The behavior of $π^0$ meson properties in the presence of a uniform external magnetic field is studied in the context of a nonlocal extension of the Polyakov-Nambu-Jona-Lasinio model. The analysis includes the $π^0$ mass, the effective $π^0$-quark coupling and the pion-to-vacuum hadronic form factors, both at zero and finite temperature. Numerical results are compared with previous calculations carried out within the local NJL model, when available. The validity of chiral relations and the features of deconfinement and chiral symmetry restoration transitions are discussed.
We study the behavior of two-flavor dense quark matter under the influence of an external magnetic field in the framework of a nonlocal chiral quark model with separable interactions. The nonlocality is incorporated in the model by using a Gaussian form factor. It is found that for low and moderate values of magnetic field there is a decrease of the critical chiral restoration chemical potential $μ_c$, i.e. an inverse magnetic catalysis effect is observed. For larger values of $eB$ the behavior of $μ_c$ becomes more or less flat, depending on the parametrization. Within the considered parametr…
We study the pion Distribution Amplitude (πDA) in the context of a nonlocal chiral quark model. The corresponding Lagrangian reproduces the phenomenological values of the pion mass and decay constant, as well as the momentum dependence of the quark propagator obtained in lattice calculations. It is found that the obtained πDA has two symmetric maxima, which arise from the new contributions generated by the nonlocal character of the interactions. This πDA is applied to leading order and next-to-leading order calculations of the pion-photon transition form factor. Implications of the results are…
We review a nonlocal-condensate approach and its application in QCD sum rules for the spacelike electromagnetic pion form factor. It is shown that the nonlocality of the condensates is a key point to include nonperturbative contributions to the pion form factor.
We investigate the leading-twist light-cone distribution amplitudes for the pion and kaon based on the gauge-invariant nonlocal chiral quark model from the instanton vacuum in the presence of external axial-vector currents. We find that the nonlocal contribution from the gauge invariance has much effects on the pion distribution amplitudes, while it changes mildly the kaon ones. We also study the Gegenbauer moments of the distribution amplitudes and compare them with the empirical analysis of the CLEO data.
We present results of a calculation of the electromagnetic pion form factor within the framework of QCD Sum Rules with nonlocal condensates, using a perturbative spectral density which includes $O(α_s)$ contributions.
On high $Q^{2}$ behavior of the pion form factor for transitions $γ^{\ast} γ\to π^{0}$ and $γ^{\ast} γ^{\ast} \to π^{0}$ within the nonlocal quark-pion model
A phenomenological pion-nucleon interaction is used to obtain pionic mass modification in presence of constant homogeneous magnetic field background at finite temperature and chemical potential in the real time formalism of thermal field theory. The magnetically modified propagator in its complete form is used to obtain the one loop self-energy for pions. For charged pions we find that the effective mass increases with the magnetic field at given temperature and chemical potential. Since the transverse momentum of charged pion is quantized and its contribution to Dyson-Schwinger Equation is la…
We use a simple, instanton motivated, nonlocal chiral quark model to calculate pion Generalized Distribution Amplitudes (GDAs). The nonlocality appears due to the momentum dependence of the constituent quark mass, which we take in a form of a generalized dipole formula. With this choice all calculations can be performed directly in the Minkowski space and the sensitivity to the shape of the cutoff function can be studied. We demonstrate that the model fulfills soft pion theorems both for chirally even and chirally odd GDAs. The latter one cannot be derived by the methods of current algebra. Wh…
We calculate the pion pole term of the light-by-light contribution to the $g-2$ of the muon in the framework of an effective chiral quark model with instanton-like nonlocal quark--quark interaction. The full kinematic dependence of the pion-photon transition form factors is taken into account. The dependence of form factors on the pion virtuality decreases the result by about 15% in comparison to the calculation where this dependence is neglected. Further, it is demonstrated that the QCD constraints suggested by Melnikov and Vainshtein are satisfied within the model. The corresponding contribu…
Starting from the QCD sum rules with nonlocal condensates for the pion distribution amplitude, we derive another sum rule for its derivative and its "integral" derivatives---defined in this work. We use this new sum rule to analyze the fine details of the pion distribution amplitude in the endpoint region $x\sim 0$. The results for endpoint-suppressed and flat-top (or flat-like) pion distribution amplitudes are compared with those we obtained with differential sum rules by employing two different models for the distribution of vacuum-quark virtualities. We determine the range of values of the …
We study the radiative pion decay pi+ -> e+ nu_e gamma within nonlocal chiral quark models that include wave function renormalization. In this framework we analyze the momentum dependence of the vector form factor F_V(q^2), and the slope of the axial-vector form factor F_A(q^2) at threshold. Our results are compared with available experimental information and with the predictions given by the NJL model. In addition we calculate the low energy constants l_5 and l_6, comparing our results with the values obtained in chiral perturbation theory.
