Better machine understanding of pedestrian behaviors enables faster progress in modeling interactions between agents such as autonomous vehicles and humans. Pedestrian trajectories are not only influenced by the pedestrian itself but also by interaction with surrounding objects. Previous methods modeled these interactions by using a variety of aggregation methods that integrate different learned pedestrians states. We propose the Social Spatio-Temporal Graph Convolutional Neural Network (Social-STGCNN), which substitutes the need of aggregation methods by modeling the interactions as a graph. Our results show an improvement over the state of art by 20% on the Final Displacement Error (FDE) and an improvement on the Average Displacement Error (ADE) with 8.5 times less parameters and up to 48 times faster inference speed than previously reported methods. In addition, our model is data efficient, and exceeds previous state of the art on the ADE metric with only 20% of the training data. We propose a kernel function to embed the social interactions between pedestrians within the adjacency matrix. Through qualitative analysis, we show that our model inherited social behaviors that can be expected between pedestrians trajectories. Predicting the movement trajectories of multiple classes of road users in real-world scenarios is a challenging task due to the diverse trajectory patterns. While recent works of pedestrian trajectory prediction successfully modelled the influence of surrounding neighbours based on the relative distances, they are ineffective on multi-class trajectory prediction. This is because they ignore the impact of the implicit correlations between different types of road users on the trajectory to be predicted - for example, a nearby pedestrian has a different level of influence from a nearby car. In th…

Pedestrian trajectory prediction is essential for collision avoidance in autonomous driving and robot navigation. However, predicting a pedestrian's trajectory in crowded environments is non-trivial as it is influenced by other pedestrians' motion and static structures that are present in the scene. Such human-human and human-space interactions lead to non-linearities in the trajectories. In this paper, we present a new spatio-temporal graph based Long Short-Term Memory (LSTM) network for predicting pedestrian trajectory in crowded environments, which takes into account the interaction with st…
Predicting the future paths of an agent's neighbors accurately and in a timely manner is central to the autonomous applications for collision avoidance. Conventional approaches, e.g., LSTM-based models, take considerable computational costs in the prediction, especially for the long sequence prediction. To support more efficient and accurate trajectory predictions, we propose a novel CNN-based spatial-temporal graph framework GraphTCN, which models the spatial interactions as social graphs and captures the spatio-temporal interactions with a modified temporal convolutional network. In contrast…
Detecting pedestrians and predicting future trajectories for them are critical tasks for numerous applications, such as autonomous driving. Previous methods either treat the detection and prediction as separate tasks or simply add a trajectory regression head on top of a detector. In this work, we present a novel end-to-end two-stage network: Spatio-Temporal-Interactive Network (STINet). In addition to 3D geometry modeling of pedestrians, we model the temporal information for each of the pedestrians. To do so, our method predicts both current and past locations in the first stage, so that each…

Occlusion is a long-standing problem that causes many modern tracking methods to be erroneous. In this paper, we address the occlusion problem by exploiting the current and future possible locations of the target object from its past trajectory. To achieve this, we introduce a learning-based tracking method that takes into account background motion modeling and trajectory prediction. Our trajectory prediction module predicts the target object's locations in the current and future frames based on the object's past trajectory. Since, in the input video, the target object's trajectory is not only…

Human motion prediction is an increasingly interesting topic in computer vision and robotics. In this paper, we propose a new 2D CNN based network, TrajectoryNet, to predict future poses in the trajectory space. Compared with most existing methods, our model focuses on modeling the motion dynamics with coupled spatio-temporal features, local-global spatial features and global temporal co-occurrence features of the previous pose sequence. Specifically, the coupled spatio-temporal features describe the spatial and temporal structure information hidden in the natural human motion sequence, which …

Human motion prediction is an essential part for human-robot collaboration. A multi-grained trajectory graph convolutional networks based and lightweight framework is proposed for habit-unrelated human motion prediction. Specifically, we represent human motion as multi-grained trajectories, including joint traject…

