In this paper we consider a static and regular fluid generating a locally spherically symmetric and time-independent space-time and calculate the leading quantum corrections to the metric to first order in curvature. Starting from a singularity free classical solution of general relativity, we show that singularities can be introduced in the curvature invariants by quantum gravitational corrections calculated using an effective field theory approach to quantum gravity. We identify non-trivial conditions that ensure that curvature invariants remain singularity free to leading order in the curvature expansion of the effective action.
For the bosonic gravi-dilaton system, we provide systematical approaches to construct non-perturbative string cosmological solutions without curvature singularities, which can match the perturbative solution to any order in $α^{\prime}$ expansion. When higher order $α^{\prime}$ corrections are calculated, they can be straightforwardly plugged in to generate compatible non-perturbative evolutions without curvature singularities. We also give a (phenomenological) map between $α^{\prime}$ corrected EOM and loop corrected EOM. This map enables us to easily generate a loop corrected solution from a…
Low energy effective action of bosonic string theory possesses a kind of singular static solution which can be interpreted as a naked singularity. Based on the Hohm-Zwiebach action, the naked singularities could be smoothed out by introducing the complete $α^{\prime}$ corrections of string theory. In this paper, we present two sets of non-singular solutions, which are also regular everywhere in the Einstein frame. In the perturbative region $α^{\prime}\to0$, the solutions reduce to the perturbative results. Our result provides extra evidence for weak cosmic censorship conjecture (WCCC) from a …
We analytically investigate the pertubative effects of a quantum conformally-coupled scalar field on rotating (2+1)-dimensional black holes and naked singularities. In both cases we obtain the quantum-backreacted metric analytically. In the black hole case, we explore the quantum corrections on different regions of relevance for a rotating black hole geometry. We find that the quantum effects lead to a growth of both the event horizon and the ergosphere, as well as to a reduction of the angular velocity compared to their corresponding unperturbed values. Quantum corrections also give rise to t…
In this paper, we analyze the deflection angle of light by Brane-Dicke wormhole in the weak field limit approximation to find the effect of the Brane-Dicke coupling parameter on the weak gravitation lensing. For this purpose, we consider new geometric techniques, i.e., Gauss-Bonnet theorem and optical geometry in order to calculate the deflection angle. Furthermore, we verify our results by considering the most familiar geodesic technique. Moreover, we establish the quantum corrected metric of Brane-Dicke wormhole by replacing the classical geodesic with Bohmian trajectories, whose matter sour…
A key incentive of quantum gravity is the removal of spacetime singularities plaguing the classical theory. We compute the non-perturbative momentum-dependence of a specific structure function within the gravitational asymptotic safety program which encodes the quantum corrections to the graviton propagator for momenta above the Planck scale. The resulting quantum corrected Newtonian potential approaches a constant negative value as the distance between the two point masses goes to zero, thereby removing the classical singularity. The generic nature of the underlying mechanism suggests that it…
The classical gravity approximation is often employed in AdS/CFT to study the dual field theory, as it allows for many computations. A drawback is however the generic presence of singularities in classical gravity, which limits the applicability of AdS/CFT to regimes where the singularities are avoided by bulk probes, or some other form of regularisation is applicable. At the same time, quantum gravity is expected to resolve those singularities and thus to extend the range of applicability of AdS/CFT also in classically singular regimes. This paper exemplifies such a computation. We use an eff…
Based on a previously found general class of quantum improved exact solutions composed of non-interacting (dust) particles, we model the gravitational collapse of stars. As the modeled star collapses a closed apparent 3-horizon is generated due to the consideration of quantum effects. The effect of the subsequent emission of Hawking radiation related to this horizon is taken into consideration. Our computations lead us to argue that a total evaporation could be reached. The inferred global picture of the spacetime corresponding to gravitational collapse is devoid of both event horizons and she…
In this work, we calculate the Hawking temperature for a quantum corrected black hole geometry using the $reflection$ $from$ $the$ $horizon$ method. We observe that quantum gravity corrections indeed show up in the Hawking temperature formula of the quantum corrected black hole. It is important to notice that the quantum gravity corrections arise in the Hawking temperature formula only due to the underlying quantum gravity corrections to the lapse function of the black hole metric rather than the semi-classical methods used in the analysis. We also substantiate our result by computing the Hawk…
We review the mathematical framework necessary to understand the physical content of quantum singularities in static spacetimes. We present many examples of classical singular spacetimes and study their singularities by using wave packets satisfying Klein-Gordon and Dirac equations. We show that in many cases the classical singularities are excluded when tested by quantum particles but unfortunately there are other cases where the singularities remain from the quantum mechanical point of view. When it is possible we also find, for spacetimes where quantum mechanics does not exclude the singula…
In this paper we focus on the Hamilton-Jacobi method to determine the entropy of a self-dual black hole by using linear and quadratic GUPs(generalized uncertainty principles). We have obtained the Bekenstein-Hawking entropy of self-dual black holes and its quantum corrections that are logarithm and also of several other types.
