The upper critical field of multiband superconductors is an important quantity that can reveal the details about the nature of the superconducting pairing. Here we experimentally map out the complete upper critical field phase diagram of a stoichiometric superconductor, CaKFe$_4$As$_4$, up to 90T for different orientations of the magnetic field and at temperatures down to 4.2K. The upper critical fields are extremely large, reaching values close to ~3$T_c$ at the lowest temperature, and the anisotropy decreases dramatically with temperature leading to essentially isotropic superconductivity at 4.2K. We find that the temperature dependence of the upper critical field can be well described by a two-band model in the clean limit with band coupling parameters favouring intraband over interband interactions. The large Pauli paramagnetic effects together with the presence of the shallow bands is consistent with the stabilization of an FFLO state at low temperatures in this clean superconductor.
We present a comprehensive study of the critical current densities and the superconducting vortex phase diagram in the stoichiometric superconductor CaKFe$_4$As$_4$ which has a critical temperature of 35 K. We performed detailed magnetization measurements both of high quality single crystals for different orientations in an applied magnetic field up to 16 T and for a powder sample. We find an extremely large critical current density, Jc, up to 10$^8$ A/cm2 for single crystals when H||(ab) at 5 K, which remains robust in fields up to 16 T, being the largest of any other iron-based superconducto…
Measurements of the London penetration depth and tunneling conductance in single crystals of the recently discovered stoicheometric, iron - based superconductor, CaKFe$_4$As$_4$ (CaK1144) show nodeless, two effective gap superconductivity with a larger gap of about 6-9 meV and a smaller gap of about 1-4 meV. Having a critical temperature, $T_{c,onset}\approx$35.8 K, this material behaves similar to slightly overdoped Ba$_{1-x}$K$_x$)Fe$_2$As$_2$ (e.g. $x=$0.54, $T_c \approx$ 34 K)---a known multigap $s_{\pm}$ superconductor. We conclude that the superconducting behavior of stoichiometric CaK11…
$^{57}$Fe Mössbauer spectra at different temperatures between $\sim 5$ K and $\sim 300$ K were measured on an oriented mosaic of single crystals of CaKFe$_4$As$_4$ . The data indicate that CaKFe$_4$As$_4$ is a well formed compound with narrow spectral lines, no traces of other, Fe - containing, secondary phases in the spectra and no static magnetic order. There is no discernible feature at the superconducting transition temperature in any of the hyperfine parameters. The temperature dependence of the quadrupole splitting approximately follows the empirical "$T^{3/2}$ law". The hyperfine parame…
We study the superconducting density of states and vortex lattice of single crystals of CaKFe$_4$As$_4$ using a scanning tunneling microscope (STM). This material has a critical temperature of $T_c= 35\,$ K, which is one of the highest among stoichiometric iron based superconductors (FeBSC) and is comparable to $T_c$ found near optimal doping in other FeBSC. Using quasi-particle interference we identify the hole sheets around the zone center and find that two superconducting gaps open in these sheets. The scattering centers are small defects that can be localized in the surface topography and …
We use polarized inelastic neutron scattering to study the spin-excitations anisotropy in the bilayer iron-based superconductor CaKFe$_4$As$_4$ ($T_c$ = 35 K). In the superconducting state, both odd and even $L-$modulations of spin resonance have been observed in our previous unpolarized neutron scattering experiments (T. Xie {\it et al.} Phys. Rev. Lett. {\bf 120}, 267003 (2018)). Here we find that the high-energy even mode ($\sim 18$ meV) is isotropic in spin space, but the low-energy odd modes consist of a $c-$axis polarized mode around 9 meV along with another partially overlapped in-plane…
We employ polarization-resolved Raman spectroscopy to study multi-band stoichiometric superconductor CaKFe$_4$As$_4$. The B$_{2g}$ symmetry Raman response shows no signatures of Pomeranchuk-like electronic nematic fluctuations which is observed for many other Fe-based superconductors. In the superconducting state, we identify three pair-breaking peaks at 13.8, 16.9 and 21 meV and full spectral weight suppression at low energies. The pair-breaking peak energies in Raman response are about 20% lower than twice the gap energies as measured by single-particle spectroscopy, implying a sub-dominant …
We report an inelastic neutron scattering study on the spin resonance in the bilayer iron-based superconductor CaKFe$_4$As$_4$. In contrast to its quasi-two-dimensional electron structure, three strongly $L$-dependent modes of spin resonance are found below $T_c=35$ K. The mode energies are below and linearly scale with the total superconducting gaps summed on the nesting hole and electron pockets, essentially in agreement with the results in cuprate and heavy fermion superconductors. This observation supports the sign-reversed Cooper pairing mechanism under multiple pairing channels and resol…