We analyze the radiative pion decay pi+ -> e+ nu_e gamma within nonlocal chiral quark models that include wave function renormalization. In this framework we calculate the vector and axial-vector form factors FV and FA at q^2=0 --where q^2 is the (e+ ν_e) squared invariant mass-- and the slope a of FV(q^2) at q^2 -> 0. The calculations are carried out considering different nonlocal form factors, in particular those taken from lattice QCD evaluations, showing a reasonable agreement with the corresponding experimental data. The comparison of our results with those obtained in the (local) NJL mod…
The magnetized pure pion gradient ($\mathcal{5}ϕ$) phase in the deconfined Sakai-Sugimoto model is explored at zero and finite temperature. We found that the temperature has very small effects on the phase. The thermodynamical properties of the phase shows that the excitations behave like a scalar solitonic free particles. By comparing the free energy of the pion gradient phase to the competing multiquark-pion gradient (MQ-$\mathcal{5}ϕ$) phase, it becomes apparent that the pure pion gradient is less thermodynamically preferred than the MQ-$\mathcal{5}ϕ$ phase. However, in the parameter space …
We discuss the QCD sum-rule approach for the spacelike electromagnetic pion form factor in the $O(α_s)$ approximation. We show that the nonlocality of the condensates is a key point to include nonperturbative contributions to the pion form factor. We compare our results with the Local-Duality predictions and show that the continuum threshold $s_0(Q^2)$ parameter is highly underestimated in the Local-Duality approach at $Q^2\gtrsim 2$ GeV$^2$. Using our fit for this parameter, $s_0^\text{LD}(Q^2)$, and applying the fractional analytic perturbation theory, we estimate with an accuracy of the ord…
We present a detailed investigation of the spacelike pion's electromagnetic form factor using three-point QCD sum rules that exclusively involve nonlocal condensates. Our main methodological tools are a spectral density which includes $O(α_s)$ corrections, a suitably improved Gaussian ansatz to model the distribution of the average momentum of quarks in the QCD vacuum, and a perturbative scheme that avoids Landau singularities. Using this framework, we obtain predictions for the pion form factor together with error estimates originating from intrinsic theoretical uncertainties owing to the per…

In this talk we present our recent studies for the unpolarized fragmentation functions for the pion and kaon, employing the nonlocal chiral quark model, which manifests the nonlocal interaction between the quarks and pseudoscalar mesons, in the light-cone frame. It turns out that the nonlocal interaction produces considerable differences in comparison to typical local-interaction models.
We investigate the screening masses of neutral pions and sigma mesons in hot and magnetized quark matter in the framework of a two-flavor lattice-improved Nambu-Jona-Lasinio (NJL) model with a magnetic field dependent coupling constant, which is determined by utilizing the results from lattice QCD simulations. Since such model can well reproduce inverse magnetic catalysis (IMC), by comparing with the standard NJL model, we systemically analyze the impacts of IMC on the temperature and magnetic field dependences of the longitudinal and transverse screening masses of the chiral partners, i.e. π^…
We study the unpolarized fragmentation functions and parton distribution functions of the pion employing the nonlocal chiral quark model. This model manifests the nonlocal interactions between the quarks and pseudoscalar mesons in the light-cone coordinate. It turns out that the nonlocal interactions result in substantial differences in comparison to typical models with only local couplings. We also perform the high Q^2-evolution for our results calculated at a relatively low renormalization scale Q^2 ~ 0.36 GeV}^2 to be compared with the experimental data. Our results after evolution are in q…
We systematically investigate the effect of the anomalous magnetic moment(AMM) of quarks on the magnetized QCD matter, including the magnetic susceptibility, the inverse magnetic catalysis around the critical temperature and the neutral/charged pion and rho meson spectra under magnetic fields. The dynamical AMM of quarks, its coupling with magnetic field causes Zeeman splitting of the dispersion relation of quarks thus changes the magnetism properties and meson mass spectra under magnetic fields. It is found that including the AMM of quarks cannot fully understand lattice results of the magnet…
The gauge-invariant, nonlocal, dynamical quark model is proved to generate the minimal vertices which satisfy the Ward-Takahashi identities. In the chiral limit, the momentum-dependent quark self-energy results in a flat-like form with some end point delta-funtions for the light-cone pion distribution amplitudes, similarly found in the Nambu Jona-Lasino model with constant constituent mass. The leading order nonzero pion and current quark masses corrections lead concave type asymptotic-like form modifications to twist-2 pion distribution amplitude with end point pillars and twist-3 tensor pion…
