We consider rational integrable supersymmetric gl(m|n) spin chains in the defining representation and prove the isomorphism between a commutative algebra of conserved charges (the Bethe algebra) and a polynomial ring (the Wronskian algebra) defined by functional relations between Baxter Q-functions that we call Wronskian Bethe equations. These equations, in contrast to standard nested Bethe equations, admit only physical solutions for any value of inhomogeneities and furthermore we prove that the algebraic number of solutions to these equations is equal to the dimension of the spin chain Hilbert space (modulo relevant symmetries).
Both twisted and twist-less periodic boundary conditions are considered, the isomorphism statement uses, as a sufficient condition, that the spin chain inhomogeneities $θ_\ell$, $\ell=1,\ldots,L$ satisfy $θ_\ell+\hbar\neqθ_{\ell'}$ for $\ell<\ell'$. Counting of solutions is done in two independent ways: by computing a character of the Wronskian algebra and by explicitly solving the Bethe equations in certain scaling regimes supplemented with a proof that the algebraic number of solutions is the same for any value of $θ_\ell$. In particular, we consider the regime $θ_{\ell+1}/θ_{\ell}\gg 1$ for the twist-less chain where we succeed to provide explicit solutions and their systematic labelling with standard Young tableaux.
Darboux Wronskian formulas allow to construct Darboux transformations, but Laplace transformations, which are Darboux transformations of order one cannot be represented this way. It has been a long standing problem on what are other exceptions. In our previous work we proved that among transformations of total order one there are no other exceptions. Here we prove that for transformations of total order two there are no exceptions at all. We also obtain a simple explicit invariant description of all possible Darboux Transformations of total order two.
We prove the modified algebraic Bethe Ansatz characterization of the spectral problem for the closed XXX Heisenberg spin chain with an arbitrary twist and arbitrary positive (half)-integer spin at each site of the chain. We provide two basis to characterize the spectral problem and two families of inhomogeneous Baxter T-Q equations. The two families satisfy an inhomogeneous quantum Wronskian equation.
We discuss some of the difficulties that have been mentioned in the literature in connection with the Bethe ansatz for the six-vertex model and XXZ chain, and for the eight-vertex model. In particular we discuss the ``beyond the equator'', infinite momenta and exact complete string problems. We show how they can be overcome and conclude that the coordinate Bethe ansatz does indeed give a complete set of states, as expected.
Recently, the XXX spin chain with arbitrary boundary fields was successfully solved [1] via the off-diagonal Bethe ansatz method [2]. The correctness and the completeness of this solution were numerically verified by Nepomechie for one choice of the parameterizations [3]. In this paper, we discuss further the completeness of another parameterization of the Bethe ansatz equations and its reduction to the parallel boundary field case. The numerical results show that when the relative angle between the boundary fields turns to zero, both the T-Q relations and the Bethe ansatz equations are reduce…
We prove the completeness of the Bethe ansatz eigenfunctions of the Laplacian on a Weyl alcove with repulsive boundary condition at the walls. For the root system of type A this amounts to the result of Dorlas of the completeness of the Bethe ansatz eigenfunctions of the quantum Bose gas on the circle with repulsive delta-function interaction.
The most general cyclic representations of the quantum integrable tau_2-model are analyzed. The complete characterization of the tau_2-spectrum (eigenvalues and eigenstates) is achieved in the framework of Sklyanin's Separation of Variables (SOV) method by extending and adapting the ideas first introduced in [1, 2]: i) The determination of the tau_2-spectrum is reduced to the classification of the solutions of a given functional equation in a class of polynomials. ii) The determination of the tau_2-eigenstates is reduced to the classification of the solutions of an associated Baxter equation. …
Establishing the completeness of a Bethe Ansatz solution for an exactly solved model is a perennial challenge, which is typically approached on a case by case basis. For the rational, spin-1/2 Richardson--Gaudin system it will be argued that, for generic values of the system's coupling parameters, the Bethe states are complete. This method does not depend on knowledge of the distribution of Bethe roots, such as a string hypothesis, and is generalisable to a wider class of systems.
In [1] an integrable quantum model was introduced and a class of its cyclic representations was proven to define lattice regularizations of the Sine-Gordon model. Here, we analyze general cyclic representations of this integrable quantum model by extending the spectrum construction introduced in [2] in the framework of the Separation of Variables (SOV) of Sklyanin. We show that as in [1] also for general representations, the transfer matrix spectrum (eigenvalues and eigenstates) is completely characterized in terms of polynomial solutions of an associated functional Baxter equation. Moreover, …
We consider the Bethe equations for the isotropic spin-1/2 Heisenberg quantum spin chain with periodic boundary conditions. We formulate a conjecture for the number of solutions with pairwise distinct roots of these equations, in terms of numbers of so-called singular (or exceptional) solutions. Using homotopy continuation methods, we find all such solutions of the Bethe equations for chains of length up to 14. The numbers of these solutions are in perfect agreement with the conjecture. We also discuss an indirect method of finding solutions of the Bethe equations by solving the Baxter T-Q equ…
The asymmetric simple exclusion process (ASEP) for N particles on a ring with L sites may be analyzed using the Bethe ansatz. In this paper, we provide a rigorous proof that the Bethe ansatz is complete for the periodic ASEP. More precisely, we show that for all but finitely many values of the hopping rate, the solutions of the Bethe ansatz equations do indeed yield all L choose N eigenstates. The proof follows ideas of Langlands and Saint-Aubin, which draw upon a range of techniques from algebraic geometry, topology and enumerative combinatorics.