The dynamical spin susceptibility in the new-structure-type iron-based superconductor CaKFe$_4$As$_4$ was investigated by using a combination of inelastic neutron scattering (INS) measurements and random phase approximation (RPA) calculations. Powder INS measurements show that the spin resonance at $Q_\text{res}=1.17(1)$~$\textÅ^{-1}$, corresponding to the $(π,π)$ nesting wave vector in tetragonal notation, evolves below $T_\text{c}$. The characteristic energy of the spin resonance $E_\text{res}=12.5$~meV is smaller than twice the size of the superconducting gap ($2Δ$). The broad energy featur…
We report resistance and elastoresistance measurements on (Ba$_{0.5}$K$_{0.5}$)Fe$_2$As$_2$, CaKFe$_4$As$_4$, and KCa$_2$Fe$_4$As$_4$F$_2$. The Fe-site symmetry is $D_{2d}$ in the first compound but $C_{2v}$ in the latter two, which lifts the degeneracy of the Fe $d_{xz}$ and $d_{yz}$ orbitals. The temperature dependence of the resistance and elastoresistance is similar between the three compounds. Especially, the [110] elastoresistance is enhanced with decreasing temperature irrespective of the Fe-site symmetry. This appears to be in conflict with recent Raman scattering studies on CaKFe$_4$A…
Single crystalline, single phase CaKFe$_{4}$As$_{4}$ has been grown out of a high temperature, quaternary melt. Temperature dependent measurements of x-ray diffraction, anisotropic electrical resistivity, elastoresistivity, thermoelectric power, Hall effect, magnetization and specific heat, combined with field dependent measurements of electrical resistivity and field and pressure dependent measurements of magnetization indicate that CaKFe$_{4}$As$_{4}$ is an ordered, stoichiometric, Fe-based superconductor with a superconducting critical temperature, $T_c$ = 35.0 $\pm$ 0.2 K. Other than super…
Magnetism is widely considered to be a key ingredient of unconventional superconductivity. In contrast to cuprate high-temperature superconductors, antiferromagnetism in Fe-based superconductors (FeSCs) is characterized by a pair of magnetic propagation vectors. Consequently, three different types of magnetic order are possible. Of theses, only stripe-type spin-density wave (SSDW) and spin-charge-density wave (SCDW) orders have been observed. A realization of the proposed spin-vortex crystal (SVC) order is noticeably absent. We report a magnetic phase consistent with the hedgehog variation of …
We report inelastic light scattering results on the stoichiometric and fully ordered superconductor CaKFe$_4$As$_2$ as a function of temperature and light polarization. In the energy range between 10 and 315 cm$^{-1}$ (1.24 and 39.1 meV) we observe the particle-hole continuum above and below the superconducting transition temperature $T_c$ and 7 of the 8 Raman active phonons. The main focus is placed on the analysis of the electronic excitations. Below $T_c$ all three symmetries projected with in-plane polarizations display a redistribution of spectral weight characteristic for superconductivi…
Three independent components of critical current density, one for the H//c axis and the other two for the H//ab plane, have been studied in CaKFe4As4 single crystals. When the magnetic field is applied along the c axis, we observed fish-tail-like peaks in the M-H hysteresis loop, and the magnetization at higher temperatures exceeds that at lower temperatures at high fields. When the field is applied parallel to the ab plane, a dip structure is observed in the M-H hysteresis loop near the self-field. In addition, for the H//ab plane, we succeeded in separately evaluating the large and significa…
The variations of in- and inter- plane London penetration depths, $Δλ(T)$, were measured using a tunnel diode resonator in single crystals of the intrinsic pnictide superconductor LiFeAs. This compound appears to be in the clean limit with a residual resistivity of 4 ($T\to0$) to 8 ($T_c$) $μΩ\cdot$cm and $RRR$ of 65 to 35, respectively. The superfluid density, $ρ_s(T)=λ^2(0)/λ^2(T)$, is well described by the self-consistent two-gap $γ-$model. Together with the previous data, our results support the universal evolution of the superconducting gap from nodeless to nodal upon departure from optim…
We use high resolution angle resolved photoemission spectroscopy and density functional theory with experimentally obtained crystal structure parameters to study the electronic properties of CaKFe4As4. In contrast to related CaFe2As2 compounds, CaKFe4As4 has high Tc of 35K at stochiometric composition. This presents unique opportunity to study properties of high temperature superconductivity of iron arsenic superconductors in absence of doping or substitution. The Fermi surface consists of three hole pockets at $Γ$ and two electron pockets at the $M$ point. We find that the values of the super…
In the novel stoichiometric iron-based material RbEuFe4As4 superconductivity coexists with a peculiar long-range magnetic order of Eu 4f states; their coexistance is puzzling and represents a challenge for both experiment and theory. Using angle-resolved photoemission spectroscopy, resonant photoemission spectroscopy, Andreev reflection spectroscopy and scanning tunneling spectroscopy we have addressed this puzzle and unambigously shown that Fe- and Eu-derived states are largely decoupled and that superconducting and a long range magnetic orders exist almost independently from each other.
