$$ and $$\sum_{k=0}^{(p-1)/2}\frac{\binom{2k}k\binom{2k}{k+d}}{16^k} \equiv\left(\frac{-1}p\right)+p^2\frac{(-1)^d}4E_{p-3}\left(d+\frac12\right)\pmod{p^3},$$ where $E_{p-3}(x)$ denotes the Euler polynomial of degree $p-3$, and $(-)$ stands for the Legendre symbol. The paper also contains some other results such as $$\sum_{k=0}^{p…
We provide several new $q$-congruences for truncated basic hypergeometric series with the base being an even power of $q$. Our results mainly concern congruences modulo the square or the cube of a cyclotomic polynomial and complement corresponding ones of an earlier paper containing $q$-congruences for truncated basic hypergeometric series with the base being an odd power of $q$. We also give a number of related conjectures including $q$-congruences modulo the fifth power of a cyclotomic polynomial and a congruence for a truncated ordinary hypergeometric series modulo the seventh power of a pr…
We provide several new $q$-congruences for truncated basic hypergeometric series, mostly of arbitrary order. Our results include congruences modulo the square or the cube of a cyclotomic polynomial, and in some instances, parametric generalizations thereof. These are established by a variety of techniques including polynomial argument, creative microscoping (a method recently introduced by the first author in collaboration with Zudilin), Andrews' multiseries generalization of the Watson transformation, and induction. We also give a number of related conjectures including congruences modulo the…
