In this paper, we prove that a two-dimensional self-shrinker, homeomorphic to the sphere, immersed in the three dimensional Euclidean space is a round sphere, provided its mean curvature and the norm of its position vector have an upper bound in terms of the norm of its traceless second fundamental form. The example constructed by Drugan justifies that the hypothesis on the second fundamental form is necessary. We can also prove the same kind of rigidity results for surfaces with parallel weighted mean curvature vector in R n with radial weight. These results are applications of a new generalization of Cauchy's Theorem in complex analysis which concludes that a complex function is identically zero or its zeroes are isolated if it satisfies some weak holomorphy.
In this note, we prove that smooth self-shrinkers in $\Real^{n+1}$, that are entire graphs, are hyperplanes. Previously Ecker and Huisken showed that smooth self-shrinkers, that are entire graphs and have at most polynomial growth, are hyperplanes. The point of this note is that no growth assumption at infinity is needed.
We prove a local gap theorem for Ricci shrinkers, which states that if the local $μ$-functional at scale $1$ on a large ball centered at the minimum point of the potential function is close enough to $0$, then the shrinker must be the flat gaussian shrinker. In relation to our result, Yokota [Yo09,Yo12] proved the same result assuming the global $μ$-functional to be close enough to $0$. Our result shows an aspect of how the local geometry of a shrinker controls the global geometry, which is also discussed in [LW19,LW20,LW21].
In this note we will prove that an $n$ dimensional graphic self-shrinker in $R^{n+m}$ with flat normal bundle is a linear subspace. This result is a generalization of the corresponding result of Lu Wang in codimension one case.
In this paper, we study volume growth, Liouville theorem and the local gradient estimate for $f$-harmonic functions, and volume comparison property of unit balls in complete noncompact gradient Ricci shrinkers. We also study integral properties of f-harmonic functions and harmonic functions on such manifolds.
In this paper, we prove a classification theorem for self-shrinkers of the mean curvature flow with $|A|^2\le 1$ in arbitrary codimension. In particular, this implies a gap theorem for self-shrinkers in arbitrary codimension.
By using certain idea developed in minimal submanifold theory we study rigidity problem for self-shrinkers in the present paper. We prove rigidity results for squared norm of the second fundamental form of self-shrinkers, either under point-wise conditions or under integral conditions.
In this note we first show a compactness theorem for rotationally symmetric self shrinkers of entropy less than 2, concluding that there are entropy minimizing self shrinkers diffeomorphic to $S^1 \times S^{n-1}$ for each $n \geq 2$ in the class of rotationally symmetric self shrinkers. Assuming extra symmetry, namely that the profile curve is convex, we remove the entropy assumption. Supposing the profile curve is additionally reflection symmetric we show there are only finitely many such shrinkers up to rigid motion.
In this paper, we prove that the mean curvature blows up at the same rate as the second fundamental form at the first singular time $T$ of any compact, Type I mean curvature flow. For the mean curvature flow of surfaces, we obtain similar result provided that the Gaussian density is less than two. Our proofs are based on continuous rescaling and the classification of self-shrinkers. We show that all notions of singular sets defined in \cite{St} coincide for any Type I mean curvature flow, thus generalizing the result of Stone who established that for any mean convex Type I Mean curvature flow.…
In this paper, we study complete self-shrinkers in Euclidean space and prove that an $n$-dimensional complete self-shrinker with polynomial volume growth in Euclidean space $\mathbb{R}^{n+1}$ is isometric to either $\mathbb{R}^{n}$, $S^{n}(\sqrt{n})$, or $\mathbb{R}^{n-m}\times S^m (\sqrt{m})$, $1\leq m\leq n-1$, if the squared norm $S$ of the second fundamental form is constant and satisfies $S<(10/7)$.
We study the rigidity results for self-shrinkers in Euclidean space by restriction of the image under the Gauss map. The geometric properties of the target manifolds carry into effect. In the self-shrinking hypersurface situation Theorem 3.1 and Theorem 3.2 not only improve the previous results, but also are optimal. In higher codimensional case, using geometric properties of the Grassmanian manifolds (the target manifolds of the Gauss map) we give a rigidity theorem for self-shrinking graphs.
