The aim of this paper is to develop the regularity theory for a weak solution to a class of quasilinear nonhomogeneous elliptic equations, whose prototype is the following mixed Dirichlet $p$-Laplace equation of type \begin{align*} \begin{cases} \mathrm{div}(|\nabla u|^{p-2}\nabla u) &= f+ \ \mathrm{div}(|\mathbf{F}|^{p-2}\mathbf{F}) \qquad \text{in} \ \ Ω, \\ \hspace{1.2cm} u &=\ g \hspace{3.1cm} \text{on} \ \ \partial Ω, \end{cases} \end{align*} in Lorentz space, with given data $\mathbf{F} \in L^p(Ω;\mathbb{R}^n)$, $f \in L^{\frac{p}{p-1}}(Ω)$, $g \in W^{1,p}(Ω)$ for $p>1$ and $Ω\subset \mathbb{R}^n$ ($n \ge 2$) satisfying a Reifenberg flat domain condition or a $p$-capacity uniform thickness condition, which are considered in several recent papers. To better specify our result, the proofs of regularity estimates involve fractional maximal operators and valid for a more general class of quasilinear nonhomogeneous elliptic equations with mixed data. This paper not only deals with the Lorentz estimates for a class of more general problems with mixed data but also improves the good-$λ$ approach technique proposed in our preceding works~\cite{MPT2018,PNCCM,PNJDE,PNCRM}, to achieve the global Lorentz regularity estimates for gradient of weak solutions in terms of fractional maximal operators.
We give a unified proof of Hölder regularity of weak solutions for mixed local and nonlocal $p$-Laplace type parabolic equations with the full range of exponents $1<p<\infty$. Our proof is based on the expansion of positivity together with the energy estimate and De Giorgi type lemma.
We investigate the mixed local and nonlocal parabolic $p$-Laplace equation \begin{align*} \partial_t u(x,t)-Δ_p u(x,t)+\mathcal{L}u(x,t)=0, \end{align*} where $Δ_p$ is the local $p$-Laplace operator and $\mathcal{L}$ is the nonlocal $p$-Laplace operator. Based on the combination of suitable Caccioppoli-type inequality and Logarithmic Lemma with a De Giorgi-Nash-Moser iteration, we establish the local boundedness and Hölder continuity of weak solutions for such equations.
We obtain existence, uniqueness, and stability results for the modified 1-homogeneous infinity Laplace equation \[ -Δ_\infty u - β|Du| = f, \] subject to Dirichlet or mixed Dirichlet-Neumann boundary conditions. Our arguments rely on comparing solutions of the PDE to subsolutions and supersolutions of a certain finite difference approximation.
We establish existence results for a class of mixed anisotropic and nonlocal $p$-Laplace equation with singular nonlinearities. We consider both constant and variable singular exponents. Our argument is based on an approximation method. To this end, we also discuss the necessary regularity properties of weak solutions of the associated non-singular problems. More precisely, we obtain local boundedness of subsolutions, Harnack inequality for solutions and weak Harnack inequality for supersolutions.
In this work we prove a strong maximum principle for fractional elliptic problems with mixed Dirichlet-Neumann boundary data which extends the one proved by J. Dávila to the fractional setting. In particular, we present a comparison result for two solutions of the fractional Laplace equation involving the spectral fractional Laplacian endowed with homogeneous mixed boundary condition. This result represents a non-local counterpart to a Hopf's Lemma for fractional elliptic problems with mixed boundary data.
We investigate the mixed Dirichlet-Neumann boundary value problems for the Laplace-Beltrami equation on a smooth hypersurface $\mathcal{C}$ with the smooth boundary in non-classical setting in the Bessel potential spaces $\mathbb{H}^1_p(\mathcal{C})$ for $1<p<\infty$. To the initial BVP we apply quasilocalization and obtain model BVPs for the Laplacian. The model mixed BVP on the half plane is investigated by potential method and is reduced to an equivalent system of Mellin convolution equations in Bessel potential and Besov spaces. The symbol of the obtained system is written explicitly, whic…
We investigate the behavior of the solution of a mixed problem in a domain with two moderately close holes. We introduce a positive parameter $ε$ and we define a perforated domain $Ω_ε$ obtained by making two small perforations in an open set. Both the size and the distance of the cavities tend to $0$ as $ε\to 0$. For $ε$ small, we denote by $u_ε$ the solution of a mixed problem for the Laplace equation in $Ω_ε$. We describe what happens to $u_ε$ as $ε\to 0$ in terms of real analytic maps and we compute an asymptotic expansion.
