We study a special class of four-point correlation functions of infinitely heavy half-BPS operators in planar N=4 SYM which admit factorization into a product of two octagon form factors. We demonstrate that these functions satisfy a system of nonlinear integro-differential equations which are powerful enough to fully determine their dependence on the 't Hooft coupling and two cross ratios. At weak coupling, solution to these equations yields a known series representation of the octagon in terms of ladder integrals. At strong coupling, we develop a systematic expansion of the octagon in the inverse powers of the coupling constant and calculate accompanying expansion coefficients analytically. We examine the strong coupling expansion of the correlation function in various kinematical regions and observe a perfect agreement both with the expected asymptotic behavior dictated by the OPE and with results of numerical evaluation. We find that, surprisingly enough, the strong coupling expansion is Borel summable. Applying the Borel-Pade summation method, we show that the strong coupling expansion correctly describes the correlation function over a wide region of the 't Hooft coupling.
The octagon function is the fundamental building block yielding correlation functions of four large BPS operators in N=4 super Yang-Mills theory at any value of the 't Hooft coupling and at any genus order. Here we compute the octagon at strong coupling, and discuss various interesting limits and implications, both at the planar and non-planar level.
We continue the study of the octagon form factor which helps to evaluate a class of four-point correlation functions in $\mathcal{N}=4$ SYM theory. The octagon is characterised, besides the kinematical parameters, by a "bridge" of $\ell$ propagators connecting two non-adjacent operators. In this paper we construct an operator representation of the octagon with finite bridge as an expectation value in the Fock space of free complex fermions. The bridge $\ell$ appears as the level of filling of the Dirac sea. We obtain determinant identities relating octagons with different bridges, which we der…
We compute to all loop orders correlation function of four heavy BPS operators in $\mathcal{N}$= 4 SYM with special polarisations considered recently by Frank Coronado. Our main result is an expression for the octagon form factor as determinant of a semi-infinite matrix. We find that at weak coupling the entries of this matrix are linear combinations of ladder functions with simple rational coefficients and give the full perturbative expansion of the octagon.
We consider the so-called simplest correlation function of four infinitely heavy half-BPS operators in planar N=4 SYM in the limit when the operators are light-like separated in a sequential manner. We find a closed-form expression for the correlation function in this limit as a function of the 't Hooft coupling and residual cross ratios. Our analysis heavily relies on the factorization of the correlation function into the product of null octagons and on the recently established determinant representation for the latter. We show that the null octagon is given by a Fredholm determinant of a cer…
We compare various ways of decomposing and decompactifying the string field theory vertex and analyze the relations between them. We formulate axioms for the octagon and show how it can be glued to reproduce the decompactified pp-wave SFT vertex which in turn can be glued to recover the exact finite volume pp-wave Neumann coefficients. The gluing is performed by resumming multiple wrapping corrections. We observe important nontrivial contributions at the multiple wrapping level which are crucial for obtaining the exact results.
We explain how the 't Hooft expansion of correlators of half-BPS operators can be resummed in a large-charge limit in N=4 super Yang-Mills theory. The full correlator in the limit is given by a non-trivial function of two variables: One variable is the charge of the BPS operators divided by the square root of the number Nc of colors; the other variable is the octagon that contains all the 't Hooft coupling and spacetime dependence. At each genus g in the large Nc expansion, this function is a polynomial of degree 2g+2 in the octagon. We find several dual matrix model representations of the cor…
We develop a new technique for computing a class of four-point correlation functions of heavy half-BPS operators in planar N=4 SYM theory which admit factorization into a product of two octagon form factors with an arbitrary bridge length. We show that the octagon can be expressed as the Fredholm determinant of the integrable Bessel operator and demonstrate that this representation is very efficient in finding the octagons both at weak and strong coupling. At weak coupling, in the limit when the four half-BPS operators become null separated in a sequential manner, the octagon obeys the Toda la…
A special class of four-point correlation functions in the maximally supersymmetric Yang-Mills theory is given by the square of the Fredholm determinant of a generalized Bessel kernel. In this note, we re-express its logarithmic derivatives in terms of a two-dimensional Riemann-Hilbert problem. We solve the latter in the null limit making use of the Deift-Zhou steepest descent. We reproduce the exact octagonal anomalous dimension in 't Hooft coupling and provide its novel formulation as a convolution of the non-linear quasiclassical phase with the Fermi distribution in the limit of the infinit…
We study the maximally-helicity-violating (MHV) six-gluon scattering amplitude in planar $\mathcal{N} = 4$ super-Yang-Mills theory at finite coupling when all three cross ratios are small. It exhibits a double logarithmic scaling in the cross ratios, controlled by a handful of "anomalous dimensions" that are functions of the coupling constant alone. Inspired by known seven-loop results at weak coupling and the integrability-based pentagon OPE, we present conjectures for the all-order resummation of these anomalous dimensions. At strong coupling, our predictions agree perfectly with the string …
We consider four-point correlation functions of protected single-trace scalar operators in planar N = 4 supersymmetric Yang-Mills (SYM). We conjecture that all loop corrections derive from an integrand which enjoys a ten-dimensional symmetry. This symmetry combines spacetime and R-charge transformations. By considering a 10D light-like limit, we extend the correlator/amplitude duality by equating large R-charge octagons with Coulomb branch scattering amplitudes. Using results from integrability, this predicts new finite amplitudes as well as some Feynman integrals.