We generalize a classification result for self-shrinkers of the mean curvature flow with nonnegative mean curvature, which was obtained by T. Colding and W. Minicozzi, replacing the assumption on polynomial volume growth with a weighted $L^2$ condition on the norm of the second fundamental form. Our approach adopt the viewpoint of weighted manifolds and permits also to recover and to extend some others recent classification and gap results for self-shrinkers.
We prove a local graphical theorem for two-dimensional self-shrinkers away from the origin. As applications, we study the asymptotic behavior of noncompact self-shrinkers with finite genus. Also, we show uniform boundedness on the second fundamental form of two-dimensional noncompact self-shrinkers with bounded mean curvature and uniform locally finite genus.
We prove a smooth compactness theorem for the space of embedded self-shrinkers in $\RR^3$. Since self-shrinkers model singularities in mean curvature flow, this theorem can be thought of as a compactness result for the space of all singularities and it plays an important role in studying generic mean curvature flow.
In arXiv:1005.3255 we proved an orbifold Cheeger-Gromov compactness theorem for complete 4d Ricci shrinkers with a lower bound for the entropy, an upper bound for the Euler characterisic, and a lower bound for the gradient of the potential at large distances. In this note, we show that the last two assumptions in fact can be removed. The key ingredient is a recent estimate of Cheeger-Naber arXiv:1406.6534.
In this paper we consider harmonic functions on gradient shrinking Ricci solitons with constant scalar curvature. A Liouville theorem is proved without using gradient estimate : any bounded harmonic function is constant on gradient shrinking Ricci solitons with constant scalar curvature. As an application, we show that the space of harmonic functions with polynomial growth has finite dimension.
In this short paper we extend the classical Hoffman-Meeks Halfspace Theorem to self-shrinkers, that is: "Let $P $ be a hyperplane passing through the origin. The only properly immersed self-shrinker $Σ$ contained in one of the closed half-space determined by $P$ is $Σ= P$." Our proof is geometric and uses a catenoid type hypersurface discovered by Kleene-Moller. Also, using a similar geometric idea, we obtain that the only complete self-shrinker properly immersed in an closed cylinder $ \overline{B ^{k+1} (R)} \times \mathbb{R}^{n-k}\subset \mathbb R^{n+1}$, for some $k\in \{1, \ldots ,n\}$ an…
We prove precompactness in an orbifold Cheeger-Gromov sense of complete gradient Ricci shrinkers with a lower bound on their entropy and a local integral Riemann bound. We do not need any pointwise curvature assumptions, volume or diameter bounds. In dimension four, under a technical assumption, we can replace the local integral Riemann bound by an upper bound for the Euler characteristic. The proof relies on a Gauss-Bonnet with cutoff argument.
By the integral method we prove that any space-like entire graphic self-shrinking solution to Lagrangian mean curvature flow in $\R^{2n}_{n}$ with the indefinite metric $\sum_i dx_idy_i$ is flat. This result improves the previous ones in \cite{HW} and \cite{CCY} by removing the additional assumption in their results. In a similar manner, we reprove its Euclidean counterpart which is established in \cite{CCY}.

This is a contribution to the program of dynamical approach to mean curvature flow initiated by Colding and Minicozzi. In this paper, we prove two main theorems. The first one is local in nature and the second one is global. In this first result, we pursue the stream of ideas of \cite{CM3} and get a slight refinement of their results. We apply the invariant manifold theory from hyperbolic dynamics to study the dynamics close to a closed shrinker that is not a sphere. In the second theorem, we show that if a hypersurface under the rescaled mean curvature flow converges to a closed shrinker that…
Using a maximum principle for self-shrinkers of the mean curvature flow, we give new proofs of a rigidity theorem for rotationally symmetric compact self-shrinkers and a result about the asymptotic behavior of self-shrinkers. This comparison argument also implies a linear bound for the second fundamental form of self-shrinking surfaces under natural assumptions. As a consequence, translating solitons can be related to these self-shrinkers.