We prove in this paper the global Lorentz estimate in term of fractional-maximal function for gradient of weak solutions to a class of p-Laplace elliptic equations containing a non-negative Schrödinger potential which belongs to reverse Hölder classes. In particular, this class of p-Laplace operator includes both degenerate and non-degenerate cases. The interesting idea is to use an efficient approach based on the level-set inequality related to the distribution function in harmonic analysis.
In this article, we consider mixed local and nonlocal Sobolev $(q,p)$-inequalities with extremal in the case $0<q<1<p<\infty$. We prove that the extremal of such inequalities is unique up to a multiplicative constant that is associated with a singular elliptic problem involving the mixed local and nonlocal $p$-Laplace operator. Moreover, it is proved that the mixed Sobolev inequalities are necessary and sufficient condition for the existence of weak solutions of such singular problems. As a consequence, a relation between the singular $p$-Laplace and mixed local and nonlocal $p$-Laplace equati…
A first-order elliptic-hyperbolic system in extended projective space is shown to possess strong solutions to a natural class of Guderley-Morawetz-Keldysh problems on a typical domain.
We derive basic properties of Triebel-Lizorkin-Lorentz spaces important in the treatment of PDE. For instance, we prove Triebel-Lizorkin-Lorentz spaces to be of class $\mathcal{HT}$, to have property $(α)$, and to admit a multiplier result of Mikhlin type. By utilizing these properties we prove the Laplace and the Stokes operator to admit a bounded $H^\infty$-calculus. This is finally applied to derive local strong well-posedness for the Navier-Stokes equations on corresponding Triebel-Lizorkin-Lorentz ground spaces.
In this paper we consider a Robin-type Laplace operator on bounded domains. We study the dependence of its lowest eigenvalue on the boundary conditions and its asymptotic behavior in shrinking and expanding domains. For convex domains we establish two-sided estimates on the lowest eigenvalues in terms of the inradius and of the boundary conditions.
Laplace interpolation is a popular approach in image inpainting using partial differential equations. The classic approach considers the Laplace equation with mixed boundary conditions. Recently a more general formulation has been proposed where the differential operator consists of a point-wise convex combination of the Laplacian and the known image data. We provide the first detailed analysis on existence and uniqueness of solutions for the arising mixed boundary value problem. Our approach considers the corresponding weak formulation and aims at using the Theorem of Lax-Milgram to assert th…
Some qualitative and quantitative properties of weak solutions to mixed anisotropic and nonlocal quasilinear elliptic and doubly nonlinear parabolic equations
Our goal in this article is to study the global Lorentz estimates for gradient of weak solutions to $p$-Laplace double obstacle problems involving the Schrödinger term: $-Δ_p u + \mathbb{V}|u|^{p-2}u$ with bound constraints $ψ_1 \le u \le ψ_2$ in non-smooth domains. This problem has its own interest in mathematics, engineering, physics and other branches of science. Our approach makes a novel connection between the study of Calderón-Zygmund theory for nonlinear Schrödinger type equations and variational inequalities for double obstacle problems.
