We derive an exact formula for the field form factor in the anyonic Lieb-Liniger model, valid for arbitrary values of the interaction $c$, anyonic parameter $κ$, and number of particles $N$. Analogously to the bosonic case, the form factor is expressed in terms of the determinant of a $N\times N$ matrix, whose elements are rational functions of the Bethe quasimomenta but explicitly depend on $κ$. The formula is efficient to evaluate, and provide an essential ingredient for several numerical and analytical calculations. Its derivation consists of three steps. First, we show that the anyonic form factor is equal to the bosonic one between two special off-shell Bethe states, in the standard Lieb-Liniger model. Second, we characterize its analytic properties and provide a set of conditions that uniquely specify it. Finally, we show that our determinant formula satisfies these conditions.
We show that the Lieb-Liniger model for one-dimensional bosons with repulsive $δ$-function interaction can be rigorously derived via a scaling limit from a dilute three-dimensional Bose gas with arbitrary repulsive interaction potential of finite scattering length. For this purpose, we prove bounds on both the eigenvalues and corresponding eigenfunctions of three-dimensional bosons in strongly elongated traps and relate them to the corresponding quantities in the Lieb-Liniger model. In particular, if both the scattering length $a$ and the radius $r$ of the cylindrical trap go to zero, the Lieb…
We study a matrix element of the field operator in the Lieb-Liniger model using the Bethe ansatz technique coupled with a functional approach to compute Slavnov determinants. We obtain the matrix element exactly in the thermodynamic limit for any coupling constant $c$, and compare our results to known semiclassics at the limit $c\to0.$
We derive explicit expressions for dynamical correlations of the field and density operators in the Lieb-Liniger model, within an arbitrary eigenstate with a small particle density ${\cal D}$. They are valid for all space and time and any interaction strength $c>0$, and are the leading order of an expansion in ${\cal D}$. This expansion is obtained by writing the correlation functions as sums over form factors when formally decomposed into partial fractions.
In the paper arXiv:2002.12065, the authors developed a new method to compute the exact overlap formulas between integrable boundary states and on-shell Bethe states in integrable spin chains. This method utilizes the coordinate Bethe ansatz representation of wave functions and singularity property of the off-shell overlaps. In this paper, we use this new method to derive the formula for overlaps between the Lieb-Liniger Bethe states and the Bose-Einstein condensate (BEC) state. As a simple application this method, we obtained the overlaps between the Lieb-Liniger eigenstates and the free parti…
In this paper, we apply experimental number theory to two integrable quantum models in one dimension, the Lieb-Liniger Bose gas and the Yang-Gaudin Fermi gas with contact interactions. We identify patterns in weak- and strong-coupling series expansions of the ground-state energy, local correlation functions and pressure. Based on the most accurate data available in the literature, we make a few conjectures about their mathematical structure and extrapolate to higher orders.