We introduce a notion of index for shrinkers of the mean curvature flow. We then prove a gap theorem for the index of rotationally symmetric immersed shrinkers in R^3, namely, that such shrinkers have index at least 3, unless they are one of the stable ones: the sphere, the cylinder, or the plane. We also provide a generalization of the result to higher dimensions.
In this paper, we first use the method of Colding and Minicozzi [5] to show that K. Smoczyk's classification theorem [16] for complete self-shrinkers in higher codimension also holds under a weaker condition. Then as an application, we give some rigidity results for self-shrinkers in arbitrary codimension.
In this paper, we firstly verify that if $M$ is a complete self-shrinker with polynomial volume growth in $\mathbb{R}^{n+1}$, and if the squared norm of the second fundamental form of $M$ satisfies $0\leq|A|^2-1\leq\frac{1}{18}$, then $|A|^2\equiv1$ and $M$ is a round sphere or a cylinder. More generally, let $M$ be a complete $λ$-hypersurface with polynomial volume growth in $\mathbb{R}^{n+1}$ with $λ\neq0$. Then we prove that there exists an positive constant $γ$, such that if $|λ|\leqγ$ and the squared norm of the second fundamental form of $M$ satisfies $0\leq|A|^2-β_λ\leq\frac{1}{18}$, th…
In this paper, we show an optimal volume growth for self-shrinkers, and estimate a lower bound of the first eigenvalue of $\mathcal{L}$ operator on self-shrinkers, inspired by the first eigenvalue conjecture on minimal hypersurfaces in the unit sphere by Yau \cite{SY}. By the eigenvalue estimates, we can prove a compactness theorem on a class of compact self-shrinkers in $\ir{3}$ obtained by Colding-Minicozzi under weaker conditions.
In this note, we give a new and simple proof of a result in {\cite{DX1}} which states that any smooth complete self-shrinker in $\mathbb{R}^3$ with second fundamental form of constant length must be a generalized cylinder $\mathbb{S}^k \times \mathbb{R}^{2-k}$ for some $k\leq2$. Moreover, we prove a gap theorem for smooth self-shrinkers in all dimensions.
It is our purpose to study complete self-shrinkers in Euclidean space. First of all, we show some examples of complete self-shrinkers without polynomial volume growth. By making use of the generalized maximum principle for $\mathcal{L}$-operator, we give a complete classification for 2-dimensional complete self-shrinkers with constant squared norm of the second fundamental form in $\mathbb R^3$. In \cite{DX2}, Ding and Xin have proved this result under the assumption of polynomial volume growth, which is removed in our theorem.
It is our purpose to study complete self-shrinkers in Euclidean space. By introducing a generalized maximum principle for $\mathcal{L}$-operator, we give estimates on supremum and infimum of the squared norm of the second fundamental form of self-shrinkers without assumption on \emph{polynomial volume growth}, which is assumed in Cao and Li. Thus, we can obtain the rigidity theorems on complete self-shrinkers without assumption on \emph{polynomial volume growth}. For complete proper self-shrinkers of dimension 2 and 3, we give a classification of them under assumption of constant squared norm …
Self-shrinkers are important geometric objects in the study of mean curvature flows, while the Bernstein Theorem is one of the most profound results in minimal surface theory. We prove a Bernstein type result for graphical self-shrinker surfaces with codimension two in $\mathbb{R}^4$. Namely, under certain natural conditions on the Jacobian of any smooth map from $\mathbb{R}^2$ to $\mathbb{R}^2$, we show that the self-shrinker which is the graph of this map must be affine linear. The proof relies on the derivation of structure equations of graphical self-shrinkers in terms of the parallel form…
In this paper, we study the deformed Hermitian-Yang-Mills equation on compact Kähler manifold with non-negative orthogonal bisectional curvature. We prove that the curvatures of deformed Hermitian-Yang-Mills metrics are parallel with respect to the background metric if there exists a positive constant $C$ such that $-\frac{1}{C}ω<\sqrt{-1}F<Cω$. We also study the self-shrinker over $\mathbb{C}^n$ to the corresponding parabolic flow. We prove that the self-shrinker over $\mathbb{C}^n$ is a quadratic polynomial function. We also show the similar rigid theorem for the J-equations and the self-shr…
In this paper, we study the Lagrangian F-stability and Hamiltonian F-stability of Lagrangian self-shrinkers. We prove a characterization theorem for the Hamiltonian F-stability of $n$-dimensional complete Lagrangian self-shrinkers without boundary, with polynomial volume growth and with the second fundamental form satisfying the condition that there exist constants $C_0>0$ and $\varepsilon<\frac{1}{16n}$ such that $|A|^2\leq C_0+\varepsilon |x|^2$. We characterize the Hamiltonian F-stablity by the eigenvalues and eigenspaces of the drifted Laplacian.