The leptonic decay of charged pions is investigated in the presence of background magnetic fields. In this situation Lorentz symmetry is broken and new fundamental decay constants need to be introduced, associated with the decay via the vector part of the electroweak current. We calculate the magnetic field-dependence of both the usual and a new decay constant non-perturbatively on the lattice. We employ both Wilson and staggered quarks and extrapolate the results to the continuum limit. With this non-perturbative input we calculate the tree-level electroweak amplitude for the full decay rate …
The directional weak decay constants of neutral pions are determined at finite temperature T, chemical potential μand in the presence of a constant magnetic field B. To do this, we first derive the energy dispersion relation of neutral pions from the corresponding effective action of a two-flavor, hot and magnetized Nambu--Jona-Lasinio model. Using this dispersion relation, including nontrivial directional refraction indices, we then generalize the PCAC relation of neutral pions and derive the Goldberger-Treiman (GT) as well as the Gell--Mann-Oakes-Renner (GOR) relations consisting of directio…
In this work, we investigate the gluon distribution functions for the pion and kaon, in addition to the improved result of the valence-quark ones, in the gauge-invariant nonlocal chiral-quark model (NL$χ$QM), in which the momentum dependence of the quark interactions is properly taken into account. We then analyze the gluon distribution functions, generated dynamically through the splitting functions in the DGLAP QCD evolution. By comparing with the recent lattice QCD results and JAM global analyses, it is found that the present numerical results for the gluon parton distribution functions for…
We investigate the unpolarized pion and kaon fragmentation functions using the nonlocal chiral-quark model. In this model the interactions between the quarks and pseudoscalar mesons is manifested nonlocally. In addition, the explicit flavor SU(3) symmetry breaking effect is taken into account in terms of the current quark masses. The results of our model are evaluated to higher $Q^2$ value $Q^2=4\,\mathrm{GeV}^2$ by the DGLAP evolution. Then we compare them with the empirical parametrizations. We find that our results are in relatively good agreement with the empirical parametrizations and the…
The electrical and Hall conductivities in a uniform magnetic field are evaluated for an interacting pion gas using the kinetic theory approach within the ambit of relaxation time approximation (RTA). The in-medium cross sections vis-a-vis the relaxation time for $ππ$ scattering are obtained using a one-loop modified thermal propagator for the exchanged $ρ$ and $σ$ mesons using thermal field theoretic techniques. For higher values of the magnetic field, a monotonic increase of the electrical conductivity with the temperature is observed. However, for a given temperature the conductivity is foun…
The rate of dilepton emission from a magnetized hot hadronic medium is calculated in the framework of real time formalism of finite temperature field theory. We evaluate the one loop self-energy of neutral rho-meson containing thermo-magnetic propagators for the charged pions in the loop. The in-medium thermo-magnetic spectral function of rho obtained by solving the Dyson-Schwinger equation is shown to be proportional to the dilepton production rate. The study of the analytic structure of the neutral rho-meson spectral function in such a medium shows that in addition to the usual contribution …
We consider a nonlocal version of the Nambu and Jona-Lasinio model. The nonlocality is contained in the quark-antiquark bilinears of the four-quark vertices as a form factor of the Gaussian type. The model has three parameters which can be fixed in favour of the values of the pion mass, the pion decay constant f_pi, and the current quark mass. The pi pi scattering amplitude is obtained by calculating the quark box and the sigma-pole diagrams, where sigma is the scalar isoscalar meson. It is shown that this amplitude satisfies the well-known Weinberg relation. We obtain the s, p, d wave scatter…
We describe the present status of the pion distribution amplitude (DA) as it originated from several sources: (i) a nonperturbative approach, based on QCD sum rules with nonlocal condensates, (ii) an O(α_s) QCD analysis of the CLEO data on F^{γγ^*π}(Q^2) with asymptotic and renormalon models for higher twists, and (iii) recent high-precision lattice QCD calculations of the second moment of the pion DA. Then we show the comparison of the results for the pion electromagnetic form factor, obtained in analytic perturbation theory, with JLab data on F_π(Q^2). After that we introduce the improved mo…