The spin-orbit coupling (SOC) is a key to understand the magnetically driven superconductivity in iron-based superconductors, where both local and itinerant electrons are present and the orbital angular momentum is not completely quenched. Here, we report a neutron scattering study on the bilayer compound CaK(Fe$_{0.96}$Ni$_{0.04}$)$_4$As$_4$ with superconductivity coexisting with a non-collinear spin-vortex crystal magnetic order that preserves the tetragonal symmetry of Fe-Fe plane. In the superconducting state, two spin resonance modes with odd and even $L$ symmetries due to the bilayer cou…
Starting from the simplified analytic model of electronic spectrum of iron - pnictogen (chalcogen) high - temperature superconductors close to the Fermi level, we discuss the influence of antiferromagneting (AFM)scattering both for stoichiometric case and the region of possible short - range order AFM fluctuations in doped compounds. Qualitative picture of the evolution of electronic spectrum and Fermi surfaces (FS) for different dopings is presented, with the aim of comparison with existing and future ARPES experiments. Both electron and hole dopings are considered and possible pseudogap beha…
Alkali-doped iron selenide is the latest member of high Tc superconductor family, and its peculiar characters have immediately attracted extensive attention. We prepared high-quality potassium-doped iron selenide (KxFe2-ySe2) thin films by molecular beam epitaxy and unambiguously demonstrated the existence of phase separation, which is currently under debate, in this material using scanning tunneling microscopy and spectroscopy. The stoichiometric superconducting phase KFe2Se2 contains no iron vacancies, while the insulating phase has a \surd5\times\surd5 vacancy order. The iron vacancies are …
We report neutron inelastic scattering measurements on the stoichiometric iron-based superconductor LiFeAs. We find evidence for (i) magnetic scattering consistent with strong antiferromagnetic fluctuations, and (ii) an increase in intensity in the superconducting state at low energies, similar to the resonant magnetic excitation observed in other iron-based superconductors. The results do not support a recent theoretical prediction of spin-triplet p-wave superconductivity in LiFeAs, and instead suggest that the mechanism of superconductivity is similar to that in the other iron-based supercon…
We elucidate the existing controversies in the newly discovered K-doped iron selenide (KxFe2-ySe2-z) superconductors. The stoichiometric KFe2Se2 with \surd2\times\surd2 charge ordering was identified as the parent compound of KxFe2-ySe2-z superconductor using scanning tunneling microscopy and spectroscopy. The superconductivity is induced in KFe2Se2 by either Se vacancies or interacting with the anti-ferromagnetic K2Fe4Se5 compound. Totally four phases were found to exist in KxFe2-ySe2-z: parent compound KFe2Se2, superconducting KFe2Se2 with \surd2\times\surd5 charge ordering, superconducting …
Recently, iron-chalcogenide superconductors have emerged as a new and promising platform for studying and manipulating Majorana zero mode (MZM). By combining topological band structure and superconductivity in a multiband material, they provide significant advantages such as higher superconducting transition temperature (Tc) and isolated Majorana mode. However, iron-chalcogenide superconductors, especially Fe(Te,Se), suffer from strong inhomogeneity which may hamper their practical application. On the other hand, some iron-pnictide (Fe-As) superconductors, such as LiFeAs, have been demonstrate…
This paper reports the synthesis and superconducting behaviors of the tetragonal iron-chalcogenide superconductor FeSe. The electrical resistivity and magnetic moment measurements confirmed its superconductivity with a $T_c^{zero}$ and $T_c^{mag}$ at 9.4 K under ambient pressure. EPMA indicated the sample to have a stoichiometric Fe:Se ratio of 1:1 ($\pm$0.02). The Seebeck coefficient which was 12.3 $μ$V/K at room temperature, changed to a negative value near 200 K, indicating it to be a two carriers material. Above $T_c$, the $ρ(T)$ curve revealed an 'S' shape. Hence $dρ(T)/dT$, and $d^2ρ(T)/…