We study the thermodynamic phase transition of a quantum-corrected Schwarzschild black hole. The modified metric affects the critical temperature which is slightly less than the conventional one. The space without black holes is not the hot flat space but the hot curved space due to vacuum fluctuations so that there appears a type of Gross-Perry-Yaffe phase transition even for the very small size of black hole, which is impossible for the thermodynamics of the conventional Schwarzschild black hole. We discuss physical consequences of the new phase transition in this framework.
We develop a Gauss-Bonnet extension of Loop Quantum Cosmology, by introducing holonomy corrections in modified $F(\mathcal{G})$ theories of gravity. Within the context of our formalism, we provide a perturbative expansion in the critical density, a parameter characteristic of Loop Quantum Gravity theories, and we result in having leading order corrections to the classical $F(\mathcal{G})$ theories of gravity. After extensively discussing the formalism, we present a reconstruction method that makes possible to find the Loop Quantum Cosmology corrected $F(\mathcal{G})$ theory that can realize va…
Recently a boundary energy-momentum tensor $T_{zz}$ has been constructed from the soft graviton operator for any 4D quantum theory of gravity in asymptotically flat space. Up to an "anomaly" which is one-loop exact, $T_{zz}$ generates a Virasoro action on the 2D celestial sphere at null infinity. Here we show by explicit construction that the effects of the IR divergent part of the anomaly can be eliminated by a one-loop renormalization that shifts $T_{zz}$.
It is rather well-known that spacetime singularities are not covariant under field redefinitions. A manifestly covariant approach to singularities in classical gravity was proposed in arXiv:2008.09387. In this paper, we start to extend this analysis to the quantum realm. We identify two types of covariant singularities in field space corresponding to geodesic incompleteness and ill-defined path integrals (hereby dubbed functional singularities). We argue that the former might not be harmful after all, whilst the latter makes all observables undefined. We show that the path-integral measure is …
In this paper we consider the generalized uncertainty principle in the tunneling formalism via Hamilton-Jacobi method to determine the quantum-corrected Hawking temperature and entropy for 2+1-dimensional noncommutative acoustic black holes. In our results we obtain an area entropy, a correction logarithmic in leading order, a correction term in subleading order proportional to the radiation temperature associated with the noncommutative acoustic black holes and an extra term that depends on a conserved charge. Thus, as in the gravitational case, there is no need to introduce the ultraviolet c…
The destruction of the event horizon of a nonsingular black hole, which is not prevented by the weak cosmic censorship conjecture, might provide us the possibility to access quantum regime of gravity inside black hole. We investigate the possibility of overspinning a nonsingular rotating quantum-corrected black hole by a test particle and a scalar field in this paper, and analyse the effect of the quantum parameter on the destruction of the event horizon. For the test particle injection, both extremal and near-extremal black holes cannot be overspun due to the existence of the quantum paramete…
In this paper we focus on the Halmiton-Jacobi method to determine several thermodynamic quantities such as the temperature, entropy and specific heat of two-dimensional Horava-Lifshitz black holes by using the generalized uncertainty principles (GUP). We also address the product of horizons, mainly concerning the event, Cauchy, cosmological and virtual horizons.