We introduce a novel semi-supervised video segmentation approach based on an efficient video representation, called as "super-trajectory". Each super-trajectory corresponds to a group of compact trajectories that exhibit consistent motion patterns, similar appearance and close spatiotemporal relationships. We generate trajectories using a probabilistic model, which handles occlusions and drifts in a robust and natural way. To reliably group trajectories, we adopt a modified version of the density peaks based clustering algorithm that allows capturing rich spatiotemporal relations among traject…
Inferring relational behavior between road users as well as road users and their surrounding physical space is an important step toward effective modeling and prediction of navigation strategies adopted by participants in road scenes. To this end, we propose a relation-aware framework for future trajectory forecast. Our system aims to infer relational information from the interactions of road users with each other and with the environment. The first module involves visual encoding of spatio-temporal features, which captures human-human and human-space interactions over time. The following modu…
Human trajectory forecasting in crowds presents the challenges of modelling social interactions and outputting collision-free multimodal distribution. Following the success of Social Generative Adversarial Networks (SGAN), recent works propose various GAN-based designs to better model human motion in crowds. Despite superior performance in reducing distance-based metrics, current networks fail to output socially acceptable trajectories, as evidenced by high collisions in model predictions. To counter this, we introduce SGANv2: an improved safety-compliant SGAN architecture equipped with spatio…

Text tracking is to track multiple texts in a video, and construct a trajectory for each text. Existing methodstackle this task by utilizing the tracking-by-detection frame-work, i.e., detecting the text instances in each frame andassociating the corresponding text instances in consecutiveframes. We argue that the tracking accuracy of this paradigmis severely limited in more complex scenarios, e.g., owing tomotion blur, etc., the missed detection of text instances causesthe break of the text trajectory. In addition, different textinstances with similar appearance are easily confused, leadingto …

In this paper, we present LiRaNet, a novel end-to-end trajectory prediction method which utilizes radar sensor information along with widely used lidar and high definition (HD) maps. Automotive radar provides rich, complementary information, allowing for longer range vehicle detection as well as instantaneous radial velocity measurements. However, there are factors that make the fusion of lidar and radar information challenging, such as the relatively low angular resolution of radar measurements, their sparsity and the lack of exact time synchronization with lidar. To overcome these challenges…
We describe a content based video retrieval (CBVR) software system for identifying specific locations of a human action within a full length film, and retrieving similar video shots from a query. For this, we introduce the concept of a trajectory point cloud for classifying unique actions, encoded in a spatio-temporal covariant eigenspace, where each point is characterized by its spatial location, local Frenet-Serret vector basis, time averaged curvature and torsion and the mean osculating hyperplane. Since each action can be distinguished by their unique trajectories within this space, the tr…

To safely and rationally participate in dense and heterogeneous traffic, autonomous vehicles require to sufficiently analyze the motion patterns of surrounding traffic-agents and accurately predict their future trajectories. This is challenging because the trajectories of traffic-agents are not only influenced by the traffic-agents themselves but also by spatial interaction with each other. Previous methods usually rely on the sequential step-by-step processing of Long Short-Term Memory networks (LSTMs) and merely extract the interactions between spatial neighbors for single type traffic-agent…

Forecasting long-term human motion is a challenging task due to the non-linearity, multi-modality and inherent uncertainty in future trajectories. The underlying scene and past motion of agents can provide useful cues to predict their future motion. However, the heterogeneity of the two inputs poses a challenge for learning a joint representation of the scene and past trajectories. To address this challenge, we propose a model based on grid representations to forecast agent trajectories. We represent the past trajectories of agents using binary 2-D grids, and the underlying scene as a RGB bird…
Trajectory prediction has always been a challenging problem for autonomous driving, since it needs to infer the latent intention from the behaviors and interactions from traffic participants. This problem is intrinsically hard, because each participant may behave differently under different environments and interactions. This key is to effectively model the interlaced influence from both spatial context and temporal context. Existing work usually encodes these two types of context separately, which would lead to inferior modeling of the scenarios. In this paper, we first propose a unified appr…
Trajectory prediction is a fundamental and challenging task for numerous applications, such as autonomous driving and intelligent robots. Currently, most of existing work treat the pedestrian trajectory as a series of fixed two-dimensional coordinates. However, in real scenarios, the trajectory often exhibits randomness, and has its own probability distribution. Inspired by this observed fact, also considering other movement characteristics of pedestrians, we propose one simple and intuitive movement description, probability trajectory, which maps the coordinate points of pedestrian trajectory…

For the current 3D human pose estimation task, a group of methods mainly learn the rules of 2D-3D projection from spatial and temporal correlation. However, earlier methods model the global features of the entire body joint in the time domain, but ignore the motion trajectory of individual joint. The recent work [29] considers that there are differences in motion between different joints and deals with the temporal relationship of each joint separately. However, we found that different joints show the same movement trends under some specific actions. Therefore, our proposed Fusionformer method…