High resolution angle-resolved photoemission spectroscopy (ARPES) measurements are carried out on CaKFe$_4$As$_4$, KCa$_2$Fe$_4$As$_4$F$_2$ and (Ba$_{0.6}$K$_{0.4}$)Fe$_2$As$_2$ superconductors. Clear evidence of band folding between the Brillouin zone center and corners with a ($π$,$π$) wave vector has been found from the measured Fermi surface and band structures in all the three kinds of superconductors. A dominant $\sqrt{2}\,\times\,\sqrt{2}$ surface reconstruction is observed on the cleaved surface of CaKFe$_4$As$_4$ by scanning tunneling microscopy (STM) measurements. We propose that the…
In the stoichiometric Fe-pnictides the same d-electrons form the local moments and participate in the metallic conductivity. In the manuscript the emergence of the magnetic moments on the Fe-sites, their interaction with the itinerant electrons are studied in the paramagnetic phase at the different relations between the onsite Coulomb repulsion and the intraatomic Hund's exchange. The energy of the local center that is due to its interaction with the conduction electrons is calculated exactly. It is found that the spin density wave transition is controlled by the RKKY interactions between the …
Charge ordering is one of the most intriguing and extensively studied phenomena in correlated electronic materials because of its strong impact on electron transport properties including superconductivity. Despite its ubiquitousness in correlated systems, the occurrence of charge ordering in iron-based superconductors is still unresolved. Here we use scanning tunneling microscopy to reveal a long-range charge-stripe order and a highly anisotropic dispersion of electronic states in the ground state of stoichiometric FeTe, the parent compound of the Fe(Te, Se, S) superconductor family. The forma…
By performing pressure simulations within density functional theory for the family of iron-based superconductors $Ae{}A$Fe$_4$As$_4$ with $Ae$ = Ca, Sr, Ba and $A$ = K, Rb, Cs we predict in these systems the appearance of two consecutive half-collapsed tetragonal transitions at pressures $P_{c_1}$ and $P_{c_2}$, which have a different character in terms of their effect on the electronic structure. We find that, similarly to previous studies for CaKFe$_4$As$_4$, spin-vortex magnetic fluctuations on the Fe sublattice play a key role for an accurate structure prediction in these materials at zero…
A review of the magnetism in the parent compounds of the iron-based superconductors is given based on the transmission Moessbauer spectroscopy of 57Fe and 151Eu. It was found that the 3d magnetism is of the itinerant character with varying admixture of the spin-polarized covalent bonds. For the 122 compounds a longitudinal spin density wave (SDW) develops. In the case of the EuFe2As2 a divalent europium orders antiferromagnetically at much lower temperature as compared to the onset of SDW. These two magnetic systems remain almost uncoupled one to another. For the non-stoichiometric Fe(1+x)Te p…
The nature of the pairing state in iron-based superconductors is the subject of much debate. Here we argue that in one material, the stoichiometric iron pnictide KFe2As2, there is overwhelming evidence for a d-wave pairing state, characterized by symmetry-imposed vertical line nodes in the superconducting gap. This evidence is reviewed, with a focus on thermal conductivity and the strong impact of impurity scattering on the critical temperature Tc. We then compare KFe2As2 to Ba0.6K0.4Fe2As2, obtained by Ba substitution, where the pairing symmetry is s-wave and the Tc is ten times higher. The t…
In this work, we establish a new theoretical paradigm for vortex Majorana physics in the recently discovered topological iron-based superconductors (tFeSCs). While tFeSCs are widely accepted as an exemplar of topological insulators (TIs) with intrinsic $s$-wave superconductivity, our theory implies that such common belief could be oversimplified. Our main finding is that the normal-state bulk Dirac nodes, usually ignored in TI-based vortex Majorana theories for tFeSCs, will play a key role of determining the vortex state topology. In particular, the interplay between TI and Dirac nodal bands w…
The lower critical magnetic field, $H_{c1}$, of superconductors is measured by using ensembles of NV-centers-in-diamond optical magnetometry. The technique is minimally invasive, and has sub-gauss field sensitivity and sub-$μ$m spatial resolution, which allow for accurate detection of the vector field at which the vortices start penetrating the sample from the corners. Aided by the revised calculations of the effective demagnetization factors of actual cuboid - shaped samples, $H_{c1}$ and the London penetration depth, $λ$, derived from $H_{c1}$ can be obtained. We apply this method to three w…