Form factors in planar $\mathcal{N}=4$ super-Yang-Mills theory have a dual description in terms of periodic Wilson loops. This duality maps the multi-collinear expansion of the former to an operator product expansion of the latter. The coefficients of this expansion are decomposed in terms of several elementary building blocks and can be determined at finite 't Hooft coupling using bootstrap and integrability techniques. Some of these blocks are known from an analogous expansion of scattering amplitudes. In addition to these, the expansion for form factors includes a new type of building block…
Building on the recently established connection between the Hagedorn temperature and integrability [Phys.Rev.Lett. 120 (2018) no.7, 071605], we show how the Quantum Spectral Curve formalism can be used to calculate the Hagedorn temperature of AdS5/CFT4 for any value of the 't Hooft coupling. We solve this finite system of finite-difference equations perturbatively at weak coupling and numerically at finite coupling. We confirm previous results at weak coupling and obtain the previously unknown three-loop Hagedorn temperature. Our finite-coupling results interpolate between weak and strong coup…

We compute Luscher corrections for a giant magnon in the η-deformed (AdS_5\times S^5)_η using the su(2|2)_q-invariant S-matrix at strong coupling and compare with the finite-size effect of the corresponding string state, derived previously. We find that these two results match and confirm that the su(2|2)_q-invariant S-matrix is describing world-sheet excitations of the η-deformed background.
Bogomol'nyi-Prasad-Sommerfield solitons in models with spontaneously broken gauge symmetry have been intensively studied at infinite gauge coupling limit, where the governing equation -- so-called master equation -- is exactly solvable. Except for a handful of special solutions, the standing impression is that analytic results at finite coupling are generally unavailable. The aim of this paper is to demonstrate, using domain walls in Abelian-Higgs models as the simplest example, that exact solitons at finite gauge coupling can be readily obtained if the number of Higgs fields ($N_F$) is large …
Recently, it is shown that many Green's functions are not unique at special points in complex momentum space using AdS/CFT. This phenomenon is similar to the pole-skipping in holographic chaos, and the special points are typically located at $ω_n = -(2πT)ni$ with appropriate values of complex wave number $q_n$. We study finite-coupling corrections to special points. As examples, we consider four-derivative corrections to gravitational perturbations and four-dimensional Maxwell perturbations. While $ω_n$ is uncorrected, $q_n$ is corrected at finite coupling. Some special points disappear at par…
We study the temperature dependence of the $a_1$ meson-nucleon coupling constant in the framework of the soft-wall AdS/QCD model with thermal dilaton field. Profile functions for the axial-vector and fermion fields in the AdS-Schwarzschild metric are presented. It is constructed an interaction Lagrangian for the fermion-axial-vector-thermal dilaton fields system in the bulk of space-time. From this Lagrangian integral representation for the $g_{a_1NN}$ coupling constant is derived. The temperature dependence of this coupling constant is numerically analyzed.
We present an exact treatment of the modulus stabilization condition with the general boundary conditions of the bulk scalar field in the Randall-Sundrum model. We find analytical expressions for the value of the modulus and the mass of the radion.
We studied the three dimensional Thirring model in the limit of infinite number of flavors at finite temperature and density. We calculated the number density as a function of temperature and the density at zero temperature serves as a relevant parameter. A three dimensional free fermion gas behavior as the density at zero temperature approaches zero smoothly crosses over to a two dimensional free fermion gas behavior as the density at zero temperature approaches infinity.
We study non-analytic behavior in the static charge susceptibility in finite density states of the ABJM theory using its holographic dual. Emphasis is placed on a particular state characterized by vanishing entropy density at zero temperature, and Fermi surface-like singularities in various fermionic correlation functions. The susceptibility exhibits branch points in the complex momentum plane, with a real part quantitatively very similar to the location of the Fermi surface singularities.
We study holographic isotropization of an anisotropic homogeneous non-Abelian strongly coupled plasma in the presence of Gauss-Bonnet corrections. It was verified before that one can linearize Einstein's equations around the final black hole background and simplify the complicated setup. Using this approach, we study the expectation value of the boundary stress tensor. Although we consider small values of the Gauss-Bonnet coupling constant, it is found that finite coupling leads to significant increasing of the thermalization time. By including higher order corrections in linearization, we ext…
We consider a holographic study of coupling dependent gravitational waves produced by the cosmic first order QCD phase transition at finite baryochemical potential. In the dual description, the first-order QCD phase transition corresponds to the first-order Hawking-Page phase transition in Gauss-Bonnet gravity. At intermediate coupling, we obtain key quantities characterizing the gravitational wave energy density spectrum. We then find that the gravitational waves might be detected for sufficiently large Gauss-Bonnet coupling, while sound waves play an important role in the spectrum. We also c…