In this paper we derive regular criteria in Lorentz spaces for Leray-Hopf weak solutions $v$ of the three-dimensional Navier-Stokes equations based on the formal equivalence relation $π\cong|v|^2$, where $π$ denotes the fluid pressure and $v$ the fluid velocity. It is called the mixed pressure-velocity problem (the P-V problem). It is shown that if $\fπ{(e^{-|x|^2}+|v|)^θ}\in L^p(0,T;L^{q,\infty})\,,$ where $0\leqθ\leq1$ and $\f2p+\f3q=2-θ$, then $v$ is regular on $(0,T]$. Note that, if $\Om$ is periodic, we may replace $\,e^{-|x|^2} \,$ by a positive constant. This result improves a 2018 stat…
A pointwise bound for local weak solutions to the p-Laplace system is established in terms of data on the right-hand side in divergence form. The relevant bound involves a Havin-Maz'ya- Wulff potential of the datum, and is a counterpart for data in divergence form of a classical result of [KiMa], that has recently been extended to systems in [KuMi2]. A local bound for oscillations is also provided. These results allow for a unified approach to regularity estimates for broad classes of norms, including Banach function norms (e.g. Lebesgue, Lorentz and Orlicz norms), and norms depending on the o…
In this paper, we establish several new anisotropic Hardy-Sobolev inequalities in mixed Lebesgue spaces and mixed Lorentz spaces, which covers many known corresponding results. As an application, this type of inequalities allows us to generalize some regularity criteria of the 3D axisymmetric Navier-Stokes equations.
A non-homogeneous mixed local and nonlocal problem in divergence form is investigated for the validity of the global Calderón-Zygmund estimate for the weak solution to the Dirichlet problem of a nonlinear elliptic equation. We establish an optimal Calderón-Zygmund theory by finding not only a minimal regularity requirement on the mixed local and nonlocal operators but also a lower level of geometric assumption on the boundary of the domain for the global gradient estimate. More precisely, assuming that the nonlinearity of the local operator, whose prototype is the classical $(-Δ_p)^1$-Laplace …
Let $H:=-Δ+V$ be a nonnegative Schrödinger operator on $L^2({\bf R}^N)$, where $N\ge 2$ and $V$ is a radially symmetric inverse square potential. Let $\|\nabla^αe^{-tH}\|_{(L^{p,σ}\to L^{q,θ})}$ be the operator norm of $\nabla^αe^{-tH}$ from the Lorentz space $L^{p,σ}({\bf R}^N)$ to $L^{q,θ}({\bf R}^N)$, where $α\in\{0,1,2,\dots\}$. We establish both of upper and lower decay estimates of $\|\nabla^αe^{-tH}\|_{(L^{p,σ}\to L^{q,θ})}$ and study sharp decay estimates of $\|\nabla^αe^{-tH}\|_{(L^{p,σ}\to L^{q,θ})}$. Furthermore, we characterize the Laplace operator $-Δ$ from the view point of the d…

We consider mixed local and nonlocal quasilinear parabolic equations of $p$-Laplace type and discuss several regularity properties of weak solutions for such equations. More precisely, we establish local boundeness of weak subsolutions, lower semicontinuity of weak supersolutions as well as upper semicontinuity of weak subsolutions. We also discuss the pointwise behavior of the semicontinuous representatives. Our main results are valid for sign changing solutions. Our approach is purely analytic and is based on energy estimates and the De Giorgi theory.
We study a mixed boundary value problem for the $p$-Laplace equation $Δ_p u=0$ in an open infinite circular half-cylinder with prescribed Dirichlet boundary data on a part of the boundary and zero Neumann boundary data on the rest. Existence of weak solutions to the mixed problem is proved both for Sobolev and for continuous data on the Dirichlet part of the boundary. We also obtain a boundary regularity result for the point at infinity in terms of a variational capacity adapted to the cylinder.
We consider equations involving a combination of local and nonlocal degenerate $p$-Laplace operators. The main contribution of the paper is almost Lipschitz regularity for the homogeneous equation and Hölder continuity with an explicit Hölder exponent in the general case. For certain parameters, our results also imply Hölder continuity of the gradient. In addition, we establish existence, uniqueness and local boundedness. The approach is based on an iteration in the spirit of Moser combined with an approximation method.