Using the ab initio FLAPW-GGA method we examine the electronic band structure, densities of states, and the Fermi surface topology for a very recently synthesized ThCr2Si2-type potassium intercalated iron selenide superconductor KxFe2Se2. We found that the electronic state of the stoichiometric KFe2Se2 is far from that of the isostructural iron pnictide superconductors. Thus the main factor responsible for experimentally observed superconductivity for this material is the deficiency of potassium, i.e. the hole doping effect. On the other hand, based on the results obtained, we conclude that th…
High critical temperature superconductivity often occurs in systems where an antiferromagnetic order is brought near $T=0K$ by slightly modifying pressure or doping. CaKFe$_4$As$_4$ is a superconducting, stoichiometric iron pnictide compound showing optimal superconducting critical temperature with $T_c$ as large as $38$ K. Doping with Ni induces a decrease in $T_c$ and the onset of spin-vortex antiferromagnetic order, which consists of spins pointing inwards to or outwards from alternating As sites on the diagonals of the in-plane square Fe lattice. Here we study the band structure of CaK(Fe$…
The 1144 iron arsenide (e.g. CaKFe4As4) has recently been discovered and inspired a tide of search for superconductors. Such far, the discovered compounds are confined to iron arsenides (ABFe4As4), where A and B are either alkali metals or alkaline earth elements. In this work, we propose two directions in searching 1144 structures: (i) using tri-valence cations for A; (ii) substituting the transition metal, e.g. replacing Fe by Co. Following the two directions, we employ density functional theory to study stability and electronic structures of 1144 pnictides of various tri-valence cations (La…
The discovery of superconductivity in Magnesium Diborate (MgB$_2$) has stimulated great interest in the search of new superconductors with similar lattice structures. Unlike cuprate or iron-based superconductors, MgB$_2$ is indisputably a phonon-mediated high temperature superconductor. The emergence of high temperature superconductivity in this material results from the strong coupling between the boron $σ$-bonding electrons around the Fermi level and the bond-stretching optical phonon modes. Here we show, based on the first-principles calculations, that Li$_2$B$_3$C is such a good candidate …
The superconducting order parameter is directly related to the pairing interaction, with the amplitude determined by the interaction strength, while the phase reflects the spatial structure of the interaction. However, given the large variety of materials and their rich physical properties within the iron-based high-Tc superconductors, the structure of the order parameter remains controversial in many cases. Here, we introduce Defect Bound State Quasi Particle Interference (DBS-QPI) as a new method to determine the superconducting order parameter. Using a low-temperature scanning tunneling mic…
The phase diagram of the high-Tc cuprates is dominated by the Mott insulating phase of the parent compounds. As we approach it from large doping, a standard Fermi-liquid gradually turns into a bad non-Fermi liquid metal, a process which culminates in the pseudogap regime, in which the antinodal region in momentum space acquires a gap before reaching a fully gapped Mott state. Here we show that experiments for electron- and hole-doped BaFe2As2 support an analogous scenario. The doping evolution is dominated by the influence of a Mott insulator that would be realized for half-filled conduction b…
We have synthesized tetragonal iron selenide and telluride superconductors through solid state reaction at 450deg.C and 550deg.C respectively. These synthesis temperatures have been established by optimization. Electrical resistivity and magnetic susceptibility measurements (4.2-300 K) confirm superconductivity with Tc of around 8.5 K in all selenide samples of nominal composition Fe1+deltaSe (delta=0.02-0.22). However, Scanning Electron Microscopy/ Energy Dispersive Spectroscopy studies clearly indicate that the actual stoichiometric ratio of Fe : Se for all the samples synthesized is around …