In this paper, we describe a certain kind of $q$-connections on a projective line, namely $Z$-twisted $(G,q)$-opers with regular singularities using the language of generalized minors. In part one arXiv:2002.07344 we explored the correspondence between these $q$-connections and $QQ$-systems/Bethe Ansatz equations. Here we associate to a $Z$-twisted $(G,q)$-oper a class of meromorphic sections of a $G$-bundle, satisfying certain difference equations, which we refer to as generalized $q$-Wronskians. Among other things, we show that the $QQ$-systems and their extensions emerge as the relations be…
We solve the longstanding problem to define a functional characterization of the spectrum of the transfer matrix associated to the most general spin-1/2 representations of the 6-vertex reflection algebra for general inhomogeneous chains. The corresponding homogeneous limit reproduces the spectrum of the Hamiltonian of the spin-1/2 open XXZ and XXX quantum chains with the most general integrable boundaries. The spectrum is characterized by a second order finite difference functional equation of Baxter type with an inhomogeneous term which vanishes only for some special but yet interesting non-d…
We employ a discrete integral-reflection representation of the double affine Hecke algebra of type $C^\vee C$ at the critical level q=1, to endow the open finite $q$-boson system with integrable boundary interactions at the lattice ends. It is shown that the Bethe Ansatz entails a complete basis of eigenfunctions for the commuting quantum integrals in terms of Macdonald's three-parameter hyperoctahedral Hall-Littlewood polynomials.
In this note, we prove the completeness of Bethe vectors for the six vertex model with diagonal reflecting boundary conditions. We show that as inhomogeneity parameters get sent to infinity in a successive order the Bethe vectors give a complete basis of the space of states.
We study the Gaudin models associated with $\mathfrak{gl}(1|1)$. We give an explicit description of the algebra of Hamiltonians (Gaudin Hamiltonians) acting on tensor products of polynomial evaluation $\mathfrak{gl}(1|1)[t]$-modules. It follows that there exists a bijection between common eigenvectors (up to proportionality) of the algebra of Hamiltonians and monic divisors of an explicit polynomial written in terms of the highest weights and evaluation parameters. In particular, our result implies that each common eigenspace of the algebra of Hamiltonians has dimension one. Therefore, we conf…
Q-systems provide an efficient way of solving Bethe equations. We formulate here Q-systems for both the isotropic and anisotropic open Heisenberg quantum spin-1/2 chains with diagonal boundary magnetic fields. We check these Q-systems using novel Wronskian-type formulas (relating the fundamental Q-function and its dual) that involve the boundary parameters.
We propose a way to separate variables in a rational integrable $\mathfrak{gl}(n)$ spin chain with an arbitrary finite-dimensional irreducible representation at each site and with generic twisted periodic boundary conditions. Firstly, we construct a basis that diagonalises a higher-rank version of the Sklyanin B-operator; the construction is based on recursive usage of an embedding of a $\mathfrak{gl}(k)$ spin chain into a $\mathfrak{gl}(k+1)$ spin chain which is induced from a Yangian homomorphism and controlled by dual diagonals of Gelfand-Tsetlin patterns. Then, we show that the same basis …
We study the integrable two-species asymmetric simple exclusion process (ASEP) for two inequivalent types of open, non particle conserving boundary conditions. Employing the nested off-diagonal Bethe ansatz method, we construct for each case the corresponding homogeneous $T$-$Q$ relations and obtain the Bethe ansatz equations. Numerical checks for small system sizes show completeness for some Bethe ansatz equations, and partial completeness for others.