Based on the method of hydrodynamic projections we derive a concise formula for the Drude weight of the repulsive Lieb-Liniger $δ$-Bose gas. Our formula contains only quantities which are obtainable from the thermodynamic Bethe ansatz. The Drude weight is an infinite-dimensional matrix, or bilinear functional: it is bilinear in the currents, and each current may refer to a general linear combination of the conserved charges of the model. As a by-product we obtain the dynamical two-point correlation functions involving charge and current densities at small wavelengths and long times, and in add…
Aiming at studying the emergence of Non-Equilibrium Steady States (NESS) in quantum integrable models by means of an exact analytical method, we focus on the Tonks-Girardeau or hard-core boson limit of the Lieb-Liniger model. We consider the abrupt expansion of a gas from one half to the entire confining box, a prototypical case of inhomogeneous quench, also known as "geometric quench". Based on the exact calculation of quench overlaps, we develop an analytical method for the derivation of the NESS by rigorously treating the thermodynamic and large time and distance limit. Our method is based …
The Whitham approach is a well-studied method to describe non-linear integrable systems. Although approximate in nature, its results may predict rather accurately the time evolution of such systems in many situations given initial conditions. A similarly powerful approach has recently emerged that is applicable to quantum integrable systems, namely the generalized hydrodynamics approach. This paper aims at showing that the Whitham approach is the semiclassical limit of the generalized hydrodynamics approach by connecting the two formal methods explicitly on the example of the Lieb-Liniger mode…
We consider the time evolution of local observables after an interaction quench in the repulsive Lieb-Liniger model. The system is initialized in the ground state for vanishing interaction and then time-evolved with the Lieb-Liniger Hamiltonian for large, finite interacting strength $c$. We employ the Quench Action approach to express the full time evolution of local observables in terms of sums over energy eigenstates and then derive the leading terms of a $1/c$ expansion for several one and two-point functions as a function of time $t > 0$ after the quantum quench. We observe delicate cancel…
In this paper we study a suitable limit of integrable QFT with the aim to identify continuous non-relativistic integrable models with local interactions. This limit amounts to sending to infinity the speed of light c but simultaneously adjusting the coupling constant g of the quantum field theories in such a way to keep finite the energies of the various excitations. The QFT considered here are Toda Field Theories and the O(N) non-linear sigma model. In both cases the resulting non-relativistic integrable models consist only of Lieb-Liniger models, which are fully decoupled for the Toda theori…
We present a systematic procedure to extract the perturbative series for the ground state energy density in the Lieb-Liniger and Gaudin-Yang models, starting from the Bethe ansatz solution. This makes it possible to calculate explicitly the coefficients of these series and to study their large order behavior. We find that both series diverge factorially and are not Borel summable. In the case of the Gaudin-Yang model, the first Borel singularity is determined by the non-perturbative energy gap. This provides a new perspective on the Cooper instability.
We present exact formulas for the form factors of local operators in the repulsive Lieb-Liniger model at finite size. These are essential ingredients for both numerical and analytical calculations. From the theory of Algebraic Bethe Ansatz, it is known that the form factors of local operators satisfy a particular type of recursive relations. We show that in some cases these relations can be used directly to derive compact expressions in terms of the determinant of a matrix whose dimension scales linearly with the system size. Our main results are determinant formulas for the form factors of th…
We continue our study of the emergence of Non-Equilibrium Steady States in quantum integrable models focusing on the expansion of a Lieb-Liniger gas for arbitrary repulsive interaction. As a first step towards the derivation of the asymptotics of observables in the thermodynamic and large distance and time limit, we derive an exact multiple integral representation of the time evolved many-body wave-function. Starting from the known but complicated expression for the overlaps of the initial state of a geometric quench, which are derived from the Slavnov formula for scalar products of Bethe stat…
Recent exact solutions of the 1D Kardar-Parisi-Zhang equation make use of the 1D integrable Lieb-Liniger model of interacting bosons. For flat initial conditions, it requires the knowledge of the overlap between the uniform state and arbitrary exact Bethe eigenstates. The same quantity is also central in the study of the quantum quench from a 1D non-interacting Bose-Einstein condensate upon turning interactions. We compare recent advances in both domains, i.e. our previous exact solution, and a new conjecture by De Nardis et al.. This leads to new exact results and conjectures for both the qua…