Self-shrinkers model singularities of the mean curvature flow; they are defined as the special solutions that contract homothetically under the flow. Colding-Ilmanen-Minicozzi showed that cylindrical self-shrinkers are rigid in a strong sense - that is, any self-shrinker that is mean convex with uniformly bounded curvature on a large, but compact, set must be a round cylinder. Using this result, Colding and Minicozzi were able to establish uniqueness of blowups at cylindrical singularities, and provide a detailed description of the singular set of generic mean curvature flows. In this paper, w…
Haslhofer and Müller proved a compactness Theorem for four-dimensional shrinking gradient Ricci solitons, with the only assumption being that the entropy is uniformly bounded from below. However, the limit in their result could possibly be an orbifold Ricci shrinker. In this paper we prove a compactness theorem for noncompact four-dimensional shrinking gradient Ricci solitons with a topological restriction and a noncollapsing assumption, that is, we consider Ricci shrinkers that can be embedded in a closed four-manifold with vanishing second homology group over every field and are strongly $κ$…
In this paper, we study the line bundle mean curvature flow defined by Jacob and Yau. The line bundle mean curvature flow is a kind of parabolic flows to obtain deformed Hermitian Yang-Mills metrics on a given Kähler manifold. The goal of this paper is to give an $\varepsilon$-regularity theorem for the line bundle mean curvature flow. To establish the theorem, we provide a scale invariant monotone quantity. As a critical point of this quantity, we define self-shrinker solution of the line bundle mean curvature flow. The Liouville type theorem for self-shrinkers is also given. It plays an impo…
In this paper we generalize the neck-stability theorem of Kleiner-Lott to a special class of four-dimensional nonnegatively curved Type I $κ$-solutions, namely, those whose asymptotic shrinkers are the standard cylinder $\mathbb{S}^3\times\mathbb{R}$. We use this stability result to prove a rigidity theorem: if a four-dimensional Type I $κ$-solution with nonnegative curvature operator has the standard cylinder $\mathbb{S}^3\times\mathbb{R}$ as its asymptotic shrinker, then it is exactly the cylinder with its standard shrinking metric.
In Part I of this article we generalize the Linearized Doubling (LD) approach, introduced in earlier work by NK, by proving a general theorem stating that if $Σ$ is a closed minimal surface embedded in a Riemannian three-manifold $(N,g)$ and its Jacobi operator has trivial kernel, then given a suitable family of LD solutions on $Σ$, a minimal surface $\breve{M}$ resembling two copies of $Σ$ joined by many small catenoidal bridges can be constructed by PDE gluing methods. (An LD solution $φ$ on $Σ$ is a singular solution of the Jacobi equation with logarithmic singularities which in the constru…
A weighted area estimate for entire graphs with bounded weighted mean curvature in Gauss space is given by a simple proof. Bernstein type theorems for self shrinkers (\cite {wa}) as well as for graphic $λ$-hypersurfaces (\cite{ chwe2}) follow immediately as consequences.

In this paper, we study complete space-like $λ$-hypersurfaces in the Lorentzian space $\mathbb R^{n+1}_1$. As the result, we prove some rigidity theorems for these hypersurfaces including the complete space-like self-shrinkers in $\bbr^{n+1}_1$.