Bardeen regular black hole is commonly considered as a solution of general relativity coupled to a nonlinear electrodynamics. In this paper, it is shown that the Bardeen solution may be interpreted as a quantum-corrected Schwarzschild black hole. This new interpretation is obtained by means of a generalized uncertainty principle applied to the Hawking temperature. Moreover, using the regular black hole of Bardeen, it is possible to evaluate the quantum gravity parameter of the generalized uncertainty principle or, assuming the recent upper bounds for such a parameter, to verify an enormous dis…
In this paper we have implemented quantum corrections for the Schwarzschild black hole metric using the generalized uncertainty principle (GUP) in order to investigate the scattering process. We mainly compute, at the low energy limit, the differential scattering and absorption cross section by using the partial wave method. We determine the phase shift analytically and verify that these quantities are modified by the GUP. We found that due to the quantum corrections from the GUP the absorption is not zero as the mass parameter goes to zero. A numerical analysis has also been performed for arb…

The development of dark energy models has stimulated interest to cosmological singularities, which differ from the traditional Big Bang and Big Crunch singularities. We review a broad class of phenomena connected with soft cosmological singularities in classical and quantum cosmology. We discuss the classification of singularities from the geometrical point of view and from the point of view of the behaviour of finite size objects, crossing such singularities. We discuss in some detail quantum and classical cosmology of models based on perfect fluids (anti-Chaplygin gas and anti-Chaplygin gas …
It is proved that coordinate transformations of the Schwarzschild metric to new static and stationary metrics do not eliminate the mode of a particle ''fall'' to the event horizon of a black hole. This mode is unacceptable for the quantum mechanics of stationary states.
We consider the information loss paradox at different angles, from the standard semi-classical approximation of General Relativity to the recently proposed scenarios of black holes evolution caused by effects of gravity quantization. Focusing on the Firewall proposal, we study the loop effects on the geometry and boundary conditions in black hole spacetimes and analyze the energy measured by an infalling observer near their horizons. As a result we obtain a trans-Planckian energy transition for the time-dependent black hole solution on the quantum-induced AdS background, the importance of whic…
According to a corrected dispersion relation proposed in the study on string theory and quantum gravity theory, Rarita-Schwinger equation has been precisely modified, which results in a Rarita-Schwinger-Hamilton-Jacobi equation, and through which, the characteristics of arbitrary spin fermions quantum tunneling radiation from non-stationary Kerr-de Sitter black hole are researched. A series of accurately corrected physical quantities such as surface gravity, chemical potential, tunneling probability and Hawking temperature that describe the properties of the black hole are derived. This resear…
In this work, we have investigated the phenomenon of acceleration radiation exhibited by an atom falling into a quantum corrected Schwarzschild black hole. We observe that the excitation-probability of the atom with simultaneous emission of a photon satisfies the equivalence principle when we compare it to the excitation probability of a mirror accelerating with respect to an atom. We also demonstrate the validity of the equivalence principle for a generic black hole geometry. Then we calculate the horizon brightened acceleration radiation (HBAR) entropy for this quantum corrected black hole g…
String theory enjoys an elevated role among quantum gravity theories, since it seems to be the most consistent UV completion of general relativity and the Standard Model. However, it is hard to verify the existence of this underlying theory on terrestrial accelerators. One way to probe string theory is to study its imprints on the low-energy effective inflationary Lagrangian, which are quantified in terms of high energy correction terms. It is highly likely, thus, to find higher order curvature terms combined with string moduli, that is scalar fields, since both these types of interactions and…
In this paper we derive the leading quantum gravitational corrections to the geodesics and the equations of motion for a scalar field in the spacetime containing a constant density star. It is shown that these corrections can be calculated in quantum gravity reliably and in a model independent way. Furthermore, we find that quantum gravity gives rise to an additional redshift that results from the gradient instead of the amplitude of the density profile.
