We build on the results of arXiv:1912.11036 for generalised frame fields on generalised quotient spaces and study integrable deformations for $\mathbb{CP}^n$. In particular we show how, when the target space of the Principal Chiral Model is a complex projective space, a two-parameter deformation can be introduced in principle. The second parameter can however be removed via a diffeomorphism, which we construct explicitly, in accordance with the results stemming from a thorough integrability analysis we carry out. We also elucidate how the deformed target space can be seen as an instance of generalised Kaehler, or equivalently bi-Hermitian, geometry. In this respect, we find the generic form of the pure spinors for $\mathbb{CP}^n$ and the explicit expression for the generalised Kaehler potential for $n=1,2$.
The worldsheet theories that describe Poisson-Lie T-dualisable $σ$-models on group manifolds as well as integrable $η$, $λ$ and $β$-deformations provide examples of ${\cal E}$-models. Here we show how such ${\cal E}$-models can be given an elegant target space description within Double Field Theory by specifying explicitly generalised frame fields forming an algebra under the generalised Lie derivative. With this framework we can extract simple criteria for the R/R fields and the dilaton that extend the ${\cal E}$-model conditions to type II backgrounds. In particular this gives conditions for…
In this short proceedings we discuss some of the results obtained in [1]. Integrable deformations enlarge the landscape and understanding of integrable models and its algebraic structures like quantum groups. In this short proceedings, we will review the one-loop renormalisation group analysis of an integrable deformation known as the Yang-Baxter Wess-Zumino model. This classically integrable model shows a striking stability under one-loop renormalisation. In addition, we show how Poisson-Lie T-duality, a generalisation of T-duality that is closely intertwined with integrable deformations, is …
We review some recent developments in the construction of integrable $η$- and $λ$-deformations of the $AdS_5 \times S^5$ superstring. We highlight their link with Poisson-Lie T-duality.
We construct the XX and Hubbard-like models based on unitary superalgebras gl(N|M) generalizing Shastry's and Maassarani's approach. We introduce the R-matrix of the gl(N|M) XX-type model; the one of the Hubbard-like model is defined by "coupling" two independent XX models. In both cases, we show that the R-matrices satisfy the Yang-Baxter equation. We derive the corresponding local Hamiltonian in the transfer matrix formalism and we determine its symmetries. A perturbative calculation "à la Klein and Seitz" is performed. Some explicit examples are worked out. We give a description of the two-…
The thermodynamic Bethe ansatz approach to the study of integrable quantum field theories was introduced in the early 90s. Since then it has been known that the thermodynamic Bethe ansatz equations can be recast in the form of $Y$-systems. These $Y$-systems have a number of interesting properties, notably in the high-temperature limit their solutions are constants from which the central charge of the ultraviolet fixed point can be obtained and they are typically periodic functions, with period proportional to the dimension of the perturbing field. In this letter we discuss the derivation of $Y…
For supercosets with isometry group of the form $\hat{G} \times \hat{G}$, the eta-deformation can be generalised to a two-parameter integrable deformation with independent $q$-deformations of the two copies. We study its kappa-symmetry and write down a formula for the Ramond-Ramond fluxes. We then focus on $\hat{G}= PSU(1,1|2)$ and construct two supergravity backgrounds for the two-parameter integrable deformation of the $AdS_3 \times S^3 \times T^4$ superstring, as well as explore their limits. We also construct backgrounds that are solutions of the weaker generalised supergravity equations o…
The Leigh-Strassler family of N=1 marginal deformations of the N=4 SYM theory admits a Hopf algebra symmetry which is a quantum group deformation of the SU(3) part of the R-symmetry of the Ncal=4 theory. We investigate how this quantum symmetry might be expressed on the gravity side of the AdS/CFT correspondence. First, we discuss the twist leading to the Hopf algebra structure for the well-known beta-deformation as well as a unitarily equivalent theory that we call the w-deformation. We then show how this Hopf twist can be used to define a star product between the three scalar superfields of …
We introduce an extension of the generalised $T\bar{T}$-deformation described by Smirnov-Zamolodchikov, to include the complete set of extensive charges. We show that this gives deformations of S-matrices beyond CDD factors, generating arbitrary functional dependence on momenta. We further derive from basic principles of statistical mechanics the flow equations for the free energy and all free energy fluxes. From this follows, without invoking the microscopic Bethe ansatz or other methods from integrability, that the thermodynamics of the deformed models are described by the integral equations…
We investigate the dynamics of bipartite entanglement after the sudden junction of two leads in interacting integrable models. By combining the quasiparticle picture for the entanglement spreading with Generalised Hydrodynamics we derive an analytical prediction for the dynamics of the entanglement entropy between a finite subsystem and the rest. We find that the entanglement rate between the two leads depends only on the physics at the interface and differs from the rate of exchange of thermodynamic entropy. This contrasts with the behaviour in free or homogeneous interacting integrable syste…
The Born-Infeld equation in two dimensions is generalised to higher dimensions whilst retaining Lorentz Invariance and complete integrability. This generalisation retains homogeneity in second derivatives of the field.