We provide a thorough characterisation of the zero-temperature one-particle density matrix of trapped interacting anyonic gases in one dimension, exploiting recent advances in the field theory description of spatially inhomogeneous quantum systems. We first revisit homogeneous anyonic gases with point-wise interactions. In the harmonic Luttinger liquid expansion of the one-particle density matrix for finite interaction strength, the non-universal field amplitudes were not yet known. We extract them from the Bethe Ansatz formula for the field form factors, providing an exact asymptotic expansio…
We develop an alternative description to solve the problem of the ground-state energy of the Lieb-Liniger model that describes one-dimensional bosons with contact repulsion. For this integrable model we express the Lieb integral equation in the representation of Chebyshev polynomials. The latter form is convenient to efficiently obtain very precise numerical results in the singular limit of weak interaction. Such highly precise data enable us to use the integer relation algorithm to discover the analytical form of the coefficients in the expansion of the ground-state energy for small values of…
We study the ground state one-body correlation function in the Lieb-Liniger model. In the spectral representation, correlations are built from contributions stemming from different excited states of the model. We aim to understand which excited states carry significant contributions, specifically focusing on the small energy-momentum part of the dynamic one-body function. We conjecture that relevant excitations take form similar to two-spinon states known from XXZ spin chain. We validate this hypothesis by numerical evaluation of the correlator with ABACUS algorithm and by analytical computati…
We introduce a framework for calculating dynamical correlations in the Lieb-Liniger model in arbitrary energy eigenstates and for all space and time, that combines a Lehmann representation with a $1/c$ expansion. The $n^{\rm th}$ term of the expansion is of order $1/c^n$ and takes into account all $\lfloor \tfrac{n}{2}\rfloor+1$ particle-hole excitations over the averaging eigenstate. Importantly, in contrast to a 'bare' $1/c$ expansion it is uniform in space and time. The framework is based on a method for taking the thermodynamic limit of sums of form factors that exhibit non integrable sing…
Taking advantage of an exact mapping between a relativistic integrable model and the Lieb-Liniger model we present a novel method to compute expectation values in the Lieb-Liniger Bose gas both at zero and finite temperature. These quantities, relevant in the physics of one-dimensional ultracold Bose gases, are expressed by a series that has a remarkable behavior of convergence. Among other results, we show the computation of the three-body expectation value at finite temperature, a quantity that rules the recombination rate of the Bose gas.
The repulsive Lieb-Liniger model can be obtained as the non-relativistic limit of the Sinh-Gordon model: all physical quantities of the latter model (S-matrix, Lagrangian and operators) can be put in correspondence with those of the former. We use this mapping, together with the Thermodynamical Bethe Ansatz equations and the exact form factors of the Sinh-Gordon model, to set up a compact and general formalism for computing the expectation values of the Lieb-Liniger model both at zero and finite temperature. The computation of one-point correlators is thoroughly detailed and, when possible, co…
We study an array of cigar-like Bose atom condensates confined in a cylinder and examine the competition between the dipole-dipole and the short range interactions. The system is effectively reduced to a one-dimensional boson one with a contact and inverse square interactions. We call this system the Calogero-Sutherland-Lieb-Liniger gas. The universal properties of the ground state are analyzed by the renormalization group theory. By using the bosonization techniques to the excluson gas, we calculate the non-universal exponent depending on the microscopic parameters. This exponent may be exper…
We study the density-density correlation function of the 1D Lieb-Liniger model and obtain an exact expression for the small momentum limit of the static correlator in the thermodynamic limit. We achieve this by summing exactly over the relevant form factors of the density operator in the small momentum limit. The result is valid for any eigenstate, including thermal and non-thermal states. We also show that the small momentum limit of the dynamic structure factors obeys a generalized detailed balance relation valid for any equilibrium state.
Quantum systems exhibit recurrence phenomena after equilibration, but it is a difficult task to evaluate the recurrence time of a quantum system because it drastically increases as the system size increases (usually double-exponential in the number of particles) and strongly depends on the initial state. Here, we analytically derive the recurrence times of the Lieb-Liniger model with relatively small particle numbers for the weak and strong coupling regimes. It turns out that these recurrence times are independent of the initial state and increases only polynomially in the system size.