Measurements of London penetration depth are a sensitive tool to study multi-band superconductivity and it has provided several important insights to the behavior of Fe-based superconductors. We first briefly review the "experimentalist - friendly" self-consistent Eilenberger model that relates the measurable superfluid density and structure of superconducting gaps. Then we focus on the \BaFe -derived materials, for which the results are consistent with 1) two distinct superconducting gaps; 2) development of strong in-plane gap anisotropy with the departure from the optimal doping; 3) appearan…
Magnetism in the FeAs stoichiometric compounds and its interplay with superconductivity in vortex states are studied by self-consistently solving the BdG equations based on a two-orbital model with including the on-site interactions between electrons in the two orbitals. It is revealed that for the parent compound, magnetism is caused by the strong Hund's coupling, and the Fermi surface topology aids to select the spin-density-wave (SDW) pattern. The superconducting (SC) order parameter with $s_{\pm}=Δ_{0}\cos(k_{x})\cos(k_{y})$ symmetry is found to be the most favorable pairing for both the e…
Measurements of temperature-dependent in-plane resistivity, $ρ(T)$, were used to determine the upper critical field and its anisotropy in high quality single crystals of stoichiometric iron arsenide superconductor KFe$_2$As$_2$. The crystals were characterized by residual resistivity ratio, $ρ(300K)/ρ(0)$ up to 3000 and resistive transition midpoint temperature, $T_c$=3.8 K, significantly higher than in previous studies on the same material. We find increased $H_{c2}(T)$ for both directions of the magnetic field, which scale with the increased $T_c$. This unusual linear $H_{c2}(T_c)$ scaling i…
Non-invasive magnetic field sensing using optically - detected magnetic resonance of nitrogen-vacancy (NV) centers in diamond was used to study spatial distribution of the magnetic induction upon penetration and expulsion of weak magnetic fields in several representative superconductors. Vector magnetic fields were measured on the surface of conventional, Pb and Nb, and unconventional, LuNi$_2$B$_2$C, Ba$_{0.6}$K$_{0.4}$Fe$_2$As$_2$, Ba(Fe$_{0.93}$Co$_{0.07}$)$_2$As$_2$, and CaKFe$_4$As$_4$, superconductors, with diffraction - limited spatial resolution using variable - temperature confocal sy…
The stoichiometric "111" iron-based superconductor, LiFeAs, has attacted great research interest in recent years. For the first time, we have successfully grown LiFeAs thin film by molecular beam epitaxy (MBE) on SrTiO3(001) substrate, and studied the interfacial growth behavior by reflection high energy electron diffraction (RHEED) and low-temperature scanning tunneling microscope (LT-STM). The effects of substrate temperature and Li/Fe flux ratio were investigated. Uniform LiFeAs film as thin as 3 quintuple-layer (QL) is formed. Superconducting gap appears in LiFeAs films thicker than 4 QL a…
We report 75As-nuclear magnetic resonance (NMR) and nuclear quadrupole resonance (NQR) measurements on transition-metal arsenides LaRu2As2, KCa2Fe4As4F2, and A2Cr3As3. In the superconducting state of LaRu2As2, a Hebel- Slichter coherence peak is found in the temperature dependence of the spin-lattice relaxation rate-1/T1 just below Tc, which indicates that LaRu2As2 is a full-gap superperconducor. For KCa2Fe4As4F2, antiferromagnetic spin fluctuations are observed in the normal state. We further find that the anisotropy rate RAF = Tc1/Tab1 is small and temperature independent, implying that the …
Temperature-dependent resistivity is studied in single crystals of iron-arsenide superconductor Na$_{1-δ}$Fe$_{1-x}$Co$_x$As for electrical current directions along, $ρ_a (T)$, and transverse, $ρ_c (T)$, to the Fe-As layers. Doping with Co increases stability of this compound to reaction with the environment and suppresses numerous features in both $ρ_a(T)$ and $ρ_c(T)$ compared to the stoichiometric NaFeAs. Evolution of $ρ_a (T)$ with $x$ follows a universal trend observed in other pnictide superconductors, exhibiting a $T$-linear temperature dependence close to the optimal doping and develop…
Close to a zero temperature transition between ordered and disordered electronic phases, quantum fluctuations can lead to a strong enhancement of the electron mass and to the emergence of competing phases such as superconductivity. A correlation between the existence of such a quantum phase transition and superconductivity is quite well established in some heavy fermion and iron-based superconductors and there have been suggestions that high temperature superconductivity in the copper oxide materials (cuprates) may also be driven by the same mechanism. Close to optimal doping, where the superc…
