The Grigorchuk and Gupta-Sidki groups are natural examples of self-similar finitely generated periodic groups. The author constructed their analogue in case of restricted Lie algebras of characteristic 2, Shestakov and Zelmanov extended this construction to an arbitrary positive characteristic. It is known that the famous construction of Golod yields finitely generated associative nil-algebras of exponential growth. Recent extensions of that approach allowed to construct finitely generated associative nil-algebras of polynomial and intermediate growth. Another motivation of the paper is a construction of groups of oscillating growth by Kassabov and Pak.
For any prime $p$ we construct a family of 3-generated restricted Lie algebras of intermediate oscillating growth. We call them Phoenix algebras because, for infinitely many periods of time, the algebra is "almost dying" by having a quasi-linear growth, namely the lower Gelfand-Kirillov dimension is one, more precisely, the growth is of type $n \big(\ln^{(q)} \!n\big )^κ$. On the other hand, for infinitely many $n$ the growth has a rather fast intermediate behaviour of type $\exp( n/ (\ln n)^λ)$, for such periods the algebra is "resuscitating". Moreover, the growth function is oscillating between these two types of behaviour. These restricted Lie algebras have a nil $p$-mapping.
We construct finitely generated nil algebras with prescribed growth rate. In particular, any increasing submultiplicative function is realized as the growth function of a nil algebra up to a polynomial error term and an arbitrarily slow distortion. We then move on to examples of nil algebras and domains with strongly oscillating growth functions and construct primitive algebras for which the Gelfand-Kirillov dimension is strictly sub-additive with respect to tensor products, thus answering a question raised by Krempa-Okninski and Krause-Lenagan.
In this paper we obtain the classification of $p$-nilpotent restricted Lie algebras of dimension at most four over a perfect field of characteristic p.
In this paper we prove that every finite-dimensional nilpotent restricted Lie algebra over a field of prime characteristic has an outer restricted derivation whose square is zero unless the restricted Lie algebra is a torus or it is one-dimensional or it is isomorphic to the three-dimensional Heisenberg algebra in characteristic two as an ordinary Lie algebra. This result is the restricted analogue of a result of Tôgô on the existence of nilpotent outer derivations of ordinary nilpotent Lie algebras in arbitrary characteristic and the Lie-theoretic analogue of a classical group-theoretic resul…
It is shown that over an arbitrary countable field, there exists a finitely generated algebra that is nil, infinite dimensional, and has Gelfand-Kirillov dimension at most three.
The purpose of this paper is to classify all $p$-nilpotent restricted Lie algebras of dimension 5 over perfect fields of characteristic $p\geq 5$. Our work builds upon the recent work of Schneider and Usefi on the classification of $p$-nilpotent restricted Lie algebras of dimension up to 4 over perfect fields of characteristic $p$. The method we use here to classify $p$-nilpotent restricted Lie algebras is the analogue of Skjelbred-Sund method for classifying nilpotent Lie algebras.
Let $L$ and $H$ be finite-dimensional restricted Lie algebras over a perfect field $\F$ such that $u(L)\cong u(H)$, where $u(L)$ is the restricted enveloping algebra of $L$. We prove that if $L$ is $p$-nilpotent and abelian, then $L\cong H$. We deduce that if $L$ is abelian and $\F$ is algebraically closed, then $L\cong H$. We use these results to prove the main result of this paper stating that if $L$ is $p$-nilpotent, then $L/L'^p+γ_3(L)\cong H/H'^p+γ_3(H)$.
The Grigorchuk and Gupta-Sidki groups play fundamental role in modern group theory. They are natural examples of self-similar finitely generated periodic groups. The author constructed their analogue in case of restricted Lie algebras of characteristic 2, Shestakov and Zelmanov extended this construction to an arbitrary positive characteristic. Also, the author constructed a family of 2-generated restricted Lie algebras of slow polynomial growth with a nil $p$-mapping. Now, we construct a family of so called clover 3-generated restricted Lie algebras $T(Ξ)$, where a field of positive character…
In the late 1980s, A. Premet conjectured that the variety of nilpotent elements of any finite dimensional restricted Lie algebra over an algebraically closed field of characteristic $p>0$ is irreducible. This conjecture remains open, but it is known to hold for a large class of simple restricted Lie algebras, e.g. for Lie algebras of connected algebraic groups, and for Cartan series $W, S$ and $H$. In this thesis we start by proving that Premet's conjecture can be reduced to the semisimple case. The proof is straightforward. However, the reduction of the semisimple case to the simple case is v…
Let L be a restricted Lie superalgebra with its enveloping algebra u(L) over a field F of characteristic p>2. A polynomial identity is called non-matrix if it is not satisfied by the algebra of 2\times 2 matrices over F. We characterize L when u(L) satisfies a non-matrix polynomial identity. In particular, we characterize L when u(L) is Lie solvable, Lie nilpotent, or Lie super-nilpotent.