We have investigated the properties of a model of 1D anyons interacting through a $δ$-function repulsive potential. The structure of the quasi-periodic boundary conditions for the anyonic field operators and the many-anyon wavefunctions is clarified. The spectrum of the low-lying excitations including the particle-hole excitations is calculated for periodic and twisted boundary conditions. Using the ideas of the conformal field theory we obtain the large-distance asymptotics of the density and field correlation function at the critical temperature T=0 and at small finite temperatures. Our expr…
We present a Gaudin-like determinant expression for overlaps of $q$-raised Néel states with Bethe states of the spin-1/2 XXZ chain in the non-zero magnetization sector. The former is constructed by applying global $U_q(sl_2)$ spin raising operators to the Néel state, the ground state of the antiferromagnetic Ising chain. The formulas presented are derived from recently-obtained results for the overlap of the Néel state with XXZ Bethe states. The determinants as well as their prefactors can be evaluated in the scaling limit of the XXZ spin chain to the Lieb-Liniger Bose gas. Within this limit a…
We obtain exact results on interaction quenches in the 1D Bose gas described by the integrable Lieb-Liniger model. We show that in the long time limit integrability leads to significant deviations from the predictions of the grand canonical ensemble and a description within the generalized Gibbs ensemble (GGE) is needed. For a non-interacting initial state and arbitrary final interactions, we find that the presence of infinitely many conserved charges generates a non-analytic behavior in the equilibrated density of quasimomenta. This manifests itself in a dynamically generated Friedel-like osc…

We study a quench protocol where the ground state of a free many-particle bosonic theory in one dimension is let unitarily evolve in time under the integrable Lieb-Liniger Hamiltonian of $δ$-interacting repulsive bosons. By using a recently-proposed variational method, we here obtain the exact non-thermal steady-state of the system in the thermodynamic limit, and discuss some of its main physical properties. Besides being a rare case of a thermodynamically exact solution to a truly interacting quench situation, this interestingly represents an example where a naive implementation of the genera…
We derive the large particle number limit of the Bethe equations for the ground state of the attractive one-dimensional Bose gas (Lieb-Liniger model) on a ring and solve it for arbitrary coupling. We show that the ground state of this system can be mapped to the large-N saddle point of Euclidean Yang-Mills theory on a two-sphere with a U(N) gauge group, and the phase transition that interpolates between the homogeneous and solitonic regime is dual to the Douglas-Kazakov confimenent-deconfinement phase transition.
We address the old and widely debated question of the statistical properties of integrable quantum systems, through the analysis of the paradigmatic Lieb-Liniger model. This quantum many-body model of 1-d interacting bosons allows for the rigorous determination of energy spectra via the Bethe ansatz approach and our interest is understanding whether Poisson statistics is a characteristic feature of this model. Using both analytical and numerical studies we show that the properties of spectra strongly depend on whether the analysis is done for a full energy spectrum or for a single subset with …
In this article we demonstrate a recently developed technique which addresses the problem of obtaining non-universal prefactors of the correlation functions of 1D systems at zero temperature. Our approach combines the effective field theory description of generic 1D quantum liquids with the finite size scaling of form factors (matrix elements) which are obtained using microscopic techniques developed in the context of integrable models. We thus establish exact analytic forms for the prefactors of the long-distance behavior of equal time correlation functions as well as prefactors of singularit…
We consider the construction of a generalized Gibbs ensemble composed of complete bases of conserved charges in the repulsive Lieb-Liniger model. We will show that it is possible to construct these bases with varying locality as well as demonstrating that such constructions are always possible provided one has in hand at least one complete basis set of charges. This procedure enables the construction of bases of charges that possess well defined, finite expectation values given an arbitrary initial state. We demonstrate the use of these charges in the context of two different quantum quenches:…
We review the recently introduced thermodynamic form factors for pairs of particle-hole excitations on finite-entropy states in the Lieb-Liniger model. We focus on the density operator and we show how the form factors can be used for analytic computations of dynamical correlation functions. We derive a new representation for the form factors and we discuss some aspects of their structure. We rigorously show that in the small momentum limit (or equivalently, on hydrodynamic scales) a single particle-hole excitation fully saturates the spectral sum and we also discuss the contribution from two p…
We consider the one-dimensional Lieb-Liniger model (bosons interacting via 2-body delta potentials) in the infinite coupling constant limit (the so-called Tonks-Girardeau model). This model might be relevant as a description of atomic Bose gases confined in a one-dimensional geometry. It is known to have a fermionic spectrum since the N-body wavefunctions have to vanish at coinciding points, and therefore be symmetrizations of fermionic Slater wavefunctions. We argue that in the infinite coupling constant limit the model is indistinguishable from free fermions, i.e., all physically accessible …
Recently, Imambekov and Glazman [Phys. Rev. Lett. 100, 206805 (2008)] showed that the dynamic structure factor (DSF) of the 1D Bose gas demonstrates power-law behaviour along the limiting dispersion curve of the collective modes and calculated the corresponding exponents exactly. Combining these recent results with a previously obtained strong-coupling expansion we present an interpolation formula for the DSF of the 1D Bose gas. The obtained expression is further consistent with exact low energy exponents from Luttinger liquid theory and shows nice agreement with recent numerical results.
