We prove prime geodesic theorems counting primitive closed geodesics on a compact hyperbolic 3-manifold with length and holonomy in prescribed intervals, which are allowed to shrink. Our results imply effective equidistribution of holonomy and have both the rate of shrinking and the strength of the error term fully symmetric in length and holonomy.

Through the Selberg zeta approach, we reduce the exponent in the error term of the prime geodesic theorem for cocompact Kleinian groups or Bianchi groups from Sarnak's $\frac{5}{3}$ to $\frac{3}{2}$. At the cost of excluding a set of finite logarithmic measure, the bound is further improved to $\frac{13}{9}$.
We find estimates for the restriction of automorphic forms on hyperbolic manifolds to compact geodesic cycles. The geodesic cycles we study are themselves hyperbolic manifolds of lower dimension. We prove the convergence and ergodicity of a wide class of real and higher-dimensional continued fraction algorithms, including folded and $α$-type variants of complex, quaternionic, octonionic, and Heisenberg continued fractions, which we combine under the framework of Iwasawa continued fractions. Let $\calM=Γ\bs \calH^{(n)}$, where $\calH^{(n)}$ is a product of $n+1$ hyperbolic planes and $Γ\subset\PSL(2,\bbR)^{n+1}$ is an irreducible cocompact lattice. We consider closed geodesics on $\calM$ that propagate locally only in one factor. We show that, as the length tends to infinity, the holonomy rotations attached to these geodesics become equidistributed in $\PSO(2)^n$ with respect to a certain measure. For the special case of lattices derived from quaternion algebras, we can give another interpretation of the holonomy angles under which this measure arises naturally.
For $n \ge 2$, we prove that a finite volume complex hyperbolic $n$-manifold containing infinitely many maximal properly immersed totally geodesic submanifolds of dimension at least two is arithmetic, paralleling our previous work for real hyperbolic manifolds. Periodic geodesics on the modular surface correspond to periodic orbits of the geodesic flow in its unit tangent bundle $\mathrm{PSL}_2(\mathbb{Z})\backslash\mathrm{PSL}_2(\mathbb{R})$. The complement of any finite number of orbits is a hyperbolic $3$-manifold, which thus has a well-defined volume. We present strong numerical evidence that, in the case of the set of geodesics corresponding to the ideal class group of a real quadratic field, the volume has linear asymptotics in terms of the total length of the geodesics. For every two points $z_0,z_1$ in the upper half-plane, consider all elements $γ$ in the principal congruence group $Γ(N)$, acting on the upper half-plane by fractional linear transformations, such that the hyperbolic distance between $z_1$ and $γz_0$ is at most $R>0$. We study embedding of closed totally geodesic hyperbolic 2-orbifolds in the Bianchi orbifolds $\mathbb{H}^3/PSL(2,\mathcal{O}_d)$. Our main result shows that there is a constant $c$ such that for $d$ large enough there are at least $cd$ closed embedded totally geodesic hyperbolic 2-orbifolds. Moreover we provide a list which conjecturally consists of those $d$ for which $\mathbb{H}^3/PSL(2,\mathcal{O}_d)$ does not contain a closed embedded totally geodesic hyperbolic 2-orbifold.