A three-vortex system on a plane is known to be minimally superintegrable in the Liouville sense. In this work, integrable generalisations of the three-vortex planar model, which involve root vectors of simple Lie algebras, are proposed. It is shown that a generalised system, which is governed by a positive definite Hamiltonian, admits a natural integrable extension by spin degrees of freedom. It is emphasised that the n-vortex planar model and plenty of its generalisations enjoy the nonrelativistic scale invariance, which gives room for possible holographic applications.
We propose a consistently algebraic formulation of the extended KP (supersymmetric) integrable -hierarchy systems. We exploit the results already established in [14] and which consist in a framework suspected to unify in a fascinating way all the possible supersymmetric KP-hierarchies and then their underlying supergravity theories . This construction leads among other to built explicit non standard integrable Lax evolution equations suspected to reduce to the well known KP integrable equation. We present also a contribution of our construction to the subject of string equation and solitons. O…
We construct two-parameter families of integrable $λ$-deformations of two-dimensional field theories. These interpolate between a CFT (a WZW/gauged WZW model) and the non-Abelian T-dual of a principal chiral model on a group/symmetric coset space. In examples based on the $SU(2)$ WZW model and the $SU(2)/U(1)$ exact coset CFT, we show that these deformations are related to bi-Yang-Baxter generalisations of $η$-deformations via Poisson-Lie T-duality and analytic continuation. We illustrate the quantum behaviour of our models under RG flow. As a byproduct we demonstrate that the bi-Yang-Baxter $…
Within the context of Supersymmetric Quantum Mechanics and its related hierarchies of integrable quantum Hamiltonians and potentials, a general programme is outlined and applied to its first two simplest illustrations. Going beyond the usual restriction of shape invariance for intertwined potentials, it is suggested to require a similar relation for Hamiltonians in the hierarchy separated by an arbitrary number of levels, N. By requiring further that these two Hamiltonians be in fact identical up to an overall shift in energy, a periodic structure is installed in the hierarchy of quantum syste…
We briefly review the description of the internal sector of supergravity theories in the language of generalised geometry and how this gives rise to a description of supersymmetric backgrounds as integrable geometric structures. We then review recent work, featuring holomorphic Courant algebroids, on the description of $\mathcal N=1$ heterotic flux vacua. This work studied the finite deformation problem of the Hull-Strominger system, guided by consideration of the superpotential functional on the relevant space of geometries. It rewrote the system in terms of the Maurer-Cartan set of a particu…
These are lecture notes for a series of lectures given at the Les Houches Summer School on Integrability in Atomic and Condensed Matter Physics, 30 July to 24 August 2018. The same series of lectures has also been given at the Tokyo Institute of Technology, October 2019. I overview in a pedagogical fashion the main aspects of the theory of generalised hydrodynamics, a hydrodynamic theory for quantum and classical many-body integrable systems. Only very basic knowledge of hydrodynamics and integrable systems is assumed.
We consider the most general set of integrable deformations extending the $T\bar{T}$ deformation of two-dimensional relativistic QFTs. They are CDD deformations of the theory's factorised S-matrix related to the higher-spin conserved charges. Using a mirror version of the generalised Gibbs ensemble, we write down the finite-volume expectation value of the higher-spin charges, and derive a generalised flow equation that every charge must obey under a generalised $T\bar{T}$ deformation. This also reproduces the known flow equations on the nose.