We investigate the relaxation dynamics of the integrable Lieb-Liniger model of contact-interacting bosons in one dimension following a sudden quench of the collisional interaction strength. The system is initially prepared in its noninteracting ground state and the interaction strength is then abruptly switched to a positive value, corresponding to repulsive interactions between the bosons. We calculate equal-time correlation functions of the nonequilibrium Bose field for small systems of up to five particles via symbolic evaluation of coordinate Bethe-ansatz expressions for operator matrix el…
The thesis contains description of the Lieb-Liniger model in the context of the correspondence between dark solitons and the so-called hole excitations. We present a detailed analysis of the analytical solution given by the Bethe ansatz and discuss two types of elementary - particle (type I) and hole (type II) - excitations. It turns out that the type I excitations are reproduced by the Bogoliubov spectrum which means that they correspond to the sound waves in the system. It is believed that the eigenstates corresponding to the second branch are strictly connected with dark solitons. The main …
The one-dimensional Lieb-Liniger Bose gas is a prototypical many-body system featuring universal Tomonaga-Luttinger liquid (TLL) physics and free fermion quantum criticality. We analytically calculate finite temperature local pair correlations for the strong coupling Bose gas at quantum criticality using the polylog function in the framework of the Yang-Yang thermodynamic equations. We show that the local pair correlation has the universal value $g^{(2)}(0)\approx 2 p/(n\varepsilon)$ in the quantum critical regime, the TLL phase and the quasi-classical region, where $p$ is the pressure per uni…
We specialize a recently-proposed determinant formula for the overlap of the zero-momentum Néel state with Bethe states of the spin-1/2 XXZ chain to the case of an odd number of downturned spins, showing that it is still of "Gaudin-like" form, similar to the case of an even number of down spins. We generalize this result to the overlap of $q$-raised Néel states with parity-invariant Bethe states lying in a nonzero magnetization sector. The generalized determinant expression can then be used to derive the corresponding determinants and their prefactors in the scaling limit to the Lieb-Liniger (…
We present analytical results for the nonlocal pair correlations in one-dimensional bosonic systems with repulsive contact interactions that are uniformly valid from the classical regime of high temperatures down to weak quantum degeneracy entering the regime of ultralow temperatures. By using the information contained in the short-time approximations of the full many-body propagator, we derive results that are nonperturbative in the interaction parameter while covering a wide range of temperatures and densities. For the case of three particles we give a simple formula for arbitrary couplings …
We derive exact formulas for the expectation value of local observables in a one-dimensional gas of bosons with point-wise repulsive interactions (Lieb-Liniger model). Starting from a recently conjectured expression for the expectation value of vertex operators in the sinh-Gordon field theory, we derive explicit analytic expressions for the one-point $K$-body correlation functions $\langle (Ψ^\dagger)^K(Ψ)^K\rangle$ in the Lieb-Liniger gas, for arbitrary integer $K$. These are valid for all excited states in the thermodynamic limit, including thermal states, generalized Gibbs ensembles and non…
We introduce a variational method for calculating dispersion relations of translation invariant (1+1)-dimensional quantum field theories. The method is based on continuous matrix product states and can be implemented efficiently. We study the critical Lieb-Liniger model as a benchmark and excelent agreement with the exact solution is found. Additionally, we observe solitonic signatures of Lieb's Type II excitation. In addition, a non-integrable model is introduced where a U(1)-symmetry breaking term is added to the Lieb-Liniger Hamiltonian. For this model we find evidence of a non-trivial boun…
We have obtained a determinant representation for the time- and temperature-dependent field-field correlation function of the impenetrable Lieb-Liniger gas of anyons through direct summation of the form factors. In the static case, the obtained results are shown to be equivalent to those that follow from the anyonic generalization of Lenard's formula.