A class of elliptic-hyperbolic equations is placed in the context of a geometric variational theory, in which the change of type is viewed as a change in the character of an underlying metric. A fundamental example of a metric which changes in this way is the extended projective disc, which is Riemannian at ordinary points, Lorentzian at ideal points, and singular on the absolute. Harmonic fields on such a metric can be interpreted as the hodograph image of extremal surfaces in Minkowski 3-space. This suggests an approach to generalized Plateau problems in 3-dimensional space-time via Hodge th…
We consider the mixed problem for the Laplace operator in a class of Lipschitz graph domains in two dimensions with Lipschitz constant at most 1. The boundary of the domain is decomposed into two disjoint sets D and N. We suppose the Dirichlet data, f_D has one derivative in L^p(D) of the boundary and the Neumann data is in L^p(N). We find conditions on the domain and the sets D and N so that there is a p_0>1 so that for p in the interval (1,p_0), we may find a unique solution to the mixed problem and the gradient of the solution lies in L^p.
In this paper we consider eigenfunctions of the Laplacian on a planar domain with polygonal boundary with Dirichlet, Neumann, or mixed boundary conditions. The main result is a quantitative estimate on the $L^2$ mass of eigenfunctions near a point in terms of the distance to the nearest non-adjacent boundary face. In particular, eigenfunctions cannot concentrate completely at any one single point. The technique of proof is to use the commutator ideas from the recent work of the author \cite{Chr-tri,Chr-simp} on triangles and simplices.
Mixed-moment models, introduced before for one space dimension, are a modification of the method of moments applied to a (linear) kinetic equation, by choosing mixtures of different partial moments. They are well-suited to handle such equations where collisions of particles are modelled with a Laplace-Beltrami operator. We generalize the concept of mixed moments to two dimension. The resulting hyperbolic system of equations has desirable properties, removing some drawbacks of the well-known $\MN[1]$ model. We furthermore provide a realizability theory for a first-order system of mixed moments …

We obtain the regularity of solutions in Sobolev spaces for the mixed Dirichlet-conormal problem for parabolic operators in cylindrical domains with time-dependent separations, which is the first of its kind. Assuming the boundary of the domain to be Reifenberg-flat and the separation to be locally sufficiently close to a Lipschitz function of $m$ variables, where $m=0,\ldots,d-2$, with respect to the Hausdorff distance, we prove the unique solvability for $p\in (2(m+2/(m+3),2(m+2)/(m+1)))$. In the case when $m=0$, the range $p\in(4/3,4)$ is optimal in view of the known results for Laplace equ…
We consider a problem of mixed Cauchy type for certain holomorphic partial differential operators whose principal part $Q_{2p}(D)$ essentially is the (complex) Laplace operator to a power, $Δ^p$. We pose inital data on a singular conic divisor given by P=0, where $P$ is a homogeneous polynomial of degree $2p$. We show that this problem is uniquely solvable if the polynomial $P$ is elliptic, in a certain sense, with respect to the principal part $Q_{2p}(D)$.
We study a class of non-divergence form elliptic and parabolic equations with singular first-order coefficients in an upper half space with the homogeneous Dirichlet boundary condition. In the simplest setting, the operators in the equations under consideration appear in the study of fractional heat and fractional Laplace equations. Intrinsic weighted Sobolev spaces are found in which the existence and uniqueness of strong solutions are proved under certain smallness conditions on the weighted mean oscillations of the coefficients in small parabolic cylinders. Our results are new even when the…
In a rectangular domain, a boundary-value problem is considered for a mixed-type equation with a regularized Caputo-like counterpart of hyper-Bessel differential operator and the bi-ordinal Hilfer's fractional derivative. Using the method of separation of variables, Laplace transform, a unique solvability of the considered problem has been established. Moreover, we have found the explicit solution of initial problems for a differential equation with the bi-ordinal Hilfer's derivative and regularized Caputo-like counterpart of the hyper-Bessel differential operator with the non-zero starting po…
This work focuses on the 3D incompressible magnetohydrodynamic (MHD) equations with mixed pressure-velocity-magnetic field in view of Lorentz spaces. Our main result shows the weak solution is regular, provided that $${\frac{π}{\left( e^{-\left\vert x\right\vert ^{2}}+\left\vert u\right\vert +\left\vert b\right\vert \right) ^{θ}}\in L}^{p}(0,T;L^{q,\infty }(\mathbb{R}^{3})),\text{ where }\frac{2}{p}+\frac{3}{% q}=2-θ\text{ and }0\leq θ\leq 1.$$