We analyze the features of strongly interacting matter in the presence of nonzero isospin chemical potential $μ_I$, within a nonlocal two-flavor Polyakov-Nambu-Jona-Lasinio (PNJL) model. For a system at finite temperature $T$, we describe the behavior of various thermodynamic quantities and study the phase diagram in the $μ_I - T$ plane. In particular, it is found that for values of $μ_I$ larger than the pion mass and temperatures lower than a critical value of about 170 MeV the system lies in an isospin symmetry broken phase signaled by the presence of a nonzero pion condensate. Our results f…
We consider the decay $π^- \to l \, \barν_l$ ($l=e^-,\,μ^-$) in the presence of an arbitrary large uniform magnetic field, using the symmetric gauge. The consequences of the axial symmetry of the problem and the issue of angular momentum conservation are discussed in detail. In particular, we analyze the projection of both the canonical and the mechanical total angular momenta along the direction of the magnetic field. It is found that while the former is conserved in the symmetric gauge, the latter is not conserved in both the symmetric and Landau gauges. We derive an expression for the integ…
We investigate the parton-distribution functions (PDFs) for the positively charged pion and kaon at a low-renormalization scale ~ 1 GeV. To this end, we employ the gauge-invariant effective chiral action from the nonlocal chiral-quark model, resulting in that the vector currents are conserved. All the model parameters are determined phenomenologically with the normalization condition for PDF and the empirical values for the pseudoscalar-meson weak-decay constants. We consider the momentum dependence of the effective quark mass properly within the model calculations. It turns out that the leadi…
In these notes we describe the basic formulation of the parametrization scheme for the instantaneous nonlocal chiral quark model in the three flavor case. We choose to discuss the Gaussian, Lorentzian-type, Woods-Saxon and sharp cutoff (NJL) functional forms of the momentum dependence for the formfactor of the separable interaction. The four parameters: light and strange quark mass, coupling strength (G_S) and range of the interaction (Lambda) have been fixed by the same phenomenological inputs: pion and kaon mass, pion decay constant and light quark mass in vacuum. The Wood-Saxon and Lorentzi…
A nonlocal chiral quark model is consistently extended beyond mean field using a strict 1/Nc expansion scheme. The parameters of the nonlocal model are refitted to the physical values of the pion mass and the weak pion decay constant. The size of the 1/Nc correction to the quark condensate is carefully studied in the nonlocal and the usual local Nambu-Jona-Lasinio models. It is found that even the sign of the corrections can be different. This can be attributed to the mesonic cut-off of the local model. It is also found that the 1/Nc corrections lead to a lowering of the temperature of the chi…
We describe the present status of the pion distribution amplitude (DA) as it originates from several sources: (i) a nonperturbative approach based on QCD sum rules with nonlocal condensates, (ii) an $O(α_s)$ QCD analysis of the CLEO data on F^{γγ^*π}(Q^2) with asymptotic and renormalon models for higher twists, and (iii) recent high-precision lattice QCD calculations of the second moment of the pion DA. We show predictions for the pion electromagnetic form factor, obtained in analytic QCD perturbation theory, and compare it with the JLab data on F_π(Q^2). We also discuss in this context an imp…
The transition form factor of a gamma into three pions $F_{3π}$ are studied in a framework of nonlocal chiral quark model. In local limit the result is agreement with chiral perturbative theory and reproduce Wess-Zumino-Witten anomaly. Availability of nonlocality not change a value of transition form factor in chiral limit. On the physical threshold of reaction, the transition form factor $F_{3π}$ is obtained close to the experimental data on account of current mass of quark.
In the framework of nonlocal SU(2) chiral quark models with Polyakov loop, we analyze the dependence of the deconfinement and chiral restoration critical temperatures on the explicit chiral symmetry breaking driven by the current quark mass. Our results are compared with those obtained within the standard local Polyakov-Nambu-Jona-Lasinio (PNJL) model and with lattice QCD calculations. For a wide range of pion masses, it is found that both deconfinement and chiral restoration critical temperatures turn out to be strongly entangled, in contrast with the corresponding results within the PNJL mod…
We discuss the relevance of the curvature radiation of pions in strongly magnetized pulsars or magnetars, and their implications for the production of TeV energy neutrinos detectable by cubic kilometer scale detectors, as well as high energy photons.
We describe the present status of the pion distribution amplitude as it originated from two sources: (i) a nonperturbative approach, based on QCD sum rules with nonlocal condensates and (ii) a NLO QCD analysis of the CLEO data on F^{γγ^*π}(Q^2), supplemented by the recent high-precision lattice calculations of the second moment of the pion distribution amplitude.