Correlation functions related to the dynamic density response of the one-dimensional Bose gas in the model of Lieb and Liniger are calculated. An exact Bose-Fermi mapping is used to work in a fermionic representation with a pseudopotential Hamiltonian. The Hartree-Fock and generalized random phase approximations are derived and the dynamic polarizability is calculated. The results are valid to first order in 1/γwhere γis Lieb-Liniger coupling parameter. Approximations for the dynamic and static structure factor at finite temperature are presented. The results preclude superfluidity at any fini…
We propose discrete TBA equations for models with discrete spectrum. We illustrate our construction on the Calogero-Moser model and determine the discrete 2-body TBA function which yields the exact N-body Calogero-Moser thermodynamics. We apply this algorithm to the Lieb-Liniger model in a harmonic well, a model which is relevant for the microscopic description of harmonically trapped Bose-Einstein condensates in one dimension. We find that the discrete TBA reproduces correctly the N-body groundstate energy of the Lieb-Liniger model in a harmonic well at first order in perturbation theory, but…
We consider the ground state energy of the Lieb-Liniger gas with $δ$ interaction in the weak coupling regime $γ\to0$. For bosons with repulsive interaction, previous studies gave the expansion $e_{\text{B}}(γ)\simeqγ-4γ^{3/2}/3π+(1/6-1/π^{2})γ^{2}$. Using a numerical solution of the Lieb-Liniger integral equation discretized with $M$ points and finite strength $γ$ of the interaction, we obtain very accurate numerics for the next orders after extrapolation on $M$ and $γ$. The coefficient of $γ^{5/2}$ in the expansion is found approximately equal to $-0.00158769986550594498929$, accurate within …
We derive a determinant expression for overlaps of Bethe states of the XXZ spin chain with the N{é}el state, the ground state of the system in the antiferromagnetic Ising limit. Our formula, of determinant form, is valid for generic system size. Interestingly, it is remarkably similar to the well-known Gaudin formula for the norm of Bethe states, and to another recently-derived overlap formula appearing in the Lieb-Liniger model.
We present a systematic study of the Green functions of a one-dimensional gas of impenetrable anyons. We show that the one-particle density matrix is the determinant of a Toeplitz matrix whose large N asymptotic is given by the Fisher-Hartwig conjecture. We provide a careful numerical analysis of this determinant for general values of the anyonic parameter, showing in full details the crossover between bosons and fermions and the reorganization of the singularities of the momentum distribution function. We show that the one-particle density matrix satisfies a Painleve VI differential equation,…
We consider a generalized Lieb-Liniger model, describing a one-dimensional Bose gas with all its conservation laws appearing in the density matrix. This will be the case for the generalized Gibbs ensemble, or when the conserved charges are added to the Hamiltonian. The finite-size corrections are calculated for the energy spectrum. Large-distance asymptotics of correlation functions are then determined using methods from conformal field theory.