We define intrinsic torsion in generalised geometry and use it to introduce a new notion of generalised special holonomy. We then consider generic warped supersymmetric flux compactifications of M theory and Type II of the form $\mathbb{R}^{D-1,1}\times M$. Using the language of $E_{d(d)}\times\mathbb{R}^+$ generalised geometry, we show that, for $D\geq 4$, preserving minimal supersymmetry is equivalent to the manifold $M$ having generalised special holonomy and list the relevant holonomy groups. We conjecture that this result extends to backgrounds preserving any number of supersymmetries. As…
We consider a class of super-conformal beta-deformed N=1 gauge theories dual to string theory on $AdS_5 \times X$ with fluxes, where $X$ is a deformed Sasaki-Einstein manifold. The supergravity backgrounds are explicit examples of Generalised Calabi-Yau manifolds: the cone over $X$ admits an integrable generalised complex structure in terms of which the BPS sector of the gauge theory can be described. The moduli spaces of the deformed toric N=1 gauge theories are studied on a number of examples and are in agreement with the moduli spaces of D3 and D5 static and dual giant probes.
We set up, purely in A-model terms, a novel formalism for the global solution of the open and closed topological A-model on toric Calabi-Yau threefolds. The starting point is to build on recent progress in the mathematical theory of open Gromov-Witten invariants of orbifolds; we interpret the localization formulae as relating D-brane amplitudes to closed string amplitudes perturbed with twisted masses through an analogue of the "loop insertion operator" of matrix models. We first generalize this form of open/closed string duality to general toric backgrounds in all chambers of the stringy Kaeh…
In this paper we define the analogue of Calabi--Yau geometry for generic $D=4$, $\mathcal{N}=2$ flux backgrounds in type II supergravity and M-theory. We show that solutions of the Killing spinor equations are in one-to-one correspondence with integrable, globally defined structures in $E_{7(7)}\times\mathbb{R}^+$ generalised geometry. Such "exceptional Calabi--Yau" geometries are determined by two generalised objects that parametrise hyper- and vector-multiplet degrees of freedom and generalise conventional complex, symplectic and hyper-Kahler geometries. The integrability conditions for both…
A generalised notion of Kac-Moody algebra is defined using smooth maps from a compact real manifold $\mathcal{M}$ to a finite-dimensional Lie group, by means of complete orthonormal bases for a Hermitian inner product on the manifold and a Fourier expansion. The Peter--Weyl theorem for the case of manifolds related to compact Lie groups and coset spaces is discussed, and appropriate Hilbert bases for the space $L^{2}(\mathcal{M})$ of square-integrable functions are constructed. It is shown that such bases are characterised by the representation theory of the compact Lie group, from which a com…
Surprising links between the deformation of 2D quantum field theories induced by the composite $\textrm{T} \bar{\textrm{T}}$ operator, effective string models and the $AdS/$CFT correspondence, have recently emerged. The purpose of this article is to discuss various classical aspects related to the deformation of 2D interacting field theories. Special attention is given to the sin(h)-Gordon model, for which we were able to construct the $\textrm{T} \bar{\textrm{T}}$-deformed Lax pair. We consider the Lax pair formulation to be the first essential step toward a more satisfactory geometrical inte…
We address the novel structures arising in quantum and string integrable theories, as well as construct methods to obtain them and provide further analysis. Specifically, we implement the automorphic symmetries on periodic lattice systems to obtain integrable hierarchies, whose commutativity and integrable transformations induce a generating structure of integrable classes. This prescription is first applied to 2-dim and 4-dim setups, where we find the new $ \mathfrak{sl}_{2} $ sector, $ \mathfrak{su}(2) \oplus \mathfrak{su}(2) $ with superconductive modes, Generalised Hubbard type classes and…
The geometrical formulation of gravity is not unique and can be set up in a variety of spacetimes. Even though the gravitational sector enjoys this freedom of different geometrical interpretations, consistent matter couplings have to be assured for a steady foundation of gravity. In generalised geometries, further ambiguities arise in the matter couplings unless the minimal coupling principle (MCP) is adopted that is compatible with the principles of relativity, universality and inertia. In this work, MCP is applied to all Standard Model gauge fields and matter fields in a completely general (…