We investigate the completeness of the solutions of the Bethe equations for the integrable spin-s isotropic (XXX) spin chain with periodic boundary conditions. Solutions containing the exact string i s, i (s-1), ..., -i(s-1), -is are singular. For s>1/2, there exist also "strange" solutions with repeated roots, which nevertheless are physical (i.e., correspond to eigenstates of the Hamiltonian). We derive conditions for the singular solutions and the solutions with repeated roots to be physical. We formulate a conjecture for the number of solutions with pairwise distinct roots in terms of the …

We provide a description of the quantum integrable structure behind the Thermodynamic Bethe Ansatz (TBA)-like equation derived by Nekrasov and Shatashvili (NS) for $\mathcal{N}=2$ 4d Super Yang-Mills (SYM) theories. In this regime of the background, -- we shall show --, the instanton partition function is characterised by the solution of a TQ-equation. Exploiting a symmetry of the contour integrals expressing the partition function, we derive a 'dual' TQ-equation, sharing the same T-polynomial with the former. This fact allows us to evaluate to $1$ the quantum Wronskian of two dual solutions (…
Bethe ansatz equations for spin-$s$ Heisenberg spin chain with $s\ge1$ are significantly more difficult to analyze than the spin-$\tfrac{1}{2}$ case, due to the presence of repeated roots. As a result, it is challenging to derive extra conditions for the Bethe roots to be physical and study the related completeness problem. In this paper, we propose the rational $Q$-system for the XXX$_s$ spin chain. Solutions of the proposed $Q$-system give all and only physical solutions of the Bethe ansatz equations required by completeness. This is checked numerically and proved rigorously. The rational $Q…
In this paper and upcoming ones, we initiate a systematic study of Bethe ansatz equations for integrable models by modern computational algebraic geometry. We show that algebraic geometry provides a natural mathematical language and powerful tools for understanding the structure of solution space of Bethe ansatz equations. In particular, we find novel efficient methods to count the number of solutions of Bethe ansatz equations based on Gröbner basis and quotient ring. We also develop analytical approach based on companion matrix to perform the sum of on-shell quantities over all physical solut…
Changing the variables in the Bethe Ansatz Equations (BAE) for the XXZ six-vertex model we had obtained a coupled system of polynomial equations. This provided a direct link between the BAE deduced from the Algebraic Bethe Ansatz (ABA) and the BAE arising from the Coordinate Bethe Ansatz (CBA). For two magnon states this polynomial system could be decoupled and the solutions given in terms of the roots of some self-inversive polynomials. From theorems concerning the distribution of the roots of self-inversive polynomials we made a thorough analysis of the two magnon states, which allowed us to…
We study integrable lattice regularizations of the sine-Gordon model with the help of the separation of variables method of Sklyanin and the Baxter Q-operators. This leads us to the complete characterization of the spectrum (eigenvalues and eigenstates), in terms of the solutions to the Bethe ansatz equations. The completeness of the set of states that can be constructed from the solutions to the Bethe ansatz equations is proven by our approach.
The periodic $OSp(1|2)$ quantum spin chain has both a graded and a non-graded version. Naively, the Bethe ansatz solution for the non-graded version does not account for the complete spectrum of the transfer matrix, and we propose a simple mechanism for achieving completeness. In contrast, for the graded version, this issue does not arise. We also clarify the symmetries of both versions of the model, and we show how these symmetries are manifested in the degeneracies and multiplicities of the transfer-matrix spectrum. While the graded version has $OSp(1|2)$ symmetry, the non-graded version has…
A family of A_{2n}^(2) integrable open spin chains with U_q(C_n) symmetry was recently identified in arXiv:1702.01482. We identify here in a similar way a family of A_{2n-1}^(2) integrable open spin chains with U_q(D_n) symmetry, and two families of D_{n+1}^(2) integrable open spin chains with U_q(B_n) symmetry. We discuss the consequences of these symmetries for the degeneracies and multiplicities of the spectrum. We propose Bethe ansatz solutions for two of these models, whose completeness we check numerically for small values of n and chain length N. We find formulas for the Dynkin labels i…
We consider the open spin-s XXZ quantum spin chain with nondiagonal boundary terms. By exploiting certain functional relations at roots of unity, we derive a generalized form of T-Q relation involving more than one independent Q(u), which we use to propose the Bethe-ansatz-type expressions for the eigenvalues of the transfer matrix. At most two of the boundary parameters are set to be arbitrary and the bulk anisotropy parameter has values η= iπ/2, iπ/4,... We also provide numerical evidence for the completeness of the Bethe-ansatz-type solutions derived, using s = 1 case as an example.
In this paper we count the numbers of real and complex solutions to Bethe constraints in the two particle sector of the XXZ model. We find exact number of exceptions to the string conjecture and total number of solutions which is required for completeness.
Every solution of the Bethe-ansatz equations (BAE) is characterized by a set of quantum numbers, by which we can evaluate it numerically. However, no general rule is known how to give quantum numbers for the physical solutions of BAE. For the spin-1/2 XXX chain we rigorously derive all the quantum numbers for the complete set of the Bethe-ansatz eigenvectors in the two down-spin sector with any chain length $N$. Here we obtain them both for real and complex solutions. Consequently, we prove the completeness of the Bethe ansatz and give an exact expression for the number of real solutions which…

Three decades ago, Inozemtsev found an isotropic long-range spin chain with elliptic pair potential that interpolates between the Heisenberg and Haldane-Shastry (HS) spin chains while admitting an exact solution throughout, based on a connection with the elliptic quantum Calogero-Sutherland model. Though Inozemtsev's spin chain is widely believed to be quantum integrable, the underlying algebraic reason for its exact solvability is not yet well understood. As a step in this direction we refine Inozemtsev's `extended coordinate Bethe ansatz' and clarify various aspects of the model's exact spec…
Generic inhomogeneous integrable XXZ chains with arbitrary spins are studied by means of the quantum separation of variables (SOV) method. Within this framework, a complete description of the spectrum (eigenvalues and eigenstates) of the antiperiodic transfer matrix is derived in terms of discrete systems of equations involving the inhomogeneity parameters of the model. We show here that one can reformulate this discrete SOV characterization of the spectrum in terms of functional T-Q equations of Baxter's type, hence proving the completeness of the solutions to the associated systems of Bethe-…