In the late 1980s, Premet conjectured that the nilpotent variety of any finite dimensional restricted Lie algebra over an algebraically closed field of characteristic $p>0$ is irreducible. This conjecture remains open, but it is known to hold for a large class of simple restricted Lie algebras, e.g. for Lie algebras of connected reductive algebraic groups, and for Cartan series $W, S$ and $H$. In this paper, with the assumption that $p>3$, we confirm this conjecture for the minimal $p$-envelope $W(1;n)_p$ of the Zassenhaus algebra $W(1;n)$ for all $n\geq 2$.
We study the problem of the existence of filtered multiplicative bases of a restricted enveloping algebra u(L), where L is a finite-dimensional and p-nilpotent restricted Lie algebra over a field of positive characteristic p.
Let L be a restricted Lie algebra over a field of characteristic p > 2 and denote by u(L) its restricted enveloping algebra. We determine the conditions under which the set of symmetric elements of u(L) with respect to the principal involution is Lie solvable, Lie nilpotent, or bounded Lie Engel.
Let L be a restricted Lie algebra over a field of positive characteristic. We survey the known results about the Lie structure of the restricted enveloping algebra u(L) of L. Related results about the structure of the group of units and the symmetric and skew-symmetric elements of u(L) are also discussed. Moreover, a new theorem about an upper bound for the Lie nilpotency class of u(L) is proved.
We give an explicit description of adjoint quotient maps for Jacobson-Witt algebra Wn and special algebra Sn. An analogue of Kostant's differential criterion of regularity is given for Wn. Furthermore, we describe the fiber of adjoint quotient map for Sn and construct the analogs of Kostant's transverse slice. In addition, we analysis the nilpotent elements and generalize some Premet's results to Sn.
Let $\mathfrak{g}$ be a real semisimple Lie algebra with Iwasawa decomposition $\mathfrak{k} \oplus \mathfrak{a} \oplus \mathfrak{n}$. We show that, except for some explicit exceptional cases, every derivation of the nilpotent subalgebra $\mathfrak{n}$ that preserves its restricted root space decomposition is of the form $\text{ad}( W)$, where $W \in \mathfrak{m}\oplus .
We study the truncated shifted Yangian $Y_{n,l}(σ)$ over an algebraically closed field $\mathbb{k}$ of characteristic $p > 0$, which is known to be isomorphic to the finite $W$-algebra $U(\mathfrak{g}, e)$ associated to a corresponding nilpotent element $e\in \mathfrak{g} = \mathfrak{gl}_N(\mathbb{k})$. We obtain an explicit description of the centre of $Y_{n,l}(σ)$, showing that it is generated by its Harish-Chandra centre and its $p$-centre. We define $Y_{n,l}^{[p]}(σ)$ to be the quotient of $Y_{n,l}(σ)$ by the ideal generated by the kernel of trivial character of its $p$-centre. Our main th…
We construct a just infinite fractal 3-generated Lie superalgebra $\mathbf Q$ over arbitrary field, which gives rise to an associative hull $\mathbf A$, a Poisson superalgebra $\mathbf P$, and two Jordan superalgebras $\mathbf J$, $\mathbf K$. One has a natural filtration for $\mathbf A$ which associated graded algebra has a structure of a Poisson superalgebra and $\mathrm{gr} \mathbf A\cong\mathbf P$, also $\mathbf P$ admits an algebraic quantization. The Lie superalgebra $\mathbf Q$ is finely $\mathbb Z^3$-graded by multidegree in the generators, $\mathbf A$, $\mathbf P$ are $\mathbb Z^3$-gr…
We study the representations of two types of pointed Hopf algebras: restricted two-parameter quantum groups, and the Drinfel'd doubles of rank one pointed Hopf algebras of nilpotent type. We study, in particular, under what conditions a simple module can be factored as the tensor product of a one dimensional module with a module that is naturally a module for the quotient by central group-like elements.
This is a short survey of works on identical relations in group rings, enveloping algebras, Poisson symmetric algebras and other related algebraic structures. First, the classical work of Passman specified group rings that satisfy nontrivial identical relations. This result was an origin and motivation of close research projects. Second, Latyshev and Bahturin determined Lie algebras such that their universal enveloping algebra satisfies a non-trivial identical relation. Next, Passman and Petrogradsky solved a similar problem in case of restricted enveloping algebras. Third, Farkas started to s…
